Good talk with Sir James this morning, solving the problems of the world!  Watched Silent Hill, which I bought used a while ago.  Creepy and gross, I liked it!  Chewy just had some leftover pizza for lunch.  Gonna go mess around in the basement.  Feels like another storm is coming and per the weather, it is - great.  Wish I could send some of this rain to NC or FL for instance!

Afternoon all. Served as video director at a great church service today - 8 songs, 3 video elements, lots of prayer times for vets and families. Grey and cool here - what the heck. Bride is worried it will rain before she plants flowers in pots. I stay away from planting because I usually kill things that are green. I am a big fan of ivy-type weeds that cover everything and are tough to kill. I had much fun building part of a coaling platform last evening and weathering the K. Polak Coal Co. 'troublesome trucks.'

Good Afternoon everyone!

Had a good church service this morning.  I was supposed to be off regarding the production team, but had to do lights.  Actually, I like it better behind the light board, more comfortable with a big table in front of you.  We have a "Luau" tonight, but not sure we will make it.  The headache is gone, but I am tired.

Had a little chat with a deputy this afternoon as on the way home, a guy passed me across the double yellow, spead up to 20mph over speed limit, went to end of block and didn't signal his turn.  Sheriff was going to have a little "chat" with him.

Plan to have a little train time this afternoon.  Hope everyone has a great day and a blessed week ahead.  Please remember the vets.

God Bless,

dennis

Yep Brutus and I got everything solved except the price of gas, so I'm afraid all we can do is bend over and drop em. Well two of the three kids showed up for leftovers and my SIL brought his mother to visit. She had never seen my train room. She was actually impressed, how bout that. we are having a beautiful day I hope you are too....S.J.

Evening all from Beautiful Southern Ohio

Gas $4.19 diesel $4.79 Shock [:O]

Working night shift.  Got the jobs passed out and checking in on the pot.  Did a little reading on the new CTT.  Some handsome folks grace the pages.

I received this and thought I'd share it with you all

Lesson 1:

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.
The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.'
'Me first! Me first!' says the admin clerk. 'I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'
Puff! She's gone.

'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. 'I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.'

Puff! He's gone.

'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, 'I want those two back in the office after
lunch.'

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing.

A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'
The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.'

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Take care, I'll check back in later

May God bless

Jim

Big storms killed my projects for the day - did get to put up a sheet of drywall, but didn't have any more screws and didn't feel like going out in the rain.  There was a break in the storms and did get to run trains for a while, but they came back.  No Pile-Ups!  Had a couple Sam Adams for Doug and Laz, since they weren't here.  Testing the battery on the laptop now - so far so good!  Wife and kiddos come home tomorrow, then going to my folks house for dinner.  Hey, I can hang out at the Kirkwood Hobby Station store while I wait for that Amtrak train to pull in!  Thumbs Up [tup]

Hope all had a great weekend and that tomorrow is even better, God bless!

Good Morning to All,

It was a beautiful day in South Central PA yesterday. More of the same forecast for today.  Uneventful trip to DC and back yesterday.  Great graduation party with lots of cold beverages and great food.  Pulled pork from a local outfit, smoked chicken from a retired farmer who will cook chickens or a whole hog, and great ribs from Sam's in State College.  Best food I've had in a good while. Sat outside talking until nearly dark when the mosquitoes started to get us.  Came home, fed the dog and then watched the end of the NASCAR race, that #9 has been on a rampage the last two weeks. Junior and the #24 made out pretty well staying out, wound up 4th and 5th. Tony Stewart wouldn't have any luck if it weren't for the bad luck.

Probably head to my sister and BIL's around 11:00.  Will probably take the dog along so she doesn't have to stay home alone again all day today.

Have a great day folks.

Mitch

Morning, good coffee!  No sinus problems today, but took a Claritan D to keep on top of it.  Don't want a sinus infection.  I stayed up late watching Tombs of the Blind Dead.  Wife comes home today, so no more scary movies for a while.  Therefore, I'm now watching The Frighteners - Directors Cut!  While making this movie, Jackson's effects company went from 1 to 30 plus computers.  When it was done, he tried to think of a new movie that would require a lot of special effects - that's when he started on the Lord of the Rings movies!  Just FYI.

BTW - Tombs of the Blind Dead features an old steam train and it looks to me like it was really in regular service at least when they made this one.  It is a Spanish movie - I'm going to try and research it and find out what train was used etc.  This was a low budget movie and I seriously doubt they brought in a train or any Hollywood stuff.

Finally remembered where all my drywall screws went.  I had a few boxes of them, but a couple years ago my friend Dave needed to finish his basement ASAP so they could sell the house as they already had a contract on a new construction and the builder was way ahead of schedule.  I took them with me when I went to help and I now remember we even had to go out and buy more!  So, I need to hit the hardware store too.  I love the hardware store almost as much as a train store!

Will be back later.

Morning all. Lotsa storms overnight - supposed to storm more later today and temps crash tomorrow - sigh. Sunny now though. Thought of Laz, had a fire last eve before the rain. Hope the tornado victims almost immediately due west of us near Waterloo, IA are OK today.

Coal platforms taking shape - amazing what one can do with wooden 'coffee stirrer' sticks.

Bride has a day full of unexciting activities - flower buying and planting (why? I will kill them inadvertently somehow), shopping (with what $), cleaning house again (for old friends who won't notice anyway). At least I get to try the grill tonight.

Brutus, hurry up and start cleaning up all the empty bottles and pizza boxes we left before your family comes home early ;)

Good Morning from the Heartlands -- special thanks to our Vets for your service!

Heavy hearts in north east Iowa where a mile wide tornado leveled most of a town of about 1800 and 7 killed. Our oldest son and family live about 20 miles from there in Cedar Falls, thank goodness for advanced warning as most folks were in their basements. The live feeds we are seeing are incredible, houses and schools absolutely flattened, very sad.

Much to be thankful for today.

Jon

GOOD MORNING ALL

I woke up about 8am and it had not rained so old james went out and got the grass cut. The sun is shining and going to 80. May not be good as storms expected later and as we know the heat will make them worse. Next door neighbor got a new gas trimmer he could not start, so old james took care of that and gave him some quick pointers. My wife is making potato salad for me so could be she want's something. I'll just have to wait it out. Brutus sorry about the mess we made but at least Chewy will clean the dishes. EVERYONE HAVE a SAFE DAY and enjoy.

Thank You to All the Vets, and those that we can only remember in our thoughts.   S.J.

Good Morning all from overcast Southern Ohio

Hats off to all vets, policemen, firemen, EMTs and any other profession that requires an individual to put there own personal safety in danger to serve another.

I guess that would include school teachers.

Jim - Well said! Even the nod to Mitch and Laz!

Cloudy and warm here. Low 90's today.

Taking it easy and may go see a movie today. The better half says she wants to go to Indianna Jones, so who am I to argue with that?

Prayers for those in tornado ravaged Iowa, Minnesota, etc.

Have a great day all!

Good evening all,

It has been a wild two days here in SE Indiana, but at least IIABSDISEI yesterday as the sun shone on the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing".  The unification seems to have drawn a very big crowd as there was traffic where there normally is not on the way into the track, and the crowds around the gates were much bigger.  The race was interesting to say the least.  For a few brief laps it looked as if one of the "good guys" (Vitor Meira) would win, but in the end, Team Red was just too strong.  Sarah Fisher and AJ IV had days they would like to forget and Manning did AJ's team proud with a 9th place showing.  The race was very long due to all the wrecks but the drive out of the track was not bad.  I was going to do a lot at home today but intestinal woes laid me out most of the day.  I did run the 384E and then put the downstairs layout up until after the graduation.

We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast both days on the dining car.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hey guys, well the family made it home on Amtrak.  Lightening hit the tracks out near Jefferson City, MO so they slowed the train to 15 MPH until the switches could be certified, which added about 2 hours to the trip.  They said they did like it, but wife wishes she had upgraded to business class for the nicer chairs.  I hung out at my folks house for a while, then hit the Kirkwood Hobby Station train store about 2 blocks from the actual station.

Doug Murphy, I sent you an email.  They have a book there called Buses, Trolleys and Trams.  It is an old book and they had it sealed in plastic, so I couldn't comment on the contents.  If you are interested, let me know.  I think it was like $20.  I bought a few magazines and a model kit of a house where you make a cardboard form and then glue all these bricks together to make a little cottage.  It's 1/50th scale and looks really cool.

Then, we went to Lowes and I bought a giant tub of drywall screws, fine threaded, with a note saying these are prefered for metal stud construction.  Hope they work, since i have about a million of them now!  I'll bet I end up buying more before I'm done though!

Had some brisket at my folks house and now I'm stuffed.  Maybe room for some banilla later?  I'll see if I can still get through the door of the TARDIS in a little while Wink [;)]

Evening all.  Busy day.  Did some adjusting to airrifle scope with new gun "holder".  Zeroed better and no squirrels around to test it. Sad [:(]

Been working on the upgrade kits to the GP9's.  Arranging things a little different from the diagram.  Think I might order coil couplers next.  Keep getting interrupted.  Forgot I had not posted. Left out early to check pond and do some shopping.

I wish yuz giz would do some chatting with Buckeye and Chuck.  Then they would not have to quote back and forth with each other.Whistling [:-^]

I'm here.

Brutus Mayhaps you should bring them with you. See if Chuck has some cupcakes. We had a great day weather wise, 5pm they said we tied old record of 85 and an hour later it was new record of 87. After cutting the grass I did a few small chores and then sat on the porch with my CTT(still have not read OGR). I think I am losing my attention span as I read awhile and get bored. No fault of the mag. I think maybe just been reading them for too many years. The next door neighbor bought a new weedwacker and could not start it, so got that going for him, gave him a few nuggets of advice and wished him luck..Well guys I'm waiting,,,,,,S.J.

Brutus sign me up!  Sir James always has the best leftovers!

Well, I'm finally running trains!  It's been a month of wiring, but I was able to run them today!  Now I need to connect the control panel and switch wires.

Impromptu dinner with friends, and Bride decided we needed an outdoor fireplace...today.  She must be reading Laz's posts.  Finally ended up at one from Target.  Flagstone raised up off the ground.  Was helping move the box into the truck, and a strap broke, and the metal connector tore open 2 of my fingers.  Ouch.  Bathed in peroxide, and bandaged them up.  Neighbor is a nurse, said I didn't need stitches, but was a bit concerned that my last tetnis shot was only 8-years ago...

Saw neighbors on the way home, and they helped off load the fireplace...turns out he has Lionel trains, and wants to come to a few shows, and run trains at the house!

On the way over!!!  Did get to read some of my CTT.  I think it is one of the best issue I've seen.  Some good stuff in there.  Think I will work on my upgrade while eating Pig Pickn Cake. Dinner [dinner]

OH Dennis, got new Grandson.  Was delivered yesterday.  His name is Ming [since he is of Chinese background].  Frankie said he slept all night without whinng and did not have any accidents on the floor.  Yes, it is a puppy to replace Sheriff.
