Had good and bad news today. My Chest xray and bloodwork came back today and all is fine, just a bit high in sugar, runs in the family. Doc says lose 10-20 pounds and might take care of it. Then went to the vet for my Husky. She has a lump on her back and it's a tumor. We need to have a sample taken next week and have it checked out. After that there are two ways to go......

Traindood - I guess in this area we have it better than most. There are plenty of places to get a great porkroll egg and cheese around here! Whenever any of us at work mention "prec" everyone knows what it is!

Buckeye - hurry up and get it out of you system soon, I'm sure chief''s a watchin!

Ray (SP) - Yes be careful with that stuff, at least your pain has gone away.

Don Baker - NICE!

Dougdagrump - I can't believe your price for gas!! Around here it's around $3.30 -$3.35, cheapest around $3.25 on the Parkway. On the GSP (Parkway) I believe by contract  they can only change it once a week (Thur night) so while everyone else is raising there prices they stay the same until Thur night. Hence the $3.25. Last week on Thur there must have been a 15 car long line at each pump in our area.

I wonder how much gas is around other places??

Take Care,

Ray

Road of riches: Police looking for loser of thousands of dollars scattered along Ohio highway

03-08-2011 07:44 AM PST
DELAWARE, Ohio (Associated Press) --

Police north of Columbus, Ohio, are trying to figure out how thousands of dollars in cash ended up along a highway.

Police Chief Russ Martin in the city of Delaware says there were so many bills in the median of U.S. Route 23 on Monday that an officer said it looked as though the field was growing money.

Authorities had been alerted by a motorist, and officers spent hours collecting the cash. Martin won't reveal the total except to say it was "five figures."

He tells WBNS-TV that police checked with the FBI, an armored car company and bank couriers. None reported missing any money.

The chief is confident officers rounded up all the bills, so he says drivers shouldn't stop in hopes of finding treasure.

Hey Chief:        Just thinking about that swell deck you'all built. An idea popped into my head; why not go whole hog and put a roof over it? This way the other fellas have one less thing to bust your crullers about. Of course they will probably find something else.    Smile, Wink & Grin

Hey John:     Up my way there is a swell place to eat, it's the Jefferson Diner; yea, you guessed it, it's in Jefferson, Sussex Co. N.J. They make the best ham egg and cheese i've ever had.   Thumbs Up   If your ever up this way give it a try. later.

fifedog.....

I was just thinking about what I should give up for Lent and here is the list I came up with:

  1. I will not bash the Chief during Lent.
  2. I will not cheat the Chief during Lent.
  3. I will not bad mouth the Chief during Lent.
  4. I will not lie about the Chief during Lent.
  5. I will not defame the Chief during Lent.
  6. I will not insult the Chief during Lent.
  7. I will not abuse the Chief during Lent.
  8. I will not mistreat the Chief during Lent.
  9. I will not be rude to the Chief during Lent.
  10. I will not exploit the Chief during Lent.
  11. I will not be impolite to the Chief during Lent.

Which one of these habits, if given up for Lent would make me a better person?  Your guidance and counseling in these matter is appreciated.

BTW, did you see that dog house the Chief built on the back of his house?  I believe it will hold at least six old yellers under there in the dirt. Laugh

Got a new iPad to play with... I'll be looking for toy train apps

Doug -- I've had my iPad for about 4 months, I REALLY like it.  Very user friendly and wonderful to take on the road and not worry about it.  First app from the Apple store should be "Angry Birds HD", $4.95 and it is FUN.  You AND the kids will love it.

Chief, nice looking deck.  Good work!  Time to fire up that bar-b que over there.  :You mentioned fried baloney, and egg sandwich.  Don't remember eating that  combination but it sounds good.  I just had oatmeal this morning with blueberries and strawberries.  It was gooood along with cream cheese on wheat toast.

Local election today for three new city council members.  Trying to study enough to make an intelligent decision.

Don, heard about your wind but did not notice any up here.

Called doctor per instructions yesterday morning with report on prednisone use.  I thought that was it, but his office called me back at the end of the day around 5:00PM and told me to continue while tapering off for the next week.  I was upset because I usally take it in the morning and by then the day was almost over.  I know you are not suppose to stop taking this stuff abruptly.  I wish they had called  me right away.  Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill but I know this stuff has to be taken carefully.  Be glad when I'm off of it.  Too many possible side effects.  Meanwhile pain has subsided in my leg so that's good.

Have to plan something for dinner tonight since it's fat Tuesday.  Probably have fish tomorrow but that is no sacrafice for me.  I love seafood.

Later,

Ray

Isn't it tradition that ALL New Decks are initiated with a Party?  Refreshments are on the way.

Sure looks good, and sturdy as well !

Today is Kay's Birthday, so forcing her to take the day off, and enjoy.

Had quite a bit of wind thru here last night.  Don't know of much damage, a few trees down.  Winds are to continue today, but shouldn't be bad.

Good morning all,

It's cool and rainy today.  Some thunderstorms rolled in last night and the early morning hours which made for some great sleeping conditions.  However, the baby did not see it that way and felt the need to be awake from 0145 - 0345.  He was content to play on the floor while I watched a Mark Twain documentary on PBS.

I had cereal and coffee for breakfast and will have a banana shortly as a mid-morning snack.  I don't have too much on the work agenda today, but I do have some training to take care of this afternoon.  Tonight we have parent-teacher conferences as the kids' school.

Good day,

I've been trying to get my 5x9 PW Lionel layout back into shape so that I can use it again.  It would be okay if I had space to store all the extra items that are scattered on it.Oops - Sign

Spent the weekend on the PGT, and it should be ready to go on the next dry day.  Replaced the front valve cover gasket, upper tensioner idler, and changed the oil and filter.  The oil had a small amount of gas in it, so I am going to replace the Bosch universal O2s with Denso OE type and see if that helps.  Also ordered Rick Sebak's "Kennywood Memories" documentary on DVD.

Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores to do and some paperwork. Then I can relax. Watched a preseason baseball game yesterday from Mesa, AZ. Summer is coming.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps supposedly in the 50s.  Weather people have not been too accurate lately.  A good analogy for settling an estate is like WW I.  At first there is a lot of movement and activity, and then there is trench warfare where nothing much changes.  We have entered the trench warfare side of things.  All hopes for a quick sell on the house went down the tubes yesterday.  Now we have to go thru a realtor (who we do have picked out), and start that slow process.   We shall see.  Wife is again doing most of the leg work.  Work was long and tedious yesterday.  May be better today, but we have a lot of case reports came in yesterday so this week is busy.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after V tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

40's and 50's & mostly cloudy here lately.

I grew up in Lansing, Michigan where there is a low clearance underpass under the Grand Trunk & Western tracks.  It was a common appearance to see a rental truck, or pieces of a rental truck stuck there.  All of the city trucks that would not fit underneath had prominent lables on them not to drive under those tracks.

We've discovered that my wife's physical therapist has a son, maybe three years old, that is interested in trains.  I sent my copy of the 2011 RTR catalog home with him.  Today, he showed us a picture of the tyke laying on the floor 'reading' his new book.   I keep telling his dad that no childhood should be without a train.

Enjoyed the fishing video - espically the hose bib episode.  I laid a new water line to my house in Ky.  Added a hose bib near the garden while I was at it.  I had just finished up back filling and re-grading the trench about dusk.  Had the 3 point hitch grader blade picked up and was headed back to the barn with the tractor - you guessed it - I snagged the brand new hose bib with the end of the blade!  I learned that a standard garden hose will thread on to a 1/2" pipe thread and not leak if tightened with pliers and the pistol grip nozzle keeps the water inside the pipe.

Tired.  Worked 12+ hours on Saturday and Sunday.  Crunch time on a new set of tools.  Lots of challanges along the way.  Good thing I enjoy what I do, 'cause I've been doing a lot of it lately.

My scarcasm filter is still operative.  In today's department meeting, we were talking about two new programs that have been worryingly quiet since they were announced.  Kind of sounds like funding might be delayed until the last minute - prime set up for more long hour weekends like I just had.  I did manage not to say anything that I regretted.

All for now.

Hey Joe - sent you something on yahoo {:)]

Pretty good Monday, which is to say I was overly tired all day and glad to just get through it.  Oh well, there is always tomorrow.  Son was home sick with sinus headache and a slight fever.  If he's still sick tomorrow, he has to go to the doctor - can't afford for my wife to get sick.

Tardis is ready, so let's get going guys!

Good evening all,

I had an uneventful day at work and then came home to a pleasant night with the family.  The wife made pasta, garlic bread, and salad.  Afterwards, I played Old Maid and Memory with the 7y/o son while the baby watched.  Our daughter did not play because she was still cleaning her room; it was supposed to be cleaned Friday, but she has a different interpretation of clean than the wife and I have.

I did not run trains tonight due to the other games.  I just finished some Bible study prep and I will be off to bed soon.

S.J. - It sounds like Thanksgiving around your house.

Chief - I hope all is improving in your parts.

Good night,

Joe
