Actually Jack, you are right on.  That is why SHE paid for the Box itself.  No joke.  She paid her middle Sister [who owned it] for it.  Very cheap for what I got.     The extras were worth more than what she paid for the Box.  So, let her have her room.  Also she gets the walkin attic closet [over kitchen] so I will not store her hoilday decorations tubs under my layout [like in the past]. Yes

Hey Chief, Can you post one of those outdoor pictures of the box??? I think My wife wants to get me one. She wants to see yours Yes

Evening all.  Some more rain.  Yes  Kev, nothing.  Got something coming my way.

Well, reached another "mile stone".  Fred and I pulled all the wires for both outer and inner mainlines.  They are tied up under benchwork and on terminal blocks.  Tested all the track and "switch overs".  Runs great over all bridges.  Then we built the 15" by 40" "launch tracks" benchwork into the old closet door to the back of the shop area.  Used a wye switch and two 30 inch track sections with bumpers.  I now have two tracks to launch engines from. Now I can take engines off of the shelves, put them on the "launch track", power them up and send them out on the outer mainline.

Here we are with the cleaned tracks.

Looking from the future mountain and the coaling area.

Now from the other end.

The main entrance bridges.

Bridge from inner mainline to switching yard.  [will mount a switch tower to the bare area and a vehicle or two.
Inter modal yard.
Left is inner mainline.  Right is grain elevator siding.  Far right is outer mainline with passing siding.
Left is the bridge for inner mainline swinging back to meet the outer mainline coming from mountain [to be built in the left back corner.  Middle is the coal area.  Right is the bridge for both mainlines to cross opening to shop area.  Close up is the two engine service tracks coming out of the switching yard.
Now the mysterious fellow.  Friend Fred.
Now the real mystery.  This wheel came from somewhere hit the yard lamp [4 1/2 feet tall] and broke off the fixture.  Landed next to and hit the bench.  It is a 225 X 16 trailer tire E rated.  Did it fall from the sky? or run up the 75 feet of driveway from the street?  No evidence of any other damage nor entry [such as broken tree limbs, other fixtures broken and no bushed or flowers crushed.
Sleep tight.

It stayed in the 70s all day, with sun. But the 90s are coming back soon. As usual I spent the evening on the porch but surprise yesterdays rain woke up the skeeters. Banilla is ready...S.J.

Time for me to call it a night. Weather alert says we may get some bad storms tonight with a 50% or better chance of rain with locally heavy rain possible. Heavy and frequent lightning is possible with wind gust to near 40 mph. See y'all tomorrow.

Bang Head Who finally gets published in CTT and accidental forgets to renew his subscription and ran out in July oh well will goto books a million and get a copy. renewal is in but says I will get like Octobers next lol.

Thanks for the congrats guys I turned that in about a year ago I think. it was little after getting rid of my other desk top which sat for a year or so and I have had this one over 3 years. But that shows they do go threw and keep them for quite a while I have a couple others turned in since but I forget what right now lol.

Not to much else going on here today. wife asked me ( yes mine doesn't mind me getting trains here and there) if I was going to get a train or something with the new C.C. I said no if anything may look into getting the hardwood flooring for the den that I want. It was tempting but I would rather do something to the train room/ den as I actually have enough trains for now. and that would give me a project I would enjoy doing. Will see might go over there tomorrow if I can. Oh well time will tell just might have to pick some up tomorrow Big Smile room is on the dark side so want a medium color as I'm not a fan of white but light oak or something would be nice.

will have to prep the room first befor I start thou. I'm kinda scared to see what is under the carpet and how smooth the concrete floor is under the carpet.

well engines packed up and its time for them to go lol

Evening All,

Ray, I will dedicate a special prayer for you friend tonight.  It is called the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

It's rained all day and we needed it like most in the mid-west.  Feels good outside.

The new CTT came but it got soaked!  But I did see the 4x8 layout plan and that may be put to use!  It is just a tad larger than the test track in Gabriel's room and it will be at least 4 more weeks till my bride can climb the steps upstairs.Wink

Need to go; must finish this weekend's homily

May God bless

Jim

Good afternoon everyone,

Thank you all so much for the condolences for my friend ED.  I will pass it along to his family.  His family is still gathered for the death watch but he is still hanging on by a thread.  His wife is a registered nurse and there is also a hospice nurse in attendance.  They both believe that he will pass soon.  He doesn't speak any longer and is sleeping.  I don't know if he knew I was there yesterday or not.  The nurse thought he did.  Regardless, I'm glad I was there.

Got my french drains rebuilt this morning with the help of one of the fence guys.  We put in lots of gravel and pipe fittings to direct rain water to this underground dry well.  Now everything on my side of the fence is done so the rest is up to the neigbor now.  I'm all done.  Block wall going up next week, if all goes well.

Cheif, enjoy that Carolina Bar-B-Que.  You know how it turns me on.  The way my stomach has been lately though, it would probably kill me.  I'd die happy though.  Went to Bob Melton's place once in Rocky Mount, N.C. after my grandmothers funeral.  My stomach was upset but I still got the Q down with a little Malox for a chaser.  Understand they are gone now.  Too bad, that place was an institution on the Tar River.  First went there when I was two or three my folks told me.  Used to ask for Bar-B-Cuse and Co Cola according to my mom.  Place wasn't too far from the ACL main line either.  Probably where I got infected by trains.

later,

Ray

Banks

Hello all,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better news yet, it is raining. Yes 1.3 inches last evening and it was just starting to rain as I left for work this AM. Corn is shoulder high and in full tassel. This rain should help it grow ears.

Pat, how dry is it there. We've been feeding hay for a couple of weeks. Thankfully first cutting was a bumper crop.

Ray I'll add your friend to my  Angel along with BOC

Since Buckeye is contributing SS more can I reduce mine?????????/

Prayers for those in need

Hello Banks:

Not to bad here. The rotational grazing is just a little faster than it was in June. No hay being fed yet. It seams to rain a good shower every 4 or 5 days. Hope it continues.

Pat

I got the new Frankenstein F unit wired and tested. It doesn't have a decoder yet so I ran it forward and backward around the layout on address 00. It runs beautifully. Right now it's got an F3B shell on it. It still needs some weight, coupler pockets and couplers and a decoder.

Well I had put tmcc into my N/S dash 8 and had taken the Tmcc out of my Williams PRR train-master and put it in the GG-1 I got by Williams this was about 2 months ago well 3 on the N/S well couldn't get the Williams GG-1 to work it worked befor coming out of the FM train-master well I was told to take the R2C board from the N/S and put into the GG-1 and see if it worked no so that told us it was the TMCC main board for DC commander well put the R2C board back into the dash 8 now it didn't work so sent both boards to ERR the checked them out replaced one and replaced the R2C board on the other sent them back to me get them back now the N/S has a short somewhere and the GG-1 only works in conventional and only one direction so this time I'm packing both up and sending everything to them let them see what they can come up with.

RT, Hope they don’t find out that the problem is someone used old Recycled and Reused defective cables and connectors from an old Computer as the problem. Laugh  Smile, Wink & Grin  Laugh  Oops - Sign

Just kidding, Nice job on the article in CTT. Yes

We saw a Road Runner yesterday at the shooting range. He walked or ran the whole front of the range. The only other one I remember seeing was about 40 years ago.

Road runners are a fairly common sight here. Great snake killers they are.

Good afternoon. It's 87° and feels like 96°. There's a chance of rain. The high will be 95° with a heat index of 108°.

The power in this area was off all morning, reason unknown. At least no one has seen fit to tell me why. It finally came on about forty-five minutes ago. I was going to mow my parents yard this morning but with no power to charge the tractors battery that got nixed and no way am I going to do it in the afternoon with the heat index near 110. My father mentioned it and I told him no way.

Well those of you who saw my last post yesterday got a glimpse of something I started work on yesterday. It's another Frankenstein. So far it consists of an Athearn F7 frame, Proto motor with Proto flywheels, shafts and worms, Proto trucks with Athearn gears throughout, Athearn nickel silver wheels and Athearn worm housing clips. The motor is locked in place with hot glue. Today I hope to get the motor and trucks wired and give it a test run on address 00.

Oh, yeah...on the marital finances front:

I learned early on that we weren't going to agree on ANYTHING related to money and we had separate bank accounts and credit accounts almost the full 20 years we were married.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depends on how you look at it) this is a godsend with the impending divorce.  It will be so much easier without the money looming large.

Happy Rainy Friday from Central New Jersey!

It's about 74F now and rain.  Which means I'll be vacuuming cars and not WASHING them....Smile, Wink & Grin

SPRay - Angel for your friend Ed.

BOC - Angel continues - as well as the people in Denver.

Fife - missing Spongebob is almost as criminal as missing Adventure Time.....

Found out that one of my accounts here also owns a TRAINS STORE!!!!!  And tomorrow there is a sale with Layaway!!!  I found a MTH House on Fire (which no one else has) and a few other things that I'll be putting away with a nice down payment.  I really wanted the house, and just need to get my firehouse.  That will be my center piece of the next layout....I'm so excited!!! Smile, Wink & Grin

Went to interview Wednesday via Harley, got lost, took too long on the interview and the weather moved in......found shelter under the US 1/ Amboy Ave bridge in Edison (Jack - know that one? lol) for about an hour.  Stopped into Cycle Gear nearby and scoped out new helmets and looked for new clear googles.  Prices were.....eh.  SO, I left for Hopelawn at 130, got to the interview 245, left there at 5 and got home at 745.....made for a long day.  And I only got damp, not soaked.

Vacation for a few days next week to work on the roadrunner.  Parts are in and work will commence.  Hope to have it running by Mid August.  Brakes are a must.  Repacking the wheel bearings is therapudic for me, I don't use a wheel bearing packer, I use my hands.

Heat will return by Tuesday, so I have all weekend.

My brother comes for a visit from his assignment from Afganistan Monday, so I may run down there with the family for a quick visit in Washington, DC.

That's all for now, I'll probably check back in a few. It'll be slow until this afternoon!!

KRM

Good morning all,

I must admit I am very envious of all of you who got rain. Sure wish we could get some. Been over two months. The corn has pretty much lost it’s chance here Banks. I got to get Fife to do one of his rain dances for us. Storm...........

KEV......FIL not far from you got heavy rains and lost power for 1.5 hours the night before last.  God bless the farmers and God help them. Angel  Come to think of it, we also need His help while the domino effect on food prices hit us all.  Sweet corn which is usually in abundance out here this time of year (local crops and imported from the Midwest) is not in abundance and was running at $.60 per ear at the grocery store this AM!!!

Chief I am with you on the bills. I do all of the finances too and for the same reasons........Wife has her own account and she buys the groceries and pays the life Ins bill. Other than that I cover it. Seems to work...........

Of course she pays the life insurance bill like clockwork.  The policy is on you!!!! Whistling You are worth more dead than alive. Whistling

Have a safe and good day!

Konbanwa,

I had a pretty busy week and have not been able to post.  The best part of the week was Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as the family and I spent those days at Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea.  Although it was extremely hot, we had a great time.  The parks are not nearly as big as the ones in the States but they are a good size and provide plenty of entertainment.  I may post some photos later on this weekend.

I read through this past week's posts.  It's nice to see Phish posting again, Bob and Doug M. are back from their trips, and that RT made the latest CTT.

SP Ray – I'm sorry about your friend.

Bob – No worries; send it when you have time.

Dennis – We have remained pretty dry in my area.  The southwestern part of Honshu (the island which Tokyo is on) was where the major damage was done.

I’ll pray for all of us in need, especially those healing and mourning (including the folks in Colorado).

Sayonara,

Joe

Shopping today at Kroger’s when moma gets herself up.

Sounds like a bad week RT. My conventional NS pair is running fine. For now.

Terrible news coming out of Colorado. Can’t even go to the movies and be safe. I just don’t get it. Prayers for all involved. Angel

I don’t think that there is anyway, justice can be done.

Have a safe and good day!

Chief.......you shouldn't get one.  The FEDS can't afford to give you an increase in SS $ (cost of living bump).  The Senators and Congressmen need to fund their own self-voted pay increases and are too busy with more spending of money they don't have on DougDG, RaySP, Shake and Bake, and V8's high-speed rail which is not needed and too few will use. Apparently we lost Fifepup's tv, the Nascar room tv, dvd-vcr player, our cordless phones, and DISH in the storm.  Youngest princess is climbing the walls w/o Spongebob this morning.  When the Dish doodle shows up this afternoon, she'll probably throw rose petals in his path.

So, no one got the mail yesterday.  Found my latest issues of Sailing and CTT inside.

Hi GUYZ,

RAIN!!!!! AT LAST RAIN!!!!  FIFE was doing his rain dance whilst playing the UKE last nite.  Good job!!!!  Gonna get 2 inches here?  Going down to BARRYs Train Shop today with friend so he can get his Santa Fe TMCC crane and caboose.  I wasn't there since April just after YORK.  So it is long over due.  I got my run in this mornin but as we started out on our long walk it brgan to rain very hard so that detered us to venture any further.

BUCKEYE glad to assist you there with the rodents but when are you gonna get rid of the dirt floors?

RAY, prayers for your friend and when I run trains I'll give him a whistle blast around the layout.  My he RIP.

Stay frosty,
