Doug, that was a good one. Didn't know you had that in you.
Well, back from Town Hall. Where did the morning go. Upstairs I go to get room of tubs moved to under layout in big room. Did run Big Boy last night for a few ands it runs great. Smokes me out. Glad I put in exhaust fan in ceiling. Wife had filled back of truck with limbs and trimmings to haul away. Later.

I got to thinking about my last post...
I hope I didn't offend anyone, that was not my intention. I apologise if I did.
To clarify: I do not have a 'day-job', I am a stay-at-home Dad. I do everything I can to take care of everything around the house, so my wife, who works around the clock, can come home, relax, and spend time with our family.

Mornin/Afternoon All !
Kurt, After I was "downsized" I did some cabinet making here at the house but spent 99+% of my time as a "house hubby". Since I did the cooking already it worked out great, a whole lot better than my cabinet work.
Well I finally finished up the Christmas layout enough that I could clean all of the assembly/decorating junk out of the living room. There are still a few little things to do after Thanksgiving, just some little touches here n' there. This morning was clean up the train room, I swear it looked as though someone had turned it upside down and shook it.
Tomorrow will be very busy with my bread making and turkey n' trimings prep so just wanted to wish everybody
Happy Thanksgiving !!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Cheated on my diet today we had a pizza party at work today I only ate 4 slices.
sir james I wrote:Kurt- it's good that you are able to stay home with the kids. most families today, everybody works.(outside the house)
That was planned from the start...
We bought a small starter house that we could afford on one of our incomes. We both were looking for new jobs at the same time a few years ago, and my wife was offered the better deal. So I stayed home, and remodeled our house just before our first child.
We can't afford all the 'stuff' our friends do, but we don't argue about who has to pick the kids up from daycare either.
So far it's working for us.

Amen to that! I'm sure I'll be working soon enough. I had 2 offers this year and didn't apply for anything...
Cranberry Tort didn't work...Youngest plumbing not working...a lot crying, and had to make cranberry preserves from scratch...too much going on at once. Top of torte burned inside needed to cook another 20-minutes. Very tasty though...
Sir James: Whatdayamean doesn't count????
Evening all
I think it is wise for a parent, either one to stay home and get the kids off to the right start. The extra income from both working often gets consumed by extra car, gas clothes, daycare, doctors visits due to being in the germ pool called daycare, taxes not to mention stress. I our case, my bride is an RN. When the kids came along she quit and stayed with the kids. When the kids started school she went to work as a school nurse to be on the same schedule. After they graduated she went back to hospital nursing in peds.
Garage project on hold. All ready for trusses to be delivered and when the ruck arrived I noticed they were not the right pitch. Wrong pitch ordered. Re-ordered trusses, delivery 8-10 days! Oh well starting my 7 straight work days friday so I was not going to be able to do much anyway.
Congrats Buckeye on being published!
Added 10 pine trees to the layout. Walmart had 6" pine trees for 99 cents. Look ok to me. I'll take some pics and post 'em Sunday.
All travellers be careful, give some extra time, and forgive others as you would like to be forgiven.
May God bless

Doug - that's great - we used to do Yea! ...Boo!
Cooling down here quickly. The only thing colder than N Texas when it gets like this is Ohizo! Stay warm Buckeye, Chuck, John, et al!
Don - that panic switch is a very good idea. The panic buttons on DCS and TMCC only stop the trains, they do not stop the current. BTW - The DCS panic button only stops the current train you are controlling. To stop all DCS trains (if you are running multiples) requires you to push the panic button 2 or 3 times (I forget which it is - I just push it at least 3 times). We found this out the hard way on the old club layout - thought 1 push shut down 2 trains about to collide - OOPS! Wrecked anyway. Then we had to read the manual - so 2 strikes - wreck and men having to read the instructions.
Dennis - Are you going to Atlanta to the airport or are you just traveling? In the past for us, the best day to fly is Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. No one on board. It has been about 6 years since we last did that. Probably always crowded now.
Kurt - good for you! My work the last couple of years has allowed me to work from home so I can be here for kids, emergency trips to the shcool, start dinner (I am great with Hamburger Helper!), etc. My daughter drives herself now so that is 1 I do not have to chase (for now).
For all you traveling - be careful and have a safe trip!
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Regards, Roy

Don, I think what they are talking about, though not specificly, is possibly an astronomical hi-tide. I haven't checked but I think there is a full moon late friday to early saturday. Seems like it would have been very easy to say that instead of just announcing a flood watch, . But you must remember this is the same 's that incessantly proclaim that we are THE cause of global warming.
Here's wishing you all a VERY
HAPPY
THANKSGIVING!
I have so very much to be thankful for......just one of those things are the many wonderful new friends I have "met" on-line here on the forum and in person. You have all meant so much to me. Whether train issues or your support during my trials and tribulations of this past year, I am very grateful.
Well, gotta go check on the turkey and be sure it'll be thawed and ready to cook in the morning.
Hope everyone will have a wonderful day!!

Roy, we are not flying out of Atlanta. My sister-in-law lives in Woodstock, north east of Atlanta. We are driving up dark early tomorrow and staying till Friday. Plan is to leave Friday and stop at Memory Station and hopefully see Roger B. This is all contingent on a few things and ultimately SWMBO makes the call on this one.
Chief, Thanks!
Dropped the dog off at the vets. Hope he will be alright. They will watch him over the next few days, but since we were going to be out, thought it best to have someone to keep an eye on him. He just wasn't acting right and didn't eat today.
Lots to be thankfull for, but will lift that up in prayer. I really appreciate the friends from here that I have met or spoken with. A good crowd (even those above the MD line).
Oh, and Roy, will be flying into Killeen Tx. on the 30th for a few days hunting and for a friends promotion to Lt. Col. My present for that is a original unfired Springfield 03. That was his training rifle in the Military Academy.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
HI GIZ,
Just got done running trains here for 2 hrs. NO PILE UPS! Ran the new BB, and the Century Club 773 Hudson, along with a RS 11, and to top it off a Reading docksider in conventional mode. Great nite!
Hope all have a GREAT Thanksgiving.
Remember after you eat, take a walk for a half hour, better digestion.

JIM, hope you made them small. Cause there are not that many calories in the small ones. If you made em big just smash em up.
Enjoy.....
Thanks for the wishes Jim, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone else on the forum! We will be spending the day with my family, I am thankful to have all of them with us. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
We have been getting our stuff together for the Christmas layout. We hope to get it started this weekend (waiting for the hubby to clear some furniture out and get the board set up for us). I found some of the buildings and people at Rite Aid-they had them all priced at 50% off for the last couple of weeks. They appear to be close to the right size, at least close enough for us! The kids are real excited about setting it up. I hope to be able to post some pictures when we get it done.
Once again, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Laz, I'll be over in a minute with a plateful of broken ones and an empty mug!
Misty! I was going to say "Miss Misty" but that sounded funny, so then thought of "Miss Ty", but wasn't sure that fit either!?!
EVENING ALL
Low 40s and rain most of the day, wet snow by morning.
Brutus-Thanks for the chuckle I needed that.
I'll drop by in the morning but I'll say it now. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.
