A quick stop by again...I am getting ready to start another case.  This is a good day in that I am now officially off call.  When I finish with this case, I am going home and going to sleep.  Bride has already agreed to keep things quiet around the abode so that I will not be disturbed.. now, if I can only arrange that in the future when it is time to work on the layout and run trains, I'll be in good.

Well, I hope everyone is having a good start to the week.

God Bless,

dennis

Good to wake up at home this morning, I do like being away ocassionally but I really appreciate being home.  Beautiful day on tap here with lots of outdoors chores to catch up on, time to really start thinking about spring and enjoying myself.  I truly enjoy this Monday every year, I'm done with obligations except for our annual convention this Thursday --  Saturday and that just turns into a big 'ol reunion with the best bands in the state performing along with tremendous clinic's.

Time to get busy!

'Morning'!

Saw Iron Man Saturday Night...Awesome! Ripe for a sequel, Robt Downey Jr, the perfect Tony Stark...IF YOU SEE IT..STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS!!! Trust me..you'll be glad you did!!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Sunday, had to go to the "regular" job, just to catch up on work...which s**ked....got home, made a futile attempt to start the "new" weed wacker and failed which just wore me out.  Started doing my e-bay work using the turbo lister, then it crashed, lost all my workBanged Head [banghead], had to redo it all.... Cooked dinner last night, made some nice PREMIO Italian Sausage (from NJ, of course) browned in olive oil, then simmered 2 hours with tomato sauce.  Spaghetti & meatballs.  YUM!! Have lots 'o leftovers, so stop on over.  I'll be here until Wednesday night...

3 more days of work, then the freindly skies to NJ to visit the family, my daughter's boyfreind Prom and a """"surprise"""" 16th birthday party.  I'll see Mom on Mothers Day for the first time in 15 years...it'll be special!!

Coffee Time and more work..

See ya Later!!

Morning all. Beautiful day here too. Great jokes. Better banilla. Good decision about the band-saw, Roy. Think of the money you're saving for more trains.

Morning all. Cloudy and rain predicted for the next 3 days.

Repeat of what I posted in the Lionel BAnkruptcy exit post...

Good article today in the Wall Street Journal (B-4) re Lionel's exit from backruptcy. Gives details of who owns what. Neil is back in as is Kughn according to the article.

The down side is the photo WSJ used of "One of Lionel's model locomotives" ain't even close. The photo is of an HO scale model in a paint scheme somewhat similar to Santa Fe. Why would a paper like the WSJ run a photo of something they cannot attribute to the article's subject - oh wait - didn't they lose a couple of reporters on that a few years back?

Hope everyone's day is going well!

Regards, Roy

Afternoon all. What a day. Banged Head [banghead] Got to work at 10:30pm Sunday for the start of my work week. Get down to our meeting area for job asignments and my boss says what are you dooing here. Turns out I was added to the layoff list Friday at 4:30pm. My work week ends at 6:30am Friday. No phone call, no nothing Friday or Saturday. That just burns me up! Censored [censored]So I was back home by 11:30pm. Wife was in bed already, didnt want to wake her up and tell her what was up so I slept on the couch. And wouldnt you know it the funnace got stuck in a heat cycly. It was 84 deg. in the house. So she wakes up at 3:30am because she is hot. Figures she will go downstairs and see whats up with the thermostat. I hear her coming down the stairs,And I think to my self I better let her Know Iam hear or she is going to freak out. Didnt work as soon as I said her name she jumped and screamed like you would not beleive. Then of course she think's I fell asleep on the couch before work and never went in. So I had to tell her the bad news, and then tell her to go back to bed and get some more rest. This morning I call to start the process for unemployment, and of course I have no paperwork. They want to know if its a mass layoff. That info would be on the paperwork that I did not receive yet. So I call the employment office at work the girl is on sick leave and no is there to answer my questions so I can file for unemployment. The only answer I could get is its in the mail. Finally figured it all out about an hour ago and just got off the phone with the unemployment office, glad that is all done. You know how they say bad things come in three's the tv quit this afternoon. At least its warm out so I can play outside with the kids. And I can always go in the basement to mess with the trains. And the furnace. The transformer that sends power to the thermostat is what went bad. It has a loose connection so even when it was told to turn the heat off it never got the signal. At least that was an easy fix. Now on to the job thing and the tv.Have a great day all Iam going to take my kids fishing on this bright sunny day.Smile [:)]

Jason.....sorry to hear the bad news.  It never ceases to amaze and disappoint me how impersonal and insensitive companies have become when it comes to something as crucial as treating employees with dignity and respect, especially in a situation such as this.  What kind of statement does that make to the employees that remain?

I wonder if the top person knows how poorly this has been handled.

My prayers for you and your family.  It was heartening to hear you treat your kids to something they will enjoy and remember today, not the bad stuff.

I've been trying to catch up after a hiatus from the Forum lately.  It seems the job wars continue as do the teen and kids wars.

Doug, Steve, Mike C, EZMIKE, Jim, et al....I used to really stew when it came to my children making less than optimal choices or giving what appeared to be a half hearted effort when it came to overcoming obstacles.  Kids act tough, or they act like they don't care when things don't go well.  The opposite is true.  They do care but sometimes get stuck.  Glad we weren't like that  Whistling [:-^]  So for all you guys with children challenges, I assure you that "this too shall pass".....to be replaced with newer and more exciting disasters with them.

Jim......you said you are going to be ordained in the Fall.  That's good news for those of us who need you to put in a good word for us UP THERE.  There are a couple of us out here.

RT......glad to hear you are still hammering away.  Good things will come.

Dennis.....said a prayer for your friend in Special Ops and the rest of our brave folks in uniform.  My son recently got back from a wedding in St. Louis for a school roommate who recently got back from his first tour in Iraq, helicopter pilot with some harrowing experiences which caught my son's attention.  Hope you and your wife are feeling better.

ANJDEVIL....hope your wife remains upbeat after the recent job loss.

LAZ The Landscaper.....are you totally hooked with the neighbor's riding mower yet?

Brent.....great photos of your niece Katie on the train outing.  Hit the books and start looking for that perfect anniversary gift!  No, it ain't a toy train.

John J&J.....glad to read you are back at work.  Bet you feel a lot better than you did a month ago.  Hang in there.

Kurt....there are so many books and videos out there on effective learning techniques.  A woman I know asked me if I would help her 8 year old ADD son with his writing skills and a composition he had to do on paper....no word processor allowed.  We turned off the TV, cleared out a space to work, searched for writing materials, could not find a dictionary, got a meal in him, only to find he had been up until 3 AM playing videos and hadn't read the material he was supposed to write the composition on.  It was apparent to me why the kid is struggling in school.

Welcome to all of the newcomers Sign - Welcome [#welcome].

Evenin' boys.  Evenin' English.  Mostly sunny & 66 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  All 4 children did pretty good with their report cards (big sigh of relief here).  Had "interesting" experience at my local HOME DEPOT last night.  Needed to buy a new charcoal grill, and fifey's-wifey and I were looking over all the models.  I spotted a tried-and-true Weber ($139), and then my ever-loving noticed a much nicer/fancier/bellsandwhistles model on a nearby shelf.  There was the big ladder right next to it...and I was only on the second from bottom step...and then the "associate" popped in out of nowhere to order me off that second step.  I tried to explain that I was only trying to see what my wife wanted to buy, but a more stern order came my way complete with liability this-and-that.

I just smiled.

Net savings = $72.

Jason...Been there done that.  Make sure you keep a list of every job contact you make so the funds keep flowing from the state.  Also, write down all the phone numbers.  You might need them later at tax time. Sad [:(]  Make that computer your workhorse to find a new job.  I did and it worked.  I received emails everyday telling me about "opportunities."

Chuck....Who is Betty?  Why is she driving the Chief to casinos in Georgia?

Laz.... Have you heard about the bear guarding the prison in Louisiana?  Maybe you could rent your bear to PA and make more money for trains.

Roy....I have almost completed my wiring.  I didn't know that I was so inept at wiring TMCC.  I have substituted a grapefruit instead of an orange for more power.  I knew you would be proud of me.

Everyone should drop Williams/Bachman an email and tell them to put their products back on line.  I did, just for Chuck.

fifedog.....When is the big steak barbaque?  Dinner [dinner].

Casinos in Georgia ?????  Where??  This is the most unlikely place to find a casino, heck they've even tried to ban poker machines (if there are payoffs they take and destroy).  Nearest casino in on a reservation in N.C.

Good Afternoon -

Had a great week-end, got all the chores done!  Patio rewired for the summer, most of the wifes wind chimes hung, she's blissfully happy.

Sunday, went to the Railfest!  It was very good, something was there for everyone!  From N-Scale to Prototype.  Even the Lego layout and trains!  Wife rang the bell on the BNSF diesel that was there, public got to walk through the diesel, and could go up in the cab of a 4-6-0 Steam engine.  Probably atleast 100 booths, all the way from train oriented lodgings (Mo.), train trips, clothing, toys, pictures, clubs, layouts, accessories, and a lot of people.  I DIDN'T buy a thing!!  Wanted too, but just dont have room, and then need to watch the $$.

The only bad thing was I didn't think to bring the camera!!  Missed a lot of good pictures!  The layouts that were on display were really awesome!

Even found one place that was selling O scale that was from Drexel Hill, PA. ?? So a really good time.

Then got home and talked to Doug M, what a pleasant surprise that was!!  Really enjoyed the conversation.  Finally, closed the day out with a great dinner, and a couple of movies.

So hope everyone has a great evening, time to get ready to go home.

Later.

Don

Sorry to hear folks with the employment issues.  These days, internet is certainly the way to make first contacts as with gas prices, driving from place to place is out.  Pray hard and something better is bound to open up.

My case today ended up taking a lonnng time as we had to do more than originally advertised by cardiologist.  I came home exhausted, but have yet to get a nap in....took family out to our favorite Mexican place today.  Cinco DeMayo...place was packed!  Some young woman was having the most difficult time navigating the floor.  I am glad it didn't get any worse as it teaches bad lessons for the kids.

Will help son go over his homework and then it is off to bed.  Thankfully, tomorrow is not that early, I can sleep till 6am  which will be nice.  Seems the older I get, the longer it takes me to get over extended periods of work.  That is all part of training so that you can still function without sleep, but it does eventually catch up with you.  Right now, my entire body aches.

Hope everyone has a great night and that I can get a little train time in tomorrow.  Speaking of trains, I got a delivery of a K-Line 25th anniversary car and two PW cars, a gondola and a hopper, all for under $20.  Wife just rolls her eyes.

God Bless,
Dennis
