Good afternoon all,

After a couple of beautiful sunny days in SE Indiana, it naturally turns cloudy and cooler for the weekend.  We had a great time in French Lick Thursday and Friday.  Went to the Indiana Railroad Museum late on Friday after the conference was done.  The French Lick resort is nice.  There is not a whole heck of a lot to do there, but the buildings are beautiful.  The West Baden hotel has been restored very well.  A lot of the detail work is amazing.  My wife attended all the sessions with me, which made them nicer as well.  We had plenty to eat during the day, so much that I did not eat any supper at all.  The dining car for breakfast on Friday had bagels, bacon and cereal along with milk (which tasted kind of watery) and juice.  Omelets and other items were available as well.  Had the regular fare on the diner this morning.  May stay up to watch the IRL race tonight.

RT, hang in there.  I have been thru rough times as well.  It makes you appreciate the good ones when they happen.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Almost forgot.  We had an earthquake in the Hoosier land.  I never felt a tremor, but Lucas was up because the dog started barking five minutes before it hit.  My wife's sister's house got a crack in their foundation and they live near Bloomington.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Maybe a blood/sugar test..to see if the engineer was under the influence of sugary substances.  Banilla was probably partially to blame.

Bad coughing spell.  15 minutes of coughing so hard I could hardly breath.  Watching Untouchables. Old movie but still good.  Guess no word from Barry B.  OGR has no update, last I checked.  Got garden beds fixed.  Now to plant the plants.  Started raining so did not do any planting.  Then it stops.  Hope all sleep well.

Good evening Y'all!  Glad to hear of all the fun at York.  Sorry about Barry, hope he is feeling better.  Not much time to post.  Watched "Phantom of the Opera" with wife.  Have seen it a few times on Broadway.  For those who have seen the play, the movie is pretty true to it.

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend,

Dennis

Hey guys.  Another good day at the show.  Picked up some goodies.  Barry's son is posting on OGR and really hasn't said much one way or another.  If I see anything I'll post it here.

Back home after a whirlwind shopping tour with family.  We went to Cabellas and picked up some cold-weather sleeping bags.  GameBoy and I also bought some hiking shoes for scouts.  First Gor-Tex shoes I've owned, but a buddy swears by them.  GameBoy and ArtGirl got to take turns at the indoor archery range there as well and both did pretty well.  ArtGirl is getting glasses next week - ordered them Thursday, so she did VERY well, since she later said she couldn't see the red dot!  Earlier, we went to the Kirkwood Hobby Station and spent a Christmas gift card I found left over the other day.  I bought a S. C. Ruffey car for Thomas and also some farm people for ArtGirl's dairy farm.  I nearly bought a dairymen's loading platform for her farm as well, but I knew we were going to spend a couple hundred at Cabella's, so I decided I better wait on that.

No trains today, I guess.  But, since it rained all day, I won't be mowing or doing outside work tomorrow -- therefore, I will hook up my new equipment tomorrow for sure.

Hope all have had a great Saturday!  Doug, I agree, I suspect that a little too much ROOTBEER might be involved in that accident?!  Maybe a Rootbeer Float with Banilla and a big, soft, warm chocolate chip cookie?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

GOOD EVENING ALL

My train friend dropped off the new MTH catalog this afternoon and I noticed a good size gap betweem the chassis and trucks on many engines. Now to me they are toy trains but this subject has used pages of post in the past on another forum. Twill be interesting to see if it starts again since from the pictures it is very noticeable. I forgot to mention the train store had two scale Hudsons with different drivers and tenders. I am sure glad they were MTH or I would have had to play lets make a deal. Wife just got home from gr./sons hockey game. They lost. Ah but her Red Wings won last nite. Everyone play nice, banilla is ready at my house,,S.J.

Sounds like a nice time, JEF.  Sir James, I'm on the way!  Had to get the kids to bed.

LHS had two model kits of houses in 1/50 scale that are assembled from small clay bricks.  I've managed to find one of them online, but only from England!  The directions and wording on the box were given in English, French, Spanish and German at the store.  They looked very cool!  I might have to go back for them both....

Good morning all,

This is way off topic, but I have to say it anyway,"Danica, Danica, Danica!!!"  I stayed up late to watch a live feed of the race on Indycar.com.  Her team made a timely pitstop and played a fuel conservation run that put her in the lead with three laps to go.  Maybe not pretty, but it still goes in the record books as a win.  I would have preferred Sarah to get the first win, but now nobody will be asking her when she will get her first win.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Overcast & 59 here in the Mid-Atlantic region...might catch some thunder-boomers that are splitting Virginia right now.  When I saw the DANICA headline, I immediately imagined a certain Hoosier dancing around in his fruit-of-the-looms.  Also from the nation's middle, it looks like Crystal Lake Yards is out of the running for the E.H.Harriman award til next year.  Similar occurance on the Susie-Q yesterday, as two passenger coaches plummetted to the earth...wasn't me.

Nice visit with John, Mitch, and Brent.  I always enjoy talkin' rail.

Morning all. Beautiful sunrise. Jim, I think you've got it. Too much rootbeer. Though it wasn't my fault - it must've been the tremblor. Fife, I have to re-set the safety clock to 0 days without incidents.

Took the middle boy and two buddies out for his birthday last eve. Drove a long ways to a gigantic arcade / restaurant he loves. Funny how better my gas mileage is when I stay at 55. Well, four hours later, they amassed almost the 7,000 'tickets' needed to claim a real electric guitar as a prize. Of course, I kept recharging their cards until they made it. I figure it cost almost $100 in real money.Wink [;)]

MORNING ALL

Sunny and 50s going to 70s today.AAHHH

Pa.John-yes I did see the M10000 and noticed they finally got to the brown nose version. I have the Railking w/extra coach running on my El, a just right fit. I wanted brown nose the first time though. Its a strange peice as they placed the second motor in the obs. car controlled by the reverse unit in the front car/engine and then made the wires too short to stay plugged in. They will unplug sometimes and I have wide curves ,which of course stops the rear motor.

I did run some trains yesterday, ate at one of the coney places, had usual heartburn, all is well.

Enjoy your sunday, and god bless us everyone,,,,S.J.

Good morning - well, faucet appears to be repaired, no more leaks.  Will run trains today, maybe right after lunch.  Need to set up basketball hoop for kids, too.  Finally, need to decide what to do about window and a couple holes in siding that I think (hope) were caused by some hail.  TTYL

Mornin' Fellas.

As has been noted JohnF, Mitch, and Fife stopped by yesterday to run some trains and partake in some food. Mitch what was that dip? Yummers!

And yes, we had a derailment. Was backing the GP-30s down the transition line and some construction material (styrofoam blocks) were interferring with the track which resulted in the GP-30s falling into the path of the C&O Streamliner... knocking two passenger cars off the layout, no damage was done but it caused a heart palpatation for a second.

This morning I finished powering the second level. Had an interesting problem (a power wire was disconnected causing a short (although the missing wire wasn't touching anything) Confused [%-)] but once that was solved I had the GP-30s pulling 15 freight around the loop... man that was neat! Wish I had it done for yesterday. Identified a couple trouble spots that need some corrective action - a grade to flat spot needs some grading, and a switch isn't throwing (I think the switch machine isn't connected to the throw). Will take care of those as time permits.

What happend to Barry at York? I just caught the news from earlier????

Morning all.  Back from Sunday School.  Did not feel like going to Early Church.  Probably would have gotten to hot and had coughing spell.  Pam went and said it was hot in there.  Need to turn on the A/C.  Had some rain early this AM.  Sun out now.  Hope it "builds" for some heavy rains this PM.  Might run some trains today. Shock [:O]  Might plant garden too.  Marty, I keep monitoring OGR too.  Not saying much about Barry.  NS engine is only one step in getting into the Southern Brotherhood.  Sweet ice tea and grits are the other two steps.  Whistling [:-^]

I keep telling you, IL. and OH. did not have an earth quake.  Was Buckeye letting off some "natural" gas. Shock [:O] He is full of it anyway.  Evil [}:)]  Later

The dip was half a jar of Harry & David's Pepper & Onion Relish blended with an 8 oz package of Cream Cheese. Super easy and really good.  It helps that there's a Harry & David's in the Gettysburg Outlets, not too far to go pick up ingredients.

Good evening all,

It was a cloudy rainy day in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Fifedog, it's Haynes or nothing at all for this Hoosier.  I went to the YMCA for weights and did some shopping.  Other than that, it was a pretty quiet day.  Helped Lucas with his homework.  We had cinnamon rolls on the dining car for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

John, yes we did forget about a picture. With so much excitement it's easy to see why we missed it. We could always blame it on Fife's failing memory... btw it only took 24 hours for him to remember what he forgot! Wink [;)]

Not sure what happened to my post this afternoon.  Had a good morning and evening church service.  We had a very blessed nature photographer with us this morning.  His name is Ken Jenkins.  RT, he has a gallery in Gattlinburg called Gallery Beneath the Smoke.  He visits several times a year and it is always great to see him and his work.  Tonight, we had a rep from the Southern Baptist Convention giving a award for most baptism in a year.  While it is great to be recognized, we put our efforts into changing lives.

I have been keeping prayers for Barry.  Have not seen any reports on his current health, but that is not unusual as it takes a few tests and days to evaluate how much damage has been done.  Also, out of privacy issues, we will just have to wait for what his family is willing to release.

I hope you Yorkies have kept notes to report back to us when you get a chance.  I am sure the show is overwhelming and it'd take notes to remember all that you have seen.

Well, I hope everyone has a great week ahead.

God Bless,

Dennis
