MORNING ALL

A candidate's promise is nothing but words. I'm holding out for cash. It's time to bend over as we are getting reamed. I went out shopping and reg gas was $3.59 to $3.69. And other than words nobody in Washington seems to care. Oh they talk so they get their picture in the paper, but. We are suppose to get storms here so I'm done running for the day, just going to stay home now. Have a good one,,,,S.J.

EDIT--I forgot to mention The Red Wings, Tigers, and the Pistons all won yesterday, very unusual.

Happy B-Day [bday]LUCAS!!!!!

Fellas there is hope for your young men. If I can turn my life around and survive to 37 then there definitely is hope for them. Back when I was 15 my father sat me down and told me I had a choice to make:

1. I could continue down my current course and end up in jail or dead
2. I could decide to apply myself, get an education, get a good job, and have a successful life

No one was going to do it for me, but the choice was up to me.

3 years later as I boarded a plane for Germany he shook my hand and said, 'I am truely proud of you.' Only one other time he's told me that, June 16th 2006 - the day I married Susan.

Roy - Prayers for your wife

Jon - I would like to head the initiative to replace our current tax code with a consumption tax... I'll do all the work free of charge... After that I would gladly accept a position as Chief Information Officer. The federal government needs a centralized, focused, information technology plan and we don't have one... believe me it is scarey how under utilized IT is in our government.  I also submit Kurt for the position of Director of the EPA.

Can someone please teach the SSA's cafeteria staff how to make cornbread????

Mike, congratulations to you and Lucas!  A huge milestone indeed.  It is told that what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger....he is a special kid and will contribute much to this world- I am sure.

Kurt, one thing that helped me in college and I know it is available for different grade levels, is "Where there's a Will, There's an A".  It was first started by Prof. Claude Olney from Arizona.  I believe you can get it on line.  It teaches good study habits as well as test taking methods.  It does come down to effective study vs. lengthy study.  I highly recommend it.

Jon, You have my vote!  I would be happy to vote for you over the two clowns and the other less than optimal candidate. (I can't call a war hero a "Clown").

Prayers for those in the mid west affected by the storms.  Looks bad on the tv.

I ended up spending a few hours cutting down the forrest, I mean grass in the yard.  Even with the irrigation system off, we have had substantial growth.  The Irrigation system is down for a few broken pipes.  Have the guys heading out there today to fix it.  On the house issue, maid did well, so we'll keep her.  Dishwasher is installed and super quiet.  All this makes the wife happy and, so I am allowed to be happy too.

Waiting for a case to start, hopefully won't be too long.  Once done, I am heading to the layout.  I am really looking forward to it tonight.

God Bless,

Dennis

Afternoon all from beautiful Southern Ohio

Just got up from working nightshift.  Taking tonight off to attend class tomorrow.  I've tried working a nightshift then going to class all day only to go to work, and it about killed me.  Can't pull those 30+hour stretches like I used to.

Jon-you have my vote!  Do you have a yard sign to put in my yard?  Your logo and platform has real eye appeal.

Going to go, need to get some reading done for tomorrow

May God bless

Home from fishing trip - lots of mud as we were between storms.  My son caught two big bluegill.  One was 7.5 inches and about 8 ounces and the other was 8 inches and about 10 ounces.  It was catch and release.  A couple kids caught snapping turtles.  One kid caught a bass.  On kid caught a catfish using goat cheese his grandma got for "free", so glad my taxes helped Wink [;)]  Another big wave of storm is coming, I've heard, so might not be on the computer later.  Might go to a train store this weekend, we'll see.  My wife clearly wants to spend a lot of money on something as she suggested a hobby shop trip Confused [%-)]

Hey guys,

To get over the gas prices I say we ride small motorcycles or mopeds or golf carts, hit the oil companies in their wallet for a change! My 2 cents [2c] Some of you may think the idea is humorous but I don't find laughing at $4.00 a gallon gasoline funny!!!

Maybe internet sales will go up as a result of the high gas prices.

I have heard a rumor that the owner of choochooauctions is moving to northeast Florida this fall.

EVENING ALL

We had some heavy rain today, but no storm. It's gone for now but we could get more later.

I messed with the trains today and still can't decide what to put away. I'm a toy train nut, I like it all. I'm still testing engines to make sure they run ok and so far not bad at all.

HI GIZ,

Just read all of this good political ads here on CTT.  And sitting here at the computer drinking a, you guessed it OL MIL, I just laughed out loud.  GREAT STUFF YUZ GIZ!!!!!   Very funny, I needed that.  Today was a COMP DAY for me and PROM DAY for the kidos.  But I spent the day from 7AM till 430 PM. moving my principal to ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.  Down by JELECTRIC.  JON, now you are stuck with himWink [;)].  He's a good GIY.  Lives just past the Mosonic Village up on the left in new development.  Me being the youngest at 51.5 had to do all the backward walking going up the stairs backwards etc.  Boy they picked on me today, but all in all we got all his stuff down in 2 trips.  I was a little bit tired but I think it was cause of lack o food worked straight thru no breaks, wha a slave driver.  Anyway got done had about a half hour so took my Lionel Niagara to BARRYs Train Shop to get worked on.  Talked to MIKE and his wife GERMAINE there then had to go to pet store and pick up dog food, pig ears, turtle food, and filters for turtles.  Drove all the back got home at 7Pm.  Tired so told wife we will have fire outside and cook over open flames.  She agreed.  Had sausages and Ol MILs outside whilst watching the flame dance, nice night.

BRUTUS, NICE CATCH there.  Got to find some perch, best eatin fish there is.

All have a good nite,

Bad weather has apparently gone up North of us and looks like we are in the clear for now.  Prayers for the folks in Arkansas, KC and anywhere else that was hit so hard!

Picked up a big picture book of locomtive portraits, lots of Climaxes and Shays as well as Mikados, speeders and porters - almost all related to logging operations.  Very cool!  They had a book on the Illinois Central that was great, but a little pricey for me today, maybe order from Amazon one day....

Sir James, I'm on the way.  Guys, I've still got some Sam Adams, Root Beer, cashews, and chips too.  TTFN

We'll share it and cook some porksteaks on the grill, how's that?  Ever had porksteaks?  Set 'em up the night before in a tub in the fridge with some Coke to really soften them up, cook on the fire and add some sauce or rub as desired!  Yummy and can also be a great sandwich with grilled onions and mustard.  Come on down some time Laz and I'll set you up good!

Brutus, the post that denigrated the two Democratic candidates by calling them clowns, was rude and insulting. Such comments reflect poorly on the forum, and ultimately on the forum members themselves, if left unchallenged.

I don't care what political persuasion you are, I assume we can at least agree that name calling has no place in civil discourse.

When I see comments like those, rest assured, I will challenge them every time.

Well, I must admit that I am wrong for having expressed my feelings regarding the current polititians.  I should not have attempted to extend on the humor of Jon's post regarding his candidacy....To the members of this forum, the moderators and to the owners of this web site, the current top three presidential candidates, and to the American people, Please accept my appologies.  I am humbled.

EDW, I must admit that when I read your challenge to my post, my first reaction was to try to find out who you are.  I read your posts and do note a lot of such challenges, but it seems you have never introduced yourself.  Please enlighten us, as this is usually the place where we come to Chat and have fun and sometimes include trains in our conversations.

Well, I must get to work.  Was supposed to go to my daughter's recital practice, but we have a life to save.  I hope that my kids know that I try to be there for all their functions, but when I am on call, well, it just doesn't work out sometimes.

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend.

God Bless (I ask His blessing on the members of this forum....not my statements)

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Good point.  Most of us on the coffee pot put something about ourselves on the our bio.  My favorite is when posters do not put their state in the signiture.  When they ask for help, with at least a location you can direct them to local help, i.e., LHS, Master Craftsman, low prices, etc.

Another stunning day in N Texas. Gonna be 72 today and sunny! 50's right now.

Going off to look at a train layout that is being parted out this morning. See if there is anything useful for the new club layout or the home layout.

Have a great day all!

Dennis - I don't see any need for an apology, your comment was made in a light hearted tone, and I certainly did not find it offensive.  Sometimes, I believe a lack of a sense of humor has created more dissention than a mere comment.  If we removed all the jabing of each other and our situations that are on this thread, it would be extremely boring, and probably very short.  Finally, this thread is over 4 years old and has been through a couple of rough times.  I remember when I first joined I took the time to find out what the demeanor was, and learned that it had its own personality and flavor.  Which I found very enjoyable.  I would think that before one becomes critical of a existing situation, they would take the time to understand it first.  Then if it wasn't appealing would select what they wanted to be involved with and act accordinly.
