Evening Gents...  Played with the trains quite a bit.  The new Legacy SD40 NS is awesome.  The sounds, the control...amazing.  Had a lash up of the GP7 and the SD40.  The GP was in the middle of the train.  Worked most excellent.

Upgraded my friends DCS today as well.  No issues there.  What a layout he has.  Can run very long trains.  I'm jealous.

Looks like Barry is still getting better.  That is good news!

Marty, anything with NS on it is outstanding. Whistling [:-^]  Actually I have one and then [with the help of my buddy Laz] I got a CN one.  Lashed together, they are outstanding.  How about how they creap?  Sounds are so great.  Love them.  In fact, that is the train I played with most of the morning after storing all the others.

Berk, main room is 13 by 13 and back room is 12 by 12 [but walls slant up in back room as it was a walkin closet [I insulated and covered] over the kitchen.

Later, I did some track changes and then pulled the track up and put down 3 layers of Celetex Soundstop.  Re-laid the track and had it back running in just a few days.

When we have company we have dessert...and lots of leftovers...you GIZ gotta come help me eat this stuff.  Still chocolate cake and cheesecake left over.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful , sunny 56 degrees. Going up to 76 today, with sunshine. Maybe a rain shower later on.

Today is the drive to Cambridge for groceries. Gas is really high. $3.47 a gallon and still going up. This is causing all other prices to go up too.  But, at the moment, no one really is doing anything about it.

No time for trains today. Busy.

Indians finally won another game. 15 to 1.  Go Tribe.

Dining car is here and is ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 70s.  It was another "Chief" night for me as I mowed the yard and did weights at the YMCA.  No TV.  I was tired.  Watching a couple of auctions on eBay that end later on tonight.  If they go well, I could have one, possibly two more items in my collection.  We shall see.  Picked up the PT Cruiser after a tuneup.  Plugs and wires $198.00.  Ouch.  The parts were not bad, but the labor is so much due to the small amount of room to work in the engine compartment.  I had a busy evening.  I slept well.  I had English muffins and sausages on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  It was a little different.  Prayers going out to those who need them.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning All

Sunny and 70s today, got to get gas for mower and trimmer,$3.55 gal.groan. True much less than the UK, but we  are not use to it. And there sure won't be any traveling  very far from home unless its shared expenses. I had a nice fireside chat with Brutus via email last nite, sure is good to have someone to talk to. the wife and I have been together so long we are all talked out, except when we decide to disagree. Have a safe day and I'll be around later....S.J.

Morning all. Praying for Joyce.  Yes, Berk, someone phoned in a bomb threat to our office right before evening classes began. Funny timing. No bomb. No classes either. Spent yesterday morning following-up and learning about the bomb squad - funny day on Monday in Chicago, lots of suspicious packages, etc all around us (we're right near the Fed Ctr.) reported by lots of 'alert' people. Beautiful day here.

Now I can muse about what I want from the fam. for me birthday next month.

Good Morning All !

Fun Day planned, going to go to the club early probably around 2.  Want to see about the next "Operating Session" plans.  You may recall last session we had 3 trains running in opposite directions at vairous speeds.  The passenger train was running 50 mph and had to stop at two stations for a minimum of 5 secs each.  The 2 freight trains are running at 20 mph, and 30 mph respectively.  Thus forcing the freight trains to yield to the passenger trains.  The passenger train had to make 8 circuits, thereby forcing the traffic issue.  For the next session I want to try and integrate the switching yard.  Requiring each of the freight trains to drop off their consist, and picking up a different one.  Of course the cars will have to be resorted.  So going to see what I can "invent".  Cars sorted by "odd/even" nos? sorted by type? sorted by color? other variable?  Anything to cause confusion.  Matter of fact I think I will have to create a subversive intent as well.  Chris is trying to "out smart" everything by coming up with advanced information to figure it out in advance and prestage to his advantage.  hmmmm

Also going to take a small "spy" camera I bought at York, last year.  Put it on a car, and maybe add that to the confusion.

So if any of you have time come on down should be fun.  Or come in on next Tuesdy and join the Operating System.

Have a great day, and will talk to you all later.

Don

cooltech......prayers for SIL, Joyce.  Sometimes the best we can do for our family and friends is to just be there, so don't be a stranger to them.  Sorry to hear that your pup is struggling.

Chief.....haven't read anything in the past few days about your recent illness, so I hope all is nearly back to normal.  Bad moonshine mixed with bad grits?  More important, hope Pam has recovered as well.  Someone has to drive the bus.  Sorry to hear about Sheriff; it's hard for a grandchild to comprehend mortality.  Thanks for the pics, much better angles than the previous ones you posted that I've seen, lots of great goodies.  Hope that neighbor has straightened out, but his environment and possible addiction are working against him.....one of these days he might just grab one of those outstretched hands like yours and pull himself out of the quagmire.

John/J&J.....about 3 weeks post op, you must be going stir crazy.  Don't get impatient and mess things up.  Those medical mechanics DO charge for bring backs and smile all the way to the bank, your bank.

RT.....still pulling for you to get the job.  The rest will fall into place one way or the other because you will make it so.  When in doubt, rent and commute while selling on the front end as others have suggested.  Been there, done that, 1720 miles round trip.

Brutus.....what ever happened to the problem you posted about Chewey's dew claws?

Roy....you must be getting really good at math.  My son repeated Freshman year and got a 76% average the second time around.  That Summer I pulled out the ultimate parental weapon used on males, promise of a car upon graduation if he pulled a B average the rest of the way.  Never saw a gpa under 94% the rest of the way, and the kid learned that quitting/excuses doesn't get it done.  Funny how he then approached his nemesis, Math, getting tutors on his own and putting in a lot of extra time.  Wife was in the dark about the deal with the devil until son spilled the beans Senior year, was very angry I didn't consult her on the car deal.  Whatever works I say.

Jon....touching piece on the Marine who finally succumbed to his injuries suffered in Iraq.  A true hero for all who knew him and those who didn't.

John....was biting my tongue over your story about the kid's cell call received during school hours from his father in Iraq.  Score one for the kid for taking the heat and Thumbs Down [tdn] for a school administartion for not giving him a pass this once and setting up acceptable procedures for students with similar dilemmas.

Brent.....hope hole drilled in thumb didn't ruin a perfectly good drill bit.  Dial in on school and back burner the rest.  The rest ain't goin nowhere and will be there patiently waiting for you after you finish your last course.

anjdevil....on the topic of first cars, had a 180,000 mile 1962 Rolls Canhardly, Olds 88 with the neat speedo bar that changed colors with increasing speed.  Will trailer to you my first "real" car for much needed r&r, a used !969 350-350 Vette Coupe with the Muncie close ratio 4-spd, factory side exhaust, air, leather, and the 3.55 rear end.  Covered and up on blocks in garage, piled up with boxes.  No match for your 440s or the Hemi Challenger and Hemi Chargers, but very fast (for the time) just the same.  If you had kept them.....

God bless, after you mow your lawns!  Except John who hopefully has hired a landscaper to keep his Clarendon Hills neighbors at bay.

Good Afternoon.  Not feeling well, I'll make it short and hopefully head home to some much needed rest.  Cool, prayer for your SIL.  My wife works for the *** center here and we see all too much of it.  The good news is that if they catch it early enough, most are cured.

Have had a full few days of surgery.  I think tomorrow is light, so I hope to relax a little.  Bride is having to work all week so I will have to go home and keep the children entertained till she arrives.  Perhaps a good train flick is in order.

God Bless,

Dennis

Evening all. That's a good question - I wonder how many cars an Allegheny or Big Boy could pull on a layout. Instead of watching insipid TV, I'm off to run some trolleys and trains.

Good to e-talk with you too, Sir James and thanks for the info/advice on that locomotive.  I have to figure out a few bills/projects, but I really want that engine, LOL.

Well, Doug, I'm glad there was no bomb.  Hmmm, what should I suggest that Kelly get you for your birthday?  Maybe a gold Trolley with diamond headlights (pin?) -- it would be fair, that's what I told her you were getting her for her birthday Wink [;)]

HELLO ALL

Another nice day in the 70s,we get maybe two more then down we go. It took two hours but the grass is cut and trimmed, looks nice till the summer dry season. too much $$$ to keep it watered though a lot of the neighbors do. I look at the water bill and say green grass is not worth that much to me.I prefer it but not that  much. I got banalla and peach, but no cookies, If you like ice cream come on by, maybe Brutus will be here....TTFN    S.J.

Barry seems to be on the mend.  Amazing that it was only 5 days ago!  Sounds like he'll be OK but keep him in your thoughts.  Well Chief here it is...

Sweet ain't she.  Started to tear up the corner of the layout to get some more space and scenery time.  Off to Denver tomorrow.  Have a safe night all.
