Good Evening - got up nearly to 80 today, what's with that?  I sent the kids to school in heavy coats too.  Son had scouts tonight and took about an hour to read all the emails and stuff, so just now getting through the pot.

RT (Bill) so glad to hear that you are doing okay!  Great report!

Doug - this is a new book Riddle just put out on track.  It covers good old 027, O, Fastrack, Atlas, Reatrax, Scaletrax, Gargraves, Ross, etc.  I also got a track plan book, but it's only so-so, so won't say which one.

CSXect - congrats on the weight loss and your BP/sugars.  Keep up the good work.  I need to get back on my diet, but have been finding excuses for the past year....  :(

88 - man, sounds like one of my jobs!  I usually have to go back to HD or L about 10 times.  We're getting a Lowes here in town, about 5 minutes from my house.  HD is already about 5 minutes from my house.  This will be good, because when one makes me mad, I switch to the other and then repeat.

SirJames - homemade pizza Dinner [dinner]

Hi and best wishes for all!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Glad to hear everyone has good health news!

I didn't get my wiring done this weekend, got involved with some of those invitations that went like.... I'm going to go to a movie, do you wanna go?? Then on Sunday, "I'm going to the Antique Market after church. You don't HAVE to go if you don't want to, but I wanna go." So my weekend was pretty much taken up.

Did work on the layout tonight for a couple of hours. Wanted to start with the AC power source. Hard wired the AC to a duplex SPST switch w/pilot light. Going to put in a second switch at the opposite end of the layout as a "Panic Button". Got the first one in, and wire routed to the second switch. Will finish tomorrow.  Actually a little disapointed with the intensity of the "pilot light", so will most likely put another one on the control panel.

Re: the above movies, saw Mr. Maqorium's Wonder Emporium (G) IMHO - eh, not much of a story, some good special effects, don't expect it to be around long. Then, saw American Gangster (R) - Really GOOD!! Based upon a true story, 2 1/2 hours long, and was disappointed when it ended.

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

I get that too!  But, when I say I'm going to a train show I get "I haven't gone to one yet why should I start now?"  Confused [%-)]

Finished radius on the Christmas layout base...the radius (outside) looks great, but the inside is so so...I needed a lot of blocking, but it should hold up.  I understand why I don't see more of these.  I didn't think much about losing the corner since it provides a good transition into the living room, but I'm not sure where to locate the skating pond.  Next, onto the uprights for the bridges, and trestles.

Morning to All,

Seems as though Kurt is the early bird today.  That or he hasn't been to bed yet. Had a busy day at work yesterday. Screened applicants for Building Supervisor.  Nine candidates to interview, so I expect we will find one that is accceptable and then have 8 others who are disappointed.

Tomorrow I have a day off.  Hope to get to play with the trains for a while. I am sure there will be a list of honey-do's.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a warm 60 degrees. Going up to 68 today, with clouds and maybe rain later.

Today, we are going to Zanesville, for the wife's Doctor appt. Looks like all is healing well. Maybe get the bandage off. She is walking better. It's been a long 12 days, since the surgery.

No time for trains. Need to get busy with scenery, soon.

Dining Car has arrived early. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and warm in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  I did weights and a track run at the YMCA, then came home and watched Helio on "Dancing with the Stars".  It will be really interesting to see who goes home tonight.  Bran muffins were on the dining car as it arrived from "Points East" early this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning All

Overcast and misty out this morning.

I was able to get the siding on the two long sides of the garage addition yesterday, 17 sheets of T1-11.  Hope to finish the end today.  Trusses are to be delivered Wednesday.  Grand kids up last evening.  Ran trains and played.  Lots of fun.  Grandkids have to be the payoff for raising their parents.

Well, it is pretty final.  I will not be able to get off for the benefit train show in Portsmouth this year, bummer.  Our layout will be there.  Oh well after this year with my rotation I will not have to work Thanksgiving or Christmas for the next 5 years.

Has anyone heard from CSXJohn?

CSXect- Congrats on the continued weight loss, keep it up.  Got any more info on the hours of that train show?

May God bless

Kurt - typically when I am doing radii I will use layered plywood.  If you can find it the 1/8 inch stuff bends beautifully - if not - cut knotches in the back side of 1/4 inch every 1/2 inch or so... bends great... just go slow.

Don and Kurt - I typically get 'Why can't you stay home and do your own thing... I spend too much time with you as is!' Shock [:O] 'OK I'll go to the trainshow / trainstore!' Big Smile [:D]

RT - Congrats on the Health News!

---

Grouted the tub surround last night... concerned that the grout is a different color because when I checked this morning it was still brown and not Antique White... if this is a different color I don't know what to do... parents are coming in this weekend and we need to have this bathroom operational... tub could wait, but the vanities have to go in and they will be in the way of finishing the tub... shower, toilet, and vanities MUST be done... could always take the vanities out to finish the tub, but that is more work than I really want...

Have to get this done because I have to start work on the christmas layout soon... next weekend is shot because I have to go to Columbus to pick up a snow blade for my tractor... Buckeye et all snOhioans, not sure how much time I'll have, but maybe hook up for lunch or something... blade pickup is supposed to be at the Reynoldsburg Cracker Barrell.

Good morning from a warm and misty Chicago where the temp is supposed to peak at 60ish before crashing tomorrow just in time for the holiday. Glad for the health news, esp. Mme. Blueberry. Thumbs Up [tup]The bride went out to a meeting last eve. so I spent the evening cleaning up the basement - still in a shambles after a series of visits from youngsters who don't quite know how to pick up. Ran the trolleys in the background. Should be quiet here at work the next few days. I think I've decided to get a new small car to replace the dying one. I was just figuring out how to pay for it Wink [;)]Going to call the church to see if they want the old one - there's a group of guys who fix them up and give them to single moms - at least the battery and all four tires are brand new.

Jim F, I didn't know Riddle had a new book out on track. That is cool! I was referring to his wiring book which I love.

I'm not sure what today will bring, I am still helping wife with the kitchen. She's doing a little at a time with the shopping started and thur. holiday. the good side is just move things were needed and then put back. no big mess.

If we put up a tree I usually flop some track around it and a station. the big decision is "O" or the christmas "G". My tradition is just a loop.  See ya later,,,Sir James

Know the routine, originally BP 140/90 & cholesterol 220 with good/bad flipped.
I'm now on Caduet (cholesterol / BP combo) Cholesterol down to 155 & BP 120's/78.
Nice thing about Caduet, it's only one prescription instead of two.

I had BP of 140+/90+ two years ago.  I guess Diet alone has fixed it.  I eat a lot of Chipotle, and stopped drinking pop/soda.  That seemed to take care of it on it's own.

I used the 1/2" cabinet ply on hand for the rough in, realized I made the subframe exactly 8'-0" long...now I need a 10'-0"  1x to compensate.

I did the notches in the pack of the ply, very difficult to get the right depth...too little, and it won't bend, too much and you don't get a smooth bend.  I'll use your 1/8" ply idea if I can find it.  Good Tip!  The 1/8" will come in handy for layering bridge abutments as well!

Here's what I'm trying to recreate:

Bought 1-1/2" x 2'x8' ($10/sheet) foam today, that has a lap edge, that should make easier connections.  I don't have a wire cutter, since I'm not planning to use much of this so I will cut with a saw....Hope to try running trains to check sound levels today, I may add a layer of Soundsoak.

Good Afternoon -

Slow day (week) at work, get office cleaned and a lot of little things done.  Sure would like to be home working on layout.  And Dennis you are so RIGHT, so much to be thankful for!!!!

Thought I would throw up some pics from last week.  Chris and I took our Steam Stable down to the club layout for a photo shoot.

L/R - MTH NYC  0-4-0 Switcher, K-Line Shay, MTH Mikado, MTH NW J, MTH RK Big Boy, Lionel Cab Fwd, Lionel Big Boy

These guys only go down when no else is there, to many catastrophes happen when a lot of others around.  Typically we run the Cotton Belts. (K-Line)

Last pic of the new BB before it went back for a internal wiring problem.

Did have some good news this morning.   Had a speaker go out last week.  Found it!  Even though the engine is underwarranty, cost of shipping more than the speaker.  That Service Center in Co. had it and will ship today.  So the 6399 will once again sing.

Hope I havn't bored anyone with all the pics.  Need to do something constructive, in the office.

But, I certainly wouldn't think it was intimidated.  It has had a had a "special" spot reserved for it,  INSIDE the engine shed, right next to the Cab Fwd.  And here I thought it would be the "Alpha" engine on the layout.  Not the case, its was just wimpering, maybe it was on a spy mission.   We will give it another chance.

Great photos Don!

Don't buy the lapped 2'x8' foam...vertical lap is off by 3/16".  I had to cut the center section lap down to get them to line up evenly...not pretty.  Also, the tube of adhesive I bought had something wrong with it.  The center of the tube seemed soft enough to still be good, but bottom of the tube wouldn't move in the calk gun, and bent the tube in half...Angry [:(!]

Off to the other home store...It's not worth my time to complain about a $2.50 tube of adhesive.  I should have gone shopping with the Mrs!  I did mention the Brasseur train store is right down the road from the outlet stores....We'll have to see if I'm allowed to peek in the bags when she gets home.
