Well - software crashed again mid-post. Stubborn enough to try again. Just put youngest to bed. Was researching A Christmas Story house in Cleveland - see http://achristmasstoryhouse.com

- maybe we'll stop on our way east this holiday season. Just watched the movie for the first time this season. Retreating to the basement...

Someplace (was it Michaels?) has a set of Lemax type buildings based on A Christmas Story this year.  We saw them, but neither I nor my wife can remember where it was?!

Full of Turkey and pie - so sleepy!

Jon - yeah, kids have friends with the a Wii and really like it.  I'd like to play it with them too!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It was a cold and cloudy day in SE Indiana.  First of all, a Happy Thanksgiving wish to all on the forum and their families!  We had a quiet day for once, which was kind of nice.  We went to Ponderosa for their Thanksgiving buffet, which was really nice and we ate too much.  Came home and watched the Lions lose at home.  Spent the evening building some American Brick houses for the historical society layout.  My wife suggested using the top of the folding tray I built them on as the means for transporting and displaying on the layout.  I may take her up on the idea.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning!

Great Thanksgiving with friends!  eldest and Bride crashed by 5:00pm, youngest doesn't sleep anywhere but car seat and her bed, so she was a mess.  I almost left bride and eldest, and took youngest home...(we celebrated with very close friends - they offered to bring remainder home) so no 2nd stop, home by 7:00pm.  Back home with leftovers...Had fun bartering for turkey / ham trade.  We had the ham.

Don I would brag too!  Great news!  He'll learn soon enough.  Reinforce the good stuff...there's enough bad stuff to work thru.  Is Chris planning on attending college?  If so what will he focus on?

Today legs and support for the Christmas layout.  Bride wants to build a fort for 3-yo to play in under train table...with lighting.  Confused [%-)]  4x4 posts approved for legs. She also mentioned that I should build cases for the trains in the office...

'Good' Train show at Washtenaw County Fairgrounds in Saline, MI this Sunday.  I'll be there with eldest!

Off to Raleigh for family 's Thanksgiving [not far from "The Mayor's" jurisdiction]. Here in the N.C. mountains snow flurries and light drizzle at 27F but no apparent black ice accumulating on road. Nevertheless I plan to "tiptoe" down the mountain in 4wd and snow mode.

Wife announced that my Christmas "train gift" would be the Southern ribbed aluminum 7-car MTH passenger set I ordered over a year ago. Oh Happy Day!

All have a good day and be safe.Smile [:)]

Good Morning Coffee Pot,

Stayed overnight at daughter and son-in-law's house for the first time last night.  We had a great Thanksgiving.  Got to hold grandson as much as I wanted.  We ate turkey and other good food.  Then looked at lots and lots of sale ads.  There are some really good bargains to be had today but there isn't anything we are willing to fight the crowds for.  Going to help SIL rake leaves later today for pickup tomorrow.  Wouldn't think I would be hungry already but hope breakfast is pretty soon.

The "G" scale Polar Express is very tempting.  That 20% off coupon at Linen & Things doesn't hurt either.  Wonder if there all gone yet?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and frosty 30 degrees. Only going up to 40 today with maybe some sunshine, later.

Today, we are busy. Normal house chores. We might get some company, later, from the Niece and her son.  Thanksgiving turned out good. Nice meal and plenty of relaxing. I might run trains later for company.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning all

Woke up to snow this morning, not sticking but really coming down.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We did.  Both daughters and grandkids were here for supper.  Good food and conversation and grandkids were in a good mood.  We ran trains played and colored after supper.  I am at work now and assignments passed out.  PRetty low key today as only shiftworkers in today for the holiday.

I'm missing setting up for the train show in Portsmouth, could not aggange coverage to get off.  I can't complain as the other supervisors have been great covering for me to attend classes.

We are going to have my brides family at our house Saturday for their Thanksgiving dinner.  NOT looking forward to that.  Let's just say I got the cream of the crop out of that gene pool.  I  will be working Saturday and won't be getting home till 8 p.m. so things should be quiet by the time I get home.  Just in time to clean up and fix what gets broke.

Travellers be careful and may God bless

Jim

'Morning from a really cold and sunny Crystal Lake where I hope to 'set up Christmas' today and work on some re-routing schemes for the layout I dreamt about last evening ;)

The longtime boyfriend of the daughter chose 10 pm last evening to tell her he wants a break. So she and the bride were upset and I'm upset they're upset. Hopefully the drama will subside today and she'll get on with 'life after boyfriend' - or rather get a life that doesn't revolve 'round him. Tough to tell her about all this - because she is 16 and knows it all already LOL.

Morning.  Been baby sitting Grandson.  Even had a "stinky boy" while his Mom showered and GrandMom snoozed [G'Mom went shopping at 4AM].  G'Dad changed the diper.  Got to see his first electric trains run.  He just stared and looked.  Big Boy was chuffing and NS diesels were screaming.  Granddad may just rest today.  Was going to do leaves but turned cold and windy.  Been having a little feaver at nights with some achey joints.

Survived the big feast.  Fell asleep in the recliner.  Great day!

Kurt - Chris is currently attending Jr. College, doing his General Ed requirements.  He currently has desires to become a phamaist.  He came to me last year and asked if I would be disappointed if he went to J.C. as oppossed to a 4 yr college right away, as most of his friends are doing.  He said he could do the same thing for the first 2 yrs at J.C. and save a lot of money for use in post graduate studies.  So who was I to say no.  Yep, I'm VERY proud of him.

Today, we put up the outside decorations, Santa, Sleigh and 9 Reindeer on the roof.  MY PARENTS started the tradition in the 60's. With the same design.  Currently on the third generation, homemade and the display is mounted to a 2x6x20.

Holidays always bring sweet-bitterness to me, all the memories rushing in.  And THEN the new memories being created.  Again a GREAT Time for reflection and thanks giving.

Back to trains.... HOPEFULLY will get my speaker today in the mail for the AC4400 at least get that fully operational again.  Maybe the BB will be back by Christmas.

Hear the family waking up, so hope everyone continues to have a great weekend!

Just got the new CTT today.  Has anyone looked at the preview for the next issue?  If not, check it out.  The layout story article should be interesting.  I think we know the layout builder.  I've be working on a Flyer 342AC switcher today.  I've never seen so much caked grease.Dead [xx(]

Evenin' boys.  GregM, nice to see you sir.  Sunny & 43 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  It got up to 73 yesterday...someone out west, kindly shut the door.  Actually got my pants to fasten together this morning, allthough I did notice folks standing aside for fear of flying shrapnel.

Don:  Sounds like you have a great son!  Head's on straight!  I have a cousin that's a pharmacist.  We has manages his own Wallgreens store, and is looking to go corporate.  He has good hours and good $$.  Just make sure credits transfer.

Bad news today....brought in Christmas layout board...made it a bit too high (easy fix) but it still looks a bit unwieldy.  Bride vetoed the trains around the tree...Sigh [sigh]  said it was taking over the house...I think I'll build it anyway, and see if she changes her mind.  What do I have to lose???  I have the track.  48" fastrack curves look great, and the foam's not too loud, but I think I'll add some carpet foam before the flocking.

Bride and I both agree there's something special about Thanksgiving leftovers the day after.

Evening.  Tired.  Did backyard leaves after putting in car seat for Cart and going to Lowes for bird food.  Took an hour as folks were just standing in isles.  Not doing anything but talking and would move.  Excuse me  and they would stare.  Tired and cold.  White Christmas comes on ABC Family at 8 PM EST.

Good Evening.........

It was cold today. Sun came out for awhile. I put all the extension cords out and connected them for the outside trees. About 800 feet of cord to light up 10 trees. Now, to put the lights on Tomorrow and Sunday. Big job but they look great.

I wonder where Buckeye is ??  Last heard from, he was crossing into NC.

Happy Post Thanksgiving all!

Had a great time with Sister-in-law and family.  Ate too much.  I made some bourbon chocolate and caramel pecan pies...they went over very well.  It was a great gathering.  Finished it off with a visit with Roger B. at Memory Station in Watkinsville.  What a nice person and store.  I had to buy a few items and got to see a album of Roger's layout....the man is a craftsman!

Wife informed me today I was getting a Wii for Christmas.  Not sure what is all involved as I have not played a video game since the days of Atari.  Anyway, from what I have heard, it should be fun.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

God Bless,

Dennis

Good evening,

It's been cold here but no snow yet.

I've been reading  a special edition of Classic Trains titled "Railroads and World War II".  Some great articles, most with input from people who actually worked during that period.  If you have any interest in history and railroads, I am sure you would enjoy it.

Got my Christmas train ready to run, got to pick up some Christmas candy to put in the two hoppers.

Good Evening,

Congrats Fife, I'm looking forward to getting my copy to admire your work.

Funny how little things  can really make your day.  I got my speaker from Mizells today, and it is in and now we have sound again.  Great thrill !!

Got all the outside Christmas decorations down and over half put up.  Will finish them tomorrow.  Going to go to an electronic fair/swap meet.  See about picking up some toggle switches and terminal strips and maybe a few indicator lights.

Sure enjoying the weekend, seems like having multiple Sundays all at once.

Don, If you are going to be up a ladder or on your roof tomorrow watch out for the Santa Ana winds. Supposed to be fairly strong although relatively short lived, thank goodness. Looks like it will be pretty cold here tonite, already in the mid 40's no clouds and dry as a popcorn toot. Sure makes it nice for star gazing though.

After that last one I had a couple of eucalyptus trees removed this week, weren't cheap but both were about 90 ft tall and I was a little concerned about them coming down. Not to mention they are about as dirty as a flock of pigeons.

Finally gave in to all the harassment from my better half and my daughter, bought a new truck today. Don't think I'll really miss the old one.

Brined the turkey this year, think that is a winner, came out nice and moist even with stuffing.

Will have to put some photos together of the new Christmas layout for Sunday Photo Fun.

Nite All !

P.S. The new CTT came today, have to check out page 70 in the morning.

Doug -

What kinda truck did you get?

Also regarding trimming and removing trees can be very costly.......

Family fined $347,000 for trimming trees.....
