lion88roar I enjoyed the SuperBowl this year. Seattle had never won one and it was nice to see them do so. (I was born in Tacoma, just South of Seattle). IMHO, Seattle was the most complete team this year. Great Defense, decent Offense. Their coaching was also pretty good, guys didn't miss assignments, made plays, and held onto the ball.On Sunday prior to the game, I ventured down to the train room and got more of the mountain painted and sceniced. Now need to install some rock faces, trees, and finishing touches... probably another 12 months!

Welcome back Doug M.
Chief, sorry to hear that Burg is nearing the end of the trail. Always tough to part with pets.
Went for blood test this morning. I was only 2nd in line and had to wait for an hour. Must have been something going on in the lab.
Cool weather today and all week. More showers forcast for mid week. We can use it. Good luck to you guys in the snow. Sounds bad!
Don, keep on truckin!

Good Afternoon! 32 and SNOW on the way!
Spent the day splitting firewood, make that a couple of hours. lol Lousy weather for the rest of the week. Doray is doing good with her PT. Other than that all is quiet.
Doug M: Glad you are Back. Speedy Recovery!
Don: I saw what PT did for Doray after the double knee replacement. Keep at it! The Doc told her it may be a year before her swelling goes completely down. She said great, thunder thighs! Her legs looked like they were tie dyed, but the color faded.
Buckeye: Best wishes to your wife.
Chief: Sorry about Burg.
Joe D: At least you got some snow!
Enjoy the Day!

Afternoon All.
Back from tests, now just have to wait for cardiologist to review the results. Improvement, no change or ????. At least the nurses/techs didn't exclaim "uh-oh".
Got a call earlier today from a friend who was driving back from the San Berdoo area on I-215 South. You guys in the the I-10/I-215 interchange area may find this interesting. Just South of the interchange on the West side of the freeway they are adding lanes which required some cast concrete retaining walls. Ted was coming by as they were removing the forms and guess what was showing in the new walls, as best he could see(w/o maybe causing traffic issues) it appeared to be the Superchief image cast in the concrete. Wonder how long it will be before a tagger marks their turf.
Chief, It is easy to accept it is best for a pet not to have to live in misery, but that doesn't mitigate the loss one feels afterwards.
Sounds like most of you are in for a week or two of some really bad weather, again.
Time to try to figure out what's for supper.
Later all.

Chief.....I've been thinking about Burg ever since you posted. He has been with you pushing two decades through a lot of living. It made me think of each of the dogs I have had and have lost. They take a piece of us with them when they leave us.
Prayers for your Burg.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good night all.
Burg took his last ride to the Vet [a buddy of mine] around 4:30 today. Good thing he did. Vet said he had not muscle mass in left rear leg, no real motion in front left leg and something felt unusual in his bladder. In fact while Vet was feeling of bladder, he peed on the floor. Great dog but time to go. Thanks for the concerns. Wifey was only a little teary but OK with it too. That meant it was time as she is usually the most upset.
Chilly and raining. Poured a few times.
Sleep tight.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
It was much colder today and that made me happy. The high was only in the mid-30s. Only a little snow remains from yesterday’s snowfall, but it looks like some more is on the way for this Saturday. The workday was fine and our new commander arrived today; the outgoing boss leaves this Saturday. The two older kids are having piano lessons right now so we’ll take it easy tonight.
Train news: A Weaver Ultra Line car I won on eBay arrived today. It is a special run PRR coal hopper decorated for the Anthracite Miners Memorial at Girard Park in Shenandoah, PA (my hometown). I’m trying to find the other associated cars and have a bid on one for Ashland, PA.
Doug – Japan does have some extreme weather. I’m glad those tales have happy endings.
Laz – The Mollies were Men. I would like to have coal breakers on the layout one day too, but as you said layout size may limit that. I suppose the standard commercial models will have to work.
Chief – I’m sorry to hear about Burg.
Sayonara,
Joe
Hello there,
Quick check in this AM.
My York Pass came yesterday.
I'm brought back to reality this morning by 4" of sleet when I got up. When I left for w**k it had 1/8" of ice on top of it with a slow steady rain adding to it.
Doug.......glad to see you back
Chief......sorry to hear about Burg......

Good Morning from Blueberryhill.......
Good Morning, Joe........
It is nasty outside. About 2 inches of snow on the ground and it is raining ice. 32 degrees.
We are staying inside today. A few chores to do and then I will do some reading. Have a nice lunch and take a long nap.
Chief......Sorry about your dog. Good decision.
Breakfast as usual.
Y'all have a great and warm Wednesday.
Chuck
Aloha. My condolences on the passing of Burg, Chief. Hope your ear is feeling better. Glad to hear you are on the mend too, Don. Praying for your recovery and that of Mrs. Buckeye. Brent, the Seahawks reminded me of the '85 Bears - great defence, OK-enough offense. Despite the score, I enjoyed the match-up.4 inches of snow overnight. Just enough to be annoying. I am glad I do not have to travel in it today, though it was fun taking the youngest to early-school. No one on the roads at that hour, no plows. I actually enjoy driving in school The old Honda CRV is just right for this weather. I'm not supposed to do snow-shovel so maybe a miracle will happen and it will all melt away before Kelly has to come home from work. Sorry to say the snow is heading off to points east - there was a lot more of it to the south of us.
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Hi GUYZ,
Same as BANKS here about 3-4 inches of SNO HI O, TANKs CHUCK now freezing rain. Lots o shoveling, Snow blower don't work to good in this slop. Refreeze to nite.
CHIEF, been thinking about BURG and you all yesterday. Prayers for you and BURG, till you meet again. And it will happen.
Stay frosty my friends,
laz57
Rainy morning. Warming as we speak. Fair and 60's this afternoon.
Doug, glad you are doing well.
Wifey has not shed a tear over Burg since I got home. She finally knew it was the right time. This is good. He had been her "watch dog" for years. When I traveled after retirement, he was here. When I went to the lake house, he was here. He was big and barked loud. She felt safe.
Off for blood draw for a follow up next week. Then lady from Wake Med [big hospital] is coming for lunch and a tour of Rville. Talking to them about a presence here.
Afternoon free. Maybe get in train box. Got new TIU I haven't installed yet. Where does the time go?
Just finished DVR'd Killer Women.

Chief sorry to hear he will always be in your alls heart keep the great memories
Good Afternoon From Snowy Cape Ann,
Just got in from two hours of snowblowing and shovelling. Wife is still in her pajamas. The city plows just came by and reburied the end of my driveway. Yes, Buckeye and SJ were most generous and shared their snow with me. And thanks to DougM for passing his snow on to them. Unfortunately, I have no one to pass mine on to except for the fishies in the Atlantic ocean.
I had 9 inches accumulation of the heavy stuff two hours ago, measured depth on the table on my deck. And the snow has continued non stop since then. Another front from my Southwest and LAZ and Banks is due late this afternoon. The forecasters have also revised my forecasted storm total upward to 9"-12" and yet I am supposed to get 3 more inches this afternoon. Somehow the math ain't working.
Whomever invented the snowblower should be canonized, regardless of their religious affiliation.
Gotta warm up, rest up, and do some POT reading.
Later, gang.
Jack.
Chief, condolences on the loss of Burg. Glad you and the Mrs. are OK with the decision. Sounds like it was the right time but never easy.
Wife got a good report from oncology doctor yesterday. Next appointment in 6 months.
Prayers for you guys in the snow.
I just got in from assessing the gift I have received from the city plows. Summary: the end of the driveway is once again impassable, about two feet of packed down snow and ice. They missed the curb earlier today by about 4 feet and this time used a piggy back tandem of plows to do me in but good. The fire hydrant across the street is nowhere to be seen, and will take me about a half hour to clear out. I think I will relax for a couple of hours. Overnight temps will be dropping and this stuff will freeze, so I can't let it go. The misforecasters are talking about more snow for Sunday.
Chief.......Burg can never be replaced. If I had to guess, your wife is trying mightily to keep a stiff upper lip. She will need some serious consoling. All you guys are going to think my wife and I are crazy (and we are), but the cremated remains of our last three dogs are sitting in my wife's china cabinet. Me? She will probably have a hole dug in the back yard and deposit my remains there when the time comes.
DougM......it is great to see you posting again and to hear that you are making steady progress. Don't worry about the snow. It will take care of itself or another good samaritan will surface to help you out.
DougDG......read about your recent tests on which you are awaiting results. I hope they come back with good news. At least the Docs can't yell at you in person if they think you have been a bad boy. There is always tomorrow to make adjustments. Besides, what would doctors expect coming off the holidays. My attitude: those in the medical profession are lucky to have patients like you and me. Without us they would be unemployed!!
HudsonJohn.......I was glad to read that your wifey is up and at 'em. Buckeye......I hope your wife is likewise progressing. These ladies don't mess around, choosing to go the double whammy. They are TOUGH!!!
JON.....after the description of what the surgeons had to do to fix your foot, I would assume you are struggling a bit right now. Just hop out to your garage, look at your bike, and set up your recovery plan to be back riding by June.
RaySP......I was glad to read that your wife is doing OK and that the Docs like what they see.
V8 Dennis......I hope it is snowing by you.
Brent.......happy first birthday to your little guy, Matthew!!!!! Where are the pictures of his party or of the kiddies playing in the snow.
My ten year old granddaughter was asked again to sing the national anthem at her school's basketball game. No music, a cappella. She did not miss a note, got quite the ovation, and I captured her on video. She was also one of only 15 at her school asked to participate in a city-wide choir. Then the coup de gras, she scored a lead role in her school play. I am as proud as a grandpa can be. She still has that immune system disorder that is inhibiting her clotting factor. But the doctors say her blood count is picking up and they don't need to see her until March for another test. They have avoided both transfusions and medications, choosing to let her immune system to right itself without help.
Dog training for the wife with Maximus and Raven up in Maine was cancelled for this evening due to the weather. That will free me up to continue snow duties. I am off to take some pre-emptive ibuprofen. I ain't 30 any more. Hell. I ain't 60 either.
36 and Light Rain Down in Bayville, NJ
We missed the snow but we got the ice and some flooding. Temps are heading down later today. The North and West of us got it real bad with Snow, up to 12" to the North. Leaving with Doray for her PT in a little while.
Jack: Congrats to your Granddaughter. I feel really good for you, the family and her. May she get well soon. From your local firefighters, thanks for clearing the hydrant! Agreed, the inventer of the snowblower should be a Saint!!!
May all with needs recover quickly and may all tests come back GOOD!
Be Careful Out There!
Frank -- condolences to you and Pam, Burg was a member of your family and will be missed, talk about unconditional love -- that's what your best friends do. I still miss my best buddy and it's been 9 years, we didn't replace him because we do enjoy the ability to just throw a suitcase in the car and take off. I never enjoyed taking him in to be boarded but I think he enjoyed it, they took great care of him. We will all meet our beloved friends at the "Rainbow Bridge", I feel confident about that.
Jack -- it's now been one week since the surgery and I'm feeling good, I'm still not very good with the crutches but at least I haven't crashed yet. Whenever one of the crutches falls over my wife is like an emergency responder, wow. From Wed. through Sunday was like a fog, no pain at all and I slept like a hibernating bear. I stopped the pain pills on Sunday night because of a few uncomfortable side effects and all is well once again, whew. I go back to the surgeon in one week and hopefully I'll get a walking boot, right now I cannot put any pressure on the foot.
Surprisingly, I do not have cabin fever and I feel comfortable sitting (or lying) here and reading while also catching up on all the DVR episodes. Our youngest grandson was here this last weekend and that was a wonderful diversion for all of us. We have a walk out basement so the bike is many steps down to the garage and I just don't have the confidence to attack those steps yet, hopefully this weekend because that's where the trains are! I can't imagine being laid up like this during nice weather, HA.
We received 5.5 " of snow last night and thankfully it didn't blow. Now we are headed to the deep freeze tonight but our living room fireplace wood insert is working like a champ, it's surprising how cutting/splitting/moving firewood can warm you up more than once. Well worth the effort
Best To All!
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Chief, sorry to hear about the passing of Burg.
Another round of snow here today. Seems it just keeps coming.

MichRR714 Chief, sorry to hear about the passing of Burg. Another round of snow here today. Seems it just keeps coming.
I am way past being tired of snow. Worst winter we have had in years.
Good night all. Clear and warming [yes]. Suppose to be clear for the next two days.
Thank for the kind words. Wifey talked to SIL in VA tonight and did not tear. Good.
Jack, congrats on the big snow event.
I feel for those in PA without power. Might mean being cold. Do NOT like frozen rain and ice storms. Snohio, OK. Ice, no.
Actually stayed "Town busy" most of the day. Church dinner tonight.
Ear thingy gone. Meds worked.
Talked to a CC center lady yesterday in SD. It was minus something for the high. Was to get to 0 today she said. BURRR
Off to bed early.
Sleep tight
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
The sun was shining today. Enjoyed it. One could fool themselves into thinking is was a warm day merely by ingnoring the single digit temperatures and the double digit wind gusts. WE got another 3" or so of snow after I shoveled last might. The wind filled in some of my work as well. Got it cleared out again tonight. At least it is the light and fluffy type of snow. The storm dumped about 8" on us.
Nothing going on the train front.
This is interesting. I am writing this on our desk top instead of the lap top. The browser running on this machine has the full control panel on top of the writing area, where the browser running on the laptop does not seem to allow that. I'll bet that the blank lines in my text stay put when I post this as well. Anybody else seeing this?
All for now.
Hello all
Today was one of those days where if there was a comet or asteroid heading toward earth, I wouldn't be to broken up about it.
Nothing earth shattering so to speak, just frustration, frustration. Alas.
Jon - glad to hear you are on the mend.
Chief - thoughts for you and the family.
I keep telling myself it could be worse. I could be Justin Bieber and have that hair and that train wreck of a life

I had a brief 3-mile run this morning. It was cold and windy so it felt great. Today’s high was in the mid-30s. I had a great deal of paperwork to do at work today so it made the day go faster. The wife made sweet potato hash, fried eggs, and bacon for dinner tonight. The sweet potato hash was out of sight. It’s about time to enjoy a glass of wine.
Jack – Don’t keel over from all the shoveling. Shouldn’t the city have to clear out the fire hydrant?
8N – What internet browsers are you using? I know IE10 was not compatible with CTT, but Mozilla Firefox is.
