Big doins in lovly Lakewood this am. Four police officers shot while executing a warrent this am. Couple blocks from my house, got news hellicopters hovering all morning. Good news is all the cops survived and its looking like fairly minor injuries. Two shot in the chest(both had vests) one shot in the foot and one shot in the head and for some reason the bullet didn't penetate his skull, it deflected and exited the side of his head( entered front forehead). That man had an angel on his shoulder! Bad guy was also shot several times but unfortunatly also survived. Eveidently they entered the home and were heading for the second floor when the guy started shooting down on them from above. We lost an officer just two years ago while responding to a call a deer jumped in front of his car , hit a tree and was killed instantly. Probably would have never known what happened if the camera on the car hadn't been on. but it was on cause he was on a call with lights andsiren going. Just heard the guy that was hit in the head is awake and comunicating with family and doctors, even joking around. Hes one lucky guy. Just reported it was a 357 the bad guy was using.

Morning all, good news!  I passed a kidney stone last night so it is highly probable that that is what caused the color in my urine.  Have to report to doctor though as I still have'nt heard anything about the test they did.

Off to get a haircut now before it gets hot.

Later, Ray

Up early and took Lucy to groomers in neighboring town [18 miles away].  Back with neighbor to finish most of the house [left some in the back where shrubs are going to be cut back].  Rushed back to get Lucy [pretty girl].  Put up equipment.  Shaved and hit the shower.  Dress in tie for Open House at new Dialysis Center.  Yes Roseyville is moving up in the world.  Big center and training center too.  Now at Town Hall signing documents.

Back home to get things ready for trip to the lake.  Sure grass needs mowing with all the rain they have had.  BTW: we ended up with 2.1".

Going to Hunters Haven here in town and purchase the Henry Golden Boy in .22Mag.  Got a .17 bolt action.  Henry made rifles for the early "west".  It was a great lever action that was very accurate.  It had a yellow brass receiver [the part that meets the stock between the barrel] and thus the Golden Boy.   I have a rare Winchester lever action .22Mag.  Love it.  It is one that the whole trigger mechanism drops down with the lever.  Thus, it has side ejection and not top like most Winchester lever actions do.  It is a very accurate.

Better get out the door or I will never make it [visitors and more visitors].

Later.

Fifedog - I received a letter from WB&A to join. Do you belong? What do you think about them? Where are the 2 meets (Feb. & Dec.) and 2 mini-meets (June & Nov.) held? Train Races??

Henry rifles are heavily advertised on RFD-TV. Haven't seen one in person but they sound like quality rifles. My Remington 40 Yr. old 30-06 still doing a fine job.

Banks - We need an AMTMA (for toy train birthday parties) here in our neck of the woods.

Mike - I think the Tartis rocking involved Don's neighbor and some sort of vertical swing-around pole.Evil

Steve W - Those were Good News/Bad News stories, but interesting. TGFV (Thank God For Vests)!

Hey y'all, from Bowling Green Ky. tonight.  Caught up with the rainy grey weather we had yesterday in Sedalia.

I ran across an article about the ammunition shortage here in the U.S.  Chief's recent purchases might explain some of it Whistling.

Stopped by the Train Haus just west of St Louis on the way through.  Nothing there I just had to have.  They did have a Williams Texas Special on display.  Didn't look too bad.  No B unit, though.

Sorry Jim, our travel plans were not defined enough to try and see you on the way through.  One of these days.....

Just 10 hours to Orlando tomorrow.

Later, y'all.

Hey Bill - you have a safe trip!  We've stopped in the Train Haus a couple times, but never bought from them.  Today I was escorting my wife from one examination to another - she had a heart test, a lung test, and then finished with 12 vials of blood for the labs.  They said she should eat a lot of protien to feel better, so I took her and the kids to the Texas Roadhouse.  Finished the George Stephenson book - very interesting!  He was a real character and really did usher in the Railway, even if he didn't invent everything himself.  He built the first really useful engines!

Tardis roadtrip to Blueberry Hill - I'm up for it!  Let's get the party rolling, Rich can tweak the stabilizers so we don't keep swaying back and forth Laugh

Prayers for all in need!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good morning all,

It is rainy again in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s.Woo-hoo, Tardis party at Blueberryhill's place for Elvis sighting!  Sounds like a good time will be had by all.  Will definitely have to detour to Roseyville to pick up the Chief as well.  Unlike the other night, there will be no discussion on the big screen viewing tonight.  It is "Dollhouse" with Elisha Dushku.  I do believe she puts them all on the trailer, including Don's neighbor.

Ok, back to reality or some semblance to it.  "My" soccer girls' game was postponed due to weather, but the boys had theirs in the rain and lost 2-0 to a very good team.  After that I did wieghts and some treadmill at the YMCA.  I also read some of the November CTT.  The article on postwar sets was very good.

The big news is that there is a toad in the backyard.  The "saucy wench" found it when she got home from work.  She took a couple of pictures and called me.  I asked her to put a recycling bin over it so I could see it when I got home.  Now I am worried that I will hit it with the mower, but for the first time in a long time, we have a cold blooded vertebrate in the back yard.  Talk about a diverse ecosystem!  Cool!

I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it to "Points West".  As implied from above, TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Goooooooood FRIDAY Morning......

Up into the mid to high 80’s again today already humid Banged Head.  Should be dry until next Thursday.  The weather prognosticator says 20-30% chance of rain throughout the week.

Chief – should be boxing up the CPI car for shipment Monday.

Nothing really new here – work has been crazy, we replaced the screen on the back porch last weekend (90 X 100), cleaned up the train room again.

I will be getting stuff together for the train show & sale in Deland on the 3rd.  Need to get it all together and get it inventoried and priced.  Mostly MTH stuff.  It’s nice but too finicky for my tastes.  This should be the last of the Train Works stuff.  Then it’s onto the LGB stuff I have from one of my customers.  Need to make a booklet of it all, e-bay price it and get that sold.  That will be a cash deal for me, as I have no G gauge stuff (or the room for it).

More drama from the Princess – I’ll be glad when she’s 21 – maybe it’ll be calmer but I doubt it.  Dance is going well, I met here at Mickey D’s yesterday – she had lunch with her friends after school, which was fine.  Just need to catch up on the Homework – which she’ll do Saturday.

Getting ready for Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando on the 25th, we have a suite outside of Universal and tickets in hand...can’t wait.

Angel for those that need ‘em – I’m loosing my mind so sorry if I missed some o’youse.

See ya inna while.

I had to work last night, but it was a very easy shift. When I checked my school email after I got home, I learned that my only class today was cancelled.Yeah!! So, I stayed up late playing the Forza 3 demo. That is going to be an amazing racing game. I am in the top 6% of the online players, but I need to take my lap time from 1:13 down to about 1:03 to advance. I am using the MS wheel for the moment, but I'll dump it when I have the $350 saved up for the far superior wheel made by Fanatec. I need to get more work done on the layout as well.

Good Morning!

Sorry it took me a while to get back on here, seems like the summer down here keeps me almost as busy as a one arm wall paper hanger doing the Empire State building. Trying to find a dentist with the health insurance I have is extremely difficult, found one about 30 miles from the house that takes my insurance.

Stuff has been breaking down, examples; riding lawn mower needed new battery, air conditioner quit last friday-the large capacitor went out(called a friend in Orlando FL, an AC repair guy and he told me what to check before calling out a repair guy.) Wife's car started leaking coolant last week, can't find leak right now, will have try to locate leak during daylight hours, when I can see and put the pressure tester on the cooling system.

Trying to get ready for train show on October 10th in Pompano Beach, FL. Going to try selling some Fastrac that I got from a friend of mine almost a year ago, also some post war Lehigh Valley quad hoppers.

Also heard about a new train show in December at the National Guard Armory in West Palm Beach FL, it is on Gun Club Rd.

At work lately it seems that even the FL Turnpike is affected by the super long recession(why not just say the REAL WORD, DEPRESSION!!). The Labor Day weekend was very low as far as traffic went on the Turnpike. My plaza may lay-off a couple of collectors if the traffic don't pick-up again before the new year.

One or two things that I have noticed here in south Florida is that businesses continue to close; restaraunts, copy centers(place where you go to get photo-copies of stuff made), even hobby shops. If they don't close they quit carrying a full inventory, sometimes just a bare minimum to stay open. Hopefully the econmy will pick-up over the next year or I might be laid-off. Even though you do a good job, right now that don't matter, it is a budget cut and not anything that you have done.

Wish I could say some more positive stuff but at least I have a job.

Good Morning!

Another busy week!  Very little train time, ugh Disapprove.  Some activity in neighborhood, I think the local PD has the neighbors house on a routine patrol.  Sure don't know what is going on there but 4 or 5 patrol cars show up at least once a week.  Maybe a result of excessive Tardis song and dance??

Fires getting to be old news here, sounds like the big Station fire will be under control this weekend, then this morning in the LA Harbor a refinery was on fire for awhile, but they got that one under control in about half an hour.

Did have that dreaded probing camera test earlier this week, had difficult time with all the prep stuff just too much liquid.  But, its over.  Dr. thinks should be on a 5 year schedule due to family background.

Looking forward to this weekend, work 1/2 day both Sat & Sun, then plan on working the Exchange car pictures.  And probably just kick back and relax.

Hope everyone has a great day and weekend, Angel for those in need.

Later

The drama continues here in Lakewood. Yesterday morn. while half the county, local and some state and fed. law enforcement assets were a few hunded yards away at the shooting sene, a couple of knuckelheads walked into Investors Savings Bank on rt. 70 and pulled a butch cassidy deal with a guy vaulting the teller counter (gun in other hand) and robbing the bank! I doubht they knew how many cops were one block away but they managed to get away on foot. My wifes bank where  she is a teller is one block down the road on 70 so they were informed by the police right away. You can't make this stuff up. The officer that was hit in the head yesterday is continuing to get better, so thats good......Steve

Dbaker, glad you survived the camera thing.  I have one coming up in January.  You're right, the drinking all that prep stuff is the worse part.  I have had several of those things over the years.  I would'nt be surprised if that is what caused my colon problem but how could you prove it?  All that poking around sometimes causes collacteral damage.

I'm going to the TCA Western Div. meet this coming Saturday.  Might try to dig out something to sell.

My aunt Martha was laid to rest this week back in Virginia.  Wish I could have been there but it was'nt in the cards.

My ACL E6 units are in the shop waiting for parts to come from MTH I guess.  Whole thing takes a while.

Be glad when the hot weather is over.  Did not go to the fair this year for that reason.  Friend of mine belongs to the outdoor Garden Railroad Group over there.  I'm sure he's tired of the hot weather by now.

Sir James, that reminds me of a song by Tom T. Aaaaah Good ol' baloney. I was a junior in collage on our 1st wedding anniversary, in debt, broke, tired of studying. My wife, a marvel in the kitchen, fried up baloney with double backed potatos for our anniversery dinner. It was great! I still remember it 49years later.
