Hi GUYZ,

Rain all around us last nite but we only got afew drops, go figure?

MUGGY here yet apposed to break either later today or tomorrow?  Anyway got all my workout in sweating pretty hard but felt good.  Gonna watch The Open from Northrn England after this then try and GOLF later today with BRO.  Tried to sell my K-line Erie F3s with Passenger cars but when I put them on the track yesterday and fired em up and ran them, said way to cool to sell so gonna look at something else to put on the block.  Tomorrow going down to take friend to BARRYs to pick up his Santa Fe TMCC crane and working caboose that I got for him at a fantastic price.  So maybe he'll buy me lunch?

Stay frosty,

Well sorry I have been missing in action. Been a little busy at work and here. Well went out to goto work yesterday morning and saw a wet area under the truck actually saw about a 5" citcle the morning befor but just thought it was from rain and driping from bed or something well not quite checked water reservoir and it was empty. so added water drove it to the GMC dealer next to work ( about a 1/3 mile away ) dropped it off and walked to work. Well its the waterpump and another piece can't think at moment and there going to flush it and replace all the antifreeze ect ect but this time its guarenteed for the life of the truck not like firestone that was just 90 days I think and that was like 16 months ago and it was about 1/2 the price again as to what the gmc dealer is doing. yeah I could of done it myself but needed to get to work and didn't have the cash flow to get the parts at the moment and didn't have the correct tool anymore either need to replace them. So I'm waiting for my crdit card to come in ( supose to be 2 - 3  so I'm stuck at home till them supervisor got me home last night.

Oh well just sitting at home relaxing today.

Did get my tmcc command moduals back in the other day so may reinstall them into the GG-1 by Williams, and my NS by lionel) hmmm chiefs NS got so hot it burnt up my NS fried the TMCC circuits about a month ago seems like a trend here something with NS Whistling Thats why I hope to repaint it NYC to improve on it.

Gonna be a rather dull day for us'uns. Supposed to get rain today and tomorrow..we'll see about that..may end up with nothing but dull here....

Going to get some walks in this week..seems a little less stick and gum for us so it will make my walks a little more enjoyable...

DonB:  You just reminded me..I'll be needing a couple of hinges for neighbour kids layout as well...

Have a good day peoples!!

Good Evening, WOW lots to comment on, hope I can stay awake!

Ray, Glad things are working out regarding the fence!  (I will be home tomorrow and Thurs eve., if you want to call.)

Brutus, Glad your feeling better!

I think there must be something goin on out here regarding the dental issues!  I have been having issues as well.  About 2 mths ago I lost a "eye" tooth from eating some chocolate covered almonds.  Dentist said there wasn't enough bone left for a root canal, and a "Partial" would be required.  This next Tuesday I go in for the final insertion of the partial.  THEN discovered had a molar that has "died" and needs to be removed, and the tooth next to it should be removed as well.  (Both are prior root canal locations.)  The implant alternatives are a back-up contingency.  Very expensive, and not a permanent solution, maybe 5-7 years.

As Chief says I'm not shoveling coal, just pushing an oil valve.  But hey, I'm supposedly retired and that's work!  Not to mention the heat.  So far I've only burned my self 3 times, 1 is totally healed, but the other 2 just happened this past week.  (1 on the arm, 1 on the leg).  The finger is still in a splint, but doing OK.

Speaking of the Chief, he has been doing great on the layout!  But he is STILL a politician!  Just like most agencies give them a simple solution that is inexpensive, and what do they do is inflate the cost and by something different and miss the mark.  Since he is using MTH Realtrack, which has the roadbed molded in, I sent him information on the following hinge.

I saw the advantage of the recessed area to mount a piece of wood under the bridge for stability (plastic bridge) and adjust height for correct track surface height.  Cost of hinges - $6 a pair.

So what does the Chief do....?  He decides he needs some hinges rated at 75lbs or so, and ends up costing $11 EACH!  As he described the hinges I think he ordered something like these.  (Sound like typically government boondoggle?)

NO WONDER THEY DON'T WORK.

While I was looking decided I would hinge a couple of sections on MY layout, that have been lift out sections.  Essentially it is the "side" of a Figure 8.

And these are the hinges I ordered;

And these were only $6.00 a pair.  (Think I will send the Chief a pair!)

Stourbridge, I WILL get some videos, but it will take some time.  #3 is out of service until AFTER Labor Day, also difficult to film and "Fire" the engine at the same time.  Will need to arrange for a cab ride.

Later 5 am comes early (3:30)

Doug M....Zip it!Zip it!Zip it! If the Chief finds out I'll be paying more of his SS.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Already knew.  SS Administration emailed me.  Said my SS was safe and sound since Buckeye got a big new job.  BTW: Your Company has an office here.  May have them bring you here so we can try and spring our trap again. Devil

Now for news.  Headlines: About half of the wiring to the lockons to the two mainlines and the bridges are in.  Running conventionals on both mainlines from a ZW.  Crossovers work too.  So, the trains are circling the whole layout. Yes Drinks Cool  Ran them in forward and reverse.  Ran one K-Line NS switcher so long it got hot and shorted out.  Will check it tomorrow and see if, after it cools, it runs.  If not, goes in the repair shop in the back.

Off to bed after calling Shake and Bake and telling him the good news.

Sleep tight.

Howdy guys - got some bug early yesterday morning (middle of the night) and think I got over it some time today - dunno if it was food I ate or what?  Nobody else was sick at all.  It was bad.  Yuck.  Back to work tomorrow - hope there is not a dip in the SS for you guys!  Read some and watched some videos, but didn't really do much of anything for about 2 days.  Mike - thanks for driving, I'll take it easy in the observation car Smile

Good evening all,

It is raining in SE Indiana.  Long day at work.  Game got cancelled.  Projects at home at standstill.  Other than the rain, not a good day.  TBIL and I can drive in the rain.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Time for me to call it a night. Found out today the Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube isn't the best thing for a model loco gear lube. It thins out into nothing and evaporates away leaving behind some green specks. Back to the Dexron/Mercon ATF. See y'all tomorrow.

Tonight it's 80, went to 88 this afternoon.

We got about 30 minutes of steady rain this morning. I am thankful for it but it's not near enough. Fried eggs and potatoes for supper and some Strawberry-Lemon ice cream for our evening treat. A good ride on the thingy last night..S.J.

Over an inch of rain in 20 minutes.

You've never gotten rain by the dumpster load? Many times that's the only way it falls here. Other times just enough to get the windshield wet falls. It's one or the other usually.

Evening all,

Thanks for the warm welcome back.

I'm trying real hard to be a good nurse to my bride, but alas compassion is not my strong suit.  That hot pink and blue cast has been threatened to reside where the sun doesn't shine more than once.

One other bit of good news we have a new to us dog.  A golden retriever about a year or so old.  It was a stray that Felicity nurtured to health.  He is awesome.  He loves the kids, especially Felicity and our other dog the schnauser names Molly.

Went over the Gun Safety material once more with Gabriel for his 4-H judging tomorrow.  He knows the material pretty well.

As far a MTH entering "S", I think it will bring more attention to a very space friendly scale.  Let's see what the prices will be like

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Chief, just reflecting on your generosity last night -  he sent me a load of 027 track when i was starting my layout years ago. Still use it. Smile

DougM,

You are so right about Chief and his generosity. He has came through for me now twice. First when I need to replace my RW that smoked on the layout table and now on a nice swap of some switchers that he gave me the better side of and requested nothing at all. I think he may be suffering from a guilt complex from all of the "Mayor" sponsored free meals he gets.  Laugh Smile, Wink & Grin

Needless to say, I was watering the lawn to death, starting at dawn, when along came severe lightening, thunderstorms, and an hour of torrential downpours.  I did not dare go out to turn off the sprinker....the lightening was that bad, that frequent, and that close. I see you are not in jail for assault.  That is a good thing. Smile, Wink & Grin  BTW.......were you able to plant the bomb your extra propane tank under his deck?

Chief, I am envious of your large tomatoes.

I'll be able to see if the Chief is trying to pawn off rotten, insect-infested tomatoes on me. Wink

Good morning all,

Had good meeting with my neighbor this morning and any issues with the fence are gradually being resolved.

Welcome home Phish.  Glad to see you are posting again.

V8 Dennis, good news about your dental work and bad news about your 1989 Cavalier.  I keep holding my breath on my 87 Buick when I go for smog checks too.  I'm sheduled to start crown work on my tooth with the root canal in about two weeks.

Chief, I am envious of your large tomatoes.  At least we have been able to get some called tomatoes on the vine here that have more flavor than the Roma variety.  Those things are tasteless.  Good work on the box.  Good idea about soldering all the joints together.  I have many voltage drops because I didn't.  I get away with it when running high voltage for DCS but in conventional it is very apparent.  Trains go slow in some spots and run like a rocket in others.

Ironic close passing of TCA members,  Dick Meyer, a builder of standard gauge tin trains passed away recently.  Just a couple of months later, a long time employee of his, Butch Alvarado, died too.

BOC, prayers for good test results. Angel

Jack,  good luck with the new contacts.

later,

Ray

RIJack, Yeah let me know how that goes with DirecTV and your SIL.

DirecTV has me by the short hairs because the trees are too tall for DishTV’s satellite to work and the phone company service won’t work because we are too far from their router. I also heard today that DirecTV came to terms with Viacom. They get me for $70.49 a month and there is nothing on. Laugh

The weatherman missed it again today. Angry 102 out there right now. Cool

In my case I over compensated on the dosage a bit. Frightfully easy to do even for people who have been diabetics for decades. Here's some reading material. Sadly the best way to understand diabetes is to have it. No promises on the rain.

Mornin' boys.  Somethin' smells like PHISH!!!! Great to have you back! Left HugRight Hug  Come in a little closer for the real thing. Kisses  BTW, are you excited about MTH entering the S arena?

WELCOME HOME, JIM SP.  Great news on all fronts from you:  Felicity and Gabriel, the addition, the room for a modest layout, and hopefully a full recovery on your wife's foot.  Don't sass her or you might get a cast planted up your you-know. Whistling

BOC......prayers continue for the test results you want. Angel I think you need more banilla in your diet. Smile, Wink & Grin

V8 and all the parched amongst us........praying for rain. Angel  Allegedly I am going to get some this afternoon.  Heard that too many times here without a drop.  Maybe this time. Bang Head  watering the lawn will continue regardless so the wifey has green grass for this coming wekkend's dual birthday party for the grandkids.

DougM......I am supposed to get my new contacts by this Friday.  17 years on the last pair seems to be my undoing, but the optometrist assures me I will be seeing much better than I have in the past 5 years, or arguably better than I have in decades.  I can just imagine how frustrating the eyesight thing has been for you all of these years, then to receive the gift.  It is like a miracle.  Me?  I can't wait for Friday!!!!

V8.......sorry to hear your 1989 Cavalier didn't pass CA.emissions.  I don't understand.  How can that go South after only 23 years? Whistling  Best wishes for a cheap and simple fix, if there is such a thing nowadays on a car.  You have to admit, getting this type of service out of the car has been a blessing so far.  Hope it continues.

Jeff.........for the uneducated and uninformed in these matters, how does the sugar level get that low overnight on the meds?  Please send some of that rain up to us Nawtheners, please? Smile

KEV........later today my son-in-law will be calling DirecTV for a credit, a reduction in price, or he says he's pulling the plug and going back to Dish or Verizon Fios.  DirecTV's reduction of channels for the same contracted price?  Unacceptable.  I will let you know how he made out.  Bet they cave without so much as a peep.

V8 and RaySP........hope you can get the choppers squared away without filing for bankruptcy. Sad

Dennis......still in your camp, hoping the visas and travel approval come through without a hitch, and BEFORE they become a snag. Angel  Violent executuion mode works!!!!

Chief......guess I am going to have to drive down to Rolesville, make reservations at Eagle's nest, and get my tomatoes.  Gee, the Raleigh mayor gets his delivered. Surprise Smile, Wink & Grin

Rich........I used to work in Linden NJ and lived in Avenel.  Don't remember seeing any pictures of you on the wall at the post office. Ever take a PLANNED tour of the Rahway maximum security prison?  Whistling  Some more Angel that you strike gold on one of these job opportunities.

Don........the very thought of you shovelling coal reminds me of the old Flash Gordon episodes from the 1950s when Buster Crabbe was shoveling coal into Emporor Ming's furnace while getting horsewhipped. Laugh

Darren.....I really enjoyed the Goose videos.  At least you got to see them in all of their glory.  Hope the mudslides are not affecting you.

JimmyT.......except for a wash, does your MustangGT ever get wet? Whistling

Brent......we all know you and yours are alive and thriving.  Don't make us take a road trip to get your news first hand.  Soon after our arrival, the neighbors will drive you out with torches and pitchforks in their hands. LaughHope Christina is giving you and Susan all you can handle.  Couldn't happen to a nicer couple.

Re the uproar at the wife's office park last week that made the news.  An angry road rage driver took out a guy on a motorcycle on purpose, then tried to run him and his motorcycle over again while they were sprawled out on the ground, then the driver took off and took immediate refuge in the wifey's office complex, ditching his car and trying to disappear into one of the buildings.  He was caught quickly anyway and hauled off to jail.  Guy on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital for the injuries he sustained.  Wifey talked to "insiders" about the incident earlier this week and was told the victim had a prior record for untoward advances with a farm animal!!!  None of us are safe out there on the roads.  Renews my worries about the wifey walking alone to her car in the parking lot after work.

Later, gang.  As LAZ would say, stay frosty.

Phish: Good to see you back.

Well I found the coupler cover plate. I keep a couple of old strip magnets stuck on the side of the fridge for just such an emergency and it picked up the plate inside of a minute. Upon examining the coupler pocket I saw that the teeth that hold the clip were worn down. I put the plate back on then took steps to make sure it never drops off again.

Belt and suspenders anyone?

HI GUYZ,

Was a muggy 77 here tis morning at 0500.  Got my 2 mile run and 6 miles of walk and 11 mile bike ride done, watered all the plants, lifted weights.  This afternoon gonna take some pics and try and sell my K-line Erie F3s ABA with passenger set on the other forum this afternoon.

SOURBRIDGE, nice video tanks.

STURPHISH, Welcome back, prayers for the WIFEs Foot.  Hope it wasn't caused by a kick in the pants.

BLOWNOUT, prayers for you.  Gotta start eating.  No more making holes in that belt!

Stay frosty,

Had a bit of a mishap here. One of my Athearn cars dropped a coupler pocket cover plate and of course there was an uncoupling and derailment. The mess has been cleaned up but I can't find that cover plate anywhere. It's not the first time for this car. If I can't find the cover plate I'm going to drill the pocket and tap it for a screw and install a Kadee pocket cover on it. It won't just pop off then. Time I found a magnet and go around the track.
