Twotruck- Thanks. I also like the picture you posted. Never seen anything like that. Neat. I'm going for a less upkept look than those, but what I can say is, RATS! I wish I'd seen it before. I like the blue and white paint scheme of the upper left right home.Wonder if I can paint white over that red without...... Don't know, have to think about it. Thanks for posting the photo, I was going mainly on memory of old trailers I've seen that were of the era the red one is. The white with blue stripe is newer and the stripe thing I remember. I was thinking, but not sure, as old as the red one was they were mainly one color.

Flip- Yup. Needs weathered for sure. Just wanting to get the base as close as I can before going on and having the first layer ruin the others. Good idea on the leaves and silt on the roof. Didn't think of that. The park isn't intended to be run down as much as just older homes pulled in for rental units actually on the property of an old Motel (guess which one. Ta Daaaaaa! the old Plasticville one. You can see the office in one of the pics. It's an apartment now though the sign hasn't been removed even after all these years.) that has been turned into effciency apartments. A common use around here anyway for motels that have failed due to the Interstates. I lived in a park a long time ago that was inexpensive and the owner would buy older homes and trade out the worst over time. Not a rundown park, just old. He even had a travel trailer there and that's what I'm getting also. I'm kinda losely basing the scene on that trailer park.

I also have to make roof vent tubes. HA! I need some of the sprue material I've been saving.

EDIT: OOOOOH Jeff you rascal!!!! That double post got me the bill for the page!!!! You did that on purpose.LaughLaugh

A coffee TO GO, please. Not doing well today, so won't be staying. But had to share this true story with y'all about my FIL. Remember, he's the one who suffered the major stroke a few years ago and is barely able to walk now, With that in mind,:

So, there was a fairly large Bill for TV/cable service where my FIL & MIL have been living. We know FIL likes to push buttons on the TV remote all the time, occasionally messing things up to the point where one of us has to go re-set things. Guess what he had been ordering to ran up their Bill? Go on, take a wild guess! Are you ready for this, no joke, he had been ordering "Girls Gone Wild".  LaughWe're all still rolling over this one. Shouldn't happen at their (soon to be) new assisted living facility.

Take care folks.

Ray -

Did you read the article that the FGLK is offering to build a spur into the Seneca Medows Landfill if they get some grant $$$ they applied for? Supposedly they want to help keep the trucks off the State Highways out that way by hauling trash from NYC on the rail line. My guess is they'd either have NS or CSX haul it up here from the city and then FGLK would take it form the interhange to the landfill. What ya think?

Yes, they have been talking about adding a spur to the "Great Pile" of Seneca Meadows (Major site, can be seen for miles) for some time.  If all the garbage in the Northeast is going to continue to be dumped in the Finger Lakes area, I think it is far preferable to bring it by rail than in the hundreds of tractor-trailers as it is now.  Most people around here would prefer to have it dumped elsewhere though........... Whistling  We have two of the largest landfills in the North East within 15 miles of each other right here.  We have already seen some problems with water quality from farm run off and the leachate from these places.  The farm runoff is from the monster factory farms (not the well run Mennonite farms).  Leachate from the Ontario County Landfill is trucked in to our very old waste water treatment (that has received several citations for illegal discharge......) for treatment and then goes into Seneca Lake.  According to the "official" city position, "It is perfectly safe...."

There are rumors that Geneva may have to do a major upgrade to the system soon.  Leachate has to be disposed of.... somehow.  How to handle it in the safest manner is the problem we all face.

There is a lot of resistance to the plan to move garbage by rail.  Personally I am in favor of it if we are going to continue to have it brought in anyway.  Both Landfills are doing a good job of handling the amount of waste that is brought in all told.  A view of a new section of Seneca Meadows.....

Good afternoon Diners! Slowly getting the re-designed freight yard wired up. About ½ way there, I'd say. Thanks to Ray's soldering tutorial, so far no ties have been melted; and in N Scale that's more of a challenge than in HO! Here's a typical join  from last night.

About  that Christmas lights on one house, and "Ditto" on the next door one, Flip sent this  in an email the other day.

Jeff:

Finding the trap assembly was easy. It's 1 1/4" inside diameter and is readily available. The top coupling on the other hand was a horse of a different color. It's 1 1/2" at the top and reduces down to 1 1/4" at the bottom. Guess what I couldn't find anywhere. A 1 1/2" to 1 1/4" reducer! It seems next to nobody makes this piece of hardware anymore. Little wonder being that it came out of a trailer that's almost 60 years old. I ended up having to fashion one from a 1 1/2" connector and a 1 1/4" connector with a short compression sleeve in between. There was one place where I had to glue the pipes together with lots of LockTite glue and clamped them off with hose clamps. They'll not be coming apart any time soon. The assembly has been tested and no leaks were detected.
...Sounds eerily  familiar - like the sink in the bathroom of our daughter's house in Truro, built in the early 60s.

JR:

You can frequently get stepdown reducers in steel from your local autoparts exhaust section or in the radiator hose section.
...but for welding, yes? That's the drawback for me, unfortunately. Thanks for the tip ‘though...one never knows!Approve

Galaxy: Don't forget that the H1N1 shot takes up to 10 days to become fully effective.

CapeJim:

but not sure if I could hope for a dull morning...
Our dull morning yesterday (Friday) was rudely interrupted on our drive into the Harbour in snow squalls and gusty winds. The hood of the van suddenly slammed open and hit the windshield. We were truly blessed that the glass held! Also, no other traffic involved, and a verge visible to edge over to stop on. I guess that when I was getting the van ready for the "Santa Parade that didn't happen" last weekend, I must have not totally secured the hood latch. Fortunately it was Kris' mom's Perm day, so we had extra time, and the garage took the van into emergency surgery at once. The were able to bodge a repair on the broken plastic fittings for the grill, so that's back in place and since the latch mechanism is part of the grill, it's important that it should be right, tight and legal, so to speak. The hood itself is slightly bent, but since that's just a cosmetic rather than a safety matter, we aren't figuring on getting it fixed any time soon. Half an hour, and $24.82 later we were on the road again! There was enough force in the hood hitting the windsheild for the interior light fitting above the windsheild to pop out of its housing!

Quoting BridgeTom

until I took a look at the weather map
...was it you Keith who was wondering about where Nova Scotia was? If there is confusion, it may be partly because the USA Today weather map (and others too I don't doubt) show nothing north of the 49th EAST of the Maine coast! NS is in the missing bit, along with some of New Brunswick, and all of Prince Edward Island, to say nothing of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as a whole chunk of Quebec.Banged Head

JP: Good to hear from you. Any action on the CNYTCorp.  in your foreseeable future?

I came in out of the cold to finish this off and thaw out a bit. I've spent most of the afternoon getting the van back into readiness for the Parade tomorrow. There are now some additions - and those have taken a while to provide for.  The side placards will now be kept from blowing away by tethers passing underneath the van. Having those cords not meet an untimely and fiery demise meant stripping out wire from some electrical cable I had put by, and making sections in the tethers from the wire to go across the exhaust. The wind chill was the most inconvenient part of the whole operation.  Now I'm warm, I'll get on with more wiring on the layout.TTFN.

Der - Not yet back to the designing phase like I was a feew years back. Since the g/f has moved in, the space in my basement has shrunk considerably. However, she does know of my intentions for a part of the basement, so I am ok on that front. The Corp is continuing to build it's Diesel Fleet and currently, there is a new SD50 (I think) at the LHS awaiting my purchase! Cool Also, as of lately, the builder has continued to purchase vehicles for his imaginary (at this time) layout!!! LOL.

Anyways, take care and stay warm up there in NE Canada!

Good afternoon...cloudy and in the low 30s here, higher than the weather speculationists had predicted guessed. Crap is melting nicely on the roads, but the road crews got the weekend off, sooooooo whatever is still there in a few hours will freeze again.

TODD and others: thanks! Yeah, Rerun is one of my favorite photo subjects. I've never seen a dog with the wide range of facial expressions he does.

I see Audrey asked how he got the name, welp, he was adopted from the small animals program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The whole litter was given Peanuts' charecter names. When I finally got there, only Rerun and his sister Sally were left. Rerun is, of course, Linus' little brother. He was seen in later years as the little kid perpeptually riding on the back of a bike.

Sally wanted nothing to do with me, Rerun waddled over as only a small puppy can. I picked him up, looked into those big, brown puppy dog eyes...and I couldn't fill out the forms fast enough. I couldn't take him home for another week, I guess he had to finish "puppy school" or something. It about killed me leaving him behind. A week later, I came to pick him up, and I thought his tail was going to fly off it was wagging so fast! He's my Little Fuzzy Buddy. Sally's Mom works at KCC also, and Loving Wife and her swap pictures of "the kids" from time to time.

Here's one of Sally:

Oh, and TODD, with them mobile modular living units... I really like the white with blue stripe. I'm honestly not sure what I'd do with the red one... it needs something in my humble opinion (rated at being only worth about a half-a-cent)...I'm just not sure what I'd do with it. I think I'd steal an idea from The Simpsons though: I'd put a sign at the entrance to the trailer park saying "xx number of days since last tornado" ShockMischief Which reminds me, there's a guy who makes resin models of fire/storm sirens...would be a good idea to have one at the trailer park.

Found it: Ralph Ratcliffe Models: http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeusu2f/index.html

Der JOHN: Wow! Having a hood pop up like THAT in weather like THAT? I think I'd be needing some fresh undies. Glad you guys came through unscathed!!!!

INCH: Good to see you Sir! And you as well JP!

Not much else going on around here, I've got some snow I could/"should" move...but don't feel much like it. Could go looking for high school basketball stats from last night, could make another article for THAT out of THAT if I do. A nap sounds good, I'm sure Rerun wouldn't mind...

Maybe I oughta see how I'm doing with the Christmas shopping for Loving Wife. I found some stuff on "theBay" which would make her very happy." It really helps having a wife who collects die-cast VW Beetles and Pepsi stuff!!!!

Todd.. Looks pretty good to me~

But hey .. I gotta put in my two cents.  'Stoked' .. thats what I said when I saw these babies.. lol.. then I said.. "How Much?  Name a price!"  and Jeanne runs over to take a look.. lol.  She grew up in her later childhood.. oh age 12 thru 18 in a trailer park.. and liked it.  She got all jazzed too over em.  So I asked her.. "What about the picture windows/..are they too big?"  she said 'nah~'  "They made em like that.. some were real Big"  So there ya go Todd.

I wouldn't care about what paint you used on them. Sealed with some type sealer.. gloss or not.. and given time.. to dry.. I have no problems with enamels.  I would spray em with Dullcote.. and thats.. a magic wish right there.  From that point I could have so many avenues to work with.  But lets say.. I didn't like the dull look.  No problemo ese'  just hit it with some artistic..gloss spray..usually paints pretty thin.. and gives a nice shine.  But lets get back tot he Dullcote.  I love the colors.. and would seriously be thinking about using Craft Colored Paints. They are water soluble.. but not thin like water paints.  And.. and~ some what forgiveable... they can wipe off.

So anyways.. I'd be using a color .. oh something like a 'Hay' color.. more of a very dirty yellow.  I would mix that color with water.. not load up the brush so I don't have water runny paint running all over.. and just hit it lightly.  On a side note.. I'd also have a total of three cups of water there.. along with some extra brushes and q-tips to have full access to wiping off the thin water based coat and realize the longer it sits on the trailer.. the harder it is to remove..

I myself Todd, If I liked the light touch.. I'd seal it in Dullcote first to see how it looks.. and if I wanted the shine.. well you know.  But I'd go with a brighter color like the 'hay color' .. in a wash.  Maybe you thought a roof brown. Maybe both!  But the brown first.. or last?  oh hey~

I sometimes wonder if its the brighter colors of a dirty yellow that brings out the 'Red' you've painted.  But heck Todd.. that is really two 'choice trailers'   Most trailer parks are dusty.. to me.. esp. in an older setting.  Depends on what you want I guess.  But I would not expect to see a shine.

BTW.. you gotta name for this trailer park?  'Starlight Starbright Trailer Park'  hey.. just go ahead and paint away on these babies.. and just remember.. I said.. "How much?"  lol.

OK TODD....I was gonna take a nap with Rerun, but your mobile, modular living unit keeps running around inside my cranium. One thing I'd do...is put up some really attrocious, I mean hideous, nasty, ultra funky curtains behind the huge picture windows...THAT or scab-in some kind of interior. A massively huge flat-screen TV would be appropriate in there along with a massive, huge, worthy of providing sound at an AC/DC concert-sized stereo system would also look good in there. As for the paint, maybe lightly dry-brushing some aluminumumum paint, to look like the red is flaking off the alumunumum siding??? What I'm thinking with this, is (and I'm taking a cue from the nut we bought our house from), the occupiers imbibe a lot...got tanked-up and painted the trailer with the wrong kinda paint...now it's flaking off. And, having it a bright red makes it easier for them to find when they finally make it back home. I've got a neighbor who said the "loud colors" on our house made it easy for him to find his (across the street) on his way home from the bar...Disapprove

I think KEITH is on to something with the "dusty" look. I'd also park about a half-dozen battered old vehicles in various states of disrepair (even one on blocks) in front of it. I think I'd also put some scraggy looking shrubbery (oh NO! Here we go again with SHRUBBERY!), and maybe have someone passed out in them. Eight Ball

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe I was a paramedic for too long............Banged HeadWhistling

I guess what I'm getting around to, is I'd have "nice" people living in the white with blue stripe unit...and have "fun" with the dwellers in the red one.

Please note everybody, I'm not out to offend or attack anybody here...just recalling some places I've responded to over the years, and trying to have a little fun with it all.

Back again, had to get my meds and my manifest for monday.   Anyway, back to trailer homes. There is  a section of the Ocala Nat. Forest called Forest hills. Some beautiful well kept trailers and back off the main paved roads, the eyesores. Some of them are really Meth labs. There are raids about every 4 months. Also the occasional shooting.

Just listened to Canada Calling on the a.m. radio. Toyota is building a plant in Ontario.Think about 800 new jobs. Bad news is your weather is going to stay for another week. Wish I could send air or train fare

"Chloe coffee please ..dear.. thank.. you ~  always a contagious smile when you serve.  Sit down for a sec.. let me pour ya one.. even if its a sip:"

Tis a rainy day in California.. and time for some talkin~  lol.. Jeff.. nice work.. You really made this baby look     A-1   I am impressed. .. Thanks for the pic.  Now I guess when you use the word  'downs' .. you mean that 'rope' you used to tie it down?  I can't believe how Nice it looks!  Truly  'A Touch Of The Master's Hand'  Ah you know how the story goes.. lol.

  "More Coffee Chloe?"

A local Charity auction was going on, and a very old dusty dirty violin was up next for bidding.  The auctioneer opens it up.. coughing lightly.. and says.. "Who will give me $12 dollars for this antique~" chuckling under his breath.  The room mildly laughs..  "$8 dollars?"   Someone from up front chirps in and jokingly bids.. "I'll give you $3 dollars."  Then from the back of the hall comes a voice asking if he could examine it?  A small man,  elderly making his way up to the podium.. and quietly gestures a 'thank you' and puts on his glasses.  The man holds the violin with such care... touches it as if knowing every grain on the wood.. and its workmanship.  He holds it up into the light as if thats all it needed,  he brings out his hanky and starts to dust off an old friend.  A smile to his face,  he plucks one string, then another .. tunes  the violin and asks for the bow.  The auctioneer quickly responds~  Imagine the hall filled with on-lookers and doubters and wondering what could be next?  The murmurs cease as a sweet melody filled the room.  Starting so softly, so sweetly,  a sound that sounded as if several violins are playing. The melody so moving, so soft and warm but quiet..   Such was the elderly man..so soft, so sweet.. moving.. and quietly off the stage and back into the crowd.  The Auctioneer says.. "Who will give me $30 dollars.. ?"  "300.. and higher.. till $3000 dollars was the final bid.  But it wasn't till the "Touch Of The Master's Hand' that others saw its true worth.    Now isn'that a good story.. yes.. its an analogy of God's Love for Mankind  and the true worth of mans soul.  And to me whats Christmas is all about.   yeah.. now isnt' that a good story.. 'gotcha'  gets me right here  > (pointing my heart) *  But nice work Jeff.

Happy Holidays to each and every one of you peepls there.. from Keith and Jeanne !  and  a Happy New Year!

Thanks Keith. It's amazing what a little alcohol and black acrylic paint can do. I used a sewing needle and some black thread from my rather miserable tiny sewing kit. I simply tied the thread to the first slat cleat on the side of the car then went right over the top of the load to the second cleat in line on the other side then back over to the third one on the first side and so on until all the cleats were used. I then tied the thread off to the last one and cut off the excess. It took a little while because I had hard time seeing those tiny cleats. They were just big enough to allow the needle to pass through. I took my time at it and it was tremendous fun. It really brightened my day. Thanks for sending it.

I got a letter from Social Security yesterday that gave me a real laugh. In fact I went into a hysterical laughing fit that led to a coughing fit and my mother was very concerned about my health. OK, we've all seen the way the cost of living and inflation have risen over the past year, right? Well, Social Security says they won't be making a Cost Of Living Allowance increase this year because the CPI (Consumer Price Index) shows NO increase in the cost of living and NO rise in inflation for the past year. I wonder which CPI report they're looking at. In the last year my cost for water went up, the cost of my electricity went up by 40%, gasoline went up, the cost of food went up, the cost for my cable went up (naturally the service decreased at the same time) and the price of my satellite TV servive went up. Please tell me which of these things don't impact the cost of living. By the way, the cost of dying went up too, so there's no escape that way either.Laugh

Good evening ... I'll have a loaded pizza.

Ray asked ...  "Garry, you are quiet this morning.  How ya doin'?" ..ray, it's busy and hectic. ... Everybody else knows what I should be doing with my time if you know what I mean..

Jeff ... The CPI spiked up last year due to energy costs and the oil price bubble. The bubble burst in July 2008. CPI, therefore was elevated in mid 2008. Accordingly, SS payments were actually higher than they would have otherwise been in 2009. ... It was your "windfall" for 2009. I'm sure you noticed it! Whistling ... Since you asked here is a link to the CPI tables. You can see energy prices are ver ynegative. Food prices are somewhat negative. If you scroll down to the graph, you can see the overall price index dropped sharply a year ago. ... I need to be careful to avoid going on a political tangent at this point!

At this time of year I think back to a bus trip that was a life changing trip for a man I'd never met before that day. I was on my way home from Missouri for the Christmas holidays. The bus I was on (a Greyhound) was the last one out until the next day and I wasn't going to wait. Heck, I was 19, I wasn't going to waste time waiting around for a bus that was going directly to my destination. The one that was leaving was an indirect run via Memphis Tennessee. Yeah, I could stand a little longer trip. The bus left on time and the driver made it a point to outrun several Amtrak trains enroute in open defiance of the 55 mph speed limit. I didn't mind. That cut that much more time off the trip. I didn't pay much attention to those around me with the exception of a retired army sergeant. The closer we got to Memphis the more nervous he became. I finally asked him what the problem was. He told me that he was going back home to Memphis and he had written his parents that he was coming. He hadn't received any reply from them. This seemed normal to him considering the fact that he and his father had had a really big fight when he decided to go into the army many years before. His father had been in the army and it hadn't worked out for him and very nearly ruined his life. He wasn't going to have anything to do with his son any longer and kicked him out and told him not to come back. He had written them many times over the years but the letters went unanswered. Every time he managed to get their phone number the number was changed to a new unlisted number after his first call. Well, he finally made up his mind that he was going to go home. He had a hotel room reserved just in case. In his letter he had told them that if they wanted him to come home they had to tie a white ribbon around the apple tree at the bottom of their orchard next to the highway. If he didn't see it he would go on to the hotel and move on with his life. Well, the closer we got the harder it was for him to look and he was getting really upset so I told him I would look for him. By this time everybody on the bus knew what was up. As we came up to the area where his parent's orchard fronted the highway he couldn't bear to look. Everybody else did though. He was almost scared out of socks when a sudden load cheer went up. He looked up and asked 'Did they have a ribbon tied around the tree?'. I told him exactly what I had seen. There were ribbons tied around every tree in that orchard and there was an elderly couple standing outside the fence with a sign that said 'We love you son, come home'. I guess 20 years had made a difference.

Yes, Jeff, I know there will be no increase in my disability check either. It was announced on the national news about 3 months ago. Seems that while everything has gone up, {or has been the same price for reduced quantity}, they claim the CPI shows no increase. HA!

Meanwhile our wonderful gonvernment just passed its massive trillion dollar spending with earmarks galore INCLUDING a 2.5% raise for federal employees!!!!!!!!!

In FACT, if Medicare rates go UP, I/we will see an actual decrease in our disability checks when they deduct the fees to cover that cost!

Aint it just grand?

-G .

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

 HO and N Scale.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Jeff- I'm getting a ONE time increase on my S.S. because I'm still working and paying into it. Jan. check will be the same as Nov.

Jeff:

What a GREAT, heartwarming story!   And just perfect for this time of year.  Thanks so much for sharing it! Bow

I got my annual letter from Social Security, too.  Very weird.  I knew there wouldn't be an increase in benefits this year, but my letter also informed me that if I were under the retirement age and still working and collecting SS, that the difference between what I was allowed to make and my SS benefits would result in a lowering of my benefits to make up the difference--Confused

Hello?  I just turned 70 for cryin' out loud!   Not only that, but SS is still taking a chunk out of my paycheck.   I retired at 65 from one job and started collecting SS with my retirement, then I was offered a job at another high school, which I took--without benefits, as I had them all covered by my retirement from my original job.   Now SS is worried that I might not be the 'proper' retirement age?

Now I've got to contact SS and assure them that I'm older than dirt and DEFINITELY past the 'retirement' age of 67, or whatever they think it is, and whatever I make at my age over my benefits is MINE.  And remind them of the law.

I look at that letter and I'm reminded of an old story--if you put 1,000 Chimpanzees at 1,000 typewriters for 1,000 days, eventually they'll all somehow type WAR AND PEACE, LOL!

Gotta find those Chimpanzees before they screw me over, I guess!  Banged Head

I'm not quitting THIS job because they can't find my birth-date!

Good Evening or for some of you further east, Good Morning!

Well it is getting a little silly here with the cold weather. There is a windchill warning out for tonight and Sunday with values of -42 to -48 and it is the same F or C.  Exposed skin will freeze in 10 minutes or less. You would think people would just stay inside but no, I bet the malls will be crazy tomorrow with packed parking lots. Weirdly my car seems to run better the colder it gets but perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised as it was designed in Sweden.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. As you may know I am planning on building a N scale layout and I had thought I'd go with Unitrack as it supposed to be great stuff in N and so I bought a little of it, as in an oval and one turnout, but now I've had a look at Atlas code 55 and brought a couple of pieces home. Gosh that Unitrack looks really clunky next to the Atlas especially if you put a loco on it. Oh no, another reason for construction delay so I guess I'll just have to console myself with a little buying therapy. It's amazing how many pieces of N rolling stock will fit into a small box.

Tom and Lee, a belated Happy Birthday to you both! Sorry I missed the big party on Friday. Sounds like the cake was a good one.

Tomorrow my wife starts the Christmas dinner prep as she is making the turkey stock for the sauce. It will be a port wine sauce.

Well hope it is a little warmer where you are but then again I guess that wouldn't be hard.

Mornin. Just coffee please and thanks. (chuckling) "Quick Reply". For some of us that's real funny.

Coming into the backstretch for Christmas and only the tree is up. No outside decorations. No shopping even stated. Not really in the spirit this year. Not down or anything, just not really ready I guess.

(slumps down on a stool at the Rivet Counter, (siiiigh))

Chris- Good idea on the storm sirens. Never thought of them. Some aluminum, good idea. As far as the interior you envision, Had you been to my trailer in the ‘80's???????Laugh I also think on this one I'll fab up a tongue. The one that may end up having a bit of junk laying around, but not a whole lot, sort of unkept, will be the travel trailer. I envision a travel trailer that has been added on a larger room or two setting in the back of the park. Don't worry about offending me, I've lived in trailers and know there's trailer trash and there's people who live in trailers, or Manufactured Housing I guess they should be called. Lotta people in run down houses too so not much difference really.

Garry- So you mean the SS recipients made too much money last year? I'll be sure to tell my Mother how well she did. I'm not sure she realizes it. She'll be glad to know! Laugh

Keith- LOL Thanks. Trust me, the camera works equally both ways for me. No, neither trailer is done I must revisit the blue striped one and hope I haven't installed the "glass". If I have then I'll have to mask a bit before continuing. I'm working on an interior with it also. The red one I am going to have just blinds I think. Yes, they did have large windows but it's the size of the frames I was refering to. They are a scale 9" for the big window, 6" for the smaller ones and about 4 or 5" for the door. With the large windows it shows not only the interior, but the other windows inside as well. I don't know for sure yet what I'll do. Maybe block the other window so it appears to be just a wall maybe.

See, this is why most roof's are not attached and no buildings are nestled into the ground. I'm never done with them to the point I can leave it alone. I would stick with one and complete it, but I always seem to have several ways to go and it takes me so long to decide, or I have to sit and think for so long, I just know as soon as I seal up a structure I'll have a better idea and can't get inside without breaking something, so I just put it to the side, so to speak, and start another to keep me occupied. The cycle continues and I have a group of unfinished things. Anybody else have that problem or just me? Maybe I don't want to know the answer.

Yes Jeff, thanks for the story. You too Keith.

Tom- Did you ever think to ask the S.S. Office how come the only people that can't get any information about you from the SSN is them?

Flip- I want to thank you for that little weather blip. (mumbles) "sorry" I bet

Barry- Glad Audrey didn't get hurt worse, but it would be a good idea to have an X-ray. It's not difficult to crack an ankle you know. Better safe than sorry.

Other than Church, don't know what I'll end up doing today. Hopefully get to work in Toddla.... Not going to say it.( but I'm king)

Have a Great Day!!!

Mornin' everyone!

Quick cup of dark Roast coffee for me Flo, I'm on my way to church.

Yep gotta get there early and pull out the name tags for today's bunch of usher volunteers so they can all look official.....  I have the dubious honor of being the "head Usher" for the month of December.   The real fun is trying to get ushers for the Christmas Eve Services and "Low Sunday" after Christmas.  Everyone has family home for the holidays and wants to sit with them instead of being an usher, or has gone out of town to be with family elsewhere.......  Can't say I blame them.  Came home from going out to dinner with my sister laqst night to find a message on my machine that one of my people for this morning is sick....  At 10PM last night I got a lady to agree to be an usher this morning.

Tom, it shouldn't take too much to get the SS situation taken care of.  Probably you need to talk to a "person" at the SS office..........  They tend to be easier to do business with than computers. Whistling

Currently 33°F outside here in the Finger Lakes with a freezing rain advisory......  "Oh joy, oh rapture"  (Tom may know THAT quote.....?)

John (Der) I just posted a couple short videos on the "soddering" thread.  Thought you might be interested.  Your soldering looks great BTW.  I think you have it down pat!

Good morrning.  Its a rainy day today.  A good day to stay in.

Did a lot of running around yesterday.  Didn't do anything else than that.  Today will be watching some football, and just sitting around.

Jeff.....Good work on your car, and a great story!!

Barry.....Sorry about your wife.  We haven't had the "ice" yet.   Hopefully it will get better.

As far as "SS"................I probably won't have any when I get of age.  That will be in about 35 years.  Won't be any left.

Well everybody have a good morning.

Good Morning everybody,

Got up this morning to find everything around here covered in ice. It was an adventure just to get to the garage to break out the calcium chloride. Having finished that chore, I decided todays plans of doing a little railfanning should be cancelled, So I've been reading the papers and drinking coffee. The only other thing on the shedule for today is to finish the Dicken's Village display we have every Christmas. Actually, all that remains to be done is to sprinkle some snow around. I might go next door this afternoon and visit with my friend and neighbor. I brought him home from the hospital yesterday and he's kind of down. Has had some major health problems in the past year.

I don't know what we are having for dinner tonight, but the wife has the crock pot fired up already and it smells pretty good. You folks have a good day...

   "Mornin Chloe.. yup.. coffee~"

Well it poured on us last night.  Pouring rain.  Then winds.. then more pouring rain. I can only imagine Calif Tom .. got dumped on also.

Der John  Keith who was wondering about where Nova Scotia was? If there is confusion, it may be partly because the USA Today weather map (and others too I don't doubt) show nothing north of the 49th EAST of the Maine coast! NS is in the missing bit, along with some of New Brunswick, and all of Prince Edward Island, to say nothing of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as a whole chunk of Quebec   Lol.. I've seen that before.  Its like it doesn't exist.  I've seen it done with Mexico, its like.. well wait.. I might have friends traveling down there or family!  But the real topic was .. lol.. "Where is Nova Scotia  ? .. and How does one get to Nova Scotia .. by sea, ? by air..  or by land?... In the middle of winter."  I said Snow Tractor.

Nova Scotia, its way up there.. where ppl live well over a 100 yrs old.  They do medical studies there .. like ask the ones that are over a 100 yrs old.. "Are you glad that you that you have lived over 100 years?"  It was broken down into basically 4 equal groups.  1 / 4  said NO.  1/4 said yes  1/4 didn't answer .. and that last remaining 1/4  said.. "I'm I a 100 years old ? "

Now Der John.. did you actually go to the ebay site and see that nice fireplace?  I think it went for a little over 250 Canadian dollars... total.. delievered to your door.  Very nice.. one of those you mentioned in the ad.. was a foot by a foot wide.. to sit on your table.. and perhaps start a fire.. when you're all passed out on the couch.   Hey.. gotta catch up on some reading.. perhaps Jeff or some others posted some pics.
