Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........
Good Morning, Joe..........
It is a cold 12 degrees. About 2 inches of snow on the ground. Going up to 24 today with no more snow.
Today is a busy day. I have a few chores and a project to work on. Busy until lunch, the a nap.
Cheerios for breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Morning. Sunny and chilly but not cold. Warming some. A lot better than it has been. After all, its winter.
Suppose to go to meeting out in the Triangle. May not. Tired of running miles to meetings. It really is not an important one. One for show only. May stay and do Box work and walk. Missed my walking as weather has been bad.
Hope all the ice and snow folks are doing OK. Not good.
Prayers for all our invalids. Speedy recovery.
Wifey headed to VA this afternoon to see her Sis.

Warm it up by second weekend in March, please. Got to fly down and work Bass Pro Shops in Ft Lauderdale.
Good morning all, cold and gray day here. Good day to hear that song ":California Dreaming" by the Mamas and Papas. Cold here nothing like what you guys in the East are getting. Our weather is a walk in the park compared to that. We might get a little rain tonight.
Son took us out to eat last night at Black Angus. Good steak and huge shrimp split open and served like lobster. Had to go to nighboring town since they closed the B.A. closer to us. Going out to lunch with train buddies today at Chinese restaurant.
Best wishes and prayers to our walking wounded and even those not walking.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
........Jack – Don’t keel over from all the shoveling. Shouldn’t the city have to clear out the fire hydrant?
Sayonara,
Joe
Yes, Joe, technically speaking the fire department goes around and digs out the buried fire hydrants after snow storms. But I would rather they be rested and at the ready. They have enough responsibility.
With all of the fire hydrants in my city of 39,000, that is a lot of digging. My feeling is simple......those that can help out should. Those that can't help due to age, health, etc., have the fire department to jump in.
Realistically, it takes some time to dig all of those suckers out. Figure one guy can do it in 15 minutes with a six foot perimeter. Compressed snow and ice, probably longer.
Practically speaking, if a house is going to burn to the ground because the fire department could not find the closest hydrant or they had to take precious minutes to dig one out for hose hookup, it ain't gonna be my house!
My beef is with the neighbors who are able and/or have a snow plow service. I am not getting any help from those people.
Ironically, those that can't help out always stop and say thank you sooner or later while the able bodies out there probably feel guilty or are embarassed and avoid eye contact, worried I just might ask them to grab a shovel and help!!!!
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Chief......I read Jon's post from yesterday. If I understand him correctly, he is out there chopping, splitting, and stacking fire wood!!! One one leg no less. He must be tough!!!
I figure I will see lawn in 90 days tops!!!!
Thanks Jack - yeah if more citizens cleared the hydrants, the old saying goes many hands make light work.
Hey boys, bright and sunny here in Central Jersey. Still cold.
Not much else on the radar just yet, just work. County meeting cancelled due to ice, it's ok, I needed to make the fire call at 10 pm.....lol
I have another project to work on, purchased an already assembled (partially) KBL Industries building. I'm going to attempt to put it on a foundation and then section it off and light it. Probably frost the windows and add a welders arc LED inside some where.
Not much else....

Jack -- you just made me laugh out loud Tree cutting always happens in early spring and maybe June, too hot after that. Splitting/stacking happens in October -- no humidity. Moving wood to a rack near the front door happens in November and depending on the weather a full rack will last a few weeks except during January and February when we go through one full rack a week. I loaded it the day before my surgery and tomorrow Sharyl will fill it again, hoping the temps moderate to 15 above I will be supervising from a recliner with the foot elevated!
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Aloha. It was nice and bright today but the bitter cold is returning... It was a good day of work. Got a lot done. That's a lot of wood, Jon! 8n, you could try dragging a corner of the browser on your laptop screen and see if the top appears. Jack, we're supposed to 'adopt' the nearest fire hydrant and clear it out. I try to keep the one closest to the house clear - but it keeps getting buried.

Had a great lunch with train buddies on Chinese food. We were in the place for about one and one half hours then adjourned to my place for trains etc. We were here for another two hours. Started raining after lunch and really came down for a while. Best rain we have had yet this winter. Burned areas ought to be really soaked by now.
Jay Leno is having his last appearance on the Tonight Show tonight.. Watched it last night too but fell asleepl. I saw the last Carson show too when he left but he was there for 30 years. I think Jay has been on for 22. Show is moving back to New York after this one closes. Jury is still out on Jimmy Fallon but I think he will do better than Conan did last time. I did not care for Conon O'Brian when he was on the tonight show.. He just wasn't funny in my book.
Good evening all,
Hmmm. It seems the Firefox option for posting at least allows for formatting. Good day at work as I made it in on time and got to work the entire day without interruption for meetings and/ or IT issues. Should get caught up tomorrow. Lots of cases. Too many people not paying attention to what they are doing. Watched a hour long show on PBS about a Norwegian train trip along their western coast. Now WHY would I be interested in that type of program? :-) I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

so you wouldn't have to be hobbling around the house on crutches w/an adult beverage in hand. Wouldn't want you to spill anything, "waste not want not".
All packed and staged for the museum tomorrow.

Good night all. Can't believe it. Blowing fine snow. Not sticking as too warm at the ground. Actually lazy day. Really didn't feel up to par. Hope I'm not getting the tummy virus all the folks are having. Early meeting tomorrow morning.

Actually, Jack is not the fire dept.'s hero as you think. He cleans away from the hydrants so his dogs can pee.
Jon work!!!! He is a retired band director and leader. He can't get those precious fingers calloused or blistered.
Sleep tight.
I took a day of leave from work today to stay at home with the youngest so the wife could participate in a culture club event. We’ve had a good day thus far. He went to the gym with me so I could have a quick run on the treadmill and then we took care of a couple of errands. We don’t have much else planned for the day but the wife will probably shop for groceries tonight as it looks like we might get anywhere from 7-13 inches of snow tomorrow. I sure hope so but I won’t believe it until I see it.
Jack – I did not mean the Fire Department should have to shovel; I agree with you that they have much more important things to do. I simply meant that the city should have employees (those who sweep streets, etc.) that could do that task. Or, the city should pay a private company to do it. I am like you though, I have always shoveled out the hydrants that were near my house.
SP Ray – I have never found any of the recent late night talk shows hosts funny, including Leno. I used to think Letterman was funny but now I think he has become too raunchy. I’m glad I’m usually asleep before they come on.
Hello all
Slept in most of the day trying to get back on schedule.
Bought a little folding bicycle yesterday that will fit into the Blazers when I pick up the truck. My regular 3-spd that I built is a tight squeeze and taking the bus is a bit like watching the news for me. Just a bit too depressing.
We got a little rain tonight and that means more snow on the mountain.
Trimmed off the bottom of a bookshelf that th director gave me tonight. Fits nicely into one corner of the living room. Tomorrow I will move the electronics and radios over to the house. If i can get the workbench moved this weekend (its going under the train table), I may be able to downsize my storage unit next week.
I'm not sure Clawde knew what to make of all the saw noise, but he didn't run away. Scorpions don't have very good eyesight or hearing, but they are sensitive to pressure and movement.
Doctor's appointment tomorrow. Haven't seen her in a while due to my crazy work schedule moving the telescope from New Mexico.

Hi GUYZ,
No SNO HI O yesterday. WOW? What gives CHUCK, SNOW CANNON broke? Nice day to give the snow blower a break. Beers tasted good last nite after all that shoveling and blowing of the snow. Gonna taste good tonite too with trains. Like my Ol Mil commercial says "it doesn't get any better then this".
SUBMMBOB, watch them scorpions. We had a bunch of them out in Escondido back when me and my BROs built my SISs house in '86.
JACK, I also do my job cleaning those hydrants, ya never know?
BUCKEYE & CHUCK, TGIF!!!!!
Hey GUYZ 30 more dayz and it back to daylight savings time, which means light a lot longer!!!!
Stay frosty my friends,

I shared with Sharyl your suggestions (which I thought were outstanding) about a bell, she did laugh and then said "let me find one" she did find one but had removed the clapper Her next objective is to design a cup holder for the crutches, I HATE not being able to carry a cup of coffee around the house
Hope your day goes great at the Museum, I wish we were still in SD right now -- rehab would go even better. It's only -3 right now, MUCH better than yesterday, sheesh.
Afternoon. Busy meeting morning. Left home at 6:30. Sunny and really warming. 50's today. Speaker at early meeting was a PHD from UWI. She said it was nice to be somewhere the temps were double digits.
Now to go to lunch with Hunters Haven owner.
Work in Train Box this PM [I hope}.
jonadel I HATE not being able to carry a cup of coffee around the house

Like I said, no work for him. No callouses on those fingers.

Afternoon Fellas... been in the dark for a couple days without power, and a downed line across the entrance/exit to the neighborhood. I typically am understanding of the powerline crews - but not this time. 30+ families had to risk their lives to get into and out of their homes, 20+ calls to the power company went unheard and ignored... till a few of us called and raised a roukus with the state police. It should NOT be the responsibility of the home owners to stay on top of companies like this... and we have no other option for electric service unless we want to dump $30,000+ on solar/wind systems. And I can gaurantee they will be asking the Public Utility Commision for permission to raise rates in the next 3 months.Sorry for the rant, but I find this to be highly disgusting.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Sunny Taxachusetts,
Temperatures dipped down to 9 last night, high 20s today, then back to single digits tonight. Weather misforecasters think the fronts from the Southeast and the West may miss us this weekend.
I just got in from clearing an area of the back yard with the snowblower so that the dogs can roam a tad and I can more easily locate their "presents" for proper disposal. Chief......our dogs love the red fire hydrant as do everyone else's male dogs. I am surprised the acidity does't take the paint right off that thing.
The plows came through again on my road yesterday morning to widen the road some more. That meant more shovelling for me before the stuff became an unmoveable mound of ice. I wish they would just clear the road and be done with it. Mental note: must remember to buy some more ibuprofen as I am running low.
I pulled a mini-LAZ yesterday and performed some snow removal for a friend. She is 70 and her husband is wheelchair bound. Felt good to help her out. She is a wonderful lady. Has to to cover all of the bases herself, no kids or relatives close by. She was initially resisting until I told her to please go back inside and spend some time with Pam. The final frontier was digging out and cleaning off her extended GMC Yukon XLT. The roof was a pain, enough space up there to land a small airplane. She poked her head out while I was cleaning off the Yukon roof, started to protest again. I told her she would be of some help in the future if she bought smaller, shorter vehicles, or just turned her car upside down for the next storm.
RaySP......from the sounds of your posts, you must be on a see-food diet.
JON......my wife considers certain tasks MW (men's work). She is as likely to shovel snow and haul firewood as skip a sale at the mall. She would have me out there crawling on my belly if I were in your situation. You need to wear a bathrobe with large Captain Kangaroo-sized pockets to carry your stuff around while on crutches. Travel mugs too that don't spill.
BRENT.....glad you got your power back on before the original power company prediction of Saturday at midnight. Many others are probably not so lucky. With little ones......you have far more to worry about. Lucky thing you took your scheduled weekly bath last weekend and didn't skip it.
DougDG......that bell looks more like a weapon. JON would have to wear a helmet if his wife got ahold of it.
Chief.......hope that tummy upset cleared up. I want to thank you for all of the weather-related teasing during the past few days. It really does help take the edge off the frustration and fatigue.
V8......re Jay Leno and his sometimes standoffish demeanor in public. He can't go anywhere and do anything without being besieged by the public. I can understand that the friendlier he is the worse it gets.
JoeyD......7"-13" of sno-hi-o for you tomorrow? CHUCK'S aim is really off!
BOB......what is Clawde's favorite cuisine? And what would you do if he escaped? Do they make scorpion traps? Does he come when he is called?
Later, gang.
Good Afternoon! 36 and Sunny Down the Shore! But not for long.
Spent yesterday at Mom's doing snow and ice removal. We had only rain and ice here, 60 miles North 2-4" and it looked like a scene from Dr. Zhivago. I spread 60lbs of salt to clear the ice.
Jon: Glad that you are doing good.
Bob: Good Luck at the Doc's.
Joe D: Enjoy the snow.
Brent: Glad that I retired from the Electric Company when I did. I am surprised they left the line in the road and not have someone doing a Standby. Heads would be rolling right now at the Company where I worked. That must be why they won the Reliability One Award again.
Enjoy the Day!
John
Jack, thanks for the concern. A little headache [just had big sneezing spell so probably better] but tummy fine. Just ate Chinese buffet. Wifey in VA. Only meal for today.
Evening all Well I'm now officially retired ( thou not collecting SSI for another 3 years ( this way I get to cheat the chief out of my share while I just lay around and do nothing ( Yankee know-how lol) Chief will probably try to come up with some smart remark but actually mad he didn't think of it a Yankee was smarter than him.
Well was taking a shower tonight and wife says you need to hurry up the truck's left rear tire is flat all the way down to the rim. ( like it mattered when I did it lol )
Anyway was going to change it but couldn't get spare off as it has a secondary locking system and couldn't get it to release so will take it Monday or Tuesday to gm dealer and have them show me lol. put enough air in tire to get to a firestone store and let them pull it and patch it ( $20) so not bad would of had to pay it anyway lol.
Well not much else going on will talk to you all later.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Nothing smart to say while I am drawing your share while you are just sitting around drawing nothing.
My share your not drawing as my share isn't suppose to start until 2017 so you can't be drawing it.
Work was busy, but got all caught up on case reports. Wind was too cold today for my regular walk. Watched "Field of Dreams" with the "saucy wench" tonight. Hopefully will see grandson play basketball tomorrow. I do not know much else either. I hope everyone has a good day.
