New CTT droped on the mat this morning haven't had chance to read it yet. Working through a load of paperwork today as away on site for the rest of the week. Just flicking through and notice the Ilkley show is mentioned in the events section. Great to see that. Brent - sounds like Mrs 88 is related to my husband.  He went fishing yesterday and came home and dumped all the gear, cooler, etc. right in the middle of the garage floor.  He has a nice rack for the rods right there on the wall - but couldn't seem to put them back.  Banged Head [banghead]  Keep telling him -

And he wonders why he can't seem to find any of his stuff!!  Sigh [sigh]

I've spent most of the day washing up all his hunting clothes that he had piled up since the end of deer season - of course that requires special soap, descenting the drier, etc., and picking up all his stuff and putting it away.  Thinking maybe I won't go back to work - he's a full time job all by himself!!  But I love him anyway!!Wink [;)]

Nick,

Glad you got your CTT.  Mine arrived today also.  I have not had the chance to see it yet, but bride informed me it was there.  I can hardly wait to check it out and see page #18 as well.

Chief, glad you got to sleep in.  Hope Pam was there to let the boys out.

Anyway, bought a new string trimmer this weekend and have to get some work done around some fence posts.  Also found out the nursery overcharged us for a number of the trees, so instead of a refund, we will be getting more for me, I mean our family, to plant.Banged Head [banghead] Like Buckeye, I need to run some trains.

Evening all!

Finally started raining here. Good constant gentle rain. About 3/4 inch so far. This will help our lakes.

Long day today. Did not sleep well. Hope to make up for it tonight.

13 year old son is driving everyone in the house absolutely nuts. Now I know why some people send their kids to prep school after 6th grade.

Got my 261E loco back from Just Trains. Great guys. Joe called me to let me know it had shipped. Hope to unpack it later tonight. They were careful to repack it like I sent it to them (box in a box with foam peanut filler).

Have a great evening all!

Good morning everyone.

Late night here at work last night. The good news is that all the overtime will help pay for that post war Berk I bought last week.

Didn't get to run trains last night. But my wife was home unexpectedly and we had a nice dinner together. Tonight I need to finish up the Chief's double portal. He's been very patient in waiting for it to be completed. I also need to clean track this week.

Have a nice day, everyone!

Good morning all,

It is sunny and warm again in SE Indiana with temps near 80 again.  I love it.  Last night went to county music fest where all three county high schools perform together.  The band section was not too bad, but the guest choral director spent more time talking about himself than letting the kids perform.  Lucas and his girlfriend were in the choral group, but we could only see Lucas.  After that was done, I played some indoor soccer with the high school kids.  It was fun, but I really can not stay up with them.  I was telling them that I remember when I used to be able to outrun them, but that was when they were U-10s!?!?

I have some good news and some not so good news.  The good news is that I start a new job on April 23 with a substantial pay increase, enough that I may be able to start buying train stuff again.  The not so good news is that I am not sure if and when I will be able to post on a regular basis.  My hours will be changing some and so I may be able to post from home before I head off to work.  I will just have to see.  This is a goal that I have been pursuing for several months and persistence does pay off every once in a while.

I am still not decided as to who won the "Battle of Harrisburg".  There are conflicting reports from both sides, but at least it seems the number of casualties was low.  (In other words, neither side could hit the broad side of a barn :-) ).

I better send the dining car to "Points East" so they are well fed for all the carpet work ahead of them.  To Roy and all the others with teenagers, it does get better at some point.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good moring all,

After I posted, I realized I forgot to mention I got the May CTT yesterday.  I saw the picture on page 18, and I understand what everybody is talking about.  I glanced at some of the articles, and I hope to study it some more tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Foul weather is heading our way.  It is tornado season.

That is not the Chief fishing on Page 18.  He is in the outhouse on the hill.  That is yours truely fly fishing on the banks of the Potomac River in WV. Smile [:)]

Busy day...

See ya down the tracks,

BTW, did you see we had a big train wreck in Buckeyland last night?

GORRRIITTT!!!

CCT has arrived. There's something fishy on page 18.

Watched a programme the other night called 'Monster moves' three items; 1. moving a depot building across Deming NM. Cut it into two and then hauled the pieces across the UP main lines tangling with the local telephone and power lines en-route. Very interesting! 2&3 they had to move two loco's across Omaha NB. UP DD40AX #6400 and UP Big Boy #4023 two miles to the top of a hill for display. Again a very interesting story only marred by the *** of a commentator calling locomotives 'trains', We have the same problems over here with these ignoramuses, imagine a golf bore calling a club 'a stick' or a footy ball 'a bladder'.

Beautiful sunny day here in Stockport +10C and a light breeze.

Lionel still on hold, all the people that take my money have told me what I have to pay, but of
the three pension providers two can't tell me what I am getting until the end of April.

Good morning from Dixie! Another warm and sunny day today. It's getting kind of dry here - could use some rain. Perhaps some will arrive Friday.

CTT arrived at the Johnston residence yesterday. Read it last night - good issue. Interesting article about the scale Hudson, the GG1 and Alco A unit.

John B., do you fellows have anything akin to our federal income tax on your side of the pond? It's tax season over here with the wonderful forms 10-40, W-2, 1099, et. al., ad nauseum. Lots of paperwork and income for the Certified Public Accountants. (My son is studying to become a CPA). Our deadline for filing is April 15 (at least without an extension). Alabama has a state income tax too, though not all states have one (one of the great things about Florida!) Anyway, just curious. (And no, I am definitely not trying to start a political flame war here! Smile [:)] )

John,

The deadline for tax filing here in Mass is April 17. The 15th is a Sunday and the 16th is a Mass holiday (Patriots Day). Since the IRS is here, we get a few extra days!

Good morning from a warm Chicago where it is supposed to drop back into the 40s tonight.  I took a nice long walk out to Millenium Park and down to the lake yesterday and even visited a comic book store. The skyline looked wonderful. Today, at lunch, I hope to visit the former Illinois Central electric lines at the Randolph St Station. Done my taxes; got the refund and spent it already. Wink [;)]

Good morning from a damp and cool N. Texas. Got rain all afternoon yesterday and through much of the night. This is good. Dr. John - sending it your way!

Forgot to get the 261E out of my wife's car last night - rats. Did finish repairing a ZW for a friend that had been dropped in shipping. The heavy core bends the aluminum end supports when this happens and then the core drops. Broke a roller. Took out the end supports and hammered them back into shape and then installed a new roller. Good as new.

The 13 year old spent 6+ hours doing about 2 hours of homework yesterday - complaining all the way...SoapBox [soapbox]

Have a great day all!

Laz, Yes, April 16 is Boston Marathon Day. The Red Sox are always at home on Patriot's Day and play their game at 11:00 am to fascilitate the marathon.

Doug, I love comic book stores! Haven't been in one in so long I can't remember when!  That was several hobbies ago!

Laz57 - Might I recommend you try stretching your legs out on the new Alleghany Trail over in Meyersdale.  It's the old WESTERN MARYLAND right-of-way, and it is a fabulous level surface which parallels CSX SandPatch grade.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

Forgive me , this will be short. We lost one of our beloved boys yesterday. Rocky was suffering from his allergies and his heart could not take the strain. I buried him this morning in his favorite, shady place. I do not know what else to say. The wife is a mess. He died in her arms.

Thanks for letting me share my grief with you.

Our tax year begins April 5th, ends April 4th, Taxes are collected by Inland Revenue and Customs via our employers deducting from pay, self employed people have to produce an annual return on which tax is levied directly and Accountants are widely used to help with this form filling. When I was in business, I found that I could do the job better than my accountant and saved a bomb, but my money affairs were fairly straightforward.

As a pensioner my state and company pensions are taxable, my disability pension is tax free.
