Good Afternoon Ya'll from Cloudy and Cold Taxachussetts,
Recent rain and relatively warmer temperatures are reducing the snow cover. About 10% of the lawn is showing out front and 20% out back.....but 2-4' snow piles will take some more time. We've got 3 rivers at or above flood stage, expect more to come later in the week as 2 days of rain, 40s, and continued snow melt will finish out the week. Finally had to cave in and get a battery in the car.....got 8 Winters out of the original. Ya gotta love the way cars are engineered nowadays. Mechanic had to remove a shroud in the engine compartment to get at the old battery, and he still had to use two pair of vice grips clipped on the battery terminals to lift it out. In the old days.......never mind.
AF-Ray....... I will say a prayer for your pup's test. Fatty benign tumors called lipomas are very common in dogs. Let's hope that is all she has.
Apologies to all for going over the top with dog stuff on the POT.
HudsonJohn......it sounds like you and I are in the same flood warning situation.
DonB......[bday] to your better half. You must be glad she married an old geezer like you. It was very nice of you to send the Chief that classy deck accessory. I don't see where he has an electric outlet on the deck to plug in any spotlights for the shows or plug in a beer fridge. You would think that a clever guy like him wouldn't have missed such details.
DougM.......hope you got the homestead cleaned up before the return of your wifey. I usually place all of the empties in the bottom of the trash barrel and then cover them over with a couple bags of garbage.
RaySP......glad to hear the leg is feeling better. Re all the talk about fish on the menu, I am always amazed that I live about 5,280 feet from the Atlantic and the fish prices here are always comparable to what they are 1,000 miles inland in Chicago.
Buckeye........I have to agree with Chuck about the Lent list you prepared, about what to give up. Telling the truth about the Chief is tough enough. Remaining silent may not be the most Christian thing to do.
Chief......you are going on a retreat? I didn't realize the word retreat was in your vocabulary. It isn't one of those retreats where you have to remain silent for a couple of days, is it? If so, you might be asked to leave.
DougDG........your gas prices are always higher than most of the rest of us. How can you live so close to a major harbor and pay more for gasoline than those in Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana who have their gasoline trucked 500-1,000 miles? On the topic of rare, vintage cell phones. I may have you beat. Mine can only be used as a phone and a camera.....that's how old it is.
Traindood......I also noticed the Chief has no gun racks built on his deck or any guard towers to protect against Nawthern invaders.
JimmyT......methinks you are not coming totally clean about your pursuit of Boisenberry. Lots of info from you on PGT gaskets and the like, but not enough work on the 96.
SJ.........how can an astute observer of women's ways such as yourself get hornswaggled into going shopping with one? Don't feel bad, however. You are not alone. I dropped my wife off at the front door to Target Saturday as she was just going to run in for a minute to buy some hair product, and she didn't come back out for 50 minutes.
Brent......the "Big Dig" here started out as a $2.8 Billion project and grew into the most expensive public works project in US history @ $15.5 billion. The tunnels leak like a sieve, one motorist was killed by improperly installed falling ceiling tiles (2 tons apiece), and all of the above ground space which was vacated when they moved the Central Artery undeground was supposed to be turned into parks......but they ran out of money. The Fed's funding was pulled when they eventually realized this project was a grossly mismanaged project and a huge money pit after the actual expenditures versus forecast reached 500% over budget. When the Government has your money, they show a particular callousness with how well it is spent and a blatant gross inability to manage it's use. No checks and balances, and certainly no ultimate accountability built right in to boot.
Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Traindood, My wife reminded me that we ate at the Jefferson Dinner a number of years ago when my daughter went to camp. After she said that I remembered and it was on our list for places to definitely go back to. It may be a road trip this year.
John
Lunch time,

Traindood, The Tick Tick is always a stop of mine. There is always a truck or 2 of ours there.
Gas Prices, I paid $3.29.9 a gallon for FULL SERVICE this morning.

Too bad chief can't make York, I was well prepared to defend against a grit attack.
don't speak to fast SJ I can make York in about 10 hrs driving the speed limit and chief is about 4 hrs closer than I.
He just needs to fire up the chief mobile Friday afternoon. Stating her can't make it just might be his evil Rebel way trying to trick you all. Only Dennis would know as he has brain washed him into being a southern.

A nutty goat. Actually the only good Buckeye is the chocolate and peanut butter candy.
Brent, no mashed fingers, not cuts or bruses.
Gang, wish I could get to York. Got a retreat on Tuesday, Wed., Thursday and Friday morning. Then have to get back for parade on Saturday AM.
Maybe this fall.

Its a balmy 27 degrees here in Wausau Doug, and yes indeed we do have more of that crystaline delight falling here. In fact the prediction is for up to 6" of heavy wet snow. The driveway has been cleared once already and it doesn't show signs of stopping. The folks who run the ski hill should be happy. Fortunately neither my wife or I have to work today. Unfortunately we were going to take our daughter back to college today. At least two of us were not willing to make a white knuckled 350 mile round trip through hazardous road conditions.
So it looks like I might just put some time in on running trains or posting something on the PreWar thread.

Mornin' Fellas.Well this morning there was a tie-up on I-95 North of the DC Beltway, sign said 7 miles - 33 minutes! Holy Cow! So I took the back way into work which takes me past the Maryland Big Dig (also known as the ICC or Inter County Connector), it is going to be the first all electronic tolled road in Maryland, and it will be one of the highest tolls per mile of any tolled road in the USA... but I digress... there is a nice new sign where they are chopping down trees... 'Future home of the ICC Eastern Operations Building'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF the road being tolled is all electronic tolling, why do we need a HUGE and I mean HUGE building to run the danged thing??? I'm beginning to think I live near Jack!
Anyway I missed my Chic-Fil-A breakfast bagel... now I'm hungry! To top it all off The Q is in NJ doing an audit through tomorrow. Looks like I'll be enjoying Canadian Club and Sprite again tonight. OHIO is Heaven? I don't think so... everytime I've been there all it does is rain!Chief - Nice deck... did anyone try to saw off a leg or fall off a ladder? If not then it wasn't a successful project.JT - How's the stalking going? OH and I guess more importantly, how is the job searching progressing? Lots of jobs opening up in the DC area... and it is great for the single scene...
Aloha, Rain and grey here. Better than what's failling on Bob in Wausau Wisconsin. Sorry I missed Kay's b-day. though Don is probably still celebrating because of the time difference out there. Joe, congrats on the kid's reports. Dennis, that's going to be a great picture. Last class of the quarter last evening. Came out to all the streetlights out on Jackson between State and Wabash so I called the Mayor's office to tell someone about that. He can't be too busy these days. I thought a Buckeye was a nut, not a goat. Love the gas prices mentioned; just paid $3.76 here in the land of Lincoln.

I'll take it. Laz counts school day's, I count winter day's. We did our shopping yesterday so I shall goof off today. No breakfast yet but I did have a paczki. For those of you that may not know it's a high calorie, high fat, filled jelly type donut that they make the day before Lent begins....S.J.

Wifey sent me this email. Pretty good.
Charley, a new retiree-greeter at Wal-Mart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time.Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies. One day the boss called him into the office for a talk. "Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang-up job,but you're being late so often is quite bothersome." "Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it." "Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd though your coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say if you came in late there?" (scroll down...... ..............) "They said, "Good morning, Admiral, can I get you coffee, sir?" One of my favorite stories, ever! WAL-MART SENIOR GREETER
Cloudy. More storms in the forecast for this evening. Was sleeping late with the cat in the bed [yes, while I was gone she allowed the cat to move from guest bedroom to ours] when the weather alert went off. Guess they want to "cover their bases" since they goofed the other evening.
Think we will have Eggo's and bacon along with our coffee.
Later.
Mornin' boys. 39 in the Mid-Atlantic region with , , and yes . Wouldn't want to live on the shores of the Potomac or Susquehanna.
AF53 - We'll lose that weight together. Good luck with doggie.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is raining. 38 degrees. Going up to 44 today with rain most of the day.
Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of errands to run and the usual chores around the house. then, I will dry off and relax. An afternoon nap sounds good.
Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Stay frosty,
Good morning all,
It is rainy in SE Indiana. See where Butler is in NCAA again. Duke had better watch out, right, Chief? Nice deck, by the way. Dennis, glad to hear the news about the movie. Looking forward to it. Watched Glee and V last night. Glee will leave you scratching your head, laughing your a-- off, and crying your eyes out all in one episode. I had the regular fare on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after soccer tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Happy B'day Kay. Really good weather. Grape vines pruned [big time consumer]. Lazer sight installed on .380. Better to shoot you with.
Reading the Bible on Heaven. Discovered why it is so great besides being with the Lord. Only the "sheep" will be there. No "goats" and everyone knows Buckeyes are goats. So, no Buckeyes in Heaven.
Off to bed.
Happy birthday to Kay!!!
Chief – great deck man
TARDIS is ready and I'm running really late - catch you guys later!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
The kids’ parent-teacher conferences went well; both of them are doing great in school. I had take-out chicken fried steak and potato wedges for dinner. We had a quiet evening at home and all is well.
Unfortunately, I did not run trains tonight, but at least my Ameritowne Police Station arrived. I am looking forward to building it this weekend and getting it on the layout - someone needs to maintain the peace.
AF53 - I'm glad you are well, but sorry to hear about your Husky.
Good night,
Joe
Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,
Resting up tonight. Long day between school and work tomorrow.
Traindood, Ken, I am on loan to the Gas Co. tomorrow. We have to take our Mobile Command Post to Oradell tomorrow. Close to you but not close enough. Depends where we have to move it to. Maybe if I am near the Tick-Tock I will have lunch there. I will definitely try the Jefferson when I am in the area.
SP Man, Ray, Good luck with the leg. Speedy Recovery
Buckeye, My Lab would love digging in the dirt in that "Dog House". He drives us and my daughter nuts, because he loves digging under decks and steps.
Don, That is one great addition.
AF53, Ray, Good luck with the weight loss. Think positive about the tumor on Sable.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Good evening guys. Been a busy day with some cases this morning and two meetings starting at 0600. I tried to get on the forum yesterday, but it wasn't working. Regarding gas prices, my car uses 92+ octane, so I am paying $3.79 a gallon...I know John B across the pond is spending a tad more.
The movie I have been working on is finally done. The trailer has been seen with the release of "The Grace Card", but is now available on line: http://www.courageousthemovie.com/ Hope it changes some lives and families for the better. It was a lot of work, a lot of fun, but I am glad it is done so I can spend more time with my family....till the next one.
Chief, porch looks great. I am sure the girls will get their sun in on the back deck.
Time for bed.God Bless,
Dennis

Buckeye Riveter fifedog..... I was just thinking about what I should give up for Lent and here is the list I came up with: I will not bash the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not cheat the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not bad mouth the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not lie about the Chief during Lent. Maybe you can do this one I will not defame the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not insult the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not abuse the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not mistreat the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not be rude to the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not exploit the Chief during Lent. never happen I will not be impolite to the Chief during Lent. never happen Which one of these habits, if given up for Lent would make me a better person? Your guidance and counseling in these matter is appreciated. BTW, did you see that dog house the Chief built on the back of his house? I believe it will hold at least six old yellers under there in the dirt.
