Aloha from a foggy Chicago where the air and water show was cancelled yesterday because of the low clouds. We have a new dog, we call him Torben (Thor's bear) which was the name of our tour guide in Berlin. He is a rescue from a kill shelter, some kind of mutt. The bride actually found him while I was away. We were told he was like a year old but he's more like five - the vet can tell by his teeth. But he's a good dog. The cats are not happy but they'll get used to him. While I was waiting for his first obedience class, I got to wandering the pet store aisles and found some neat aquarium (ruined castles and so forth) items that were perfect in scale and would look good on the layout.

Doug sounds like those would fit right into your RR theme.

Morning all!
Got a good soaking rain yesterday. Not heavy enough to really help the reservoirs significantly but every bit helps.
Doug M - building a train layout in the aquarium?
Have a great day all?
Regards, Roy
Morning all just puttering around need to get dressed and go check mail and bring trash can from the road back up to the back door area.

Good morning all,
Starting a new week but no appointments today. I have simi monthly care giver meeting tomorrow. Last two were cancelled. Wife has dentist and Xray appointment later in week.
Another brush fire in Azusa Canyon a few miles from us but we saw the smoke coming over the ridge in front of our house. I think they have a handle on it now. No smoke this morning.
96 is the high predicted today. Around 100 yesterday. No rain in sight.
later,

Hello thereMade myself a 4 day weekend. Mrs & I went to Flory's Campground near Strasburg. While entering I heard a strange sound from right rear wheel. After trailer unhooked had bad sound and weak brakes. apparently the trailer brakes had been doing most of the stopping.Trip to auto zone and got everything I thought I would possibly need. WRONG.The drum brake was a mess. Two parts of the self adjuster looked like a pretzel. I'd have bet my bottom dollar they'd break while straightening. Wrong again. The Canadians who came to my rescue hammered and twisted till they fit. (Canadians made me think of Blown out ..any body know whats up with him) The one spring that was mangled the worst was not in the kit I bought so we re-manufactured one we didn't need to fit. Shot most of Friday AM but the brakes worked again. I'll be replaceing them before much driving. The PM was spent at the Green Dragon Flea Market near Ephrata. I was disappointed there. 95% cheap import junk and over priced meat and produce.Saturday found us joining the kids at a Dirt Drag at the Delta-Cardiff fair ground literally on the MD PA border south of York.
Got my meet notice last week. drove right past Round the Clock on the way home.
Grandson had problems with the lights and ended up 2nd. Son and his friend won their classes. I got to reminisce with an ex hillclimber I hadn't seen since '95
Ray asked about Dirt Drag photos This is son about half track

Sorry dude - for some reason I thought you were a moderator. Well, I will email Kalmbach. Watching Pickers on the DVR - they were in Memphis. We were just there a few weeks ago. Loved it - the food was great and Graceland was just too cool. Hail to the king, baby!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Busy "Mayor" day. Big storms came through during meeting at restaurant. Fair now. Off early to farms to do more work in the woods.
Sleep tight.

Aloha, Grey and rainy turning into hot and humid - which this summer has not been at all. My last class of the summer is tonight, and another one starts in a few weeks. I like the look of some of the houses and 'ruins' from the pet store. I may go back - they also have some nice Sponge Bob items that would entertain my younger visitors.
Afternoon All.
Really nice out today, humiditty is down a bit as well as the temps.
Today started with a bang. Had a load in the truck and it shifted when I had to brake a little hard. Scratch one rear window. Waiting for a glass company to come out and replace it.
Chief, I thought that you were retired.
Banks, My nephew up in Virginia does the asphalt drag bike thing. Seems to be doing quite well as far as victories are concerned. I gave up bikes many years back when we came to Ca. The traffic was bad but the worst part was riding on the freeways, the grooves they cut in the concrete for better traction in the rain really makes the front tire dance. One ride and it scared the bejeebers out of me.
Waiting for big brown to deliver a package, a couple of repaired engines on their way home.
Hope the rest of the day goes better.
Later all !
Continued prayers for Mike.

Hello all
Back up on the mountain for a few days. We have been getting a fair bit of rain in the Grand Canyon state recently.
Continuing to work Fri and Sat w/ the trolley guys. My first official task of installing handles in the floor hatches of the car we are working on is completed. Turned out fairly decent for a guy who doesn't do too much finished carpentry:) Got to sit in the driver's seat of a 50's Ford Motor Coach Sat. Very cool.
Had some fun w/ the 4dr recently. A couple of push rods and a rocker arm and we were back in business. Chased down a vacuum leak and need to reset the carbs.
Hope Mike checks in once and a while. This group is a good support network.

Evening all. Wifey's birthday. Out for steaks. Totally surprised her with a big fancy rain barrel. Yes, she is delighted. Hard lady to surprise. She has been catching rain in 5 gallon buckets. Uses it to water her many plants. Always bragging about how much water she collects.
Busy day. Town and personal. Got a bad pain in lower left back and leg. When I got home yesterday evening, could hardly get out of Fred's little truck. Do good until I get in and out of vehicles or sitting position. Shame to get old.
Just saw a nice [worn but not bad] 262 tinplate set. Guy at "junk" shop acquired it. Does not know what he has. Switches, light tower, switches, water tank and transformer.
Joe D is probably in transit. Long ways back home.
Have a good one.
That's a great gift for a gardener.

Work has been busy and will be until October. Not much else going on here but with the one day a week I have off I have a lot of honey do list things to finished before her cousin from Texas pays us a visit at the end of the month.
MikeC - Hope things will work out for you. You've had your share of woes the past few years. Please reconsider and keep us informed. Many here support you.
Fife - As with all accidents it makes the drivers involved better. I've once heard that the best truck drivers out there are the ones who have had an accident before. Can't take the road for granted. As long as he didn't hurt anyone, including himself, he'll get better.
Later..................

Evening all
Ray I'm playing your move as I have a package going to John lol.
Couldn't resist picked up a #44 army mobilized missile launcher for less than $30.00 now what needs to be done time will tell. Hopefully I just have to clean it up some inside and out. I know that most of the steps are broke off the shell but that for the price doesn't bother me any. Can do a custom type job on the shell like file all the steps off completely. Who knows it may just be a parts item but for the price I did okay either way.
Morning all. Just a stay in day for me. suppose to hit 99 today 77 presently. Not a lot planned for today may try and do some things on the layout if I feel like it later. don't at the moment but just waking up. Guess time to go make some breakfast. Talk to you all later
Morning all. Hot and humid. Mainly babysitting oldest Daughter's animals will her and hubby are vacating until Sunday. Run back and forth to Rolesville. Only 8 miles one way so not so bad. Last time, was 40 miles one way. Will sleep there at night. Mayor's calendar mostly clear. Saturday night will be free family night movie at middle school football field.
Stay cool.
Chief, happy birthday to Pam Smart choice on the rain barrel.
Need a new skimmer basket on the intake for my pool filter. It is just a plastic thing that floats near the top of the water. I almost fainted when they gave me a price. $125 for a cheap piece of plastic. Think I'll shop around.
Going to outpatient part of hospital for my wife to get her Mamogram today.
late,
Golden Spike Club [Atlas] train car came. Flat car with pipes. Scale. Long sucker. Nice.
It's a Corvair, Dennis! Bob is always with a Corvair or Corvan
