We finally settled our WWII debt with you guys just before Christmas. I believe our last WWI veteran died a few weeks ago. I have a hand carved walking stick made for me by a wonderful man who served throughout and worked in the local pit until the 1960s, the stick has one of his tunic buttons set into the top. I treasure it greatly. Why can't your gods prevent war?
York is in Yorkshire England (isn't it?) my home county, it Hosts the National Railway Museum, at Easter there is a very large model railway exhibition.
I have a form of Tinnitus, loud bass music sets off a roaring sensation and I have difficulty hearing speech. Or am I just getting old?
We are not allowed to have dogs or other large pets here, the fuss the kids and wife made when we lost 'Lady' our lovely old Lab. made me vow to have no more dogs, had a few cats over the years or should I say they had us. I'm not uncaring really! Just very practical.

Good morning all,
It is cooler but still nice in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s today. All this talk of veterans and survivors makes me think of a cousin of mine. My uncle re-married late in life and had a daughter (by a much younger wife). He was a WWII vet, flying in B-17 missions as a bombardier or navigator. He has since passed on, but his daughter is now in her early 20s. I can see stories being written about her 60 years from now as the "last surviving direct descendant of a WW II vet".
Thank you all for the comments and congrats. It is nice to be able to share the good times as well as the bad on the 'pot.
Was very busy last night. Started getting the mowers ready to cut grass. There was someone out cutting grass down the street from us this week. I try to wait until after April 15 as a rule of thumb, but I may not get that lucky this year. I also talked to some people about getting a new garage door. I did treadmill at the YMCA, and I wasted an hour watching "Lost". It was a totally worthless episode.
The dining car is headed for "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.

It is a cool 50 degrees. Looks like the sun is trying to come out. Going up to 65 today, with sunshine. Grass is starting to grow.
Today, I am going to Cambridge to do the grocery shopping. Wife is going to the Beauty shop to get hair done. We both need to get out of the house for a few hours. Slept better last night. This is going to be rough for awhile. Trying to stay focused on the good times. I wore poor Woo out yesterday. Took a lot of walks and played ball. One of these days, I will tell the story, about how he got his name. It is fitting.
Dining Car is here and I need to eat breakfast. Have not been too hungry the last few days. " Points West " will get a lot.

Chilly today with highs in the 40s. But sunny, so I will not complain. March is flying by. Monday is opening day for the Red Sox. They open the season in Kansas City. I'd love to go there just for the great barb-b-q!
Keith, I went to a train show this weekend and saw a very nice pre war freight set led by a Torpedo! I almost bought it. It was for sale at the last show back in December. If it's still there the next time, I'm buying it!!!

Laz, Thanks! HER paint???? Goodness I hope not! After I moved down here I spent 3 or 4 weekends repainting rooms in the house that she painted before we met... the Living Room and Dining Room where the only two I didn't touch and you can tell... the one wall in the Living Room is Pink and along the ceiling you can see pink paint along the corner... looks atrocious! So I get to fix that finally (2 months before we move). Has to be done this week because I want the wall to have a good 14 days to dry before the new sofa arrives...Reason we are painting the wall... because the pink wall will clash with the new sofa... I thought we were moving? She just gives me a hug, peck on the cheak, winks, smiles, and walks away... women! Brent
Morning, all! Another warm day today in the upper 80's, then a cool-down over the weekend. Still need rain badly. I'm afraid we're getting into another drought.
Off to the dentist this afternoon for a check-up. I don't mind dentist visits, but there is something odd about having people hover over you, with their fingers in your mouth while you stare up their nostrils.
My RailKing PRR F-3 set came in yesterday. Ordered it from Legacy Station in GA. and it arrived in three days! Great service! I was pleased to see it does have Loco-sound, rather than the advertised bell and whistle. I ordered a RailKing PRR 2-8-0 Passenger set w/ PS 2.0 a week ago from Wholesale Trains. It hasn't arrived yet, maybe today.
Everyone have a good day. Chief have fun in Orlando. BTW, you owe me a new keyboard and monitor. I spit coffee all over mine when I read you were going to dress like a princess!!!

88, TRAINED mine real good. When we bought our house I dii all the cutting and the ceilings she did her thing with the spounge painting. ARGH WOMEN! I'll wanted white she wanted all these other colors.

Dr.John, they are calling for us to get some rain later in the weekend, so you may get it a day before us. We too are supposed to be in the upper 80s today. I cranked up the well yesterday.....it feeds the irrigation system. not much else going on. I am on call and have a mid afternoon cases. Kids have a Easter Egg hunt for my son's school.

Another Delay Here, - Oh Shaw!! (Sr. Curseword) -
While putting everything back together from all the painting, wife and I decided to check out the carpeting, SOOOO..... Carpeting and entry way flooring being installed on Monday. So everything has to be moved out again, Most of the furniture has to go to garage and/or train room. Plus I need to run wires for the stereo and cable so that they can be placed on a different wall in the family room. So big impact on my weekend.
Wait, optimistic view - still going to get the shelves up, just a delay on the weekend! The days moved to Tuesday/Wednesday.
Went to club last night, took a banner I had made for the Open house that is coming up, (while I am in York). Took some of our older stuff down and ran in conventional. Have 2 #42 Picatinny Switchers, a GG1, and a Virginian FM. Everything worked great! We were the only ones running!

Actually I got to thinking about that later, and if I'm not mistaken it actually was "Pha-Shaw" or that's how my grandfather always used it.
My Dad would sometimes use the Ah-S---, term and old grandpa would ALWAYS come back with "I'm glad I don't have in my hand, what you have in your mouth"
I was using both yesterday regarding my reschedule AGAIN, as related to the train room work and delay. Oh well!!
