Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck,

Well I am one happy camper today.  I woke up at 0700 this morning to a winter wonderland.  The snow has yet to stop and so far we have received at least six solid inches.  It is supposed to snow for a few more hours and then unfortunately turn to rain.  Either way, the two older kids thoroughly enjoyed playing in the snow and I am looking forward to doing some shoveling once it stops or slows down.  It looks like some more snow is on the horizon for Tuesday.

Chuck – Great job with the snow cannon, thanks.

Brent – I’m glad you and the family are okay.  It’s too bad it took all those calls to the State Police to get things fixed.

Jack – Great job helping the neighbor.  I am shocked that a Sox fan is so nice. Wink

Sayonara,

Joe

Chief - Sorry to read about Berg-dog.

jonadel - Aw man, get a peg.  Peg legs are cool. Pirate

submmbob - Wellllll....?  Is there...? Surprise

88 - That is exactly why we are going to install the MackDaddy of generators at the new house.

Continued Angel to all of our friends on the mend.

Hi GUYZ,

14 here and out the door with the dog.  Had a nice couple a three walks yesterday with her for about 7 miles.  Went over to the Ned Smith Lands and did a nice mile on top of the snow and ice.  It kept my 210 lbs atop the snow without breaking through.  Oh well no crosscountry skiing only if a snow machine goes through today.  Getting a couple of inches tomorrow?

Ran trains last nite for a few hours NO PILE UPs!!!  Then watch opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics.

V8VEGA, African Queen good movie!  Hadn't seen that one in years.

JOEY D,  pace yourself with the SNO HI O.  Strech those back muscles before you start.

RT, CONGAs on the retirement.  Your gonna love it.

Stay frosty my friends,

Good evening all,

Work was busy, but got all caught up on case reports.  Wind was too cold today for my regular walk.  Watched "Field of Dreams" with the "saucy wench" tonight. Hopefully will see grandson play basketball tomorrow.  I do not know much else either.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mike -- if you ever want to get away for a few days and head west you might consider a destination in north east Iowa.  The Field Of Dreams in Dyersville, IA is a fun stop.  Along the way in Galena, IL (fabulous old river town, amazing community) and an overnight in Dubuque, IA would be very enjoyable as a family activity or just a nice long couples weekend.  There's an amazing amount of beauty in that part of our state, PLUS there's a huge abundance of trains running right next to the Mississippi all the way to MPLS, MN YesYes

Fife -- I wish you had mentioned a peg leg earlier, dang it.  I'll check with the surgeon this week at my follow up appt. Thumbs Up

Fresh snow on the ground this morning Laugh

Morning all.  Cloudy and chilly.  Wifey's Nephew's B'day and pig picking this evening [I'm sure some moonshine will show up there].  Off to the store and the Train Box later.

Haven't heard from Buckeye lately.  Would love to see his picture of him in his white nurse's dress and cap [he is nursing Mrs. Buckeye]. Whistling

Good morning all.

Just talked to the President of TTOS Southwestern about my problem engine.  He diagnoses and fixes sometimes, engines of the club members.  He said to bring it in to the meet tomorrow and he will look at it.  I will leave it with him if I have to.  No good the way it is.

We have been having headaches lately with my wife's medicare payments.  For some unexplained reason they have started showing Medicare as her secondary insurance and not the primary which it has been for over 20 years.  Suppose to get a new form sent out for us to correct their mistakes but it has been over 10 days and we are still waiting.  In the mean time we are still getting bills from doctors and hospitals that have not been paid.  Isn't the government wonderful?  I have been over this more than once with the custormer service representative for Medicare and it seems that they can only correct mistakes one at a time unless you make a permanent correction in writing.  Hence, the forms we are waiting for.  Bear in mind, that this whole problem is their mistake so how come we are doing all the leg work for them?

Watched the Olympic games opening last night.  They had a slight glitch with snowflake designs that were suppose to turn into the 5 rings of the Olympic logo.  All but one did but the fifth malfuntioned.  No big deal to me but the media is talking about it a lot.  Also papers are full of a lot of stories about how the Russian goverment is politicizing the games.  Guess that's nothing new.

Sister's dental work is back on track and progressing well.  Talked to my niece yesterday.

Have a good weekend,

Ray

Good evening all,

Jon, the wife and I have talked of taking the trip you suggested.  Not sure if we ever will, but it is good to know the field still exists.   Some of the thoughts expressed in that movie apply to almost all sports.  Went to see grandson play basketball today.  One team was on the court, but it was not his today.  His team got the first 2 points and the other team scored the 30 or so.  It was nice to get out of the house.   Had a nice meal at Steak'n'Shake afterwards, and did some shopping at Sam's Club and Barnes and Noble.  Scored Beyonce's latest CD and Neil Young's book, "Waging Heavy Peace".  I know my musical tastes are a bit eccentric ranging from Bey to NY, and my choices in trains are different  as well, with O-27 and standard gauge dominating my choices.  It was a good day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

We received anywhere from 13-19 inches of snow yesterday and last night so we were snowed in this morning and that put a smile on my face.  Church services were cancelled and I spent about two hours this morning shoveling out the cars, front porch, and sidewalk.  It warmed up to about 45 this afternoon so I’m glad I shoveled early before the snow started to melt and become heavy.  We had a nice day that included homemade hot chocolate and scones.  I guess all the roads are not completely clear because the base will be operating at minimal manning tomorrow which means I have a day off from work.

Laz – I enjoyed the snow shoveling workout this morning, but we’ll see how I feel tomorrow morning.  On another note, this morning I had a nice discussion with my father about bootleg coal houses.  After my grandfather died, my dad had to quit high school to help out and he worked at one for a short time.

SP Ray – I hope you get the wife’s insurance straightened out.  I’m glad your sister’s dental care is back on track.

Fife – Enjoy the baptism.  Like John, they were always a big deal in my family.

Sayonara,

Joe

Hi GUYZ,

17 cold degrees here and a little SNO HI O tis after.  Had a nice evening with WIFE, went to dinner and had wings and boli good eats.  Then came home ran trains for an hour NO PILE UPs!!!!  Watched the Olympics, was wowed by the little Russian gal on skates man she can skate.  Alos was STOKED by SAGE on the board he got GOLD.  SAGE AWESOME DUDE!!!!

JOEY D,  I wish I knew more of my two GRANDFATHERs encounters down deep in the holes.  One of them had to wait and listen for the whistles to go off at 5PM each day.  My MOM would have to listen for the whistle to see if my GRANDAD had work, one meant come to work and two meant no work.  She also had to wrap my GF feet everyday with leggings wraps to keep his feet warm inside of the boots.  I still have his helmet, which was bakelite material and his carbide lamp on my bookcase.  I look at it everyday to remind me where I came from.  Once a COALCRACKER always a COALCRACKER.

Musta been some life?

Cloudy and chilly but forecasters are stills saying a high of 56.

Snohio in Japan.  Just don't think about it.

Poor Yanks are going to get another round of snow.

Train Box this afternoon.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Sunny And Cold Taxachusetts,

Got a dusting overnight and might get another today, probably not enough to shovel. Yesterday I cleaned out the dog crates in the SRX, laundered their dog beds from the crates, and then opened all of the car windows and the sunroof to air out the insides. I got up this morning only to realize I forgot last night to close the car windows and sunroof. Got some snow in there. :-( Bang Head

Ray SP........stay on the Medicare beauracracy. You paid for it. Don't sit, wait, and wonder about the form for more than a couple of days before you follow up with them. I am glad there is progress with your sister's choppers!!!! Thumbs Up

JoeyD and LAZ......I enjoy the stories of yesteryear and your families. Each of us probably read them and they triggered a memory of our own.

BTW......JoeyD, you still remember how to shovel snow!!! That is a lot of snow for Japan, no? You will be glad to know that yesterday the semis with all of the Red Sox gear departed for FLA. and spring training. And A-ROD caved on his lawsuit against MLB and will serve his suspension.......gonzo for the next year.

BUCKEYE......I am with the CHIEF, want to see pictures of you in your nurse's outfit. Don't forget to shave your legs. :-) Whistling

V8 Dennis.......what are you going to get to replace your Fiero?

The place is a wreck after the grandchildren visit last night. While they were here we suffered through a furnace outage for 5 hours.  Despite the outdoor temps in the low 20s, the indoor temps upstairs and down never dipped below 65. Luckily, my furnace people showed up around 8:30pm and replaced some plastic gear and had me up and running inside 10 minutes of his arrival.  Then I heard the words we all love to hear "No charge, covered by your service plan!!!"    Thumbs Up

Started out sunny now gray....Nice way to ruin my sleep. Window faces due east and the sun got me up early.....Like Fife, doing house work and laundry. Looks like 1-3 inches of white stuff. C'mon Spring! Bought an alarm clock last night and it has no AM band. Charges the cell phone, has an AUX jack and the sound was great. FM reception was awesome but the clock light was too bright so it's going back. Watching GOON a pretty enjoyable movie on Netflix....yep its hockey. Got my Sportster to the Harley dealer and they wanted $1200 to fix the forward controls, oil & filter change and 2 tires. Hah...no way. The parts delivered to my house are $345. AND they only will give me $1200 on trade, but they won't take it. More to come..... Angel to all in need

Good Afternoon! 30 and waiting for the Snow, Down the Jersey Shore.

A nice relaxing day so far. Church this morning, brunch, a little relaxing and now Doray is going thru stuff to see what is going! Reorganizing the house.

Joe D: Snow and a Day off! It does not get any better.

Jack: Aired out the SRX and left the sunroof and windows open and it snowed! lol I did that with the Explorer but it was summer and it just started raining when I remembered.

Chief: Looks like you had a good time yesterday. Good Eats!

Fife: Enjoy the Company.

RT: We are doing the same. Early Spring Cleaning!

RBANDR: Enjoy the Sunshine! Send some this way but you Can Keep the GRITS! lol

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Enjoy the Day!

I've never seen such a bunch so out of touch with the world of medicine.  The nurses now wear dark blue scrubs and nurses aids wear burgandy.  So what am I wearing?  When you shovel snow 24/7 you wear a heavy coat, gloves, stocking hat, blue jeans and boots.  We had another 3 inch dusting today.

RT...Congratulations on retirement.  Now take a deep breath and relax.

Chuck....How did you rig the snow cannon to hit Japan?  Big Smile

fifedog.....A natural gas or propane generator is what you need for WV.  BTW, you should check out Leahman's Hardware  https://www.lehmans.com/default.aspx  You don't need to buy out the store but there are a few products that will make going without power more comfortable and they are field tested extensively by the Ohio Amish.

Mike C....We visited the Field of Dreams site and it was really worth it.  However, I would suggest following the Mississippi north along the river road and see Minneapolis, then head to Duluth and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.

Did anyone see Animal Plantes Treehouse segment where they built a brewery in a tree house?

After I finish the laundry, I'm heading back to the rehab clinic to see Mrs. Buckeye.  She is taking large amounts of pain killers for the knee replacement but PT is going well.

Spent more time in the basement today.  I'm about 65% done with framing as of now.  My Dad came tonight and is staying for a couple days to help me finish it up.  So far it's going well.  I'm loving my new Milwaukee tools.

Cloudy all day today. Started in the mid 30's, dropping to single digits tonight. We got another inch + while we were at the steak house for lunch. Whoever is running the snow cannon, please check the choke on it. I think it is getting worn from all of the use this year - we seem to be on the edge of the pattern more often. Watched the tribute to the Beatles tonight. Enjoyable program. Something struck me as odd about the old Ed Sullivan footage - then it struck me - the back of my oldest sister's head was not in front of the picture. She was 14 at the time and had a pretty good case of Beatle-mania. I'm running Window Explorer 11 on this lap top. Nothing happens when I click on the borders. Does anybody else running WE 11 have issues with the features on the forum? All for now.

Mornin' fellas and gals:   Went to Wayne train meet yesterday. Kinda on the small side. I expected to see some of my Pot brethren but in my current state of decrepitude I may have missed them. I was there for about two hours. Met some swell train fellows; had a good time anyway.  Worth the trip.       later.

Aloha. Bitter cold here again (air temp is -4 and the wind chill about -23) but at least the sun's out. Got my notice to take in the little SUV for emissions testing. I'll wait 'til it warms up. Like in June. Had a nice weekend - our church had a 'night' for its volunteers at a local bowling alley. I can't do anything like bowling yet but I took the youngest and he had fun at the arcade. We also saw The Lego Movie which I highly recommend. There's a nice train scene in it too.  I also started to make some farm land for the layout. I've been looking for the right kind of cardboard - with the rippled in it after you wet and tear off its 'cover' - then I'll add white glue and ground foam. Hope it looks like tilled soil. Basement is really coming along, Charlie.  Hope your wife's recovery is going well, Buckeye. Sending cold air to points east.

Mornin' All.

The munchkin was here Friday nite so between the museum and being up very early Saturday for "bacon waffles" grampa was exhausted the rest of the weekend. The daughter's B'day is this week so I fixed one of her favorites for lunch then the munchkin and I surprised her with a B'day cake.

Laz, Hope you have room in your freezer:

Beer float, anyone? Yuengling's Ice Cream makes return after long absence. Whistling

Doug, Glad to see you are out-n-about, even though it has restrictions.

Jon, If I had used one of those bells when "incapacitated" the "BetterHalf" would have told me what to do with it, which cannot be said here. Black Eye

Still no word from my cardiologist on my tests last week, guess I'll drop his office an e-mail. Grumpy

Glad to see our friends are on the mend, go easy on the rcovery routines and follow Drs orders.

Gotta run, later all !
