Who told? Probably the same limo driver who blabbed to Jack.

Got my MTH water column today - what a neat accessory - didn't know it moved - almost came out with a armfull of other things - just bought a 1:43 Shelby Cobra for the middle boy. Geez, gas is all of a sudden $4.20.

Doug - is the water column animated, or just move by hand or?  I think I saw a picture of that the other day, but no details at all.  I've got a line on a 70 mm tall diecast TARDIS for the layout, LOL!  I think that would be about O gauge based on some pictures I've seen online.  It looks to me like the thing is more than 8 feet tall including the little flasher on top.  Of course, now that Laz installed that Glasspack, it doesn't have that same wheezing pipe-organ sound Laugh [(-D]  Nice thing about the TARDIS - it's bigger on the inside than on the outside!  Do you know that Dr. Who first went on the air in England the year I was born?!  Also, some of the best writers on the show back in the day also did another great tv show - The Avengers!   Hmmm, maybe we could all pop over to England and pick up Emma Peel, Felicity Kendal and Penelope Keith?  Hmmm, wives would not understand, I'll bet....  Oh well, pick up Nick and John?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 48 degrees. Going up to 68 today with a lot of sunshine.

Today is busy. I need to run a few errands and then start the grass mowing. I think I will spread it out over 2 days. It's easier that way. Should be good weather all weekend. Got a lot of things done outside, yesterday. Cleaned up some areas around the shed. Looks good.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Cheerios.

Y'all have a great Friday.  TGIF

Chief - I will keep You and your Mom in prayers.

Buckeye - Since I wont be receiving a copy of the latest CTT being in Ohio and all. The next time you are up towards Berea maybe I could get a look at your illegal copy. Also are you going to be working on one of the three grade seperation projects 1 CSX & NS, Front St Berea ; 2 CSX, Engle & Eastland Berea,Brookparkand and Middleburg Heights; 3 CSX (ex B&O Cleveland sub) Snow Rd. Middleburg Heights. Next time your up this way let me know, I could always meet you for a cold pop and or a layout tour.

That goes for anyone on this forum, if your in the area let me know. Ive also been known to pick up friend's from the airport and grab a cold pop and a bite to eat if they have a long layover. Cle airport is only 10 min. away from me.

Looks to be a bright sunny holiday weekend. Its about time. Will hit the rib cook off for dinner later today after I cut the grass and have lunch with my son at the Station in Berea. Should be a good day for train watching. Later all its time for breakfast.

Jason....I worked on Front Street six years ago.  I knew about the other project, but I'm not working on that type of project.  Send me an email, and I will send you a copy of a project photo that I think you would like for your train room wall.  It is one of a kind.

I will try to remember my bootlegged illicit copy of CTT to show you. Wink [;)]

Good morning all,

It is cloudy, rainy and cool in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Great day for a work-related cookout...not!  Maybe they will cancel it (I wish)!  Did weights at the YMCA, and watched "Deal or No Deal" as well.  Read some of my July CTT and did some Second Life also.  Edged the sidewalks, too.  Sarah Fisher picked up a primary sponsor for her #67 car for the race, which was good news.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all. Cool and grey here today - hasn't cracked 70 in weeks. Where'd you find an O scale Tardis, Brutus?  I was in Walmart in Woodstock, IL yesterday and missed those batmobiles, Kurt!

The water column is manually operated: it spins completely around - moves up and down vertically. And is adjustable in height too. with a nice complicated looking series of little working pulleys, and a little chain. All metal too.

Got my CTT too - what a handsome collection of Legacy-toting forumites... ;)

Good Morning -

WOW have we had some weather!  We got it all in one day, actually a few hours.  Got the whole years supply at once.  Now when you talk about variation - Started off partly cloudy, then the wind picked up.  Within a 70 mile radius we had: 1 fire, snow fall, 2 tornados, hail, downpour of rain, mudslides.  Only thing missing is a reportable earthquake.  A couple of pictures;

Two Tornadoes, about 30 miles east of us, minimial damage no one hurt.

Train cars turned over as a result of tornado and high winds, Chief these tracks are along the road you took when you went to San Diego from Palm Springs.  (Just south of the airbase)  The cars are all box cars and were parked on a siding, 8 cars)

The winds have been very high everywhere,  in my area probably only about 40.

Then throw a little snow in, Big Bear, about 40 miles north of train derailment.

Then add some heavy rain, it was raining an inch in 10 minutes, so everything immediately flooded, and couldn't drain quick enough.  This is about 5 miles north of us.

And of course with the rain we get mudslides.  These are about 20 miles east of us, same place where the fires where last fall.

Below is a very popular steak house, we go to.  This shot is of a patio area.  People were having lunch, and heard the rumble, and a wall of mud and debris came down the canyon.  They all headed to the street and where joined shortly by the tables and carts from the patio.  Mud entered the building and was 8" deep.

A number of buildings have had the roof cave in as a result of the water.

Now here is the bad part!  Suppose to have a reoccurrance of the same thing today!

Wife and Chris are in Sandy Eggo, and will be coming back today, they should be driving back in the early afternoon, and all this weather is about 20 to 30 miles inland, and they will be coming along the coast line.  So hopefully they will miss it.

Good Morning Guys,

Another beautiful start weatherwise here in NE Taxachussetts, 58 now and 64 for a high today with rain (again) late this afternoon and early evening.  A big salute to all the veterans and their families out there, past and present, whose sacrifices make possible all of the freedoms we enjoy today.  And prayers for the safety of our men and women currently serving for a safe tour and return home.  Bow [bow]

Chuck and all....you guys made me feel guilty with all that lawn mowing chat, so I shocked myself and knocked off half of it yesterday afternoon, in the rain. Had to do some post mowing wheel maintenance on the mower after the wheels found some fresh, squishy, and odoriferous presents from the dogs strategically hidden in the grass.

Chief.....my continued thoughts and prayers to the THE CHIEF KAHUNA to give you strength and to provide your Mom with good health.

Sir James....was glad to hear you are feeling better. Thumbs Up [tup]  For me that Nyquil is one product that helps control my symptoms at night so I can get some quality sleep.  Great stuff.....straight up or on the rocks.

Jason....read your post about a "cold pop."  Folks in my neck of the woods take that one way:  cold beer.  They interpret soft drinks as soda.  I interpret soda as a carbonated clear beverage that one adds to a certain distilled spirit.  It's been 20 years since moving here, but I have been unsuccessful in correcting their incorrect use of American English.  Still can't understand what they are saying half the time.  Banged Head [banghead]

Dennis....as a Steven Spielberg (sp?) type, you will be glad to know that I have charged all primary and secondary camera batteries for upcoming family trip to Disney.  Packed chargers.  Downloaded existing pictures and cleared memory on digital camera and packed instruction manual (just in case).  Packed extra High 8 tapes and instruction manual (just in case).  Video camera a 10 year old Sony and is still serving us well, even though no one ever wants to take an evening to kick back and watch ANY of the home videos they insisted I take.  When I pass on, no one in future generations will know who I was because I was always behind the cameras, not in front of them.  "Who is that guy?"  "That's your father, dear."  "Oh yeah."

Lee, Rich, Roy, and Don....when I read your posts about the scorching temperatures you guys have in May, it makes me feel fortunate about the three seasons a year we enjoy up my way....let's forget about the fourth.  As the Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio contingent have posted recently, the furnace has not quite completed it's annual duties.  The wife seems comfortable with 68 degrees in the home if the calendar says it's Spring.  If it says winter, she wants it cranked to 72.  Go figure.  Banged Head [banghead]

Fuel oil prices per gallon this past heating season were up 20% for me because I locked in to an annual contractual price last August.  Those that rolled the dice on a floating price contract and didn't lock in, up about 40%.  I was criticized by my friends early on when I had locked in at what, at the time, seemed like an exorbitant price.  Not much solace knowing I lost just an arm instead of both an arm and a leg.  You can only turn that thermostat down so low and add so much clothing.  You've got to feel really bad for so many who cannot even afford to heat their homes.

Brutus....you've got to stop posting pictures of your son's scout leader.  I bet scout participation and fatherly support was strong this year.  Big Smile [:D]

Fife.....are you driving Vermont?  Beautiful and relatively unspoiled country year round.  You'll love it.

Rich....re knuckleheads at work, there is an upside.  If exposed, they create a small modicum of job security.  I had a chat with my son on the same topic last night when he came home from work frustrated, told him to never let their standards drag down his standards and to leave the discipline up to the boss.

MikeC....re the rainy weather, Fife toughs it out.  He grills, golfs, mows, and fishes in the rain.  The key is in the optional cup holders.

DougM....first was Rush Street (Chicago) after the symphony.  Now Woodstock.  You are a wild and crazy guy.  Seriously, back in my Chicago youth, we'd drive to Woodstock (IL.) to see what the wilderness and covered wagons were like.  I skipped the reknowned Woodstock, too busy studying. Whistling [:-^]

RT.....hope you don't run out of gas with all of the packing and moving stuff.  The carrot is that train room you will have.  Good luck on the move.

May all of you enjoy the holiday weekend with close family and friends.

Jack

Like Phish says....Don is on verge of Armageddon...Hmmm, time to rethink the weekly church going activities....Whistling [:-^], like restart going every Sunday...

The 'Clown [:o)]' stepped over the line just after the posting (and via e-mail...Dunce [D)]), forwarded it to the boss and went to HR, where I was assured this would be the last time I'll have to put up with this.   Someone is getting a nasty-gram...

Well, it's raining and noon, still buried in paperwork, so that's a good thing.  Will need to get pictures for the corp. internet site b4 6PM.  Should be interesting with the rain...

Jack, I have come to LOVE those times I go Home (NJ) and find the temps very comforable.  I miss diving under the covers at night to keep warm...Summer or Winter (and the 4 Seasons up North?  Spring, Summer, Fall & SNOWSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg])

Good Afternoon everyone.  Was a nice night for the son's graduation.  They did a little skit on the stage and then there was a video presentation of the kids throughout the year.  A little bit of "see where all that money you pay is going" show.  Then the diplomas were issued and we picked up the kids and headed out for Ice Cream Shakes.  It was a good time.

On a very sad note, I read where Steven Curtis Chapman, the singer, lost his 5 year old daughter.  We are in a group of folks who have adopted children from China.  The Chapmans have adopted several and it turns out that his 17 year old son was backing out of the driveway and hit the 5 year old.  I know they will get through it, but the pain must be tremendous.

Chief, hope things are settling in place regarding Mom.  Sorry you are all having to go through this, but be strong.  Will keep you in our prayers.

Still no CTT in these parts.  I hope my mailman is finished soon.  All you guys have been talking about it and I feel in the dark.  I always look forward to a good read.

Doug, Not sure if you would be interested, but in the June issue of Railroad Model Craftsman, they advertise a book called "Traction Handbook for Model Railroads" by Steven Mallery.  They are selling it for $12.00 plus $6.00 shipping from Carstens Publications.

Well, I hope that everyone has a very happy weekend.  Please remember the Vets who have given us so many freedoms.  Reach out to the vets you know and the current active folks who would just like to know that they are appreciated.

God Bless,

Dennis

Afternoon all.  Grass mowed.  Doug M called.  That was good luck.  4 squirrels died in a row right after his call.  Air rifle with .177 pellets working great today.  One I hit a long ways off for an air rifle.  Got walls to sand and re-paint.  Off to Town Hall to give the squirrels a break.  Shake and Bake, told you over and over, "Don't mess with Mother Nature or the Chief."  You'll learn one day. Just back from my dermatologist. Took 4 bites out of me: back, shoulder, right sideburn, lower left eyelid. First vist in 6 months. Wants to see me in 3.

May get some train time in today as it has been raining off and on all morning. LHS finally was able to send my Cab Forward back to Lionel. Engine quit running, made lots of noise, but nothing else. I even read the directions and nothing helped. Looking forward to getting it back as it is a sweet running machine and the sounds are incredible. Can't wait to try it out with LEGACY.

Prayers to all who need them and especially for those dealing with aging parents. That is always a major challenge as they still think of you as one of their children!!! As Chief discovered, don't wait for offers for help. Ask BEFORE you feel overwhelmed.

Kurt - they don't understand about the 3 Stooges either Tongue [:P]

Hot here today - 94 and 98% humidity I think. Dallas is in a bit of a bowl formed by the Trinity River - when the humidity sets in - takes some major wind from up nawth to move it out - oh Buckeye - where aaarrrreeeee you????

Jack - we have 4 seasons here also - 2 green and 2 brown.

Ready for the long weekend. The kids and work have done me in this week.

New front windows being installed as I write - low e and double pane - should make a big difference as house faces to the west.

RT - good luck on the move.

Don B - try and hold things together out there would ya?

Dennis - finally got my CTT - so they have made it south finally.

Chief - sorry about your mother. These are tough times. The missus and I have lost all our parents as of a few years back and the last 6-9 months for each was pretty tough on the families and them. It has to be really hard to lose one's independence - and if some dementia sets in - the things that can be said are really tough. It was hard to keep the missus convinced that it wasn't the real person you loved saying those things.

Have a great start to the weekend all!

Regards, Roy

Day one of new job, so far so good! Thanks anjdevil2 for the congrats!

Weather is starting to turn ugly like it is going to rain, yesterday's rainstorms had winds up to 45 mph here in West Palm Beach, and a good soaking! Possibly the same today agin only a little later in the day. Hopefully our wildfires are out!

Maybe Amtrac will pick up the slack in the travel industry as the airlines keep pricing themselves out of business, newest thing is baggage fees; $2.00 to $15.00 per checked in bag, and that is for the first bag!!!

No work on trains till maybe monday or tuesday.

Jack - That is exactly how we use the word "pop" here also. The woman folk like us to use words like that around the little ones. They also require "pop" to be in a cup. There will be plenty of "pop" in cups this weekend! Mischief [:-,]

Chief --  I have to echo Roys thoughts re: Mom.  We shephered our parents through their final months, years and it was tough to say the least.  To give up their independence is the hardest, I sincerely hope for me that our sons won't have to go through that process.  Thoughts and prayers with you and your family.

Chief....there seems to be (have been) a disproportionate number of squirrels on your spread lately.  Is it because they look at Chiefs' Chalet as nut Mecca?  Or because of the squirrely atmosphere created by the "chief" proprietor?  Or because they like to peek through the windows each evening to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle reruns while you are reclinerizing?  Laugh [(-D]
