Evenin' guys!
Happy Birthday to them what has them.

Went to dentist today to get a filling filed. UGH.
No good feeling PT today...have to wait til Tues.
Had a "fight" with the front desk at the Dr.s office today. My other half went for seasonal flu shot and got both seasonal and H1N1, and came home told me to call for an appt. It had JUST arrived, but The front desk first says they don't have it, then says I have to go through prescreening for it. WAiting for a call back form the Dr/s nurse. The H1N1 is now generally available but As I am severely asthmatic and prone to bronchitis and pneumonia, I should be very high on the list for receivership. WE both decided if it became available we would both get it. I as high risk, my other half as caretaker of me should I get it. I tell ya if they give me a hassle over it, I will be sue happy should I get the H1N1. Time is getting late for a call back on a friday. On monday I may just have to call and make a followup appt for my back issues and ask for the H1N1 while there-sneaky, but gets the job done and by-passes the front desk idiots. I should go take a nap....laying down for a quiet nap would almost guarantee the call back.
I'm envious of you guys showing off your MRR stuff. Thats a fine looking boxcar JEFF and Robby P.
Other fine looking stuff I've seen. maybe I work loooooooong and hard on a kit over the winter just to satisfy my MRR Itch?.
y'all have a great evening, and keep warm!
EDIT: Looks like I got top honors the second time this week so I warm up the credit card and y'all order what you fancy.

Good Evening, Chloe, any of the birthday cake left? (Oh, you had some hidden in the back from Barry?) Great - I'll have another slice with a scoop of chocolate ice cream this time, and a Santa Fe mug of coffee to wash it down. Thanks!
Keith, maybe that was a regional thing on that other song. Didn't recall that one; now if anyone needs the words for 'Howdy Doody Time', I recall those just fine. Whistle along with me..
Ray, I guess you're not in that part of upstate NY they were talking about on the news tonight. They were saying about 2-3 feet of the white stuff is expected overnight.
Todd - I'm hoping that by 'poor dog' that you DO mean the four-legged one (called Rerun), right? 'Cause otherwise as that sheriff in 'Smokey & the Bandit' said, "You in a heap of trouble, boy!"
Gee, Randy doesn't cut us w**king guys any slack, does he?
JR - Jeff's repair will probably outlast the trailer, I'd guess.
Jeff, that is one nice bulkhead car - did the load come with it, and who makes that? (drool, drool)
Well, I did get to attend our monthly meeting at w**k (half spent going over stuff the reviewers in Jan. might ask us about safety and emergency procedures - tornado, earthquake, etc., and the other half spent by the new insurance providers explaining everything that isn't covered by the agency-paid insurance we get. My co-w**ker asked what constitutes an emergency (worthy of going to the ER and actually having them pay for it), since he admits he is accident-prone at home. Ah, I love changing insurance providers on an annual basis... (NOT!!) But I got that in, and also got to sign (electronically) the notice declining all the other possible insurances (upstairs, another provider for dental, vision, cancer and other insurance coverages). See my earlier remark about how much I love insurance coverages... Then got busy the rest of the afternoon until half hour past quitting time. Glad I got to the Diner for lunch, 'cause I didn't get out of the office. I am SOOOOO glad I'm not on-call until tomorrow and Sunday. Okay, I should be thankful that I have a job for paying the bills, right? Okay, I'll be thankful, after I unwind from w**k today. I was able to get one majorly-stressed client admitted to the psych. unit before the client imploded, anyway. I think I'm ready for vacation, but only trouble is, THAT is a couple of weeks away.
Doing laundry across the way tonight (because I'll be on-call in the morning). I also really need to get the car oil changed, but not sure if I could hope for a dull morning for long enough. Might risk it anyway in the a.m.
I'll be at the RC, having my dessert and coffee and chit-chatting with Chloe while I see who else may come in.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Evening all from SoggyCal:
I was going to complain about our cold weather (we got snow here in Carmichael on Monday--first time in about 14 years) until I took a look at the weather map and saw that we're ALL going through the same thing, so I'll shut up.
Man, we're getting a Cold Spell all over! Just got an e-mail from a buddy of mine in Paris (no, not Texas--France!), and he said that they're ice-skating on the Siene, so we're not the only ones that old man Winter is taking a major pot-shot at, by a long way.
Lee: , if a little late. Hope yours was as wild as MINE was!
And thanks, guys, for the Birthday wishes. I really appreciate them. I've been so busy with getting the Christmas Concert ready for this Sunday that I almost forgot about it--but they didn't at the school. The faculty gave me a big 70th party in the lunch room at noon--German chocolate cake--and the kids serenaded me last night at our big dress rehearsal. And if that wasn't enough, my partner in crime, Leah, found out that my favorite beer is an Austrian brew called Goesser--very hard to get around here--, and I'll be darned if she didn't go down to the local German delicatessen and order in TWO CASES of the stuff for me! One case of Lager and one case of Dark! Believe me, I'm one happy 70 year old Austrian-American! I won't have to buy beer for MONTHS!
And in case some of you are around my age and bewailing the fact--I found out from a very reliable source--the President of the High School, who is a Jesuit Priest--that 70 is the 'new' 50. He said that he had the information from a Very High Source. Well, I mean, are you going to doubt a PRIEST, LOL?
Nothing much new on the MR front, until the Concert is over with, Sunday. Should go well--we're doing some really difficult music, and the guys are really responding to it. When I think that six years ago I came to work at a high school whose choral program was considered a 'joke', and we're now doing some really Major choral literature--it makes me very proud. And no, I'm not blowing my own horn about this--it's really due to a little powerhouse of a Choral Director named Leah Heine. She brought me in as her assistant and accompanist, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty of it, it's pretty much due to her perseverence and the fact that the guys love her to death, that we've got the choral program we've developed to this stage.
So: Me RETIRE just because I've turned 70? No way. I've still got a lot of work to do, and a partner that I love working with.
So that's it from Cold/Soggy/Cal. I'll catch up later after the concert.
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Thanks again for the B-day wishes!
Tom

Today my doctor increased my antibiotics, again. I was taking 2000 ml of Vancomycin by iv every day (1000 ml every 12 hrs). Now I have to take 3000 ml by iv every day (1500 ml every 12 hrs). I'm gonna be on the bottle for a total of 4 hrs every day. Geez doc! Make up your mind!
Evenin' folks!
Flo just a cup of decafe and a slice of Birthday Cake for me. I'll be sitting by the stove in the back keeping warm.
So Tom, it's the big 70 this year, huh? Congratulations on the milestone and still being a fantastic accompanist! I've never heard you play, but I bet you just about the best around! We have a lady here in Geneva who is now in her 80"s and still the church organist and choir director at the local Methodist church where she has been in the position for over 60 years. Graduated from Eastman just a few year ahead of me! (like 20....) She is still amazing and a fine accompanist. Eubie Blake played his last public concert at the age of 99, so you got a way to go yet!!!
Yeh, Jim, I'm not in the snow belt of NYS. We can get quite a bit here, but where they are expecting the massive snowfall tonight is the area just to the East of Lake Ontario. Snow country up there! One town may get 4' or more of snow tonight. The biggest hit area will be in Oswego County. The N Y, O & W went to Oswego. One of the reasons it went bankrupt was the problems with snow in the area every year..... I have photos in a book that show trains being shoveled out by hand. The photographer took the photo looking down at the train from several feet above standing on the snowdrift. The other area that gets a lot of Lake Effect is the area just West and South of Buffalo. The lake effect over there is off Lake Eire. On occasion we get Lake Effect from Seneca Lake. Lucky that is on the other side of the lake from where Geneva is......... Unfortunately my DIL has to drive to w**k through the stuff on occasion.
Anyone want to go cross country skiing tomorrow? I know a place where the conditions should be great. Little over 3' of nice new fresh s**w.....
Finally got downstairs to the layout and w**ked on the flat cars I am making for a bit. Waiting for some paint to dry. (Only reason I am at the computer right now....) Guess I'll go see how the paint is doing. See you all later!

You can see he was a bit disgruntled when he read THAT!!!
Happy birthday to the birthday boys...looks like only crumbs left from the cake.
THAT was a happy little editor today, she got five articles, will probably get as many next week.
After running my butt all over the place last weekend, for THAT, I get to relax this time. I "could" surprise her and go cover a Christmas lights parade thing tomorrow night in Swisher... or I can stay home with Rerun and the Wife instead. Hmmmmmmm. Loving Wife said something about going to Tipton (Iowa, not Indiana, sorry BILL) and grabbing burgers. I think THAT will win out over THAT.
ULRICH: 30%? Geesh! I guess I'd be sitting there with a sock in my mouth then....and my head wrapped in duct tape to keep it from exploding. Well, keep w**king on RR stuff, hang out here in the Diner, do research on crossing the pond... in other words, SCREW WITH THEM. Hey, you gotta be there, make the most of it...for YOU.
Have a good evenin' one and all...

Jeff buddy ~ "A lot of the morning was spent working on my kitchen drain." Oh no no no~ I've been there done that one. That wasn't a fun one. I was lucky enough to only go back to the hardware store twice. I found a straight shot plastic .. that I had to cut up... to adjust to the trap. I had to do some major adjustments with a bit of creative thinking. Jeanne asked me.. "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Well Jeff.. on the other hand.. aren't you suppose to be taking it easy.. I hate you sound like your mom~ But fixing the kitchen sink/drain.. is probably.. the last thing .. you need to do. Ok.. enough. Then again.. I couldn't do without a kitchen sink. yikes.
Once again.. Jeff nice pics. btw.. so does that mean you were born in 1960? I figured you about my age .. or a tad older. Oh and another thing.. kids like you (army brat maybe)... lol... that have moved around so much during the early years. are found to be more creative. The only reason experts can give an explanation.. is that the child had to make new friends continously. Maybe you'd like to expand on that thought. In the mean time.. I've got some catching up on the reading. "Chloe .. coffee please.. no no.. maybe some juice.. wanta ya got?"
"Oh Chloe.. Promegranate Juice..?.. Give me some please.~.. Nothing like something ancient .. right out of the Bible.. make it a big glass.. its gotta be healthy"..
Jim, "... maybe that was a regional thing on that other song. Didn't recall that one; now if anyone needs the words for 'Howdy Doody Time', I recall those just fine. Whistle along with me.." Now why would I try to remember that one.. lol.. I think that shall be on my list of.. "Things I want to try to forget" lol omg.. put that one in the same file with Sherry Lewis.. with 'Lambchops' and Engineer Bill. But as you have said.. maybe regional shows. But Engineer Bill was probably my biggest inspiration as far as Model RR. And if you tell me you've never heard of him. Well` huh.. he's right up there with Babe Ruth... lol. Probably another regional show.. but I was on T.V. as a kid.. a show called.. The Popeye Show.. with Tom Hatton. Some other time... I'll tell ya how I bumped into Michelle Pfeiffer in the elevator... lol.
Jim.. "Keith, no problem on getting things figured out some - if you're not careful though, you'll have it all figured out before I even see your scans."
Omg.. omg.. omg.. lmao.. Now don't think I've been avoiding you~.. but I think I got it. Doh~! I don't know how it happened.. I did it so many times over and over. I finally took most of it apart.. and said.. "Now I want these.. and that.. well in short I layed out the flexi track.. where I needed it to go.. then just laid the turnouts on top of them.. as I could see where they needed to be.. if that makes sense. Well it sure made it easier for me. So.. where do you want to go with this. As I have said before.. I can give you exact dimensions.. of the proposed area.. and you give it a try. .. so lets go through this.
1. Give you an exact (blank map) map ..with dimensions.. and you give it a try. Including the sizes of the 4 buildings that I feel need to be there.. in spite of it being less of a working yard... but adding some aesthectics. or...
2. You see what I've got.. and go from there.. but still with all the dimensions provided.. of course. Or.. just say..
3. Look keith.. you're on your own.. good luck.. lol. It was a noble idea, but hey.. I've got my own stuff to do.. lol.
I'll see you guys in a few.. I'm going to catch a few hours.. I've been up all night.. and its 4:30 am..lol.. well at least I got a lot of things done. I will sleep sound.. perhaps I shall take a hot shower before I go to bed. hmmm

It's Saturday here in central Illinois with a silent "S", don't know about your part of the world. Today: Increasing clouds, with a high near 40. South wind between 10 and 14 mph. Tonight: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 32. South wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Jeff- that is a nice bulkhead. Do you know what the load is? (that didn't come out right) I mean in real life. What is it made of? Plastic, wood, something you can buy pre made? Whatever it is it looks good. Looks like real wood to me. If it isn't they, you, whoever, did a bang up job making it look that way!
Inch- Good to see your still kickin' Was afraid you might have been hit with the Flu. Whoops! Excuse me. Let me pull my foot out of my mouth here. Jumped in with both feet on that one didn't I! Times like this I wish I didn't wear boots. Truthfully, I didn't even know what it was other than a jewelry party. Never saw the stuff and still haven't. She's been through so many of these parties in the last several years with the same 2 or 3 people trying to get rich, ( and not succeeding because there is time and work involved and they, well, don't want to do that). So they sign up to sell these, Home Interior, Candle Light, Mary Kay, Something that only women went to and wouldn't tell their Mothers, (except for the one who brought her Mother(this didn't happen at MY house)), Pampered Chef, Tupperware, you name it and now Lia, what'd you call it? Sophia?. Then they offer discounts to get people to host parties. Most sign up for parties. Well guess who is invited to the parties. The same people. I well remember the Candle light party fee-asko of 2007. I think she was at party every month for a year. Same few people. Like a Bridge club. (speaking in a very bad Julia Childs imitation)"This month we're having a candle party at Kim's house" At least she didn't have to leave town for them. And really, the products these companies sell, aside from the obvious one where nothing was purchased( and no girl 18 years old should be selling this stuff), are very nice and of good quality. It's just the cackling. And just how many candles does one need really? I do like the leftover snacks though.
Should I say what I want to do today? I think I'll wing it and hope for the best.
Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It's 44, cloudy and wet. The high will be in the mid 50's and there's a chance of rain.I'm still a bit stiff from the ordeal with the kitchen drain yesterday. I'll be taking it easy today as long as Murphy keeps his distance. The Charcot condition in my right foot has definitely moved up into the ankle. It feels like the bones are grinding against each other. My next appointment with the foot doc is on Tuesday. It's gonna be an interesting few days.

I am half way done with my Christmas Cards. Still need to print the envelopes and a bunch of photos to include. Then get them all mailed out. Hopefully soon...... Spent part of the this morning finishing a flyer for the local MLK Service in January. Need to get them out to churches and stores ASAP.
Best get moving if I am to accomplish anything more today.
Okee Dokee. Opinion time. Pull up a chair and have an RBF and a piece of pie.
I'm working on my rental trailer park, well the latest trailer anyway, and I've come to a "I don't know if I like it or not after all" crossroad. What my problem is, is I don't know if it's ready for dulcote or not. I'm going for the old been out in the sun for years, paint worn and faded look. I started to paint the thing and as I was, I noticed that the first coat, if brushed too thin, gave a very convincing look. So I went with it. Now after about a week, I'm not sure if it looks faded, or just like a horrible paint job. The blue striped one in the back is going to recieve a white mist fade, and yes the roof is not attached yet. Nothing is ever really done in my life, so why let the models be any different. I work on one, then set it in place and come back later. My hope is to go do the inside more as I go along. Anyway, the red one I was plannig to just spray dulcote and then add the weathering stuff after the skirting gets done etc. Here are two shots that show fairly well I suppose, what I have.
So what do you think? Honestly, Too much whte? Add a bit more paint? Leave it as is? or paint it the rest of the way and fade.
I don't know why for me, this camera takes such faded pictures. but they give a fairly accurate representation of what it looks like. I also took a picture using the flash
But it actually brings out the differences between the red and white more than what is actually seen in real life. But that I assume is because the red is gloss and has not been dulled. Posssibly will look better when dulcote applied. But I don't want to do that until I'm satisfied with the worn look. Or should I try a white fade in addition to what I've got.
One thing you probably will notice, and is about the only thing I can say I don't care for on these NuComp models, is the oversized window frames They are HUGE. I'm thinking of trying to whittle them down a bit and hope to keep them straight.
I like the blue and white paint scheme, seems quite authentic. Manufactured homes (or trailers as they were called back in the day) generally had narrow metal frame windows without much framing around them. I love this pic:
Morning all! Chloe, I'll have a cup of decaf in this SP mug and a bowl of grape nuts (part of a complete breakfast).
Still laying some subroadbed splines up to the hills today, with a brief trip over to a neighbor's housewarming party. Good day for it, it's warmed up to 30F and the rain has resumed. Almost balmy.
Ray -
Did you read the article that the FGLK is offering to build a spur into the Seneca Medows Landfill if they get some grant $$$ they applied for? Supposedly they want to help keep the trucks off the State Highways out that way by hauling trash from NYC on the rail line. My guess is they'd either have NS or CSX haul it up here from the city and then FGLK would take it form the interhange to the landfill. What ya think?
Hi Gang- First, Happy Birthday to Cat Tom and Lee. Belated but well ment.
Now, as to the trailer- needs to be weathered more. The MHP's I pickup people from have homes 40 and more years old. Layers of leaves on the roofs and dirty streaks running down the walls. Not all the parks have rundown homes but most of the folks have BIG problems. L O F doesn't mean lube, oil and filter. Means lack of funds. One lady, in her 60,s, gets $340 per month. Wish half of moneis we send overseas could be used here.
