Good morning all,

My son was in Virginia yesterday visiting my sister there.  He sent us some pictures and I was surprised that she looked a lot better than I had feared.  She has put more weight on and looks a lot better in spite of her cancer.  Her husband takes care of her 24/7.  That man should be in the same company with Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul the second for sainthood.

They are headed back to North Carolina today and he will spend one more day there with other sister with cancer.  He might be able to go fishing this afternoon with his cousin.  They all had Eastern North Carolina style Bar-B-Que on buns with cole slaw yesterday.  Told him to put some in an envelope and mail it to me.

Still on the straight and narrow with diet but it's a chore.

later,

Ray

Evening all!

Been AWOL a few days. Joined some old friends on an annual trip. Spent time on the lake for 3 days. Did a 140 mile river tour on  Waverunners. Hit several marinas to sample the food and beverages.

Don B - good luck on the surgery!

Wife found out today she will have to have cataract surgery this fall.

Hope all have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Got a few more pictures from my son in North Carolina today.  He went fishing with his cousin.  Only caught one small Bluefish and had to throw it back.  He said they had fun though.

Finally got my income tax filing completed today after having an extension.  Will pick up and mail tomorrow.

later,

Ray

Hello all

Back on the mountain and we are getting some more rain right now.

Managed to get the rest of the stuff from the storage unit put away and get the bench clear so maybe when I get back I can finally hook up the ZW.

8N - thoughts and prayers for your friend

Don - good news on your better half and hope the surgery goes well

Chief - I'm sure your doc will be happy about you cutting back on fried gizzards...Stick out tongue

Dennis - yup, as Doug mentioned, it's the '65 Corvair 500 4dr hardtop.

Got a bunch of trolley books in today I found on the bay a few weeks back. Guy was on vacation and then they came media mail. Still a good deal though. Some great stuff in there. Will provide some useful info for the trolley work and some entertaining reading as well.

Also rode the new streetcar on the way to work instead of taking the second bus. Nice cars they have there. So far it seems to be seeing pretty good use. Been in operation for one month. Hopefully next year we will be running the historic trolleys on these same tracks.

Morning all.  Another beautiful day.  Cool, low humidity and sunny.  Got some chores to do and then Mayor's stuff.

FEDEX screwed to pooch as usual.  Lady attempted to deliver the cell to the PD.  Had my name and address.  Chief told her she was wrong so she put down refused package and person unknown.  Well, she is in hot water now.  She was made to turn around in her route and redeliver to me.  Always with FEDEX.

Got to get going as watched some DVR'd programs.

Have a good day.

Secretly wished to own a Fiero back when they were current.  Just knew that anything mid engine would handle like it was on rails.  These days, with the aches and pains of age, something mushy and floating suits me betterZzz.

The Spyder is pretty good comfort wise...but then I did install BMW buckets so I'm not sliding out during sharp turns.

Good Afternoon Boyz & Girlz.

Beginning to catch up on some rest. Went over to Laughlin, Nv last week to meet up with some family from back east. All went well, spent more on gas than I did gambling so I look at it as a successful trip. I like Laughlin much more than Vegas, only about eight or nine casino/hotels so it's a lot more laid back and casual plus it's on the Colo River with a riverwalk that connects almost all the casinos. Got back just in time for a weekend at the museum.

PlateRail, Gotta agree with ya on the mode of transport. I had to get rid of my Formula Fiero when I got the truck, arthritis made it just to miserable getting in and out of it. But I loved the way it drove and handled.

Gotta run .

Not much going on these days. Finished the trim work around the new kitchen windows. Look pretty nice. Now saving for new kitchen cabinets and flooring... YEAH!

Anyone hear about the 9yo girl who shot and killed her instructor while shooting an UZI on full auto? Very tragic and unfortunate, hope the girl doesn't come out of the experience worse for the wear. Sounds to me that she should have never been shooting on full auto to begin with.

Aloha. Looks like a cool-day temperature-wise. Got the youngest off to school. Now off to grocery-shop before everyone else. Then work.

Roy, I had cataract surgery a few years ago - you can reassure your wife - it was very straightforward and I recovered quickly. And see better.
Dennis, that C&NW stock car is a nice pick-up.
Rich, what was the Atlas car this year?

Good Morning Guys!

Everything is quiet here. Johns-son is doing well at the Police Academy, in fact he enjoys it. Granddaughter Kali just turned 4 months and she is doing well. She just started rolling over.

8n: Prayers for a complete recovery for your friend.

V8: After reading your post about your neighborhood, I would move. Be careful!

Roy: Sounds like a great trip! Good luck to your wife with the cataract surgery.

SPMan: Glad your son is viviting your sisters. Seems like the fishing there is the same as in Jersey. That is what all we caught last few times out, Small Bluefish! lol

Bob: Enjoy the trolley books and the trolleys.

Bruce / Doug: I have a friend that is still really into Fieros. In fact he races them. He even built one with a Chevy smallblock with a stick set up. A very wild ride. He sold it and made a nice profit. He also races a Miata that he just rolled a couple of weeks ago.

Chief: A lot of the Fed Ex Drivers are not employees of Fed Ex but contract carriers with their own trucks lettered to Fed Ex Specs. The guy that delivers here is because I busted him one day about the old and beat truck he had. He told me the story.

Brent: I agree with you about the girl and the instructor.

Enjoy the Day!

John

Finally back home.  Left at 6:30.  Mayoring all day.

On the way back from Human Services Board, TV5 call for an interview [which was scheduled for tomorrow AM] almost immediately.  When they finally showed, it was 30 after their time they were suppose to meet.  Principal and I did one on backpack buddies we started for high school kids with no food.  Seems here, elementary schools and middle schools are covered.  High schools forgotten.  We started one fund by us.  Now taken over by the non-profit.  Then the students have taken it over and bring food and funds for their fellow students.

Later had to rush to lunch meeting.  Then Town Hall.  Did make it by the gun store [Hunters Haven] for a few.

Oh Lord!!!!  Great niece is here with Wifey.

Tired.

Hey Guys!

What a great cause, another great job by the Chief.  Congrats!!!

Wanted to go down to the beach to watch the waves, etc., but it was just too crowded, so didn't make it.  50' waves is really phenomenal.  Did find out the engines I sent to VA for repair got there, so will see what happens from here.

Going into the hospital tomorrow morning, probably be out by Tuesday.  Need to get the surgery done, but end up spending the holiday in the hospital.  Oh well...

Take care guys and have a great weekend.  AND BE SAFE !!!!

Mornin' boys.  Gorgeous weather in the Mid-Atlantic region, where a lone fiddle can be heard playing on the banks of the Potomac...  Hosted a running session for a co-worker and his 3 grandsons Tuesday night.  The oldest boy was cute, and wifey noticed that my youngest princess was "hovering".  Had my entire N-scale collection spread out for them to purchase, but no deal (at least not yet).

Sent in YORK registration.  Reminder---> 9/2 deadline.

Off for the Labor Day weekend, and hope to be out on the water and catch the Memphis Bell flying over.  Blue Angels will be in town in a couple weeks.

Good luck Shake-and-Bake.

Morning crew.  Slowing down for me.  Today will be a mowing day and then drive to the lake house to mow.  Not staying but driving back later today.

Prayers for Shake and Bake.  BTW: can't make jokes about CA on a rifle forum.  They have "the watering hole" [like our coffee pot].  Lady shooter lives in CA.  A couple of us make some jokes after the earth quake about chiseling CA off and shoving it into the water.  Also told them about why Don is named Shake and Bake.  She posts we were hateful about CA and didn't care about folks pain and suffering.  So we can't joke about CA anymore. Wink

Hope all have a great and safe holiday weekend.

Later.

Aloha. No big plans for Labor Day weekend. Looks like it will be wet too - maybe good basement time. The middle boy who just went back to college on Monday is coming back today.  I also loved the Fieros when they were current. I tried to talk the bride into getting one right before we adopted our oldest. . . it is not exactly a family car. Smile

Good luck Don - we'll be looking for you Tues.

Good morning all,

Don, my thoughts and prayers are with you for the surgery this weekend for a good outcome.

Going to see financial advisor this AM which is about a 20 mile freeway trip.  I called him yesterday about a new investment and he wants to see me right away like today.  I get all stressed with short notice and going down there in the first place.  Don't like freeway driving plus have to take wife everywhere I go.  I have no back up for her today.  I have been having discomfort since yesterday in the abdominal area or chest.  Can't tell which.  Feels like I strained something like my hiatal hernia maybe.  Hope I'm not having heart problems but I don't think so.  Just had a check up recently.  It might be just indigestion since I have been eating things on this diet that I'm not used to.  Tragic story about the 9 year old girl that accidentally shot her instructor in Arizona.  What were they thinking letting her fire an Uzi on automatic.  Seems like a no brainer at her age.

V8 Dennis, did you see the story in the paper about the murder trial going on against Pit Bull owner who's 4 dogs killed somebody.

later,

Ray

Thanks Jon. [posted the same on rifle forum, no reply]

Most important, last report Don B was in recovery.  Surgery went longer than planned.  Dr. says successful.  He is in a long cast which is not the best but a lot better than the "cage" he had before.  Prayers.

On a follow up to the folks on the rifle forum.  No way did I or anyone mention death or harm.  " Miss Prim Donna" thought we did.  She will not post a reply to anyone who does not kiss her b-tt.  Anyway, one guy posts, "I wouldn't wish harm or death to anyone including Isis."  YES!!!  I wanted to reply, you and Hanoi Jane will make great partners.  Strange folks on that forum.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

All the best to Don. Sad story about the youngster at the range. Labor Day: Time to start really looking at the layout. What to do? Dust it, for sure. Maybe, change the theme? Look under. What is in those boxes and crates? Anything I can use, reuse or, heaven forbid, get rid of? Wow, decisions! Have a great holiday.
