Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool and sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 88 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores to do. Wife is grocery shopping. Maybe a nap after lunch. I need to do some work on the layout.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Prayers for BoC and Jeff's Mom.  Also for my brother-in-law Mark "HeMAN" Tarwater who is racing from KC to Saint Charles MO in a Kayak as we speak.  He has nearly made the 100 miles required for the first day, which will leave him about 240 miles to to.  He has until 2AM to get to his prepared campsite and only about a dozen miles, so he should make it easily.    We're supposed to close on the refi tomorrow and the bank and notary people here locally in Arnold have contacted us, so I guess it will really happen.  This is our last deal with BoA.  We'll find another bank or credit union before we do any new business with these guys after this.

Nice chat with SJ tonight.  No world solved, but we had some pretzels and talked about this and that.  Farewell to the 99 cent Coneys - until next year, Jim!

RT - you are right, but I did have a really good set of drills from craftsman this last time - they have lasted about 6 years.  The batteries are going fast now, so bought a new drill last month.

TARDIS is ready and you are more than welcome to drive, Mike - let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

sir james I

Jeffrey glad your mom is feeling better and good night.

Thanks. Good night to you too.

Time for me to call it a day. Almost felt hot enough to melt rocks together today. High 99 with a heat index over 111. Tomorrow is bill paying day so I probably won't have much chance to get anything done. Today I stripped an E7 drive so it's just the frame, motor/flywheels, shafts and trucks. I may be sending it to someone to use as a parts source. See y'all tomorrow.

Ohayƍ,

The weather is the same here today so I won’t even elaborate.  The youngest was awake early this morning so he went with me for a short three-mile run; of course, he is in the jogging stroller enjoying a waffle and chocolate milk while I am sweating out fluid like a burst dam.  Last night, the wife made a chicken dish for dinner that was fantastic.  She came up with it on her own and I hope she makes it again.  She also made homemade creamed corn; I could eat it every day.  We had a nice family walk after dinner as well.  I don’t have anything too pressing at work today, but I will definitely remain inside as much as possible.  It’s August 1st here, but since you guys are behind the times, this is my last post for July.

Jeffrey – I’m glad your mom is doing better.

Jack and AF Ray – No lead can be big enough.  The Yanks are in a bit of a slump right now and I am not pleased.

Sayonara,

Joe

Back to work today.  We made a run to Michigan over the weekend for my wife's family reunion.  Stopped by and visited mom and our oldest son and his wife along the way.

We sure enjoyed the nice weather in Michigan while we were there - highs in the 70's and 80's. Much nicer than the 106 the radio reported on my way home tonight.

I picked up my Texas Pacific stock car at lunchtime today.  The LHS called mid afternoon to say that the rest of the halloween items we ordered a while back.  Guess where I'm stopping on lunch hour tomorrow?

Got to start shopping for a 6017 caboose to use as a basis for a haunted caboose idea that popped into my head today.

Somebody has been posting pictures of the steam train at Ceader Point.  I've ridden it many times.  Always enjoyed it.  Been quite a number of years since I've been there.  Glad to know that it is still in operation.

Prayers for healing and losses.

All for now.

Good afternoon and end of the month all,

Jeffrey, glad to hear your Mom is doing a little better. Angel

Chief, sounds like your layout is running good.  I'd like to borrow you for about a week to fix mine.  Too hot right now in garage though.  Have to wait until fall.

Looks like the block wall is all up now except for the cap stones.  The backyard really needs landscaping now.  It's just a pool surrounded by bare walls.  Looks like a prison yard with a pool.  At least I have some privacy now.

Went to dentist today for first round of getting a new crown on the tooth I just had the root canal on.  Was in the chair for about two hours. They had to take impressions of upper and lower mouth with partial dentures in place.  Had a hard time getting the lower one out.  I thought he was trying to pull all my teeth at one time.  Ouch!  Had to leave my lower partial for one day with the lab.  Will get it back tomorrow.  Meantime I'm partially toothless on the bottom.  Can't do much heavy duty eating today.  Go back for adjustment of partial tomorrow and permanent crown in about two weeks.

Got call from my Son in Florida last night.  They are doing fine and are going to the Space Center tomorrow I think.  NASA will only let one parent accompany the grandson for their program so his mother will go and Dad will be a tourist for a while during the day.  He said he would take one of the Space Center tours to start with.

Found a neat site on the web featuring an article about my departed friend's circus days.  You can find it by going to google and type in Ed Harrigan, The Flying Wallenda, written by his grand niece.  It's about his days with the Wallendas.  His memorial service will be this coming Saturday.

later,

Ray

Chief, Probe I think it depends on the luck of the draw with craftsman. Personally I won't own another cordless by them I've had 19.2 and bought replacement batteries for it twice in 3 years ( yes chief the Lithium) worked great for about 3 months then it wouldn't hold a charge for 15 minutes. I use to have to charging while I used one ( threw first 2 batteries away) I now have porter Cable thru Lowe's and can't complain one bit about them. I also buy tools from Harbor freight and I'm very happy with them. Just bought a sliding 10" miter saw for $90 basically from them to help to the cuts for the laminate flooring I also bought a table saw from HD as plans for using both in the future seems endless as need to replace wood on the outside of the house ( trim ) and end of roof overhang as this house was a flip and he used the cheapest material and help in my point of view. ( found out after buying it was a flip) but still as a whole a good house just needs some repairs done correctly. Also plan to build a work bench along the wall in the den/train room so all this will fit on or under ( miter and drill press on top table saw will be stored underneath and pulled out as needed.

Nothing train wise today except did buy the classic conventional NYC freight set with twin F3's one power one dummy power has dual motors so should be a good puller and probably will convert it to tmcc eventually and rail sounds

It should be here by saturday I believe. ( by the way if you don't hear from me after saturday you know what happened lol

Oh chief don't forget to do new one tonight I'll be asleep by then lol.

Jack Holmes on homes would have a field day on this house I bet lol.

Probe, I will tell you what surprised me.  My kids gave me the bigger model [two sizes] Craftsman battery impact wrench.  The one with the big 19.2 V lithium ion battery.  A workhorse.  Runs a long time on one charge too.  We tighten bolts and ran in, tight, lag bolts on a dock section at the lake.  For a "portable", unbelievable.

JimT

Ah, some fun memories of working w/ spring compressors. They are a tool that needs to be used with caution.

I'm sure the guys here who have worked on heavy equipment can chime in about working w/ maxi brakes as well.

Jim - I now do most of my tool shopping at local used place. Often I can find better quality used tools for the same price or less. Plus the place is just a whole lot of fun to hang out in.

Jack,

Laugh  Every time that I start to miss it, I just think about all the rust.  The tops of both rear strut towers looked like they could break through at any time, and the seam on the gas tank was flaking apart.Indifferent  That changes my mind.

Started swapping the springs on the Mustang last night after spending the day buying tools.  Have one strut done and ready to go back in, but I'll have to get more tools thanks to wonderful Craftsman quality.SoapBox  Had one of the lower bolts that didn't want to break loose and claimed two sockets, one extension, and one 1/2"-3/8" adapter.

I fired up the compressor and tried the Craftsman impact gun.  No good.Angry  Accidentally set the light that I was using on the hose, and that hose needs replaced as well.  Finally got the bolt loose with a 3/4" torque wrench from Harbor Freight and some anger.Thumbs Up  Thankfully the spring compressor hasn't failed yet.

Jack.

You've been trying hard.   WhistlingLaugh  I'll give you some of mine if you want them.  Our former friend from MA use to try to catch me.  He'd answer his own post.  Post on threads with just acknowledgments. Sigh  Doesn't mean a hill of beans.  Just got started before most of you.

Long trains running on remote over the layout.  What a relief.  Now wiring in some toggle switches to turn off track in switching yard and on sidings.

Hello all

Back at work again for a few days. Just a quick check in while I have a sip of coffee. Doubt I'll ever get caught up on the July pot.

Fairly hectic schedule as of late, but it is what it is.

Reading the latest issue of CTT during meal breaks.

Thoughts and prayers for those in need.

Aloha. Well, I cancelled our trip north. Youngest was still running a fever last night and we were going nowhere close to civilization. He was disappointed but I figured I'd do a few things with him during the next few days. He got to use his sleeping bag last night. I'll take him to a matinee and maybe mini-golf.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Good day at work.  Got the one task I really needed to get done for the week done today.  Have some "catch up" work for tomorrow.  The fun starts tomorrow night with one game, and gets better as the week goes on.  Hopefully everything will come together ok.  TBIL and I can drive tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning. It's 83° and already feels like 90°. The humidity is at 77%. The high will be 98° and the heat index will be around 110°.

Nothing much to report today. I have laundry washing. I may do some layout work later depending on how I feel then. Don't feel good right now.
