Greetings from class where it is my quarterly night for students to work on their websites in the lab with me roaming around so I can check in and say hello. Thanks for the advice, Don. My, that looks like a nice walking stick. Whoops, it's moving...

Evenin' boys.  Pretty day here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  I'm fortunate that while at work, I can keep an eye on local rail activity, and everything seemed to be running today, including a CSX freight crossing over our century old B&O swing bridge (sorry, still shoot slides exclusively).

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio

It has been beautiful.  Got the garden tilled and it is ready for plants.  Moved some furniture for my bro and worked on assignments for class this weekend.

Bride just got in from work in Peds, and I made supper of scrambled eggs with peppers, bacon and toast.  I love having breakfast for supper, especially with salsa on the eggsDinner [dinner]

Hope you all have a great evening

May God bless

Chuck and Blueberry, why don't you each keep one shoe.  Then, you can each be "formal", but you will have to hop on one foot.

Well, actually had a quiet day.  One case and then I was done.  Bride was not feeling well, so I went and picked the kids up and took them to the dentist for their semi annual cleaning/check up.  Then, we had my daughter's ballet recital  practice.  She actually did dance and was pretty good.  Now, if she will only do that this weekend, it will be good.  When we got home, we watched the TM video "Making of the Lionel Scale Hudson".  Pretty good show and It really makes me want to get one.

Well, It is late and I am heading to bed.  HOpe you all have a great night.

God Bless,

Dennis

Fife - what did you put in the display model?  Something horrible?  Sticky?  Laugh [(-D]Wink [;)]

Sorry so late - had to go to Culvers for Scout night.  The boys wore their Class A's so I hope we don't get in trouble.  Everybody seemed really happy to have them bringing their food and cleaning the tables though.  Then, I had to do the grocery shopping as we have been out of food.  Got a new Wood magazine and a new Lego magazine in the mail.  Still need to read that last TCA magazine, but just haven't had time.

On the way, Sir James.  Will pick up Doug at the school and swing over to Kurt's (check for more cookies?) on the way!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening Folks

Wanted to stop in and ask a question for some of the Flyer folks.  One of the parents at my school has an American Flyer 20440 Set and would like to get an idea of the value.  I checked on eBay but found no comparables.  If anyone has a Flyer Price guide, please drop a note or send me a PM.

Thanks,

Mitch

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  I did a "Chief" today as I mowed, edged, trimmed tree, cleaned gutters, picked up some items for the wife, voted (early and often as they do in Chicago, right Doug), checked on action at the track, and watched election returns.  Do I know how to call them or what?  Hillary goes to the Speedway today, wins Indiana.  Helps that she had Sarah Fisher's endorsement as well.  Soccer practice did not go well last night.  Not too many kids showed up and the ones that did, blew by me in practice.  Ouch.  All that conditioning and training....all shot to h---.  Maybe it is time to hang up the cleats :-(  We'll see how I do in a scrimmage situation first.  Maybe old age and treachery can still beat a few of them :-)  I had just the regular fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day (and based on today's practice speeds, Darren and Sarah need one).

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening!

Everyone seems to be doing pretty good!

Brutus - Doug won't be there when you get there, he's in Phoenix, probably trying to figure out where the trees are.  I'll make sure he gets the daily shot of banilla, they have some special formulation that is done locally.  It originates from the Superstition Mountains which is within sight from where he is at.

Doug - If you get a chance Cave Creek Canyon is a real nice looking area, then if you get bored there is always the Lost Dutchman Mine and Fort Apache.  (Last time I was in Phoenix I was driving around various areas where I use to live.  With all the expansion and growth didn't realize I was as far east as I was.  Ended up on an Indian Reservation, and was not welcome.  The police stopped me, wanted to know what I was doing there, and what my motives were.  They finally let me go, and warned me about coming back.

Had a good evening with the trains tonight!  Everything is back on-line and working fine.  Think I am going to make a camera car out of an old searchlight car.  Need a heavy flat car to help provide a stable base for the camera.  I picked up one of those wireless "spy" cameras last year, and can play it on the TV in the room.  Provides a real good color prospective of an Engineers view.  Wish I would have piced up a second one for the G-Scale trains, or be able to run them from opposite directions.

Tomorrow is meeting night, got word today about taking the day off, YaHoo!!  So someone had suggested getting a picture of the Big Boy on the trestle at the club.  So have been thinking a lot about doing that tomorrow.

UPS made a surprise visit today!!!  Always exciting !!

Hope everyone has a good day !!!

Fife - I read that you only do slides.  What camera do you use?  I have several film cameras that I have been trying to sell.  Just like the responses to my job applications - NO INTEREST.

Speaking of the VIEW from above, I was in the right place at the right time earlier this week.  My Oh My - What a wonderful day!!!

Brent - I found a box that I can ship the switch in if your still interested, let me know.

I also got a new Wood magazine this week.  When I first got it out of the mailbox I thought, Oh No, they changed the size again!  Turns out it is exactly the same size as previous issues.  Must have just been my new glasses.

The community garage sale is this weekend (Thursday through Saturday), been busy going through the house gathering "stuff" that needs to go.  I wish I had a bigger garage because the weather might be less than desirable and we have lots to sell.

Sorry to hear about the additional layoff's, I fear it will be a long time before this economy turns around.

That's enough from me for now, need to fix breakfast.  Egg beaters are on the menu.

They should consider making the magazine out of paper instead.  That way the pages can stay under 1/16" in thickness, and reduce weight...:)

HI GIZ,

45 and cool here to get to 80.  Mowed 3 lawns last nite, neighbor ladies with her zero turn mower.  That still is one nice mower and I am getting better on it, only took about 30 minutes.  Then did my lawn and then the guy behind my houses.  Tonite going to plant beans.  I also have to get my stitches out from where they removed the mole on my back.

  All have a good one,

Mornin' Fellas.

What is Doug doing in Phoenix? Confused [%-)]

GregM - Yes still interested, can you get a shipping estimate and let me know the total? Sorry to hear about the job. Will keep prayin' for you.

Cooltech - send me a PM I can point you to some software that will wipe that junk away and keep you from getting infected again. No it isn't McAfee (joke), Norton (system resource hog that dies after 9 months and requires a renewal that doesn't do 1/2 of what your version does, or requires an upgrade that is an even bigger resource hog), and isn't free (free software is just that, free and you need to watch these 'free' software packages as many have dropped off the face of the Earth and the companies don't have a financial reason to keep the virus definitions up-to-date). Sorry for the rant.

I forget everything else I wanted to say... Confused [%-)] Looks like I've been infected with the memory loss virus that seems to be pretty prevalent on here! Wink [;)]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, sunny 50 degrees. Going up to 75 today, with a slight chance of rain, this evening.

Today is a busy day. It's grocery shopping day. I am soooo happy. Gas prices are at $3.58 a gallon. 20 bucks gets me a half a tank. Food prices are equally high. Don't drive or eat.  LOL

I got the main drive belt on the mower, yesterday. Lot of work. Runs great. Mowing is finished for the week.

Dining car has rolled in and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s.  It is almost a relief to be back at work after being outside most of the day.  At least I did not have to drive today.  Tonight I will go to the YMCA before they send out a search party for me.  I had the usual fare on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning ya'll,

A gorgeous sunny morning here in Northeast Taxachussetts.  Wondering if Chief got home yet from all the post primary parties.  Heard grits were not served, and they made him check his piece at the door.

Rich.....glad to hear your wife is strong and has begun her job search quickly--an interview that soon is encouraging, and even if it doesn't pan out it is good practice.  I began helping one friend who is unhappy (being worked to death after layoffs) whose company is on the edge, and he just can't seem to find the time to get serious about updating his resume.  Another friend, unhappy with his lot at his company, "lost" his resume from 15 years ago and despite one brainstorming session has yet to commit anything to MS Word.

GregM....as you can see from the Pot posts, you've got plenty of company in the job search wars.

Jason......you made an observation about not wanting to be self employed.  While you won't lay yourself off, you have no one else to fall back on when you need time off, time (evenings, weekends) many of us take for granted, especially those with little ones.  Or when you get sick or injured.   Many times you have to walk away from interested parties because of previous committments.  And other times the well is dry.  But.....I know two guys who have split off on their own, and the job security is great.  They MAKE time for their families, one way or another.

Brent.......congratulations to SusieQ for her company's recognition.  Hope you didn't have a pre-nup that prohibits you from sharing in the spoils for train activities.

Steve.....a bunch of us got together and convinced your Doc you need to go back in for a colonoscopy.  You'll be out cold and not know who and how many hands were on your shoulders.  If you're sore afterwards, it wasn't from the flexible sigmoidiscope or whatever they use nowadays.

Re the topic of the large box stores, I'm with those who have gravitated to the local hardware store for evrything I can.  They have experienced staff that walk you to your product and have the knowledge to tell you how to install/use/fix.  More expensive but worth the service, especially for an unhandy guy such as myself.

Jim.....prayers for a successful surgical outcome for your brother.

Mitch....sounds like the smoke is clearing on the new school construction project, unveiling more fire!  Now comes the fun part.....walking around with your clipboard and punchlist, finding all the horrors, and getting them all rectified before.....bet your deadline doesn't change.  Put Pepto Bismol and Tums on the shopping list.  Borrow a BIG handgun with notches on the handle from Chief, not one of those varmint poppers, and prominently display it when talking to the "don't worry about it" contractors.

Chief.....you'd be glad to know it got down in the 30s here two nights last week and Sugar Valley still had skiing last weekend, snow not water.

THE GREATEST SPECTACLE IN MOTORSPORTS.  Got lucky back in 1983 and had 13th row Tower Terrace seats, Gordon Johncock's pits straight ahead,  previous year's winner if I'm not mistaken.  Wife and I couldn't understand why everyone but us was carrying coolers into the Speedway, only to find that Indianapolis is dry on Sundays.  The folks sitting around us felt sorry for us rookies and rectified our lack of planning.  Got hit with a sudden and serious duststorm on the way home to Chicago with the T-tops off the car and the cornfields supplying an ample amount of soil for the car interior.  Wife looked like a racoon when she took off her sunglasses.  Boy is Indiana flat country!  There is nothing quite like seeing open wheeled cars live, screaming down the straight at 240 mph and diving into turn one.

Don, have you considered one of the transformer cars?  they have a heavy base and with the lower center of gravity, it might be right for the task.  I would be interested in the camera make, etc when you get it worked out.   sounds like a neat idea.

Well, UPS delivered our "Omaha Steaks" package last nightDinner [dinner]  They had a special, plus we had a coupon, so we got the $220. deal for $69.  Filled the freezer with some grillin stuff!  When wife is feeling better, I'll be doing some cooking.

Slow day here today.  We have a case to do, but patient will need some work up before we can get going.  I heard that Health care is one of the hot button issues our political types will be addressing.  Nothing ever seems to get better when it is filtered through congress.  As Reagan said " the most frightening words in the English language are ' I'm from the government and I am here to help'."

Well, I hope that everyone has a blessed day.  It was 90 yesterday and who knows about today...but the air conditioner is set at 72.

God Bless,

dennis

Steve....I put that one off for 7 years.  In conclusion, as others will attest, the worst part of the colonoscopy was the 2 day fasting before the procedure, no lie.  You go in, lie down, get knocked out, wake up, stagger out of the hospital from the anesthesia, and immediately start looking for a steak.  No ill effects, except you are so hungry even grits start looking good.  Right, Chief?  Seven years of worrying for nothing.

Don't need a gun when you have a fighter jet!  Be glad you didn't go to a MD near Mass.  When I had mine done, my wife was with me and kept things on the up side.  Best part about it was when the recovery nurse said she had to hear me pass gas....Well, OK, do you want me to toot a song, or just the alphabet?  Speaking of Toots, where is buckeye?

Morning all. I forgot what its like to be alive again. 3 days of sleeping when its dark out and getting 8 hours has brought me back to life. When I was working 3rd shift I was getting an hour or two here and there throughout the day at different times.  I didnt relize how tired I was. It is a bright and sunny day this morning with rain and thunderstorms predicted around lunch. I think I will take the kids to the park and let them burn off a little energy before the rain. Then while they are at school I can get a little train time in. Funny thing about today the wifes employer is paying a financial adviser to meet with all of there employes about saving for retirement. We both started saving right out of school. The funny thing is she called yesterday to confirm the appointment and I asked her what the meeting would be focusing on. She said increasing the amount contributed and where the money is invested. How if we increased we would be paying less taxes and such. I told her I just lost my job and instantly her tone changed. Told her if anything we would be reducing for a short wile, asked her do you still want to do the meting. She says the wifes employer has made it mandatory to meet with all employes before August about contribution changes that they match. I think this will be a vary short meeting. Hope every one has a great day.

Morning all.  Up since 6:30.  Been watching mule deer and elk hunting on TV.  Brakfast finished and dishes washed.  Now to mow and etc.  May put lime in pond.  Messy job.  Load some bags in boat and run around and dump it out in water.  Cleaned and tuned Ranger yeterday.  May go to Kerr Lake tomorrow for a short one.  Cost so much to tow up there.

Now on the colonoscopy is the meds you drink and in 30 minutes you'd better be close to a bathroom or you will have a mess.  I don't have to stop eating until 12 hours before.  With those HAPPY drugs, you never know what happened.

Gas is up to $3.79 here.  No end in sight for the increases.  Hope it doesn't keep people away from tomorrows neighborhood garage sales.  I have lots of stuff that I want gone!

RT - Thanks, I'll check e-mail in a few minutes.

Brent - will do.

Chief - I have had two "scopes."  First time was with a THREE day liquid only diet and only water day before.  Had to drink the liquid for the first test. Got so sick I wanted to croak.  Second time Dr. prescribed same medicine.  Called Dr. office, told them when Karen had her test she got pills to take.  The didn't want to give me prescription for pills.  My response -  No Pills, NO TEST.  I got the pills.  Wasn't anywhere near as bad getting "preped.".  I have been told that you aren't "out" during the test, it's just that the drugs you're given cause you to have no memory of the event.

Have a couple errands to do this afternoon so I better stop typing and finish lunch.
