Good Morning!

Jeffrey - Don't envy you with the plumbing issues, what a chore!  Sounds like you have it under control, good luck!

Boy, it is GREAT that the weather has cooled down, it is really pleasant!  Even possibility of some rain this next week!  Exciting!

Bob, Don't think you need to be concerned about the weather yet, on the mountain.  Everything headed your way should be pleasant.  Good luck with the house sale, you certainly are demonstrating a lot of patience.

Sure is a good thing not to be trying to do any kind of a commute today.  A couple of weeks ago LA was going through a "Carmagedon" due to freeway demolition and construction.  It was planned and everyone aware of it, even scheduled for the week-end.  Today a truck flipped and closed the freeway in South direction, it is going to be closed for "hours".  Traffic is ALL bottled up, wouldn't be surprised to see a gridlock.  (Dennis you better stay home.)

Only got about 3 hours work on the layout yesterday, hopefully much more today.  Wife took in-laws to some casinos for gambling yesterday, so I was managing the phones.  Did get some other chores done as well, haircut, lawns, etc..

Ray, I may have missed it how's the fence project?  I'm sure it is complete, and things getting back to normal?

Know the York breakfast is on, hope everyone there has a great time, and no one gets sick.

Take care!

Don

It's 53 gloomy degrees this morning

I'm sitting here staring at the screen. Nothing going on today for me. Granny is going to the fruit market, I think she can handle that on her own.:).....BLTs this morning, not as good as summer ripe tomatoes but good just the same. Jeffery, did you consider a on-demand water heater? They don't take up much room at all. Huh?

I thought about that but all the ones I've seen are gas and I don't have gas in my home. Also those systems cost nearly $900 here.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  We tied 1-1 last night.  Only second this season we did not lose.  Tourney starts next week.  High school boys play in semistate tomorrow.  First game is at 10 AM.   Supposed to be sunny.  TBIL but someone else will have to drive as we have to be on the road before 8 AM tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning guys and Yorkers.

Damp and cloudy here today, 47 degrees. The bed felt like the place to be. Almost afraid to get up because I don't want to know what will break today.Bang Head

I Stihl have not decided what leaf blower to get, BOB. Smile, Wink & Grin My neighbor next door has one of the big dog backpack ones like Chief and Jon are talking about so I may ask him if I can use it to see how I like it before I spend that kind of money. As luck would have it a few weeks ago I was heavy on liquid $$$$$$ but now since I got the truck I am liquid $$$$$$$ tight. Tongue Tied So if I use his this weekend then I will know what I want to do by Monday when I have to go to Morris to see the gastroenterology Dr. for my pre-colonoscopy apt.. After that I can swing over to The BIG R and pick something out. The have a full line of Stihl there.

Jon, I am still using my 34 year old Jonsered 49SP chainsaw. It is one bad machine and has cut tons of wood over the years. The only things I have done to it are replace clutch housing with a power mate setup and a new bar after I bent the original, I also replaced the fuel lines for the reasons mentioned by Banks.

Chief, glad you like it, you will be sporting a NS look when your cutting everyone's grass in the heat. Laugh

RIJack, your are right about the "Must have" on the leaf blower front, Hope your trip to get the better half is uneventful.

Chuck will be napping all day today to recover from their anniversary night. Wink

"Well, here I is..all awake again...went for a snooze earlier then, just as my head hit pillow...POW!!!...all awake.....Sigh  I hate when that happens too BOC. I will just watch an old movie and let it bore me to sleep. Sleep

Jeffery, did you consider a on-demand water heater? They don't take up much room at all. Huh?

 SJ, Tigers Yes

Where is DougM?????

DJ, Sure am glad Tyler is doing better, still prayers for him,,John's mom,,and Chewy to. Angel

Jeffery when I worked for the propane company in VA. we would just take counter top off and rebuild the underneath it was easier and quicker and we had all the room we needed to take out and put in the water heater lol. those things are a big pain you know where.

Well had breakfast, put propane fireplace in car to take to auction house along with the chair. now onto the floor hope driveway has dried it rained last night and it was kinda foggy this am. TGIF for those working today.

Well I put the call in to the plumbers office. They say they'll have a crew out here today. What time is anyone's guess. Hopefully I'll have hot and cold running water by tonight.

Good morning. It's 44° with 100% humidity so it feels even cooler. It'll be mostly sunny and the high will be 78° (that still remains to be seen).

Got a new water heater yesterday along with the installation kit. The tiny roll of thread tape in the kit didn't look to me to be enough so I got a larger roll to go with it. I measured the old water heater last night. At ten gallons it's just a hair smaller than the new one. The hole might be a tight squeeze. If it doesn't fit it can be installed in the hole where the kitchen drawers were. I'll be putting in the call to the plumbers office in just a little while to have them send a team out today.

I don't expect to get any work done on the layout for obvious reasons. If I feel up to it later I may go down and mow my parents yard.

Hello all

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!1

Busy here. I see I missed an anniversary or two and maybe a birthday. Belated wishes for all

Hope all the Yorkie's are having fun. Wish I was there.

Kev. when you get a new leaf blower consider buying the additive that minimizes the alcohol's effects on the engine. It is really hard on the rubber parts in the carb. My son has been mixing his leftover race gas with pump gas for the last several years. The weed eater's he uses to trim the cemetery he mows last way longer. Before he started doing that they would last only a year and would be dead.

best get busy

Prayers for those in need

Hello all

Hoping to enjoy at least 7 hours of dust free sleep tonight so I'll make this quick.

SJ - my mom must be stoked about the Tigers. Hasn't lived there in over 50 years, but still a big fan.

Chief - I think the gun dealer that John gets these scopes from used to work for Weaver. These were either returned items or factory defects. Gave him several boxes to play with. I think John likes the challenge. So far he has redone the Canada balsam between two lenses and restrung cross hairsSurprise. He also makes fine furniture, facets gems, makes wood grips and stocks, and built his own house. Oh, and when he is not doing any of that he runs a telescope. Suffice it to say, he got the patience and the talent.

Jeffrey - looks almost like the same water heater we installed in my old motorhome. The original propane flash heater leaked when I got it. Since it was made by Junkers (they also made things that dropped stuff on England during WWII as well), parts were a bit hard to come by. We did the same thing. Measure the space and take the tape measure to the builders supply to find what fit. Hope you get it installed soon. If not, lemme know and I'll jump on the Sunset Limited w/ a tool boxWink

Kev - are you stihl trying to figure out which leaf blower to buy?Stick out tongue

Off to find a pillow

Good night all.

Kev, Stihl is the way to go.  Here, if you buy synthetic 2 cycle from Stihl, they add two years warranty.  Great deal.  I had a nice new "medium sized" backpack Stihl.  As you remember, someone else wanted it more than I did. Bang Head  Next one was next to the "largest".  Real happy with it.  Thanks for the package.  Wifey had a Mary Kaye thing here last evening.  Did not get the package until tonight.  She had "put it up".  Great surprise.  Thanks.

Bob, interesting that someone "rebuilds" scopes.

My Yankees lost.  Crying

Wifey and I are off early tomorrow AM for dermatologist.  She then has dentist apt.

Prayers for Tyler and Chewy.

Yorkers [sounds like porkers Laugh], have a great time.  Hope weather holds for a fair time.

Sleep tight.

PS - Happy belated anniversary to Doug D G!

PPS - RIJack, you and me both on that price!  I think that $1K is very reasonable for what he is going to do.  the one knee is much worse than the other, so maybe that is why?  Or maybe he was getting a vibe from me....  I really expected we would be putting her down.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good news on Tyler - so happy he is doing so well, Spanky!  Prayers still coming for him.

AF/Ray - you there with John?  Hope all have a great trip!  I just figured out that my TCA card in my wallet expired last June?  I think I better find my new card before April or else call and have them send a new one.  I'm still getting the magazines and we are sure we renewed it?

Had doc appt after work - BP was better than last time at 120/82, but weight is stable - was hoping I lost a few pounds.  Oh well, she didn't yell at me, so that' s good.  Also, Chewy had a beauty appointment and she is all spiffy.  I gave her a little peanut butter as a treat Smile

Don't know why I'm still up, I am bone tired.  Need to stop and get a new shop vac as the old one is not working very well, the motor is losing power.  Reminds me of the old SNL sketch where the two brothers had the giant vacuum they brought from the old country - they had to hold the hose up in the air and shake the stuff down into the cannister, lol!

TARDIS is ready and we have some nice low-sodium treats, so let's get going!  We'll buzz over to Chuck's to celebrate his Anniversary!  Big congrats man!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Kev --

I've got two leaf blowers, one smaller unit for when we lived in town, it's 24 years old and still runs like a champ.  The other leaf blower is a big boy back pack that will move mountains of leaves, which is what we do every fall for several days.  They are both Stihl where you mix the oil with the gas, not sure if you can even buy those any more.  All 3 of my chain saws are Stihl and they have never failed me (knocking on wood) and have seen heavy usage.  Before I bought the Stihl saws I wore out a Poulan I really liked but then they cheapened those up so they could sell them at the big box stores.

All of the above units are like the Energizer Bunny they just keep running and running, the only maintenance to the saws has been keeping the chain sharp.

It's 66° here with 47% humidity. Feels wetter than that. Looking like the low will be 48°.

Plumbing front: Yet another night with no running water. Plumber came out and looked at the pipe and said that's not the problem. The problem is the hot water tank itself. So there's nothing Mr X could do about it anyway so he's still got a roof over his head. May father and I went to Lowe's and got a new water heater which is in my van at this time. Twelve gallon capacity, 120v, side connect. It looks like it should fit in the hole. If it won't there's a nice big open spot where the kitchen drawers used to be as you'll see in the photos below. So plenty of room. I was planning on putting shelves in there to replace the drawers but if the tank has to go there I can keep my rice and pasta meals in a box on top of the fridge. I already have my primary utensils hanging on cup hooks below the upper cabinets. Safety can opener, pizza cutter and several tea strainers. I use the strainers to filter the lumps out of my latex paint. By this time tomorrow I hope to have hot and cold running water again.

The Tigers are going to play in the World Series. It will be their 11 time according to the TV announcer.

There will be chocolate syrup and peanuts for tonight's banilla on the thingy. We had an uneventful day, just kinda laz'ed around. A church lady stopped by for some green tomatoes, we have plenty. Most will ripen indoors but won't taste as good..TTFN...S.J.

Hello all

Went to see the primary doc and then the podiatrist. Foot is doing much better, but I still got stabbed in the foot w/ the cortisone again. Doc wants to be sure we chase it away, which is good because I don't want to have to do surgery.

Stopped by to see an old friend and then got home to find that the landlords had rescheduled the showing at the last minute. Oh, and not a peep out of them about my comments yesterday. Nada. Just business as usual. They seem to have some control issues, but regardless I plan on maintaining some boundaries w/ them as long as I am living here.

Kev - was diet Coke, honest. I try not to touch the other stuff  Beer any more. Regarding the mower, sounds like a fun project. You know I like air cooled enginesStick out tongue I could help you covert it to a 110 HP flat six? I think a Stihl would be a good choice. I used to work in a lumberyard making cut packs w/ chain saws. My coworker who was the best I've seen w/ a saw loved his Stihls. From an Alaskan who lived by chain saws that meant a lot.

Jeffrey - thanks to your dad for hiring the plumber. Didn't sound like a fun job for you. The grain elevator is looking good!Yes

Chief - if you need any scopes lemme know. My coworker repairs them and has a whole pile of Weaver's from a guy in New Mexico that he is working through. Some of them are these neat TV tube style eyepiece. Almost put one on the 10/22 just for fun, they are so cool.

Didn't get up in time to put on the new lock knobs. Wanted to get in as much sleep as I could after finishing up cleaning the dust bomb @ 3AM. Will try and get them installed before I go to a meeting tonight.

Good evening,

Ready to head over to York tomorrow.  Nice that I have only a 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic.  First stop is the Round the Clock Diner for breakfast with the Forum gang.  Won't be buying a lot as don't need anything and not much room to put it.  Like to look and chat with friends.  We have had some real nice fall weather lately, hope it holds for York.

Cloudy and muggy here today.

Thanks for the update on the Tigers.  They don't make the local newspapers.  Interestingly enough the presidential debated do.  I've had several people I am working with ask about them too.  It is interesting to get view points on our politics from people in other countries.

There was an article in the paper headed by a picture of a set of dual gage railroad tracks.  As I picked my way through it, it seemed to be something about standardization fo the transport industry.  My wife will be practicing her Spanish tomorrow by translating some of the newspaper.  Maybe she will do something on that article.

We ordered fried fish for dinner tonight (in Spanish no less!).  What we got was a big pile O little fishes about pinkie finger size, lightly breaded and fried - head to tail, fins and all - kind of like anchovies, but fresh not pickled.  We took a picture, but I cannot post it for some reason.  The little suckers were not bad, either.  Had we asked about them and heard a description, we probably would not have ordered them.  Travel always provides learning experiences.

All for now.

MR. Murphy, PLEASE!!! Dots - Sign

 Yesterday it was the mower.

Today I was using the leaf blower and it started to shake and run poor. So I took it into the shop pulled off alll of the covers and found out that the cylinder jug was loose. Cool, I tightened it up, cleaned up alll of the oil on it and fired it back up. It shook and jurked and then took off and was running the best ever and then Bang........IT LOCKED UP. Surprise Sad You know what they say, They always run best just before they blow up . Tongue Tied  Bang Head   Bang Head   Bang Head

Good Evening All!

Waiting for my chariot to arrive and heading to York! HudsonJohn let's go.

Been real disappointed with the Yankees. But when it all comes down to it, this whole year they haven't been hitting with men on base. So I shouldn't be too surprised.

SJ- Enjoy the ride while it's there. Your Tigers have some nice pitching and hitting.

Laz - See you in the A.M. I'll have a cheese omelet and some coffee.

Roy & John F - Looking forward to meeting you.
