HI GIZ,

39 and snowing here, big flakes!

Well went pheasant hunting yesterday with the BROTHER.  We were in the switch grass big tall stuff, and put one out, it flew about 200 yards into a hedgerow.  So we went after it got down were it went in and sure enough it got up right in front of me.  I threw up my model 12 Winchester 16 gauge, took off the safe and didn't want to shoot it in the rear.  So took aim on the head and antisipated the bird flying upward shot and missedDA!  Pumped another one in the chamber and shot agin but bird was to far and SMOKED another one DA!  It Went back to the switch grass so me and the brother went after it we put it up again but got up really wild.  Oh well just another memory.  Came home had fire ate burgers and dogs had a few beverages and then went to bed.

  GO BEARS!

SCRATCH nice to see you back, up NORTH.

  CHIEF, LOL nice pic.

All have a good one, keep your powder dry and watch your topknot.

Personally, as a relatively newer member, I've found this thread pretty useless and in fact kinda detrimental to my achieving what I set out to achieve by joining and participating in this forum.

TRAINS is the only thing I log in for...Way too much other stuff going on in here, and even when trains do get discussed in this thread, who wants to dig through all the "Peyton Place" episodes to read about them?

I feel all the other threads are starting to be less train related too as the "Coffee" spills over into those threads too.

My suggestion:  kill this baby before it gets too ugly; and all you old timers with the mondo post histories start posting some good old fashioned classic toy train operating and collecting stuff.  If you're fresh out of ideas take a break from the forum for a couple weeks and play with your trains then come back.

I have a pal with that name, drinks like a drain with teeth. It's not just toy trains I joined the pot for, but the pleasure of hearing how people over the pond live their lives. It's the friendly banter that makes this forum special for me.

That's what sold me on Lionel, not high folutin tech talk and science induced confusion.

I was thinking Childe Roland to the Dark Tower has come! Laugh [(-D]

Well, ran out to Toys R Us for a Wii for Christmas - we were number 100 in line and the first 95 got one Sad [:(]  Oh well, we were dang close.  I didn't see any toy trains for sale, I thought they might have the HWX or PE set?!  Lionel should push that and have a demonstrator set up running to get the kids excited, too!

Good morning from a cold and grey Crystal Lake where I simply must bag the leaves today. It drizzled all day yesterday so the pile will be nice and heavy and wet.

On the way home from church I heard a Lionel ad on the radio! 'Remember your train set when you were a kid - come to x hobby store' - it was so unexpected.

Roy, my sister lives in Hoboken. I love the way they're redone the ferry slip and transit center - with a huge Lackawanna sign.

The daughter broke up with her boyfriend of two years last night - much drama - then locked her keys in my car - so I had to drive all over town to find her and the car. She is too eager to go back to him. That little car looks to be dead - or at least not able to drive safely with the brakes and struts failing. So that will be an unexpected Christmas expense... Anybody heard of a Yaris or Versa? These car names...Wink [;)]

Well good news for the police dept. I got detailed to the SWAT unit. Wish me luck guys. Pop was with them since they began in Philly back in 1966.

Went to the TCA show here in Philly this morning and picked up a Lionel Pennsy GP-9 8357 for 70 bucks with box and paperwork. Engine is in great shape, box shows some wear.

Got the Hogwarts Express yesterday but saving that for Christmas for Carmen to open. I bought myself the K-Line Daylight Pass car set with the add-ons. They look great behind my Lionel Daylight engine.

Well I got to run and pick up some uniforms from my Sgt. See you later

Good afternoon everyone,

I got up early this morning to take the dog out. It was raining (and it still is). So today is basically the day where I sit inside and do absolutley nothing.

PhilaKnight, congrats on the baby, and now the detail to the SWAT unit. Good luck with everything. My aunt is a detective.

Well, I'm off to do absolutley nothing, and that I am very good at.

Afternoon all!

Good day today. Early church and then 4 hours of yardwork (leaves - leaves - leaves). Now cooling down and gearing up for NASCAR and Cowboys!

Gonna be 80 here today and through Wed night. Did the yard in shorts and a t-shirt!

Have a great afternoon all - Cowboys - 9 and 1 today?

For the last couple of days, I have tried to post my thoughts about the Chief's new outfit, but I start laughing so hard that I can't type.  That photo is definitely in the running for one of the top ten postings of the year.

Painted my bridge this afternoon.  Krylon paint worked real well on the plastic. Dried very quickly, even at 45 degrees.

Roy, how can you have leaves when you live in the desert?  Eighty degrees is obscene.

Doug, Toyota Yaris, being a Toyota it will probably be 100% reliable. You guys might laugh at the engine options though. 1.0 litre, 1.3 litre or a 1.8 litre SR sport model.

If she is looking for "street cred" how about a Mini(doing my bit for UK exportsWink [;)])?

Texas switched places with NC this summer.  They got too much rain and when I flew in the other month, they were mowing and everthing was GREEN.  Now in NC, no mowing and everything was brown.

Just back from the pond feeding the deer.  They were waiting for me when I came back out.  Got feeding places at the pond and then at the bottom of the solid rock I drive up from the pond.  They walked away but would not come back out for 15 minutes.  I sat at the top of the hill with everything off and waited.  Place was full of foxes running around like cats.  Think it is time for the .17 and the squalling rabbit tape.  Thin a few out.

Later.

Good luck with the foxes, Chief.  Son was eating some chicken and lost a tooth!  Short version of the story, he was still hungry, but didn't want chicken, so we told him to go find something soft to eat.  He came back in a little while with a sandwich - a KETCHUP sandwich!  Laugh [(-D]

Doug, I saw a lady driving a Mini-Cooper the other day and they had a large wind-up key mounted on top, I am not kidding.  It was so cool!

EVENING FOLKS

They use to but those big keys on the back of VW bugs, some had a Rolls Royce grill. very neat.

Brutus- I've had my ice cream and pie but we still have some for you. you will have to share with Chewy though. That P&D store is  the forth move, I worked in all four. The first one was about the size of a pizza take out store. each move was to a larger bldg. It would take a while to order lionel parts if it was a remake from the 50s as some parts use the original number and some would have a new number so i would spend a lot of time finding part numbers for what I needed to get.If you ordered wrong it would come back no stock. too many like that they just returned the whole thing unfilled. One of those "I remember when"   Sir James
