Went down and mowed my parents yard while it was still cool. At least I got that much done today. Now I'm looking at the layout. It has a bunch of stuff on it that got relocated in the kitchen tear down. My mind is screaming 'Clean it!' and my body is screaming 'OH NO YOU DON'T!'. I didn't get much sleep last night. So far the body is winning. I just want to pass out for two or three hours.

Good morning all,

Chief, hope the situation re Marty is not as bad as it sounds.  Will reserve judgement until more is revealed.

Spanky, thanks for posting pictures of the boys.  They look great and you must be proud of them.  Hope Tyler is still on the mend.

Cloudy cool day.  Went for short walk.  Had our birthday dinner out last night for grandson and myself.  Allowed myself a small piece of cake.  First sweet desert I've had in three weeks.  One of my gifts was a DVD of NKP berkshire 765 made up as 2765 to play the part of a C&O engine.  Think video was shot in the early 90's.  Engineer was Rich Melvin.  Lots of cab scenes and run bys.  Good flick.

D.Baker, good weather for running the steamer at Knott's.

Still on the fence about Cal Stewart but will not participate in DCS demo this year.

later,

Ray

Don, Marty from Ma & Pa Junction

It's a sunny 42 this morning. I am a pound heavier this morning, must have been yesterday's pizza and ice cream. The party went well, no pile ups and we had the Mich. game on. I'm not sure about today's plans, I have not got my daily briefing yet..S.J.

EDIT: I forgot. I received a MTH catalog yesterday and didn't find anything new or different. They did recatalog the Ohio Central GP but I would be paying for a remote control board I never intend to use.

Good Morning,

Great picture of the Boys, Tyler looks great!  I'm sure the two boys are close, prayers for both of them, know the situation has been tough.  Hopefully, the worst is behind everyone!

Comments on Chiefs post ---

ChiefEagles

Just got off the phone with my buddy,  Marty "screwed" him and his partner.  Who is Marty?  Not the one I'm thinking of I hope.

They were to have his inventory, leased building and put in new phone system.  For his inventory?

They also added MTH.  Acquisition?

Marty sold off complete inventory with out them knowing.  They shut down.  Now some legal stuff going on.  Can't say anymore. Talk about teasers!

In Marriott in Charlotte [City Center].  Room is high $, pay for parking, pay for internet and everything extra.  Could have stayed at Holiday Inn Express at Concord Mills [right at my Bass Pro Shops] for $100 per night, 30 minute drive, still pay for parking here [only] and had free breakfast.  Room is actually nicer at HIE and would have microwave.  Had to bring frig Your the only one I know that travels with a frig.. [which I bet I have to pay extra] where HIE has one in room.  This is like staying in NY or DC. Bang Head  Oh well, Town is paying for it all.  Of course!

Have never been to the League conference and probably will not go again.

Now for some chow.  Have not eaten since noon.

Finished my additional lighting on the layout for Christmas decorations.  Houses and City has Christmas lights on them.  Next task is to illuminate (Doug) Murphy's Used Car lot with a string of lights (white) which will be up year around.

Off to Knotts for the day, weather a LOT cooler low 70's today with possible drizzle.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cold 36 degrees. Going up to 68 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I did not sleep well last night. I have a few chores to do and then I will finish reading the newest CTT mag. An early lunch and then a nice nap.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good morning. It's 63° with 88% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 85°.

Only set plan for today is to clean up the layout some. If I feel up to it later I'll go mow my parents yard. Other than that there's nothing going on here.

Well, I'm in a better mood today.   THE TRAIN ROOM IS DONE!!  except a few small odds and ends and clean up.  This has been an on and off project for the last two years, and 14 years in the dream process.  the problem now is, I have been buying train stuff for the past 20 years, more heavily here lately, and now I think I have too much stuff in 4 different scales. Arrrhhhhhhhhhhh    I made a valid attempt to sell my LARGE N scale collection , and was using eBay as a pricing tool, and ended up buying MORE Oops - Sign

I'll never get near what I paid for the stuff anyway........

Good evening all,

A cloudy day in SE Indiana with showers and sprinkles off and on.  All good things must come to an end at some point and for "my" soccer boys, it ended today with a 3-0 defeat in the first game of the semistate round.  The boys played hard and well, but some days it is not your day.  I am so proud of them as they made this a season to remember.  TBIL and one last set of barrel rolls is in order as they were champions to the end.  The "saucy wench" and I made a nice day of it as we went to Salem Indiana after the game to see another of their museums.  They have quite a complex there and it gets better every time we go there.  We then did some window shopping at Menards for various items for our house project we will be starting soon.  We had some enjoyable meals along the way and some good desserts as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Cloudy and rainy today.  Worked in the morning, then went 25km to a castle that has been turned into a hotel/resturant for lunch.  Interesting place and great views.

For reference, I was just pulling Jeffrey's chain with the Space Mouse reference.  Sparked an interesting story, though.

I forgot to mention that on the ride out of Barcelonia airport, we were in a cab that Roger Moore had once ridden in.

We are planning on going to Monsarrat tomorrow - an old monestery (still operating) near the top of the local mountain.  Two ways up or down - an aireal cable car or an electric cog railway.

Go TIGERS!

Go SPARTINS!

All for now.

He like so many others have drifted away but surface every once in a great while as I believe I saw a post from space mouse not that long ago and I believe for some reason it was in here CTT. Use to be able to search for memebrs by member name but don't seem I can do that.

Space Mouse was / is  (haven't seen him in a long time) a great contributor to the Model Railroad forum.   If I recall correctly, without going into a bunch of details, he helped Jeffery out some model railroad things. I'll leave it up to Jeff if he wants to elaborate.

Some years ago I had only a very cheap camera, $20 at a drug store I think. It was all I could afford. The best photos from it were small and mediocre at best. Quite a few noticed this and took that as an excuse to post some vile attacks at my expense. Space Mouse went the opposite way and did what he considered to be the right thing. He posted a thread asking any member who had a good (descent but not real expensive) camera they didn't use anymore to consider donating it or selling it at a low price. I got not one but two descent cameras. I also got two that were much older models that performed only somewhat better than the one I had and one required special lighting. The two best ones were a Vivatar 3935 and an Olympus D550, both of which I still have. The D550 was my favorite for use on the layout and the Vivatar was used for outdoors. The Vivatar has since been retired as I now use a refurbished Nikon L20. The Olympus eventually wore out but I liked it so much that I bought anotehr one on Ebay for $22. It has it's quirks but it's works and is my favorite. As for the Space Mouse sig line, it was part of his sig line at one point if I remember correctly. I started carrying it in my signature out of respect for him.

Good morning all,

Jeffrey, sounds like the hot water is gushing and the toilet is flushing.  Oh joy!  Glad you got it all fixed.

Went for morning walk this morning with overcast cool day.  Made it nice for walking.

Waiting to hear more about York and for picture from Laz.

Re sleeping pills.  Don't want to get dependent on them.  When I was in the hospital following surgery 5 years ago, I wanted some to help me sleep but they would not give me any so I just layed there awake all night.  Glad that's over.

Article in paper today about how airlines are squeezing in more seats in the already overcrowded cabins by reducing leg room and even making the seats thinner.  They got all they can get out of the baggage fee so now the bean counters are after something new.  Of course they do offer the option of a more comfortable seat for a fee.  Don't you love it!  Since I don't fly much, I might just use some of my frequent flyer miles to go first class next time.

My grandson and I will celebrate our birthdays with a cake and dinner out somewhere today.  Mine was on Oct. 13th and his was on the 17th.  He is 15 now.

later,

Ray

Good morning. It's 67° with only 45% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 82°.

I was pretty active yesterday so I was quite sore when I went to bed. Couldn't get to sleep until around 2:30am and woke up at 8:45am. It's hurts just to move. Hopefully the stiffness in my joints will work out in an hour or so.

I got problem with the toilet fixed last night. The fill pipe had broken off of the flush valve. Fixed it with a five inch piece of PVC pipe and some JB Weld. I put several beads of the JB Weld around the top two inches of the PVC pipe then pushed it up into the fill pipe, turning it as it went so the glue was well distributed. I left 5/16" of the PVC sticking out. Let it set up for an hour then liberally coated the 5/16" section with the glue and carefully pushed it into the broken off base in the flush valve. Let that harden a couple of hours then installed the ring for the flapper and adjusted it until the flapper had the best seal. Job done. Forty some odd year old toilet still works. Macgiver strikes again!.

PS: for all you "sleepless in Seattle", go to your local pharmancy and buy their brand of Melatonin.  Start with 5 mg tablet.  Natural sleep aid.  My Dr. recommended it and it works.  For all you "wide eyed", if 5mg does not do it, take two.  Then next time, buy the 10mg.

I've always preferred one or two good scotches - does the trick for me!

DJ - That works too. And the dreams come out the same! That's whats in your Avatar bottle, right?
