Good Morning everyone.  Was watching the "How It's Made" program and they have several scenes with trains.  Not much, but hey, it's trains.  Have plans to do some wiring on the layout this afternoon.  Have to wait till I pick son up from Chinese lessons.  I am still on call, so I hope for the best, but make no  big plans.

Brutus, wife and I have been talking about making a trip to DC.   We have a lot we would like to take in.  May go with Amtrack for the voyage.

Little advice, when SWMBO is not pleased with your efforts while preparing for a party, don't just sit in front of the TV.  Find something else to do...clean a bathroon, vacuum, or anything.  You don't want the story to be that she did everything...step up and help out in some fashion.

Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless,

Dennis

Good Morning -

Just checkin in, nothing new with Chris, he saw the Dr yesterday.  Still reluctant to remove the tubes.  Going to do another xray on Monday, then make a decision.  I hope its favorable but have a feeling the surgery is imminent.  I'm not worried about the surgery, but unfortunate for Chris his band of buddies are home for a 10 day leave, and of course they had made all kinds of plans.  None of which included much "quiet" time.  And, Monday is his birthday as well.

Me with this dang cold doesn't help, I'm avoiding Chris, but don't really feel much like working in the train room.  And I had a lot planned to do today, havn't even been in there for 10 days, I'm sufferin withdrawals as well.

Morning.  Slept late.  Then cooked red hots and eggs [wife ate too].  Now the sun is trying to peep out.  Was real cloudy and sprinkles earlier.  Got one wall sanded.  Now to do the ones upstairs in guest bedroom.  Got to go find paint for livingroom.  Maybe Miss Edna's but gas is too expensive to just ride and visit.  No luck finding someone for Mom.  Interesting devotional in Upper Room today.

Afternoon folks,

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Lazy day here to day and may break in the pool this evening. Got the new grill ready to go and burgers and dogs like LAZ - with maybe a few Millers (and I am not talking about the neighbors here). Daughter has frinds coming over, so should be a good gathering.

Very warm and very humid again today. Black clouds drifting around, but no rain predicted. That's OK. All you have to do is walk around - the moisture is hangin in the air and you can just collect it as you move along.

Don - take care of your self and Chris! Be careful - we need you guys around for a long time!

Chief and Rosyville - where the squirrels run scared!

They finished the basic install of the two big front windows yesterday evening (6' x 8') - double pane, low e. Can already tell the difference in heat loading to the front of the house. They had to come back today to finish the 2 smaller windows on the front. Also have all the trim and caulking to do.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Fife and Laz - Dr. Who is a sci fi tv show that has been on the air since 1963 in England, although it was cancelled and off the air for a while.  They eventually brought it back and now the new series is on year 4 I think?  Anyway, Dr. Who is an alien who travels all over the universe and throughout all time in the TARDIS, which is a spaceship/time machine.  It's huge on the inside, but the part that shows in the real universe can be any size or shape.  Dr. Who's TARDIS is an early model and really old.  The "chameleon circuit" broke when he first visited earth and it was stuck looking like a "police box" for most of the series.  This is like an oversize phone booth with a flashing light on top.  Occasionally, the good Doctor regenerates and this is a way that they have been able to replace the actors over the years.

Didn't sleep well since wife was away.  Got up early and put in 6 hours at work.  Watching a move I taped off HBO, Idle Hands, and then gonna run trains.  I was going to do all the yard work today, but it decided to rain Sad [:(]

Gonna have some Digiorno's pizza and a couple beers later too!

Dr. Who Tardis Coffee Mug

Still praying for you, Chief.  God bless you and your family!

Jim

Hello guys!

I am not a hunting person but can tell you one thing I know about squirrel hunting and that is from my sister's ex-husband, Don't go using a 12 gauge shot gun on the squirrels as he did, he filled them full of pellets and was extremely difficult to get the pellets out of the squirrel meat.

Another rain storm today, this time just a short shower less than 30 minutes but much needed rain.

May have to wait until tuesday to work on trains. New job going ok so far.

Chief....Sorry I missed your call but I was in high level meetings working on the defense of Ohio from the Roseyville Rascal.

Mrs. Buckeye, after saving our money for five months to buy gas SoapBox [soapbox], went to Holmes County Amish Country today.  Our stops include the Amish Bakeries, Heini's Cheese and Wine, Sugar Creek Train Store, the Flea Market and a furniture store.  Drove home through West Lafayette, the home of the Ohio Central's Locomotive repair facility.

A big salute to all the Veterans and Active Duty near and far that read our forum.

Doug....What type of job is the daughter looking for?  I dug ditches for sewers when I was 16 and for some odd reason I decided that I needed more educaton in digging ditches, so I went to engineering school and now I walk over to the ditch and say, "Man that is deep!" and walk away.  They pay me for this, too, so tell you daugher there is hope.Wink [;)]

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  So far this weekend has not gone anywhere near what was planned.  Went to an early showing of the latest "Narnia" flick.  Very good, very intense.  Came home and younger daughter was in town with grandson.  She was landscaping at her grandmother-in-law's place.  Grandson did not look or sound good.  Wife suggested taking him to an Urgent Care Center.  Turns out he had pneumonia.  Daughter and grandson stayed at our place.  Long night.  Grandson is better.  Did yard work today.  Very tired.  Have to rest and get ready for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" tomorrow.  Weather looks good (warm and dry).  Hopefully one of the good guys will win, but not holding my breath.

I had English muffins and bacon for breakfast on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day (and Sarah Fisher, Darren Manning, Jeff Simmons, AJ IV, Ed Carpenter, Davey Hamilton, Vitor Meira, Buddy Rice, Townsend Bell, John Andretti, Buddy Lazier and even Milka Duno and maybe even Tropical Storn Danica have really good days tomorrow :-) ).

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Brutus you missed a point or two about the good Doctor to be specific he was a Time lord  an alien race that was humanoid with 7 hearts and he had a strange foundness for the human race and earth especialy female traveling companionsBig Smile [:D] But it goes back farther than a tv series It was an old black and white film first kinda a juels vern stely story. There is a modern film as well which to me was a flop it could have been bette. If you go looking for Dr who at a library find the ones staring Tom Baker he was the most popular actor to have played the Doctor.

Other reoccuring  characters are K-9 a robot compainion of the doctor, Davros creator and leader of the Darlakes, The Brigader general, the Cybermen (think of the borg and the tin man mixed together).

I picked up a new tin sign at the flea market in Holmes County today featuring the Chessie Kitten.  I have never seen this particular sign before.

A pleasant evening to All,

Well everybodys gone, happy souls with full bellies. Our three kids have orders from me to return tomorrow and eat some more. I do not want three days of leftovers. Why do they always make so much and then worry that there may not be enough? Everyone left with a groan. I had thoughts about having a  grilling for my birthday next month but I'm not sure granny could handle another big feast so soon. I'm going to think on it. Weather: we had a warm day around 70, with 76 forecast for Sun.&Mon. but storms on Mon. We ran some trains today but with kids going everywhich way not for long. This would be a good nite for the gang to stop by and raid the fridge, heck I'LL even show you where everything is.   TTFN,,,,S.J.

Sir James, I'm on the way.  Chewy has had her fill of pizza (shhhhhh - keep that on the QT from you know who), but I'm sure she would like to lick out of your favorite coffee mug just for old times' sake Laugh [(-D]

CSX - I think Dr. Who only has 2 hearts?  I've seen every single episode up through the big hiatus when the BBC didn't get their "rates" increase and poor Sylvester McCoy found himself out of work.  I know that they made two movies based on the good Doctor, but I've never seen them.  I did see the Canadian produced Dr. Who pilot/movie that did not restart the series years ago.  Somehow, I missed out on the 2005 series, but I've seen both of the newer ones with Tennant!  Tom Baker will always be my favorite!

Battled a headache about half the day.  Sometimes, I just have to lay down and do nothing... today was one of those times.  I am a bit out of it.  I'd like to medicate, but still on call.  Had to check out one of the vacuum cleaners.  Bad belt and I had to order one from Sears.  It says that the part was available at all Sears Stores, but I know better.

Kids and wife watched "Shrek 1&3" tonight.  Funny movies.  I slept through most of them, but caught enough to make me laugh.

HOpe Y'all have a good night.

I am proud of myself today I went to a flea market and found some marx windup trains track and cars as well as a box of transformers. I almost bought the box of transformers because they were 10 % off but they were ratty looking and I only wanted the american flyer  transformer(there were 2 lionel, a marx and a flyer and one ahm ho x-former in the box) I have been more selective lately about bringing home stuff untill I get the benchwork up.

Evening!

Back from seeing Prince Caspian, Narnia Part 2.  Very well done.  Not for the kiddos, a lot of implied violence, and Centaurs, and Minotaurs are a bit freightening.  Shots of the underground train running on 3-rails!

Bride didn't make the 13 miles on rollerblades, made about 6, and thought better to stop...now complaining about all the aches and pains.  This should escallate tomorrow.  I'm happy she gave it a go, and didn't work all weekend for a change.

Tardis is on the way - glad to hear your wife did that well, that's really far on skates!

CSX - I don't remember, what is the only defense agains the cybermen?  Is it water or something?  I remember it was something goofball like that....

Fixed wife's laptop.  Cleaned, defragged, and now virus checking.  Should run a lot faster when it's done.  Trains tomorrow and maybe some drywall.  God bless us, every one!

EDIT: Oh, I spent my OT money on that Kline by Lionel PRR A5 switcher, should be sweet!  Per Lionel schedule, it should now ship out in July...  Can't wait (didn't I say no more preorders?)...

In one episode a race of aliens(non human) had a special wepon called a glitter gun it shot gold dust which fouled up the life support system of the cybermen.

Morning Folks,

Put on a fresh pot. Been up since normal time.  Must be a sign of getting older, you wake up at normal time even without the alarm clock.  I have lots of other symptoms too.  Like the ache in my legs and back from the yardwork yesterday.  Finally finished mulching up the rest of the lilac bush that split in the ice storm in December.  That thing was about 12 to 14 feet tall with some of the bottom branches greater than 8 inches in diameter, I needed the chain saw to cut up the larger hunks.  Ran the chipper shredder for a while. Now my ears are really ringing louder than normal. My son lost (or should I say misplaced) my good noise reduction headphones.  Maybe I'll have him get me a new pair for Father's Day!

The school passed it's final Health Department Inspection.  Those folks are major picky about caulking all the corners and edges, etc. Now all we have to do is light a fire under some of the contractors to finish up their projects so we can get the Final Use and Occupancy permit. Of course they still have not figured out the water pressure deal.  I think we will get permission to start moving in furniture starting some time next week.

Going to DC to pick up our son this afternoon and then going to a graduation party for one of his buddies.  Nice kid who lost his Mom and Step-Mom to br**st cancer in a period of about 5 years.  They have been buddies since pre-K.  His Mom was one of my wife's best friends.  During his Step-Mom's battle with cancer he got a little off track and lost some credits and had to take another year to finish, but we are so glad he finally got himself turned around.

Tomorrow we are going to a cook-out at my sister and BIL's house. Always nice to be with family.

LAZ - How many more days, not that you are counting! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Doug Murphy - glad to hear your little one got to visit his Kindergarten.  What an exciting time for little ones.  I can't wait until we can have our open house at the school.

Have a great day.

Hoping for some wind to fly a kite today...Looks like it's shaping up for a beautiful day.  Hight 80's expected.  3-yo is very excited about going to the parade tomorrow.

Sorry, one more movie plug...Hancock w/ Will Smith looks prettty funny.  Preview shows him stopping a train.

Morning all from Pensacola Fl. Just got back from south Florida visiting inlaws and attending the ground breaking of the new Vets cemetary near Sarasota. My late Father in law will be intered there this fall. Nice cerimony. I wish all my best to all my fellow Vets out there and those who supported us. I also have two daughters serving with the US Marine Corps in CA. Its good to know that there are so many behind them and the tough job they do every day. Have a safe Memorial Day.

It is a sunny 46 degrees. Going up to 76 today with lots of sunshine.

Today is an easy day. Or at least, I hope so. Got all the yard work done and now I can enjoy it. Good day for taking some pictures outside. I think I will sit in the shade for a few hours.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good morning

Bright sun this morning, but storms forecast for tomorrow. Looks like a better day(than tomorrow) to cut grass but I will not do it on Sunday. My old fashion baptist upbringing says thats not a Sunday activity. I'm not preaching, I have no intention of telling others what is right for them. Well the guys stopped by last nite but the fridge is still full so those kids better show up to eat today or I know what this weeks menu will be. Slept good awoke around seven but did not want to get up. So I made coffee and we watched the news, read the paper in bed. To all those planning to burn some food outdoors this weekend have a very pleasent time and enjoy your family. To all our veterans, thanks......S.J.

Morning boys - hmmm, good coffee!  Sinus is draining and another storm has gone through, so much for our sunny days the weather man promised.  New forecast says clear by noon and will continue to have storms and rain from tonight through until Wednesday....  I'll check the lawn in a while and see how wet it is.  I can't mow my hill if it's too wet as there is a tendency to slide to your doom!
