Coffee in a  SOUTHERN  mug, please.

***Jeffrey, those cabeese look cute. Hope you can get that footed healed up. My wife says she uses those wound pumps in the hospital often and they can and do help.

***Jim, nope, didn't see the ad. I will call Home Health back this morning to schedule a time for them to bring the Bipap. My wife views them like the mafia, running a racket to get extra cash out of everyone.

Yesterday was a very long one, helping the wife take her Dad for assesment and then the Docs. By last night my wife said, "Your eyes look really bad". I'm going to need to pursue treatment sooner, rather than later.

Received an email from the Paint Horse Assoc. regarding what looked like an altered/forged document. Turns out that sorry excuse for a human being still has one of the horses we sold him, the one that eluded rescue back then. I replied to the APHA with info regarding this slime ball, the rescuers, and his criminal charges/court stuff/etc... We would love to find that horse and bring her back home. My wife was very upset reading the e-mail. Brought up both of our festering anger towards that monster.

Not much else to report on. Maybe I can finish that last trailer this evening.

Have a good day all.

Hey ya'll.

Got an exam today, so I'm studying at the moment. My grade in this class is real good, so good that if I got a 50 on the exam, I'd end up with a B. The last exam I got a 98 on, this one should have similar results since it's a really easy class.

Jim, yeah, that's true. More money = more trains!!

Lee, If I were to do that, I'd have to get ladders and the end railings since they were busted, maybe end up bending wire to make the railings. I have 7 cabooses, 3 Estended vision, 3 bay window caboose, and 1 CB&Q style wood caboose. I kind of want to balance it out and get some extended vison cabooses or slanted coupla cabooses. The offset slanted coupla caboose bachmann puts in some trainsets is one I've been trying to get since it's a Q prototype. I know a few SF guys, and they have some of those sitting in their junk boxes.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good morning all,

Jim, the PRR Lake Front dock here in Cleveland had 4 machines, not sure about other docks in Lake Erie.  I need to get some more walk around throttles before I buy more Huletts.

Those bobber cabooses are still made by Bachman, not much has changed since TYCO made them.  I have one painted red as my yard transfer caboose and I have one to pint yellow for the docks.

Flip, You can get a new copy of your DD214 from the county courthouse or the local VA office.

Vincent, paint the caboose and buy some new decals for it. CHAMPS still has some odd and end decals for sale cheap.

Jeff,. Nice cabeese, by the way; does anybody still manufacture those?

Bachmann makes two 2 axle HO Scale bobbers. Both are in the 'Silver Series' and have blackened metal wheels, body mounted couplers and non-magnetic axles so there's no lurching over uncoupling magnets. They come in two designs. One is the Maryland and Pennsylvania (Product #18439) and is red and the other is yellow and unlettered (Product #18447). Both retail for $15 each. There are some differences between the old and new designs. The newer models have two windows on each side and two windows in each side of the cupola whereas my older models have three windows on each side and four windows in each side of the cupola.

Ray, excellent to hear that your sister's cats now (ahem....) are not biting the hand that feeds them. Wink

Think I hear the switcher's engine revving up - I'd better grab hold of something sturdy before the engineer and Bama get things rolling. See you all at the new location in the morning!

Hey all, looks like we're about to move, I see the switcher backing down on us to stage us up again and our wonderful diner staff is squaring everying away.  Nothing to update on, just been busy with w**k and one of my other joys during this time of year, hunting!  Haven't gotten anything yet, but sitting out in the woods enjoying all the splendor that the Man upstairs has provided is at least stress relieving.  The girls (Amy included) are doing very well, just getting ready for Christmas.  And I guess that I will get the new place opened up if no one else has...

Evening, Chloe - I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a Rio Grande mug of decaf, please, 'n' thanks.

Jeff Keith's post on the update for your trip to the doctor. Not wanting to offend you, but from that description, your week (medically speaking) sucks (no, I'm not referring to the wound thing.. small attempt at lightening up there). Think I will widen the range of my AngelAngel some... Hopefully the MRI will show your hairline fracture as needing not a lot more done (other than immobilizing it as much as possible). Good to hear you don't have that fiery antibiotic 'stuff' to take now. Please do your best to avoid overdoing (yeah, I know the odds of that happening, from what little I know of you). Nice cabeese, by the way; does anybody still manufacture those?

Sawyer, hope you did great (and continue to do so) on your exams this week. Thumbs Up

Vincent - congrats on the additions to your rolling stock. I don't have any Genesis, but yeah, sometimes the RTR can more prototypical on stirrups and details, but (IMHO) too fragile. Just remind yourself on the additional hours of all that additional MRR'ing My 2 cents you'll be getting, right?

Flip, surely you could sneak a (virtual) red velvet cake or so to the Diner every so often, right? Just tell Deb how much we would love her baking... DinnerSmile,Wink, & Grin

Rob, there was an article on a new kind of CPAP mask on the news tonight - did you catch it? I think it might've been prepared by CBS national (though it ran during our local late news).

I got almost all of the ornaments up on my tree tonight, and the small decorations (that go under the tree). Yeah!! (Next, I need to put the boxes back in the closet...) Whistling

About time for me to head off to bed, so I'll see you all in the morning.

Blessings and prayers,

Evenin' folks!

Zoe just a cup of decafe to help me unwind.......  I'll be in the back booth by the stove keeping warm.

Went up and took care of my sisters cats this afternoon.  Monet Maria her monster cat actually came over to me and let me scratch her head.....  This is an absolute first for when my sister is gone.  She may have finally figured out I'm not to blame and without me coming to the house, she doesn't get fed.  When I got there her outside cat, Mr. Fluff was waiting on the porch next to an empty food dish.  He had that, "Oh no!  What will I do, my human hasn't fed me....." look.  I got him some dry food, then fed the other cat, and came back out with some canned food for him.  He had already eaten about a quarter of the dry food so I guess he was hungry.  He came right back over and gobbled up the canned food before I left.

Finished up 2 more of the flat cars today.  They got decaled for the SLO&W, then hit with a coat of Dullcoat, and got Kadee Couplers and trucks.  I will start making loads for them and weathering them soon.

Came upstairs to find that we were getting some lake effect sn*w.  Have about 1" so far.  May get 3" tonight.  Just enough to make everything look white and Christmasy.

Jeffrey, glad your off the antibiotics for the moment at least.  Hope the new treatment does the job and gets everything healed up.  Also glad they found the cause of all the pain you've been having.

Hope you all have a great evening!

Jeff,  thanks for the update I was concerned.

Robby P., your package is on the way as we speak.  Last time, it took less than 48 hours to arrive.  It should arrive Thurday or Friday at the latest.   As far as the packing.. well we see.  Keith

Hey ya'll. I'll take a bottle of vault since I'm wiped out...

Work called me at 4am asking if I could come in 2 hours early. So I went, think I would be working 4am to 3pm. Then I end up having to stay till 4pm. So I got a 12 hour shift with no breaks. Is that even legal in florida and should I get OT pay for that?

I got a box the other day of some new cars, all athearn RTR and one Genesis, for a whopping $30. I got a SSW PS2 covered hopper, a ITC gondola, a SF bay-window caboose, and a Genesis MP 60' box. The genesis boxcar is NICE, but as I feared, frail. Upon removal from it's box one stirrup broke off and flew into the unkown, but leaving the nut plate. Thinking fast, I grabbed a long grab iron and superglued it to the car, right where the stirrup came off. It's just the right size, and the metal grab iron isn't going anywhere. I'll probably get rid of the caboose though, can't explain a SF caboose on the BN.

Cape Jim- When Deb makes the pecan pies and the red velvet cake, she chases me out of the house so I wont cut into them.  Got my new notice from UNsocial INsecurity. Not only is it not going up, they are taking out $23 per month. Ah yes, change.

Just found my DD 214. Thought it got lost during Andrew. It does have some water stains.

Prayers for all and warmer weather.

Good afternoon. It's 48, cloudy and windy. It's said that the high will be in the mid 50's but I don't tink it'll make it.

I've been at the wound care center. They cleaned up the wound, got the built up scab tissue off the edges so it'll heal faster. Then they were gonna hook the wound vac up to it but they found a line in the instructions that says it can't be put on within 24 hours of a debridement (cleaning of the wound) because it would vacuum the blood out through the edges of the wound, which could be a bad thing. On another note, he stopped the antibiotic treatments. Yippee! I was sick and tired of them making me sick and tired all the time. He also had a new round of X-rays done and found that my right shin bone has a stress fracture right above the ankle. No wonder it's hurting. He wrote me up a prescription for hydrocodone to ease the pain. A Home Health nurse is supposed to come out tomorrow to hook up the wound vac and I also have to go to the hospital to have a doppler scan done on my right leg to see if there are any clots. As if that wasn't enough, Thursday I have to go to the eye and laser center in town to have my eyes dilated so they can see if my diabetes has caused any damage to the retinas, then in the afternoon I have to get a MRI done. See what an interesting life I have? Now, to get this on to trains, I received two Bachmann bobbers (2 axle caboose) in the mail this morning. I had seen a photo of them on another forum and commented that they looked almost identical to the cabooses on my very first HO layout. The owner asked me if I wanted them and I said YES and he sent them. It should really surprise my rivet counting neighbor the next time he comes over and sees one of them bobbing along behind my heavy freight. His reaction will probably be priceless!

Audrey suggested that you phone up a fabric store near you and ask them--she knows that there is a few out there---she also said that a simple tacky glue---like Ailene's might work as

Barry, I think that was a question I'd asked Robby - but thanks for the answer, anyway (of course, I'm still wondering how you get it 'rectangular'...). Have saved/written down the name and I'll check at a fabric store or Wally-World's fabric section.

Flip, you just need Deb to bake a few goodies for Vinnie and 'the girls' and bring them in with you next time. Works for Ulrich with Petra's goodies, so it oughta do the trick for you. Wink

Was looking at the topic on 'multiple bridges' - Calif. Tom should enjoy that one (or anyone needing/wanting longer (or just unique) bridges.

Still awaiting word back from Jeff on his doctor's office trip today. Jeff?

Back to my sketching for now...

Jim- My hours prevent my diner appearances as often as I'd like. And you know Vinnie still has it in for me. Had my semi-annual checkup. Everything in good order. My meds keep the bad stuff from attacking. Doc says I'm gonna live till I die.  I say, when God wants me.

Deb doing fair. Going for more neck cutting, #1 and 2. She is calm. Me,I'm nervous. Heck, I'm scared. Seen first hand what teeniest slip can do. As for the P.B.C. liver problem, down to 2 to 4 years.

Prayers for all

Robby P.
Also make sure you don't use a "harsh" glue.  Seems like "testors" made the plastic warp. I ended up going with a cheap glue, kind used for cloth.  I used the glue for the spacers.

Robby - what glue for cloth? Never heard of that (but then again, I don't do a lot of fabric/sewing, either). And how do you get the glue on the spacers to stay put in rectangular form? Also, what'd you use for the tie-downs? It looks bigger than plain ol' thread from here...

Any and all answers would help greatly (the photos by themselves helped already). Thanks! Bow

Jim.........Hope these pictures help.  I seem to have deleted some pictures from the computer of the loads I made.  All I have left is these "junk" pictures.

Not sure on the size of the styrene, but I went with this size due to its already cut to about 2 inchs wide.  I wouldn't have to cut them to size.   Also make sure you don't use a "harsh" glue.  Seems like "testors" made the plastic warp. I ended up going with a cheap glue, kind used for cloth.  I used the glue for the spacers.

Good Afternoon, Zoe - I'll have an open roast beef sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes, a garden salad and a RBF, please. Thanks!

Goodness, a bunch of the 'older' Diners (well, have been with the Diner as long as I have (ahem... cough...) have been by - Flip's getting fairly regular (about stopping by, that is! Whistling), JP's been in a few times lately, and now I see Bill T. has been by again. Good to see you, Bill!

The cold front moved through last night, so we're about 34 F (1 C) currently, maybe will reach 36 F (2 C) by this afternoon. None of that white stuff falling in the sky, just sunshine (it'll fool you if you've been inside for a while and go outside) and breezey wind chill of 24 F (-4 C). Shorts weather for our NOTB neighbours...Wink

JR, thanks for the tip on the molds (and what materials for what thickness/use). Yeah!!

Alright, Todd - you realize with your 'MESSing'(TM) about, that when Fergie does come by the Diner, he'll be expecting royalties from ya for using his RR's name, right?Smile,Wink, & Grin Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me about the (future) problem with those skirts on the NuComp buildings - I will need to do some fiddlin' around to see how best to attach them.Confused And your latest spotting of locos might just allow me an excuse for some other lines on my layout...(heh, heh, heh...)

Barry, Audrey might just have a good idea there about her anchor 'mooring post'. Wink At least she has a good sense of humour in dealing with THAT...

Hadn't seen any posts from Jeff today, so I'm guessing he's still at the doctor's. Hopefully Angel all is going well there.

Lee - FOUR Hulletts in a row?Shock How big will your unloading facility be? Cleveland size? Wow!!

Ray, (if I'm recalling your last cat-sitting episode correctly,) I'm guessing you have your combat vest to wear when you stop by your sister's to feed THAT cat?

Keith - you have 'issues'? Do you need some counseling? Oh, not those kind of issues... BlushOops Sorry 'bout that!

Jerry, do you still have any of that white stuff on the ground up your way?

This morning I went in to the office - needed to finish, print out and run a 'risk assessment' letter by my supervisor, get it signed off on, fax it to the requesting agency (and to the client's attorney also). So now, the rest of the day is MINE (Yay!) to make use of.

Next, I went by a local (sorta) hobby shop (it's actually more a R/C aircraft place, but they have some stuff I can re-purpose (forgot which Diner came up with that term, but I'll reuse it...) for MRR'ing stuff. I had seen an article in MR (or maybe it was in a topic in one of the forums?) about making gondola 'pipe' loads from 1/16" tubing, and wanted to pick up some for that. I also was looking for some L-shaped styrene for the church I'm 'scratchbashing'. The walls are supposed to be wood (board & batten, IIRC), and I needed the L's for the outside corners where they meet. I also got looking at some I-beam and H-beam shapes, and picked up a package of each (more prosective loads for MRR cars). I figure I can make some loads in an evening or part of a day, maybe do some from flat styrene like somebody here (Lee? Robby?) made - the sheet metal stacked loads for flatcars. Hopefully, I'll get some progress going and have some photos to post before long. I've been yammering too much without any pics to show for it...Banged Head

I'll be at the corner booth, sketching out some plans and ideas and schemes (oh, my!)...

Blessings and prayers for healing,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Zoe, I need a refill of dark roast myself.  Please and Thank You!

Busy time of year, eh, Barry? At least with that little kitty cat of yours, you can hold him in your arms and type at the same time.  When Manét or Blackie climb up, everything stops until they have decided to go elsewhere..........  They also love to climb up on the keyboard itself and just look at me.   Today, I might be laying track.  I have several issues.. some of which I will find out when I am doing it.  But my question is.. 'Anyone care to tell me the pitfalls first?  Before I go ahead and do them? Is there a check off list ?
Thanks Keith

Issues huh?  Well Kieth a couple of the biggest are: 1. Make sure there are no kinks where you join sections together.  By kink I mean having the track suddenly change direction.  even a degree or two will cause you a lot of Banged Head.  2.  Make sure you have no "S" curves.  When you change the direction of a curve, try to have at least one car length of straight track between the curves.

I went down cellar this morning, turned on the heat, filled the humidifier, switched on the layout lighting, sanded lightly the decking (finished painting last night) on the 2 flat cars.  Ready for a nap already........  May do some decal w**k before heading over to my sister's house to feed her monster cat.

Later!

Mornin' everyone!  Oh look Bill is here.... and Philip too!!!  Man the place is busy this morning.  That's great!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes this morning with a side of Turkey Sausage and my usual pot of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug.  What?  Yep the NYS Maple Syrup would be perfect.  I'll go keep Todd company at the Rivet Counter.

It is dark and gloomy 40°F outside here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  The high will 39°F.  Hmmmmmm.  Yep that is what Weather.com says!  Were going to have some rain showers this morning transitioning to the solid type of water showers this afternoon.  Partly cloudy tonight with 1 to 3" of "partly cloudy" on the ground by morning.........

Today and for the next two and a half weeks I get to drive over to Canandaigua to feed my sister's cat(s).  Luckily I am more or less caught up with the "seasonal" duties and will actually have some time to w**k on the layout.

Went to the Cub Scout Pack Committee meeting last night.  The Cubmaster and Committee Chair (his wife) are getting frustrated by the lack of attendence from the leaders at meetings.  Less than half of them came last night.  They do very likely have a new "Chartering Partner" for the pack (The schools have dropped them as they have been sponsoring 2 packs and they kept the larger one).  The change has to do with a reorganization of the elementary schools here in Geneva this year.  They loose their charter end of January 2010, so the paperwork has to be done before the first of the year in order to keep them running with no interruption.

Best get moving!  Catch you all a bit later.

JR,

You are correct, that's the Walther's kit, but they forgot the handrails at the top of the bucket arm so those were added.  Hulett #2 is in the paint shop getting yellow on the handrails right now, hopefully it will be on the layout Saturday.  I think 4 in a row would be cool.  Those kits take about 22 hours to assemble and paint.  That one is sitting on a 36" x 96" bench.  I'll have a 36" radius lead into the ore dock with 4 tracks under the Huletts.  I have two 8" x 60" ore freighters to place on the dock face.

GMTRacing
I suppose there is a prototype for just about anything.

If you hang around long enough, you'll probably see just about anything. You're right. I've already got to cross eras with tourist trains, now if I can just justify fallen flags!

It's not uncommon to see CN mixed in or running alone on that track. Once I've seen CSX, but I've never seen a BNSF before yesterday. I assume that's what it was based on the color. Like I said, it was between grain bins and I only saw the loco after the cab. (Looked down for a second. Wasn't expecting 3) No road name, no number. Just the green with black top.

Looking at the track maps I would assume they (BNSF) may have decided it was cheaper to lash into a UP freight going north there, than to travel east and then north on their own. Or, like you said, somebody got a new toy and haven't painted it yet. Just like me!! I'm prototypical!!!

Zoe, coffee please. I'll be at the Rivet Counter! (Zoe mumbles under her breath,"yeah, just don't get too comfortable")

Morning guys!

Hawaii Kona Coast hazlenut coffee in a Chessie mug please.

Not much to report. Today I have PT for my back. That will hurt so good.

Ordered Fresh Pineapples form Hawaii yesterday, should be here in a day or two. They are for Christmas gifts to go with the Hawaiian Kona coffee we got. The pineapples from Hawaii are sweeter than the ones in the grocery stores that come from Costa Rica and other places. They are also hard to get off the island and are relatively expensive at $10.50 a piece plus shipping and handling. They are hard to get because all of the pineapples grown in Hawaii are used in Hawaii for food, feast and Luaus. You have to know the secret to ordering them, OR pick them up when visiting Hawaii. We want to go back to Hawaii, but only after buying  MRR space covered by a house, and two new cars, and having the cash to go back, maybe this time on a cruise around the islands. The pineapple, is a "welcome sign" of hospitality.

We have some shopping ot do too, though I think we shop separately as Christmas shopping needs to be doen separately. WE agreed NO trains stuff this year.

Prayer candle will be lit for part of the day for those in need, Like Jeffery W. and others.

Well, perhaps I will check in later.

Have a great day guys!
