Chief I wait till the barber has a 2 for 1 sale.
Good afternoon all,
Made another call to pool supply place and re explained to the guy what I needed. The name of the item is called a "Lilly Pad" type of skimmer. Once I told him that, suddenly the lights came on. The price went from $125 to $59. That's more better.
Our live in son is in North Carolina today visiting my sister. Got to Raleigh last night only 30 minutes late. That's not bad for Southwest. He will go up to Virginia to see my other terminally ill sister there. Today they are just running around and enjoying seafood and Bar-B-Que. Wish I was there.

Wow - got my new CTT and guess what, RT has a full page article at the very end of the magazine - way to go, WOOT!

It is the third week of August, and the Missouri summer has just now arrived. It has been in the mid to upper 90's all week with high humidity. Supposed to last well into next week. This sort of weather normally starts in July - not that I'm complaining.
The EF is elevated again at work. Got a new plant manager and a temporary Engineering manager.
About all for now.
Good Evening,
Sure has been a lot going on, birthdays, accidents, new jobs, of course unpleasant weather, and even an new contributing editor. Wow, I'm impressed!
Here, things going well, most importantly Kay is doing terrific! Everything has been going as planned with terrific results. So we are especially thankful and appreciative for that. I had a Dr visit today, and have surgery #3 scheduled for next Friday the 29th. Actually, it is good news to me because as things are now, not improving just marking time. The issue is what's called a "non-union" of the fracture. Unfortunately, where the fracture occurred is the most difficult part of the body to heal. Due to the shin area being primarily bone, and not much support material. So after a 2nd opinion and a CT Scan, the procedure is going to be a combination of hardware and extensive bone grafting. Currently, I can't put ANY weight on the leg, and even the slightest movement is very uncomfortable, sometimes quite painful. So I am anxious for the surgery and restart the recovery clock, cause this situation is definitely a no go.
On the train front, I have 3 engines here which have their own problems, one with excessive sound distortion, another with bad boards, and a 3rd that is a wiring disaster. Found a guy in VA that says he will repair them all, so going to ship them off next week. From the research I did, I think it will go well. Will keep you all advised.
So hope everyone has a great weekend, and STAY HEALTHY !!
Don
Mornin' boys. Off & on showers in the Mid-Atlantic region. No yatchet today, so I'll take the time to gather my N-scale collection up, because a co-worker is interested in buying my whole lot for his grandson. Speaking of grandsons, ours scored a 1st place trophy last night in his 2-3 Strider race. With 2 seconds, and 2 fourths, the kid's racking up the hardware.
dbaker - That's great news on the Mrs.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill......
It is a humid 76 degrees. Going up to 88 today with no rain.
Easy day today. I will read my latest copy of CTT and have lunch. Then a nice nap. Not much else new.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Congrats RT, now you need to find a train show and sell autograph's.
rt - CONGRATS!!!
Don hope your operation is a success this time. Ray prayers for you and your family.
Thanks guys, I actually came across that by having a car that the launchers wouldn't lock ( well 3 cars) so decided to take one apart that was not one of the ones to a set. I saw that the foam rubber had deteriorated to just basically dust and new it had to be a soft foam rubber so got out my el-cheapo paint brushes I picked up some time ago and cut what looked to be the size and put it together and it worked so I sent the tip to Bob and he requested more pics and they added the diagram. I wasn't at first until I put it together that that was going to be the fix or If It was just part of the fix but ti worked on all three of my cars so was convinced it was the trick.
Not a lot planned for today need to get the second level loop put together and screwed down and wires dropped threw the second and first level so can get power to it. Think I will hook my TPC-300 to it. so I can run conventional with the cab-1 Would be nice as that's what I want to run up there just not sure which one I'm leaning towards the set with the 736 in it. We will see need to get a lot of wiring done thou for the whole layout. I want to add switches in the wiring to my side tracks so I can turn on or off the power to them. That way I can have engines sitting on them with out the power going to it.
Just need to go down there and empty out from underneath the table so I can get under there and do all this.
Well hope all have a good weekend talk to you all later.
Mornin' Gents
Been off work all week and finally feeling good enough to deal with some nagging train issues. I've mislaid my stash of tubular track and switches. If I wait long enough I'll have forgotten that I'd forgotten where they are and when I eventually do find them it'll be just like finding stuff for free!.
The goal is to build some kind of semi permanent Christmas layout this year. Old school postwar throughout. I've got too much conventional engines and postwar accessories to just let them sit in the closet.
Also trying to straighten out a balky SP Daylight 4-8-4. It seems to have a bind in the drivers that keeps the engine from running unless I crank the Cab to full throttle. I've thrown up my hands a few times on this one and gone back to planning the layout.
Congrats RT. I'll be waiting for the Oct issue on tenderhooks. Also waiting on that accessories edition too.
Passing through again. No time to read. Hot, humid and rainy. Dog at Daughters still has sick tummy. Not there, I have to clean up behind her. Famous Rolesville grill closing today. No more fried chicken gizzards. Spoiled owner of property ran them out [no A/C for two weeks]. Renting to people that are going to do subs. We all in town are going to boycott.
Good morning all,
RT, congratulations on the CTT article.
Our #2 son called last night from Jacksonville, N.C. He was all worn out from sight seeing with my sister. Sent us some pictures via E mail.
D.Baker, prayers for a good outcome on surgery #3. Let me know how you make out with that repair guy in Virginia. If he is good I might send him some stuff too.
Missing TCA meet today because I did not make arrangements for someone to take my place as caregiver at home. However, no great loss. This is our smallest meet. Just miss seeing the guys.
Discovered some kind of bread from the mid east probably that is very low in Carbohydrates. It is stone ground wheat with only filtered water, yeast and I forget what else. Very simple flat bread. Looks like it was cooked draped over a rock in the sun but taste good and rolls up like a tortilla. Good for doing wraps I guess. I loaded up on a lot of veges yesterday for my diet. Going to try something with zucchini and egg plant next. Fell off the wagon last night though but in moderation. Had one chicken taco with rice and beans. Back on the diet today.
later,
Catching up-----

Prayers for healing, Don Baker.
Worked my 5 mandated OT hours today and then came home and mowed the lawn after a quick lunch. It was somewhere between 102 and 106 (including the heat index/humidity) so it took a while. I mowed down into the shadows so at the end I was as cool as possible. But it was Hot. Internet went down for hours, because Charter lost their DNS server. Remember Chief had that happen years ago and called me up to ask what was up. I said Ping CTT and if you can it's the DNS Server. He said - you been drinking and hung up LOL! Well, I wasn't, but he woke me up!
What no Chuck this morning.
Guess he had to go out for milk.
Afternoon all. Guess everyone is out and busy today. Hope its the fun type busy and its a beautiful day for them. I got up too early and went back to bed after about 2 hrs then got up like 3 hrs later. Feeling a lot better now.
Time to figure out whats to be done today so off I go prayers for Don's #3 operation and for Ray and family and any body else in need of them.
Good Afternoon from Blueberryhill.......
I was so busy running trains this morning, that I forgot to post.
Hot today. 84. No rain.
Had Cheerios for breakfast on the dining car with plenty of milk. I always keep an extra gallon in the spare fridge, so as to not run out again.
I hope y'all are having a great Sunday.
Home!!!! Came home to Wifey, her two sisters, nieces, great nieces and great nephew. OH, they had their dogs [don't know why they can't leave their dogs at home, we don't take ours to their houses]. What a mess and noise. Well, babysitting over. Now back to normal house stuff and Mayor stuff.
Did run trains for great nieces and great nephew.
Turned cooler here. Yesterday was suppose to be day of T'storms. Didn't happen.
Later.
Somewhere 97 and 100 here today.
Quiet weekend. Stayed inside, hiding from the heat. Spent some time at the museum doing maintenance on the exhibits - light bulb replacement, minor display straightening and repairs. Also worked on a table/storage piece for the museum. When done, it will be a play table for Brio style wooden trains, with storage drawers underneath.
On a sad bit of news, I received word that one of my old friends, who was also a mentor, had a stroke a couple days ago. He has survived the stroke, and they are currently deciding on his course of therapy.
Back to work tomorrow - the S.S. fund calls.
All for now.
Hope your friend is okay, 8nT. Char wants a new bed, so we spent a few hours shopping today - wow. $$$. Going through my train tubs and found my a lot of Halloween cars - who'd a guessed that :)
Morning all. Sunny and cooler with less humidity. Was 55 at 7 AM. Went for a walk. 1.2 miles to pond dam spillway and back. Elevation change was 37 feet. I think that is in two steep hills. One solid rock. Also walked in my boots. Next time, will wear my walking shoes. Had to hide .40 cal. in jeans pocket. Walked down School Street which is a Town street, Didn't want "van mom's' delivering kids to have heart attack. Call PD and get told public street and hush.
Waiting on FEDEX to deliver replacement cell phone. Old one charging port died. Local Verizon gave me a loaner. Which was nice of them. Seems special government account and is sealed. Someone shipped on from Ft. Worth Saturday afternoon [which was good too]. My problem is FEDEX. Worst delivery service I have ever had. I'm sure I will have to sign. Instructions say to call Mayor at "number" 10 minutes before delivery. He may be up street at his office or out back behind his house. We'll see. Have had them deliver or attempt [leave note] at 205 North Main Street. Now UPS is completely different unless there is a fill-in driver. SO WAITNG.
Brutus better do what Char says.
8nt, prayers for your friend.
All, have a great week.
