Ray if you complain to him or send a very polite email how he could get better results from buyers he will add you to his block list I know out of my 3 selleraccounts he has 2 of them blocked for one complaining an engine wasn't as advertise. the other I just suggested he get some one to check and make sure the motorize units work as they should befor listing or state so in listing. 2 different items about 6 months apart from each other. Well both those seller accounts are now blockes from buying just tells me I don't want to deal with him and yes I think I left neg feedback after he blocked me.

Another special morning post. It is a "good news, bad news" type of scenario. The bad news is that one of my favorite drivers definitely will not be driving in the Indy 500 this year. The good news is that one of my favorite drivers definitely will not be driving in the Indy 500 this year....because she is having a baby in September. It was in the Indy Star this morning about Sarah Fisher. While a lot of her fans (including me) were hoping she could make one last run at Indy this year, she had made it pretty clear she was hoping this event would occur.

IIABSDISEI with showers moving in later and temps in the 50s. Not sure why no April pot yet, but decided to post here. I perused the new Lionel catalog online yesterday. Busy last night with all sorts of little tasks. Good quiet day at work Thursday and hopefully Friday will be the same. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Nothing much going on today - weird day at work. Everyone had questions and emergencies, but luckily Brutus was there to fix it and make it all better. Bwahahahaha - hope I got it right We had chinese food for lunch and then later a retirement party so had some cake - then I just tried to stay awake the rest of the afternoon!

The Special Olympics was great today. I helped out with the wheelchair events. I'm glad I was able to be part of this awesome day for those Olympians.
I had a quiet night at home after picking up our daughter from Jazz class. We had chicken teriyaki for dinner and then I played some catch with our son. I had a nice chat with SJ, Brutus, and Charlie tonight. We discussed our wish lists from the latest Lionel catalog.
RI Jack - I'm glad my post spurred you on. Next year, my wife and I will make sure our two older kids help out as well. They were in school today, but that will not be a problem next year since we are going to start homeschooling them. As you said, they should have a different perspective on their lives after a day volunteering at the Special Olympics.

Thought I'd catch the last day of this Pot. Back at the 'scope after a pretty good week off. We are doing the VLBI run where we tie in w/ other telescopes around the world. Right now we are working w/ Spain and Chile. Later we will be working w/ Hawaii and California. The actual observations are fairly straightforward, but you have to keep a tight watch on the system. Going to mean a few extra long shifts for us as I still have my trainee. Was up for about 22 hours yesterday after coming up to the site and then operating.
Supposed to be 95 in Tucson tomorrow. Summer is coming.

I don't have much on the work schedule today, but I will be volunteering time today to help out with the Special Olympics. The base hosts a Regional competition every year. I volunteered last year and I had a great time so I am looking forward to today's events. I went to the base's bowling alley for breakfast today and it was not good. Joe......thank you for this great reminder about the Special Olympics. Your volunteerism is admirable. This organization and the participating athletes need all of the volunteered help they can get (just a little time). The more volunteers, the smoother the competition goes. Everyone goes home a winner.
Way back when and before I got sidetracked with the job, marriage, and family responsibilities I decided to take my neice and nephew along to one of these. My Dad gave me the idea.
My niece and nephew both had a misconception and an attitude issue about the hand which life had dealt them. Neither of them had a clue about the challenges some other kids face or the opportunities others don't have. They lived in their insulated and safe world. And they were spoiled.
My Dad realized this, and as he was accustomed to do, he decided that in his capacity as king that he would send one of his indentured foot soldiers (me) on a mission to do something about my niece and nephew, his grandkids. So I have my Dad to thank for pointing me in the right direction.
When we arrived at the Olympics I made sure my neice and nephew separated themselves from me and had them go off with one of the organizers to help in whatever way asked. After it was over and on the ride home, my niece and nephew both sat stunned and in total silence in the back seat on the ride back home. Shellshocked. Like they had both just witnessed a cataclysmic event. The truth is, it was earthshattering for them. No lectures from me were required, just a question: "What did you learn today?"
And what did I learn from this, from my Dad?
Our kids and grandkids learn from what they see, what we let them experience, what we teach them. Kids are handicapped by what little they hear from their friends, see on TV and the internet, or what they experience in their narrow and small, protected world.
It's time I make time. I need to to get myself back on track, grab my granddaughter, and get hooked up with one of these Special Olymics events.

John, I guess 3.29 per gallon is high for you. It's all relative. What part of the West Coast did you hear has the radiation problem with milk. I haven't heard anything in Southern California yet.
Might have get together tonight with friends and run trains after garage cools off. This hot weather is only suppose to be for a day or two and then back to a more seasonal low to mid seventies.

To trainddod and the dog owners out there. Up here in New England the ticks apparently did not get the memo about the cold temperatures and the snow. They are already taking in a ride on dogs and people and are grabbing a quick meal.
Tick's can carry and pass on to dogs and people a few diseases, the least of which is Lyme disease. Within the past week two different friends of ours noted they discovered ticks on their dogs and themselves after a romp outdoors......this after nothing since late fall. One of the dogs became lethargic and lost its appetite. After an examination, the vet suspected Lyme; but the test came back negative. The vet is now testing for other tick-borne diseases.
Break out the flea and tick preventatives now and apply it to your pups. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I am looking at the weather forecast like LAZ is, with a positive slant. A powerful "Noreaster" is on tap for the next 24 hours with accompanying high winds, rain, and snow. Forecast closest to me is for mostly rain but with a couple of inches of the white stuff near the coast, but a 6"-12" coating of very heavy white stuff just West and North of me, starting tonight.....with possible power outages. This should be it for the 2010-2011 Winter.
The meteorologists' Winter storm warnings this morning continue to totally dominate the news....after already barraging us (picture military carpetbombing) about the impending storm constantly over the past three days. 3 separate weather segments alone during the 11PM news last night. Who wants that much weather coverage? Who needs that much weather coverage? Just give me the Cliff's Notes version, then get on with the real (bad) news.
Isn't this New England? Isn't this comparable to a Florida meteorologist excitingly carrying on about another day of sunshine. "Yes, we get snow here in New England as late as April.... but your point is?" This stuff is NOT news, at least to those of us that live in the Northeast.
The local news this morning also ran a segment about serious vitamin D deficiencies in Americans, that 30% of us have this deficiency. The reporter went on say "experts" recommend we get out in the sun more often!!!! Wonder what the oncologists have to say about this revelation and advice since the reporter made no mention of melanoma and sunscreen. Let's see, osteoporosis versus melanoma. What should I do?
In the news media's defense, I suppose they must have run out of news because nothing else of import is going on internationally, nationally, or locally at this moment that just might supercede this segment in importance, except the () New England snowstorm. The network had some time gaps to fill. Cleverly, they dust off a previous story on the dangers of sun exposure and then drone on in the exact opposite direction to shock us. "What?!? I need to get out in the sun more? I thought they have been hammering us about the dangers of.......I've got to warn my wife about this!"
The BBC does not cover news events in this superficial, repetitive ad nauseum, senasationalized fashion.
I am going to run out now, gas up the cars, fill up the gas can (for the snowblower), and stock up with 3 months of provisions (classic NE reaction) just in case this snow keeps me housebound for three hours or a six pack of beer, whichever is longer.

PS: The newsmen just informed us that the Taxachusetts cities and town' (politicians') snow budgets are deep in the red, funded up front for just half of our annual average snowfall. Another news shocker!!!!

dougnotta- That Mac-26 is a foot shorter than my Hunter, but it is a trailer-sailor, which means you have to flood the reservoir tanks for ballast (a possible cause). There are pics taken by a concerned passing boater, which shows the actual boat listing badly... Wifey couldn't believe they had 10 people crammed in that cockpit.
