Hi GIZ,

33 and about 2 inches of SNOHIO.

Had a nice walk with the dog in my winter wonderland last nite and this morning.  Lots o SNOHIO on the trees, still have their leaves on.  Looks nice though.

All have a good one.

Yep, got them on ebay from one of our posters here, 4 KITTIES.  They run great.

G'morning from a misty and cold Chicago where I am glad I am not going to O'Hare today.

Jim F, that Riddle wiring book is great. It is almost as if Bob 'Lionelosi' was there in the room with me. Wink [;)] I check it out of our library on a regular basis (have to encourage them with the toy train stuff).

Kurt and Doug, you're way ahead of me on the holiday layouts. Hope you can post pictures soon.

Phila, congratulations on the move to SWAT. If half the stories of my friends on the Chicago PD tactical team are true, it's an interesting job.

Brent, I like instant-replay in the NFL but that was a bizarre situation - especially when you could see it still on the big screen right behind the ref.

Laz, what is wrong with our Bears?

Good morning.  Great coffee this am, Mitch.

I hear school has been delayed out east due to the snow and ice.  Smile [:)]

Brent - you really need to work more on restoring the roar.  I would suggest you ask Susan for $1000 to give to PSU instead of buying some new trains for Christmas.  Whistling [:-^]

We are sorry to see old Lloyd, "We Can Beat Him" Carr call it quits.  Sad [:(]

Miki C - You mentioned going to a cabin.  Is this one of those great little cabins tucked away in the hills of Southern Indiana?

Might hit the LHS today while I near Lancaster, OH.  Great shop.

What was the name of that nice piece of land in Mike C's Indiana - ah yes, the Limberlost swamp / forest. Not sure it's there anymore. It would be a nice place for a cabin. I read stories to the younger ones about it from let's see, Gene Stratton Porter - oh, the memory is sharp today. Or other more modern stories about that part of IN by author (and Quaker pastor) Philip Gulley.

Do you have to donate to other colleges to get the chance to buy football tickets? I have to do so with Notre Dame - which I haven't in a dozen years.

Doug - The Limberlost is in Northeast Indiana near Rome City.  The Boy Scout camp was nearby where I attended as a kid.  At OSU you need to buy them a building to get tickets.

As an employee at OSU, I get the chance, based on seniority and payscale, to buy tickets at a slightly discounted employee rate.   Each year you get closer and closer to the 50 yard line in the front row, depending on demand.  Some people right on the cusp get bumped out...depends on the demand.

For PSU you have to donate to the Alumni Association, or be a faculty or staff member.  Then there is the per-game allotment that is given to the visiting school.  IF the visiting team does not sell all their tickets by a certain date, then those tickets are returned to PSU and then all remaining tickets are then sold by the ticket office on a first come first serve basis.

So it is:
Number of total seats - Season Tickets - Student Tickets - Sold Visiting Team Tickets = number of tickets available for single game ticket sales...

For Notre Dame tickets you do not get 'Season Tickets' you are placed into a pool from which you are offered the to buy the tickets (you may get offered to buy every game, but you are not gauranteed the same seat), unless you were part of the group when Season Tickets were sold, then you are offered your seats on a yearly basis.

Not sure how other schools do it, but I think it is more like PSU - at least it sounds like it based on what Wes posted above...

Buckeye and Doug M.,

The cabin was in a city park in New Castle, Indiana.  The New Castle area is referred to as "Raintree County" sometimes.  There was some book by that name that was based on that area of Indiana.  If the smoke had gone up the flue, we would have been ok, but when we opened the doors to let the smoke out, the heat went with it.  Still, it was a nice day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hey Chief, since Yankee ribbing appears to be one of your favorite hobbies, here's one you will enjoy.

When a man in Rolesville, NC, came upon a wild dog attacking a young boy, he quickly grabbed the animal and throttled it with his two hands. A reporter saw the incident, congratulated the man and told him the headline the following day would read, "Local Man Saves Child by Killing Vicious Animal."

The hero, however, told the journalist that he wasn't from Rolesville.

"Well, then," the reporter said, "the headline will probably say, 'North Carolina Man Saves Child by Killing Dog.'"

"Actually," the man said, "I'm from Ohio."

"In that case," the reporter said in a huff, "the headline will read, 'Yankee Kills Family Pet'."

Hi all, Started getting some paint on the ceiling in the garage and shower room tonight. Really looking forward to making a start on the layout.

Oh for those who wondered about the "Cooper" in Mini Cooper here's a link.

http://www.mini.com/com/en/john_cooper_works/

Still not quiet the same as the orignal Mini. Bit like the movie "The Italian Job" really, I prefer the original Michael Cane version. Who can beat the films opening sequence.. Lamborghini Miura V12, Italian Alps, and Matt Monro on the tape deckCool [8D].

Evening Folks,

Nick12DMC - Love the MiniCooper Clubman.  Neat site.  Thanks for posting it.  Not sure if the Clubman is available in the States.

My nephew Brian is getting some trains from Uncle Bob this year for Christmas. Bought a loop of FasTrack at York and dug out some rolling stock and a plastic C&O Steamer that I had stored away.  That and a 1033 transformer should be a fun deal for the little guy.  His folks won't complain too much as the loco doesn't have a whistle.  Would have liked to bought the Thomas set, but that is more than we typically spend for Christmas. We will have to set it up in the basement up on a table due to feline interference. (Cats are too fat to get up  on the table.)  I can't wait.

Busy day at work.  Not much else to report.

Meeting over.  CC meeting went until 6 PM.  I got up and thanked the County Planning Director for her meeting held in Roseyville.  Actually County Manager made her do it.  That made her feel good.  Then I told of a bad article the big newspaper [New and Observer] did Saturday.  Reporter completely misquoted me [everyone knew it as it was opposite from what I have been "preaching" all along.  Well, I told the Commission mabe it was like the guy in the cell phone commercial that call gets dropped while asking his wife something and he thinks she is speachless.  They laughed.  I told them I did not think he was on a cell phone.  It was PPR.  An elderly County Commissioner [who I knew would ask this] said what did PPR mean.  In a low voice into the mike and with out a smile, I said, "**** Poor Reporting."  The room cracked up in total laughter.  During the break, she came to me laughing and said, "Knowing you I should have known."  Rest of County Commissioners meeting when initials were used, they would repaeat the full name and say, Mrs. Ward, that is for you.  So, I brought a little humor to the meeting.

Tomorrow, haircut and trainroom unitl I do the Mayor's retirement party and then Town Board.  Rest time.

Well only lost 3 pounds last week Doc said that it would slow down from here on and expect to "work" at losing more weight according to them I have lost 28.2 lbs but my scales at home say 31 lbs either way for a 4 week time period it is still awsome.

B.P. and B.S continue to drop as I lose pounds.

Hope all is well with everyone.

EVENING ALL

CSXect- good job on the weight loss, I 'm not sure I could get that much will power  together.

Brutus no ice cream tonite, I thought about it but passed.had home made pizza and that was good.

I let the hogwarts x run today, putting together a 2 motor(AC)F3 chassis for my repainted shell, so I let the train run while I was working. Also had a lionel scale Berk running so I had some train sound. better music than the radio to me. Still no trouble with the hogwarts. I don't know about the CW-80 though it's still in the box along with the track. I did peek under the foam and the track is there. Just don't need it for anything.  TTFN, Sir James

Good evening.  Long day, but glad to be home.  Watched the "Trains and Locomotives" show on RFD.  This program was on the C&O 614.  Iron Horse Entertainment was running some great excursions in NJ/NY.  One of those I would like to do some day.  In a few scenes, they go by the HX tower in the meadowlands......I once got to spend a day at the tower with a friend who worked there.  Way cool!

I let the weight get me down physicaly and mentaly I did not want to do anything due to the effort of getting up off the couch and I just barley could tolarate going to work, but I have been energized due to the lose of extra pounds, I am planning on going to some train shows in December in the Columbus area or at least the one in Hillard(Franklin County Fair Grounds not to be confussed with the State fairgrounds in Columbus) I hasve not belonged to COSG in a few years but that will be the area I will hangaround the most as they have a nice semi modular S gauge layout. Hillard is on the 9th of Dec. and the Buckeye show at state fairgrounds on the 8th of dec.

Talked to one of the nurses at the doctors office today (from almost 2 weeks ago well I was wondering about all that blood work they did now I remember from my last time (when I lived in VA.) my cholestrol was like 210 with the bad type around 110 (my personal doctor said it was a little high for him but knows cardioligist(SP) like it around 70 or less) most doctors say 100 or less. well the nurse told me mine was at 81 that means I drop about 30 points okay 29 for the rivit counters. and my blood sugar looked great it was basicly in the middle between low and high and that was right where they wanted it.Big Smile [:D] Now my blood pressure was up the other day but they think it could of been with all the stress /I've been under prior to that day so they said well look at it a few more times and see in the future it wasn't real bad but it was up higher than they liked.  Well it looks like I'm going to be alright and that with the lead all they did was reset it to were it was more sensitive to its readings.

Evening all!

Long day today and another warm one here! 80. But don't worry, Buckeye is sending us some nice cold air for Thanksgiving. High predicted at 50 on Thursday (but this means it will be even colder up nawth!).

Chief - keeping Rosyville safe for democracy?

CSX - good to hear the weight loss is going well. Keep it up!

RT - also good to hear about your cholestrol levels going down. I need to get mine checked. Need to go before the end of Dec as I just heard my Doc is retiring at the beginning of the year. I hate looking for a new GP. The last Doc (before the present one) I had was more wrapped up in technology than treating you.

Dennis - the tower visit in that area is pretty cool.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy
