I've been on the campaign trail since Friday noon and let me tell you, it's difficult to say the least.  Will be home tonight and I'm very much looking forward to that.  Drove through torential rains late Friday night after a campaign stop of 5 hours, I thought presidential contenders stayed in better digs than the Super 8.  L O N G day yesterday but a good one, fun working with the best high school kids in Iowa, I love it.  Won't seem them again until late Sept.

Morning all. We're experiencing beautiful Iowa weather in our part of Illinois. Must be the influence of Mr. soon-to-be-President Jon. Weather control. What will he think of next?Thumbs Up [tup]

I was browsing the British Railway Modeling mag website whilst waiting for the bride to come on home. Outstanding, inspirational modeling. and Expensive - wow, Dennis and John, you sure are right. Hope Jim Stur-Fish is sleeping now. Ran trains last night - only one pile-up. There's this corner - in the far reaches of the layout - that inevitably parallel trains will catch one another espec. with the longer passenger cars. Don, hope your wife and g.f. don't end up at the same viewing of Iron Man. Wink [;)]

Jon...You need a campaign manager; me!  I ran Chief's successful campaign for Mayor along with Ms. Lisa and look where he ended up.  Then again, maybe you shouldn't look.

Beautiful day in Buckeyeland.

The big party last night was a huge success.  It raised over $30,000 for our parks in Roger's Corners.  I wore matching shoes. (Thank you, Chuck.) It is amazing how the women swoon over you if you wear matching shoes.  None of them own Lionel Trains or a Bass Boat so I don't see a reason to trade in Mrs. Buckeye.  A couple of them did own mansions with cement ponds, but that doesn't hack it in my book.

Ran the trains yesterday.  No pile ups.  New bridge did not collapse under the weight of the Mikado Steamer.  Everything working perfect even though I run everything with TMCC.  I must be doing something wrong.  Big Smile [:D]  I did notice a caboose light blink when in crossed the double switch.  Do you think it is something serious? Sigh [sigh]

Finally had time to look at the new Lionel Catalog.  WOW!  This legacy contraption that you are all talking about is really neat.  If it would only flush the toilet and raise the garage door, it would be perfect.

Mike.....The Columbus Dispatcher Newspaper told us how much fun you guys in Hoosierland are having with the election. It is the first time in 40 years when your votes counted for something.  Your TV and Radio Stations must feel rich and prosperous. You can now write them and tell them with all the money they made from the elections, you want more IRL racing coverage.

Summer travels: I will be in Hershey and San Francisco.

Have a good week.  Work is keeping me very busy, but I try to read the pot everyday and send an email to Chuck letting him know I'm alive.  As an orginal ten coffee pot poster, it is still fun to read the posts after four years on the forum.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 44 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 63 today with sunshine.

Today is a relaxing day. I will take it easy and run trains for awhile, this afternoon. Planning to spend a little time outside. I'm glad the rain is over for a few days.

Buckeye....I'm glad your shoes matched last night. Made you popular. I think you have a serious problem with your TMCC thingy. Lights blinking in a caboose, mean that you need to change batteries in your DCS gizmo or in your PS -1, PS-2, PS-3, or what ever you have. Maybe you need to tear up your switch and replace it with a crossover ?   Anyway, good luck with the complicated electronics. I prefer to push the lever forward to make the train go faster and pull the lever back to slow it down. But that takes years of experience to master.

Dining car has been here and we had Cheerios for breakfast. The lovely waitress had a big smile this morning.

Y'all have a great Sunday,

Chuck

GOOD MORNING ALL

Well the guys stopped by and raided my fridge, I said ice cream and cookies, they ate my ham, and turkey ***, one slice of bread was all I found this morning. They did clean up though, I found all the dirty dishes under the train table.

Don B- No problem with the ZW meter, except I did not use it enough to keep the battery charged and the meter would not turn off. And the brillant people that designed this thing made no provision to get at the battery without removing the meter from the ZW. Which as you know means all the wires have to be removed also. The only way I would put it back on would be if I cut open the case so I could get at the battery.

We have bright sun this morning but chilly 40s, going to get warmer though. Yesterday morning I opened my HWX tender and covered one of the whistle  openings to see if I could make it sound more British, I'll let you know after I have tried it awhile,,Enjoy your sunday,,,S.J.

HI GIZ,

Nice day here in PA.  Going to get to 69.   Went TROUT FISHIN last  nite for about 2 hrs.  Caught and released 3 whilst BROTHER caught and released 2.  Was a goofy looking nite weird sky.  Maybe thats why fish weren't biting.  At about 930 big rain came down but did not interfer with dogs and burgers on the outdoor fireplace.  We have it covered and were able to watch fire and rain together.

BUCKEYE, were those shoes the pointy toe variety, with cleats on them?  CHICKS really dig those kind of shoes.

  JON FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

Blush [:I] Sorry about Chewy's indiscretion in the train room, Jim!  She did clean those plates for you though to a sparkling gleam!  That's because Chewy is a GOOD DOG!  (I think she is pining for Rudy - Doug needs to bring Rudy next time).  Hey, let me know how that HWX fix works out.  I got an email from TAS about updating the HWX to TMCC and I just might do it for my birthday!  Considering that the whole set cost about $200, another $170 to upgrade the locomotive seems like a bargain to me....  He said they can't do an electrocoupler on it though?  I would think they could put one on the tender?  Maybe he misunderstood my question?

Doug, hope that pileup didn't involve Thomas or Percy?!  Are you getting those two new diesel locomotives?

Wife and son have been working on a rollercoaster project since like 6 AM.  She joked with one of her friends that she was sure she would end up doing it with him.  This was an error in judgement, a month ago, since I said sounds good to me, good luck!  I did go buy the supplies for them.  I'll post a picture of it later, when it is done.  They have a slope, a loop-d-loop, a turn, a helix, and they said they are going to add a camelback?  I just wonder if it is TMCC or Conventional and whether I can have it when they are done?

Good luck with your visitors there, Chief.    Whistling [:-^]  Hope things go the way you want.

Dennis, good luck with your case today, God bless.

Jim (SP) - I had to work a split shift years ago.  Night shift was okay, day shift was better, but switching back and forth was the pits.  I hope you adjust quickly and that your studies continue to go so well!

Chuck Laugh [(-D]  Just don't end up like old Steve down in Danville, with your hand on the throttle but scalded to death by the steam, right?

Buckeye, If anyone could get Jon elected, I'm sure you and Ms. Lisa could do it.  Speaking of whom, where are Ms. Lisa and Misty?

RT - hang in there, man.  Keep us posted!

John Baker, Doug is right, those O gauge trains from the Sceptered Isle are really gorgeous, but too much $$$.  You need to devalue your currency a little bit like we have been doing - it's the really popular thing to do, you know?!

Mike, was your friend from Norway ever bitten by a moose?  (Monty Python Joke)

Don B, I'm going to go see Ironman in about an hour - I heard it is great!  They have a statue of The Hulk at the theater and we'll get pictures with the big Green Guy too!  I'm in Nerd-Heaven!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Sumptin suspcious going on !

I'm thinking Chuck and Buckeye are up to something.  All this talk about matching shoes seems a little bit odd to me.  We all know Buckeye doesn't have matching shoes he only has steel toed boots, so Chuck HAD to send him some.  Then the inferance about shoe laces???

So Buckeye comes back and says it was all a big success ?????  Hmmmm

- Raised $30,000  (some kind of payoff?)

- Women swooning !! (just because of shoes??)

- A Bridge that didn't collapse (secret code for weight restriction??)

- Flashing light in caboosse (some kind of code?)

- Travel to PA and CA ?

- And Chuck is eating Cheerios ??

I'm telling you something is up with these two !!!

fifedog....I think you should read the press release and then tell me if the famous Sand Patch tunnel will be skylighted. Shock [:O]

Buckeye - I just got around to reading this, thanks for the thread.  This is why CSX and NS went crazy bidding on Conrail, due to the clearance project over the former PRR Middle Division.  Had CSX been able to win Conrail outright, it would have abandoned its former B & O lines altogether, in favor of the BROADWAY.  Obviously, NS got the jewel in that deal.  Now, CSX needs to play catch-up, because of the overwhelming need to transport everything from CHINA to the east coast at break-neck speed.  I can definitely see them "daylighting" SAND PATCH tunnel if need be, as UP/BNSF has done in CA.  It certainly wouldn't be that hard to do.  The sticking point in all this is the horrible infrastructure in Baltimore.  CSX will either have to build a new "chunnel" across the Patapsco River  (good luck getting any help from MARTY-LAND), or by-pass the Washington-Baltimore region alltogether by seeking a route thru Hagerstown (thus turning the PORT of BALTIMORE into a ghost town).  Stay tuned.

Just got a phone call from the Host of the party, that Buckeye was at, last night. He told me that Buckeye showed up with both shoes on his right foot. He asked Buckeye why he wore the shoes on his right foot and none on his left foot. Buckeye told him that his Friend Chuck told him to....." Make sure you have your shoes on the right foot ".  The Host did say that both shoes matched. Oh, well.

Back from the park. Musing about track-spacing. Brutus, I've been thinking about Diesel but decided for now that our little part of Sodor will remain a bastion of the steam locomotive.  Sorry, Sir James, we thought everything in the fridge was fair game. Will bring more food over next time; hope you don't mind Rudy too - our mini-dauschund - to visit with Chewey. Dang, Buckeye is wearing shoes - what'll they think of next in Ohio?!

Brutus;

You probably heard the one about the cannibal chieftan who fired his chef. After dining on a meal of missionairies, the chief complained to the chef. The chef replied that he cooked the usual way by boiling. The chief said, "No wonder the taste was off. Those were friars!!!"

Sounds good to me, Doug.  Say, Iron Man was great!  The ending was a little abrupt, but I'll give the movie an A+ and Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]!  Indiana Jones looks like it will be a great movie too.

Picked up a replacement window at Home Depot.  I measured and the inserts are the same size.  Waiting for my wife to get home so I can find out what we are doing for dinner.  No trains again today :(  I need to get on that 15 minutes a day thing, too.

I am a bit on the tired side right now....better than 35 hours of operating in the last 48.  I think I have to go back and re-read some of the posts....did Chuch say something about  buckeye having trouble with his crossdressing, or something?  And Sir James, when you were talking about issues with batteries, I was sure you must be talking about MTH engines?  And Brutus, I think they have a wonderful telephone system...more from monty python....exceptional humor, and they ate their minstrals!

Met up with wife and kids at Red Lobster for dinner...wanted to remind them what I looked like.  Had to have the desert....big chocolate fudge filled chocolate chip cookie heated and a scoop of banilla with chocolate syrup on top.  I would have stopped by Sir James, but I think he just put those nice clean looking dishes in the cabinet, not knowing it was Chewy that did the cleaning.

Brutus, thanks for the review of the movie.  I was thinking about that one.  I really am looking forward to the second "Chronicals of Narnia" which is supposed to be coming out this coming week.  I am a big Indiana fan too, but Mr. Ford seems like he is getting a bit aged for the roll.  Will have to check it out anyway.

I hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Good afternoon from beautiful Southern Ohio

Sunny clear and 68°F.  Thanks for all the prayers, for a safe travel home this morning.  I was tired but did not get sleepy.  I was in bed asleep by 0800.  Got up and wife had steaks marinating for the grill, fresh rhubarb crisp, grilled potatoes and onions.  Only thing that would of made it better would have been to have a cold Molson, but I had to go to work.

Laz- Sounds like the trout is hitting pretty good.  Crappies are going strong here.  This is my last night so maybe this week I'll be able to get some fishing in.  I've got class again this coming Saturday, and I am up to do the homily.  It will be for Pentecost Sunday so there will be no lack of material to work from.

Jim F- I've worked swing for over 20 of the 31 years I've worked at the plant.  If anything you develop the ability to fall asleep where ever and whenever you will yourself to, and enjoy coffee.

Dennis- Those are long hours.  May God watch over you and your work.

RT- Continued prayers

For all with kids going to proms, prayers for safety and patience.

May God bless

Jim

GOOD EVENING ALL

I was wondering why you guys left the clean dishes on the floor. I should have read the posts before I put them in the cupboard. I didn't tell my wife or she would have made me wash all the dishes.

Dennis-I WAS thinking about those engines as I wrote this morning, your a darn good doctor to know what I was thinking. I even threw a good Makita cordless drill away because I got tired of replacing the batteries.

We had a sunny 63 today, but windy again, 70s tomorrow and will cut the grass unless my train friend calls and then off we go. The HWX whistle still does not sound the way I think a british whistle should but I like it better than the standard sound so I am going to keep it that way for now. Besides its only a ten minute job to open and remove the tape if I want to. Start getting ready for monday. Everyones welcome to stop by but there's nothing left but ice cream and cookies.     Later,,,,,S.J.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  We had the family together for a birthday dinner for Lucas.  My oldest and I went out and kicked the soccer ball around.  I do not think my conditioning work has done me any good.  We shall see Monday night.  We had a nice day today.  Watched some of the rookie orientation at the track on the internet feed.

Jim, I will have to ask my Norwegian soccer friend about that.  She likes movies but I do not know if she saw the one you are referring to.  Those of you who have been here a while know that she is very special to me.  She only played one year for my high school, but she took a team that was 0-14-3 the year before and took them to a 9-7-1 record.  Should have won sectional, but.....  She was the stuff legends are made of.

Buckeye, you are right about the commercials.  The stations could broadcast the race with no commercials and still be money ahead of normal years.  Well, it may be another 40 years before any politician cares about Indiana again.

I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day (and that Darren Manning and Sarah Fisher have a good month of May).

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening!

Buckeye:  Congratulations on the matching shoes!  Did your bride confirm they were matching?  I'm a little concerned about some caboose winking at you...?

Dennnis:  Prayers for you my friend...That's quite a stretch.

Bride decides we need to go to early church...announced 15 minutes before we need to leave, no one washed or dressed for church.

Beautiful sunny day here!  Took the girls to the park in the afternoon.

More wiring during nap time.

White chocolate macadamia nut cookies at our house!  We still have a few raspberry truffles too!

Got home at a decent hour.  Everything fed [all bird feeders were empty], fish started jumping as soon as white pickup drove up and deer will be happy again.  Reports done.  Did get to see the Tutors.  Now for some ice cream and then bed.  Got lunch with oldest, County Commissioners and then Town Board.  Busy day.  Sleep tight and God bless.

Hi guys,

Quick check in to let you know I am still kicking.  Read all the posts since my last one and of course already forgot a lot of it.  Don't remember anyone on the sick list so that is good.  Worked on the train inventory this afternoon a little bit.  Slow going as I am trying to add pictures to all of the listings.  That is what takes the time.

Hope everyone has a pleasant week.

Well, I've been catching up on some dvds I picked up last month.  Watched Elvira's Movie Macabre presentations of Maneater of Hydra and The House that Screamed.  Cheesy fun, but not very good prints of the movies.  Hydra was one I remembered seeing as a kid, but it did not live up to my memory, LOL.  House is a guilty pleasure, but pretty creepy with some Old Dark House thrills and an unforgetable ending.  Good thing the double movie set was so cheap!  Then I watched The Night of the Sorcerers, which had it's charms, but was a little lame compared to other movies by Ossorio.  I think it was just too many elements - jungle movie, voodoo, vampires, zombies....  Pick 2 and it would have been a better movie, I'll bet.  Still, plenty to enjoy.

Dennis, the preview for Prince Caspian looked Awesome too!  It looked darker than the first one, but the first one (book and movie) will probably be my favorite in the series.

I guess it's too late now.  I'll catch up with you guys earlier with the Tardis and we'll get some banilla - I'll bring the butter pecan!  Need some cookies too, hmmm?  TTFN

I think there is always room for one more cannibal joke, right?

Two cannibals sat licking their fingers after a large meal. "Your wife makes a delicious roast," one said.  "Thanks,"  his friend said, "I'm gonna miss her!"

Good night!

Sigh [sigh]

Buckeye,

You obviously need to rewire your layout. Did you add the TMCC terminations
to your track? If not you need to take an orange and poke two wires in it,
one red and one black. Make absolutely sure you attach the red wire to the
center rail and then attach the black wire to a metal flange on your toilet
paper holder. This will insure your TMCC is working correctly.

Finally had time to look at the new Lionel Catalog.  WOW!  This legacy contraption that you are all talking about is really neat.  If it would only flush the toilet and raise the garage door, it would be perfect.

Buckeye - Legacy does all those things - you need to wire it correctly - refer to my previous comment, but use an apple instead of the orange and add a second black wire and run it to the track on your garage door opener.

A beautiful day here today. High 70's, sunny, light breeze. Spent most of the afternoon napping on the back porch. That new patio furniture from Target ain't bad. Somehow mustered the strength to get up and mow the lawn. Then broke in the new gas grill (Target again) for dinner - BBQ chicken.

Been trying to buy a small bandsaw. Sears has some nice ones. But after several months of looking (and 3 different Sears stores - we have lots of variety here) - I came to this conclusion - Sears sells bandsaws and Sears also sells bandsaw blades. However - Sear does not sell the same size bandsaw blades as the bandsaws they sell (say that real fast 5 times). I also looked at Home Depot - they follow the Sears sales model (and HD does not happen to carry the size of bandsaw blades that would fit the Sears unit and vice versa). Somehow these giants of home workshop retailing have gotten together to offer no less than 12 different models of bandsaws (large and small) and do not carry the blades to fit the models they sell. One Sears had rows of 80 inch blades where the packages and hanger ID/price tags have seriously faded from exposure to the flourescent lights. I tried to point out this dilemma to the sales associates and then quickly realized why the dilemma exists in the first place (silly me). Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid] After sleeping on it I then realized how stupid I have been - bandsaws are rather dangerous machines (much more so than circular saws - right?) and if you do not carry any blades for them no one can get hurt and Sears and HD avoid expensive nasty lawsuits. Yeah!! [yeah] Oh - don't bother to mention Lowes - tried that to  Sign - Dots [#dots]

Have a good one tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 40 degrees. Sun is coming thru. Going up to 73 today, with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have to run some errands this morning and then do the front yard mowing, this afternoon. It's a good day to spend outside. Later this week, we are suppose to get some rain.

I was looking at the Williams website, the other day, and they do not show their products anymore. Instead, they offer their catalog for a 5 dollar price. This must be Bachman marketing.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Chuck

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Watched "Desperate Housewives" last night.  As always, it was hilarious. It is somewhat amusing that with as many visits that certain political candidates have made to the great state of Indiana recently, neither one have scheduled a visit to the one place that most Hoosiers hold dear to their hearts, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Maybe they really have not studied us at all?!?!  After Tuesday, all the hoopla will be done, and the circus will move on, and we can get back to discussing the important issue of the day,"Who will win the pole position on Saturday?"  :-)

There were bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
