Ohayƍ,

I’m just taking a brief moment to post from the office.  It is warm and extremely humid today.  I planned to run 10 miles this morning but only went for 8 after I felt how humid it was; it sucked the life out of me.  From now on I need to wake up earlier and run before it gets too bad.  They Yankees traded for Ichiro; I’m not sure how I feel about it since he is on the downside of his career and not putting up good numbers this year.  I have a full agenda at work today so I should get back to it.

Thanks for well wishes about the Princess’s birthday.  She had a great day.  One of her gifts was a Nintendo DSi XL; I wanted to get her the latest 3D version but she said she didn’t want that one.  Oh well.

Jack – She already has a pink Yankee Princess baseball cap.  My kids know exactly what to do with any Sox apparel – destroy it.  My son opened up a package of baseball cards and all the Sox players were immediately ripped up and thrown in to the trash.  Laugh

Fife – The Coast Guard has a very intensive boot camp; however, they have assignments at some cool and unique locations.

Kev – I don’t call it “cheap.”  I prefer to say “economically efficient.” Wink

AF Ray – I hope Ichiro can play like he used to for the remainder of the year.  Maybe being surrounded by so many other great players will lift him up.  I haven’t watched any Japanese news telecasts today, but I would think they like it.  I see many Japanese folks wearing Yankees apparel; I’m sure Matsui’s presence on the team persuaded that.

Sayonara,

Joe

I watched the news tonight, I was right from day 1 and I knew it..Banilla will be waiting in the freezer...S.J....Oh heck I'll toss in some root beer too.Just cause the Tigers are in 1st place, for now.

Okay all you losing weight sounds great to me. I actually started a diet back on the 13th of April I had lost 15 lbs befor I got shingles and then a flu like hit me and I drifted off my diet as not feeling well. ( I know excuses excuses) well I didn't gain any back and maintained where I was but heres the other news to this story back on the 10th of April my doctor told me ( which this is how its been for the last 3 years but I have a new doctor now) was that my A1C was 7.5 it should be 7.0 or below well the 18th of July basically 3 months later my A1C was down to 6.9 which is where it should be for me. I have reach that goal now to maintain it. the next goal ( along with getting back on my diet ( which I restarted today) is to lower my cholesterol. I need to lose another 85 LBS i was about 100 lbs over weight time will tell how it goes. Its a slow process but a very well achievable.

Brutus Angel for your mother

SP sorry for the lost of your friend.

Jim I'm interested in hearing about windows 8 myself if Brent is let me know whats up with it.

Not much else going on really tonight now tomorrow is a busy busy day lol I need to go sign the refinancing of the house. I need to go pick up the flooring for the den. I need to go pay the taxes on the truck and get my stickers for the next year. I know theres something else but can't think of it at the moment.

Thanks again all for the comments on my tip for the CTT mag. I finally got my check today and still need to go get a copy of it.

It was a surprise to me as I figured it wasn't accepted as it was well over 6 months ago I sent it in.

Well time to go get some of the chiefs popcorn :)

Talk to you all later

Ray,

Sorry to hear about Ed. Angel

Brutus,

                  Angel for your Mom.

Jack,

I am glad those mufflers sold.  The pulsating drone they made would give me a headache.  The guy that bought them sent me a text saying that he is happy with them though. Thumbs Up  Ford's stock mufflers were horrible.  Way too quiet.  I am running Ford Racing's FR500S mufflers at the moment, which are louder, but might be coming off for a set of Flowmaster Outlaws when the $$ permits.

Found another control box for the 314AW.  I've been watching it on ebay for the past six days, and it ended just before 1PM today.  Had to work, so I spent my break on ebay mobile.Laugh  Some things are more important than DinnerWhistling

Anybody heard from Brent?  Might email him to see if he is playing with the pre release version of Windows 8.

sir james I

RI Jack, the summer has been so dry the skeeters are few to none..S.J.

SJ.......the recent rains have brought the mosquitoes out of the wood work like a plague and going outside from dusk until dawn is impossible without using OFF.  Southeastern MA has over a dozen communities that are now doing airial spraying and the list is growing.  Worried about  EEE Eastern Equine Encephalitis and West Nile virus to name two mosquito-borne diseases.   No human cases reported yet but they trap and test mosquitoes, then decide where to spray.

The environmentalists are unhappy, worried about the effects of spraying on wildlife.  Meanwhile, all organized outdoor activities (little league, soccer, etc.) have been curtailed and/or moved to earlier in the evenings where possible to be safe.

Well I feel better than I did this morning. Head still feels a little strange and the vision is still fuzzy but there's no more dizziness. Still can't read without the glasses. Usually I can read the forum postings without them. Nothing much happening here. There are clouds moving through but no sign of rain.

Here is where it gets good.  Indifferent Wife went in for her 6 month cleaning at the dentist 2 months ago and the girl doing the cleaning stopped in the middle and called in the dentist and was telling the wife her numbers on her gums were like 6 & 7 whatever that means.  Surprise  So they set her up with this periodontist for a deep cleaning for today. Good news is when we got there the guy asked why she came in because her highest number was only 3 and there were no problems with her gums. Thumbs Up

KEV........think they are measuring bone loss they want to stop for each tooth.  The higher numbers are no good?  I had a couple of the bad ones but the regular cleaning, a deep cleaning now and then, and regular flossing took care of the bone loss.  Stemmed that, no change in the measurements for the past 15 years or so.  Yet they keep talking to me every time I go in about having gum reduction surgery.  "I'll take it under advisement." Whistling

Bad news is it cost $109.00 and a round trip to Peru to find that out. Angry

Yes, but you had a nice road trip alone with the wifey where no shopping was involved. Thumbs Up Smile, Wink & Grin  You actually "saved" money.

For you guys loosing weight, you are getting to me now. I am 5’10" and 186lb. I could stand to trim off 20lb or so. Guess I will start by changing to lite beer. Smile Beer

At 5'8 I'm down to 170 from about 190 after the holidays.  But light beer?  No way.  Yuk.

MikeC, I am always reluctant to loose any tree even here with 7 acres of them. We have been loosing Ash trees for over 7 years now because of the emerald Ash borer. We have few left .. Sad

Me MikeC ?  I would prune back (or hire it done with guys in buckets) to save them if at all possible.

Laz, Take it easy on yourself. Nothing heavier than 12oz at a time. Laugh

And no Lite OL MILS beer or you will wither away to nothing. Laugh

Later.

Hey, Guys, quick fly by, have to run for more parts....Had to use the computer for more discounts on my parts...front brake hoses are shot, so replacements are required.  Rears are done.  Just have to struggle with the fronts.

Angel - for Ed

Angel - for Brutus' Mom

Happy B-Day - Joey D's Princess

Just gotta tell ya....5'11" 177lbs.....just sayin' boys.....Smile, Wink & Grin

Got the call Saturday, my Princess is staying South.  I surmise her Mom pressured her to stay feigning physical illness.  Not happy but was a little prepared.  She promises that she will attend college there and has 2 jobs on tap.  She wants her AA to move on to a better college next year.  She wanted to fly me to FLA to visit, but I nixed it.  Told her that school and work were her priorities.  I'll try to get there in October.  She called me later that night and we had a good talk.

Divorce papers have been completed, just need to fill out the fee waiver for the state and serve the soon to be ex.  This ain't gonna be easy, but it has to get done.

Off the the parts palace!!

I had to take my shed stereo apart today because the on-off button fell down inside it and I am a cheap skate so I had to try to fix it before I would replace it. Found the switch and glued it back in and all is good. Wink

Good Afternoon Ya'll From Party Central Taxachusetts,

I'm way behind on POT posts, yet again.  Chatty bunch here!!  Busy too.

Brutus........good thoughts and Angel for your Mom's surgery today.  I hope all goes well and that she is not laid up too long afterwards.  Just curious......how do you vent that shower in the basement?  And do you need a pump to move the water out of the lowest level of your house?

BOC.......you got me laughing out loud about your now oversized pants and the use of suspenders comment, will make you look like Urkel from Family Matters. Smile, Wink & Grin  Prayers continue, buddy. Angel  By the way, the previous Red Sox world championship drought was a mere 76 years ago at the end of WWI!!!!. Bang Head  The only way they will make it to the playoffs this year is if the Bubonic plague strikes about 5 teams ahead of them for the AL Wild Card. Bang Head

Darren......let me join with the others here with my prayers over the horrendous events out in your neck of the woods.  No words could begin to comfort the victims, the families, and the friends of those affected.  It makes each of us take stock of the pure evil that surrounds us without our knowing who or where or when.  The police showed a lot of restraint, something I personally could never muster in those circumstances.  And I am not ashamed to admit it.  One thing I could never do is what I saw some of the affected say when interviewed: forgiveness.  There will never be justice on this one.

Jeffrey........I continue to worry about you.  Angel

AF Ray.......I came in from the rain, soaked and  overheated, after hauling a bunch of tables and chairs back down into the basement from the party.  Then I read your words of "encouragement" about the Red Sox and the upcoming series with the Yankees.  Then JoeyD jumps in with more of the same.  You guys are c-r-u-e-l!!!!  Big Smile  At least BOC and DougM are appreciative and supportive of guys with teams that have had losers of epic proportions in baseball. Laugh

LAZ........I used to be a duffer like you.  Then about a quarter of a century ago I eagled the final hole of a course and hung up the clubs for good.  Laugh  Re your injury, hope that heals up and doesn't interfere with your rietirement activities, fishing and lifting Ol MILS.  Laugh

MikeC........re the soccer girl's broken collar bone, unfortunate as the injury is, you have to admit she will have some great stories to tell later in life about how her sister cheap-shotted her. Laugh

KEV........meteorologists here said recent rains may make part of the Illinois corn crop salvageable.  I don't believe them.

SJ.........your wifey must have been pleased with the surprise 70th birthday party the two of you attended so she could catch up with sister and the family.  Re your porch sitting these warm Summer evenings, how do you and your better half contend with the mosquitoes? Bang Head  My wife and I bathe in Deep Woods Off. Smile, Wink & Grin

JimmyT........was glad to read a couple of weeks back you were able to sell the new mufflers that didn't fill the bill.  Nothing ventured nothing gained.  The next guy who installs them may find out what you did.......an inspection roadblock.  The stock set-up sounds sweet anyway.  No matter.

Chief........the 8 pound weight loss does not count if you used diuretics and laxatives and had to strip naked to get there. LaughSmile, Wink & Grin

V8 Dennis.......sorry to hear about the credit card fraud thing.  More normal than we may think until we start talking to others, only to find they had their cards hacked too. Bang Head  Look at the bright side of things......you are not liable for it.  My wife and I each have had one incident of it during the past six months, not fun but nothing to get too worried about.  At least Chase caught it even before you would have and took action, even if it was on a card you had previously asked be terminated. Thumbs Up  Re the Cavalier Z24, you and the rest of us who drive older vehicles are still way out in front of the crowd that buys and trades every 3-4 years. Thumbs Up  Hope your mechanic got you squared away and through CA. inspection.

There is a huge uproar going on in our State with a voter referendum looming: the referendum seeks to force legislators to pass a bill over "Right To Repair."  Seems the original equipment automobile manufacturers do not share nearly enough specific repair info, technical service bulletin fixes, and the like with our 32,000 private mechanics, forcing folks like you and me in many instances to bypass our private mechanics and go to the dealers for far too many repairs at the inflated OEM dealership prices (dealer parts and labor prices). Bang Head

JoeyD.......happy belated birthday to your 11 year old Princess. Happy B-Day  If you think she would like a Boston Red Sox baseball cap, just let me know and I will send her one.  They do seel them in pink. Whistling

DougM.......nice shot of the Cedar Point & Lake Erie RR station.  In a couple of weeks won't you and Kelly be 2/3 empty nesters for the Fall and Spring semesters?  You should have connived the kiddies to go to DePaul so that they could stay home with you. Laugh

Brent........don't you love us anymore? Smile, Wink & Grin  As a rookie, you seem need lessons from us in time management.  One child cannot possibly take up all of your spare time.  We can also help you out with "Honey Do List Management: the art of procrastination."  Stick out tongue  We'll give you our discounted rate. Wink

DougDG........I get tired just reading all that you do.  You are one busy guy.....infected with Chief-itis. Laugh

Dennis.......any more nails to hammer down?  Angel  Nirvanna is upon you, I hope. Thumbs Up

Later, gang.  Back to the salt mines.  Now I know what it was like trying to clean up after Woodstock 43 years ago. Bang Head Laugh

Jack

Popcorn, yes, no french fries or any potatoes, no sweets [now drink unsweeten tea] and no carbs except the bread for tomato sandwiches.  Mainly meets and cheese.  Also, only two smaller meals per day.

Just got the word from my sister.  Mom's surgery is done.  They had to take out a baseball size tumor, but no vocal cord or nerve involvement.  Parathyroids had to be moved but were replaced.  She'll be on calcium supplements and they'll have to monitor that for a while as well as thyroid hormone replacement.  The tumor was sent for biopsy to determine the specific iodine treatment she will get as chemo.  She is doing fine, though!  Thanks for prayers!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Warming and Overcast Taxachusetts,

The prospect of the lower temperatures relative to what I have been having and the much-needed rain is encouraging.

The weather for the granddaughter's joint birthday party was glorious......mid to high 70s and sun.  We set up 3  10'X10" pop up canopy tents with tables and chairs so that the "elderly" over 70 crowd had their own reserved space and that everyone could, sooner or later, sit down and eat/relax out of the sun.

We set up a swing and a slide set plus two slip-and-slides for the kiddies.  Had 2 of these held in reserve because they don't make them like they used to......they start leaking at the seams and become useless. The water fun kept the kiddies occupied most of the day except for food and potty stops.  Had one parent guard the door from the deck into the house to make sure the kids were not running in and out of the house dripping wet.

Daughter and son-in-law booked a magician who completely mesmerized the kiddies and adults alike, quite the funny and entertaining fellow who kept folks 4-80 alternatively laughing and stunned.  Used a lot of the kiddies in his act  Then he had a protracted session of making balloon animals for the kiddies followed by some karaoke.

Wifey threw in an obedience demo with Maximus for additional entertainment, then for a while hung out with him on the deck while the party continued all around.  That continues Maximus string of meet-and-greets alive have been doung them for the past 2.5 years and over 500 kids.  Got the kids taking turns petting him while they got a lecture on dogs and dog safety.  We understand that some parents might have been uncomfortable with a Doberman in their midst or with their children.  But that usually fades as they see what is going on, how things are controlled, in capable hands, and the dog's friendly demeanor.  "I thought Dobermans were vicious."   I hope they gained a small bit of understanding of two things.  Not every breed is right for your family, your lifestyle, and your skills.  Second......genetics, breeding, formative development, training, responsible dog ownership, and not putting your dog in an unwinnable position (unrelenting cookout chaos) make a huge difference in the end product.  Maximus spent most of his day snoozing up in the comfort and safety of our bedroom with the A/C and the TV on to protect him from the noise and the frenzy.

DinnerOn the menu......chicken breasts, bacon cheeseburgers, hot dogs (with chili), steak tips, pork tips, chili, and a zillion salads complimented by bakery rolls (versus grocery-store bought).  Cakes and pastries out the ying yang.  The.grill was going non-stop for two 2-hour sessions.

As in the past, a friend of ours volunteered to do ALL of the grilling.  I like his demeanor, like a chef with an attitude:  "You will get it when I am done cooking it and not a moment sooner, so get lost.  And tell your kids this isn't a restaurant!"  Slow and steady, so the food off the grill comes out a moist and juicy perfection, down to the last hot dog.  Even the toasted buns! Thumbs Up  I again had him protected from the sun with a large table-sized, umbrella, chair, and prep tables, serving platters, and kept him supplied with cold beverages while his wife brought him plates of food.  The guys have a tendency to hang out by the grill and yak anyway.  Maybe it is because it is close to the beer source. Stick out tongue

Over the years this friend and his wife have been such a huge help with these affairs, getting there early to help set up and working hard during these events.  The same goes for a few other folks who showed up 3 hours early to help with set-up, cleaning (tables and chairs), food preparation, cooler stocking, and the million of details.  Went through 150 pounds of ice!!!!  Many hands make light work.  My wife and I could never pull off hosting affairs this large without the extreme amount of help from others, help that is offered without asking.

Perhaps I have answered my own question from yesterday:  why do folks stay so long into the evening (2PM till 11PM)?  Good times, great food and drink, and everything comes off smoothly.  And at someone elses' house!!!! Smile, Wink & Grin  Yesterday we had an encore for 11 with the son doing the grilling......definitely not ready to be called up from the minors, but he gets the jog done. Laugh

RaySP........you would have a coronary if you saw what my grill looks like now!!!!  Will probably take me 20-30 minutes to get it back to looking like it did before the party. Laugh

Later, gang.

Good morning all,

It is hot again in SE Indiana.  Quiet day at work.  Tree trimmers are salvaging what they can out of some old trees that probably should come down.  They still provide a lot of shade so we are reluctant to lose them.  Time will tell.  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha. A beautiful hot day, even though the White Sox have fallen out of first place in the AL Central. Ray, I am enjoying the jousting with the Tribe and Tigers. Listened to last nights game all the way to drop off the boy at his college orientation. I'll see him in a week. Hope Laz went running for me this morning. Chief, hope Mirra the cat is OK after the storm. Ray, I also send my condolences.  Brutus, prays for your mom's surgery. Demay, happy birthday to your princess. DougNotaGrump, great timing on your post!  Here's my favorite experience at Cedar Point this past weekend.

Good morning. It's 75 with 98% humidity. The high will be 92 but will feel like 104.

I'm somewhat lightheaded and dizzy this morning. My vision is a bit fuzzy as well so no detail type work today. Blood sugar level was 105 before taking meds this morning. BP is 106/66 (normal). At least I don't have a headache. Right now I'm just watching my three GP9 Frankenlocos pulling a string of seventeen cars around the layout. Today may be a good sleeping day.

RaySP......I have been off the air and just read about the passing of your close friend, Ed.  You and Ed's family have my condolences and prayers for some small sense of relief for Ed and the knowledge he is in a far better place, waiting for his family and friends to join him.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cloudy 75 degrees. It is going up to 90 today with thundershowers.

Today is a busy day. I have a few phone calls to make and the usual chores to do. Then, a project to work on. Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours in the train room. Running trains and working on the layout.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.
