A reminder for all of us; if you have a hand held, check the battery compartment often. I had a battery leak in mine but found it before there was any permanent damage. And the TMCC was still working.

Good NITE

I guess the nite people are not up yet so this is it. we had about 70 today thereabouts for the next week forecast.  Gas is still $3.45/$3.49. I let the trains do a few laps today and did a very minor repair so that was my train day. I will be helping at the train store tomorrow and friday while some of the guys are at York. They will be back loaded with catalogs. Have a good day tomorrow......S.J.

It was a beautiful day in Ohio and I was outside.  In fact, I was at Lake White south of Waverly looking at a dam.   Lake White was orginally a private lake and if you built a house, the house had to be white with a red shingle roof.   While I was on the front face of the dam walking along, I hit some loose stones and fell down the front slope.  My right leg is bruised.

Tomorrow I will be in New Philadephia and I might take a ride out to Dennison and see what is on the tracks.

When one of the neighborhood kids graduate, I have been making them a video of all their photos complete with their selection of music.   Been working on that instead of trains.  It takes five to seven hours of work to scan and compose, espceially when the photos of the kids are all "red eyed".

Looking forward to the weekend......How much longer, LAZ?

GAS - Jumped from $3.18 to $3.59.  HOW????????????  Did an offshore platform fall into the sea?  Was there a hurricane in the Gulf?  Where is the refinery fire?  Did a tanker hit the rocks?  Did we sell Alaska?  Today in the paper, someone was asking our city's mayor why she was not keeping the gas prices in check in the city.  Banged Head [banghead]

Brent, I second the thought of going up the ladder and talking to a senior management type. Never take a No from someone who couldn't give a Yes anyway! I would also tell the person about the type of attitude from the rep that you did speak with. If you have their name, all the better.

Doug, I do think those fumes are getting to you. May want to open a window or two.

Don, I hope your DCS is all you hope for. When you are done playing around, pick up the Legacy remote and really get to Railroad'n. (Just kidding) Glad you were able to have fun.

Chief, glad you are feeling better. Keep it up.

Well, I was all ready to head to the shoe store with my daughter after lunch, she pulled a fast one on me.  She wanted to go to Applebee's and then we went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some outlets for the dollhouse.  She then picks out a paper doll book and I spent the afternoon playing with paper dolls.....somethin' just ain't right about a guy playing with paperdolls!  Oh what we do for our kids!

God Bless,

Dennis

Also, Had a conversation with the Chief regarding control systems.  I finally convinced him that when you put the batteries in the controller, not to align all the ends with the little bump on the end,  the same way.  I THINK he understood.

Keep in mind, I Definetly don't want to start a flame war.  But, I just "have to tell someone" that understands.  I went out to the train room last night for about 1/2 hour.  It was great!  Did the following with my DCS controller (4.0).

- Ran the Lionel Legacy Big Boy, just really knocks your socks off with the sound and watching the side rail action!

- Ran the MTH AC4400cw engine, taking it throught its paces, did a lot of switching (also using the hand held controller)

- Ran a pair of K-Line TMCC Cotton Belts, in a lash-up, while they were "uncoupled", wanted to see how close they were matched.

- Ran an older MPC Conventional on the mainlines switching between two tracks.  (Alter voltage with the remote.)

Did all this with ONE controller.  It was great.  (I don't know maybe I'm doing something wrong?)

AGAIN NOT TRYING TO BRAG OR ANYTHING, ITS JUST SUCH A GREAT TIME TO BE IN THE HOBBY !!

Oh Yeah, remember Chief if the TV keeps going on and off everytime you try to blow the whistle you have the wrong remote, use the other one.

Don, Its just not fair that your having this much funSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio,

This is the last of this stretch of night shifts.  Pretty much just slept today, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This made up for yesterday where I only slept for about 5 hours.  I did do a little weeding before coming to work.  Hope to turn over the garden tomorrow.

CSXect- I've had the grapples before and they are tasty!  They do taste like a concord grape.  It is a novel treat.

Buckeye- You were real close to the plant where I work when you were over at Lake White.  Sometime when you are down my way you could drop by for supper.  We have a weird schedule, but the door is open.

That riding mower with the headers reminds me of a riding mower I saw once that had a small block V-8, and it was set up for tractor pulls.  It was wild.

Dennis- I know what you mean, I would play dolls with our girls but I'm glad no one ever saw me.

Got to go

May God bless

Dennis, I can't even count the number of tea parties I have enjoyed with my daughter's stuffed dolls and animals....  Oh well, she knows I love her!

Sorry, guys - Didn't get to the coffee pot earlier.  I got home and had to make a command decision to mow the front and side lawns since it is supposed to rain again tomorrow.  Will have to install the new faucet tomorrow, when it is raining.  This weekend we should have dry days on Saturday and Sunday.  So, Saturday I will pull other people's garbage out of my trees, same as EVERY DARN YEAR, and then Sunday will mow the back hill.

Package from Charles Ro is coming Friday - yippee!

Tardis is warming up, will swing by throughout the evening and pick up all who want a trip to get some icecream.  I might pick up an Italian Ice and drop it off for J&J, too!  I don't look good in a Toga, but I am entitled to wear a Kilt (MacKenzie) Whistling [:-^]  Might see if Fife or I have the better calves??? Laugh [(-D]

Night all.  Came home to a nice meal.  Wife had cooked.  Was first thing that was good to the taste in over a week.  Actually a common old hot dog with chilli [none of that Yankee beans stuff, just hot dog chilli] or a bolona and cheese [heated to melt the cheese] sandwich was all that was good to me.  Then I could not get all of that down without "giving out" and feeling full.  In fact, just ate a bag of micro-wave popcorn.  Now to bed.

OH Buckeye, in NC we learn to walk well before our kids begin school.  I guess in Ohizo, that is required after college and lots of years of work experience.  Whistling [:-^]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, but cool 38 degrees. Going up to 74 today, with sunshine.

Today is a relaxing day. Been busy the last few days. I have a few things to do around the house and then I will relax. Maybe I'll spend a few hours in the train room. Need to dust again.

You guys have a good time at York. Take pictures.

Indians are in a slump. Can't pitch or hit. Yuk.

Dining car has rolled in. Time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Mornin' Fellas.

Workin' half days today and tomorrow. Today is because I have to take Susie-Q to the doctor for some tests that will make her drowsie so she can't drive. Tomorrow is due to a shopping spree in York. Whistling [:-^]

Sounds like Chief is getting back on his feet! Thumbs Up [tup] BTW - Chilli with beans is Chilli-Con-Carne. Depending on my mood I'll make mine without beans, light on the beans, or heavy beans. They turn out differently (taste), I personally prefer light on the beans, but if making it to go over rice or on dogs then it is without beans. I also use a mixture of 1/2 ground sirloin and 1/2 hot italian sausage. Have also made it with thinly sliced sirloin (kind of like philly cheesesteak meat)... that was really good.

Don - You can teach an old dog new tricks! Thumbs Up [tup]

John - May want to rethink the toga. They can be pretty heavy. Maybe just a tunic (you have to wear one under the toga anyway. Now if you want 'Mel Brooks' it you could put on some tight and go as a Merry Man! Laugh [(-D]

Laz - Sure wish I could make the Legacy gathering. Want to check out that FEF and would be nice to talk Legacy with some Giz, but priority right now is Susie-Q. Have fun and take notes. If any handouts, can you get me a copy? (will get from you at the photo-shoot).

Doug - LOL @ phone... my grandparents used to have one of those. Do you still have the rotary dial, or is it a modern one with push buttons? Oh, and yes I've been hit with one before (sister - and yes she is still alive).

Supposed to be 78 today and 80 tomorrow! Guess I'll be wearing shorts tomorrow!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna be a nice couple of days.

cooltech - Best regards with the K-9.  "Rescued" mine back in '98, and the mileage is catching up with him...

dwiemer - I'd mutch rather step on a paper doll late at night; far better than "finding" Malibu Barbie's 5" stiletto high heel during a 3 am stumble to the lew.Shock [:O]Banged Head [banghead]

dbaker - that remote sure does a lot.  Can you turn the HOLLYWOOD sign off/on from your house?

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 70.  I probably will not be reporting in tomorrow at the usual time as I will be at a conference.  The only upside is that it will be at the restored facilities at French Lick, Indiana.  My wife is accompanying me and this is one place we had talked about visiting some time.  I finished mowing the yard and did weights at the YMCA.  We watched "Deal or No Deal" and I did some more Second Life.  One of these days I will have time for trains again.  There is a double dip of open wheel racing with the IRL at both Motegi and Long Beach this weekend.  I had the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Fife, I agree about the Barbie shoes, but the worse thing I  have found with my feet at night is a Lego block to the heal!Shock [:O]  That is pain.

Laz, wish I could join you and the guys.  Look forward to a report when you get back.  Have fun.

Chief, you are right to take it easy for a little bit.  Don't let all the town's issues get to you right now.  Besides, you have to nurse Miss Pam back to health.

Well, I am actually at work, but not much to do.  Just help out on someone else's case and then I will return home to get some layout work done.

God Bless,

dennis

Morning all. Heard a radio ad for CSX yesterday - how they're moving the nation.

Brent, kids love to show off the phone. It's the real deal.

Sorry to hear about your dog, cooltech.

Dennis, isn't the dollhouse section of Hobby Lobby a great place to browse for things one can use on the layout too?

Had 4 hours of 70 degrees yesterday - must finally be spring. Got to get out the fertilizer.

This was posted by someone on a fishing forum this AM.  Thought it was right funny.

After having dug to a depth of 10 yards last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion, that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, California scientists dug to a depth of 20 yards, and shortly after, headlines in the LA Times newspaper read: 'California archaeologists have found traces of 200
year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.'

One week later, the "Newnan Times Herald", a local newspaper in Georgia, reported the following:
'After digging as deep as 30 yards in cotton fields near Newnan in Coweta County  Bubba Johnson, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing.  Bubba has therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Georgia had already gone wireless.'

Been busy looking for work again and taking the wife to work as her car was in the shop from thursday to tuesday, releived the wife's car is back as it was too much running around!

Went over to help a friend with his layout, trying to install a bridge that lifts up, an Atlas bridge & track connecting with Lionel style tubular track. Atlas gives you track adapters with the bridge for both tubular and Gargraves tracks. Also widening the curves while we are at it, putting in 054 curves instead of 031.

Unable to get to Miamim again for any parts or train cars, will have to wait for tax check and then it is a small maybe. Sold some more scrap metal on monday morning, old wire this time & got almost $10.00, a little bit of gas money.

Going to try to update my DCS unit over the weekend, maybe my computrer will act better this time with a different cable.

Lee,

Can you adjust the baud rate on your comm port?  I think that the trouble you have been having is caused by the USB port sending data at a higher baud rate than the rate at which the TIU is supposed to receive data.  Check and see if you can change USB comm port baud rate to 9600, which is the RS232 standard rate.  That should help.

Well heres way things are now . I really want this job but heres how it lays now. Well we found a place we really liked but it needs some work (which doesn't bother us as its a $76,000 home in 2005 and its on market now for $52,000) and the sale of my mobile home fell thur so we had no money to put on it to make the purchase. So I guess if I do sell this it will be to late it was close to work and everything. It would have been perfect for us. Oh well thats the way things go for us. I'm starting to feel that this job just isn't going to work no matter how hard we try. This place hits the papers again tomorrow for 2 weeks so we will see when that is over. If its still ours I guess I have to call off the job .

RT, Hang tuff guy, with the current market conditions I would hate to be selling a property. If it don't sell is there any potential as a rental unit, taken care of by a property manager/rental agency?

For any of you guys that are also interested in the large scale(G) take a look at this guys layout in progress, I got worn out just thinking about all that digging.
