Jim,

How much time do you have? And is the convention in LA at the convention center.  I would be happy to give you a tour of our Club, and the LA Harbor area.  Especially interesting if your into intermodel.  There are a couple of train shops, but not really a big deal, you have better back there.  Could also show you the train station in LA, it is rather renowned.  In Griffith Park there is a Live Steam facility, however you would definetly want to see that in the midst of the day, and not sure what their opperating hours are.  Actually, Doug has the best facility to see in San Diego, (The Model RR Museum, Red Cars, SD Train Station).  But that's a 2 hr drive with good traffic.

Let me know when and what your schedule looks like, might be able to arrange for a BBQ, and a tour of the KC&D Railway.  (our house).

(Doug, I'm kinda having a mental block, (due to taxes), what am I missing?  Not much at Pomona anymore, RR museum in Perris, not alot, I can think of.  Regarding our open house, I have to work that week-end, UGH!  Anyway, ANYTIME your in the area I will provide a personal tour.)

Whew, weather guesser was definitely wrong ! Yesterday 99* today 94* so I am in from the yard but I did get part of what I wanted to do completed.

Don, Does Knott's still have that "Galloping Goose" that they were or had already restored? There's always Cajon Pass for railfanning, but thats a bit of a ride. When's the large scale event on the Queen Mary this year?

Let's face it, there just ain't much left out here anymore. Sigh [sigh]

If you did come down this way, aside from the Model RR Museum, there would be the carrier Midway, Star of India, as well as some other ships on the embarcedaro to tour plus the other museums in Balboa Park(aerospace, automotive, sports, natural history, art, etc.) and the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater. Some of the other things would more than likely make your significant other much happier then just seeing choochoos. Big Smile [:D]

Almost forgot, if you are here around July 4th they generally have some pretty good fireworks on the bay and they used to have the parade of lights on the bay but not sure if they still do.

Back from Dr.  Unless I keep running temps, no xray.  If I do, go xray for pnuemonia.  Still will take the same meds.  Mrs. is sick.  Sat in truck and would not go up to see the DR.  Dr. said no Z pack unless she comes up.  Now she is on couch covered, heat up and having chills.  Hard headed. Banged Head [banghead]  Going back to nap some.  Did pick up my renewal of Conceal Carry Permit.   Later.  Zzz [zzz]

Evening all

At work and the jobs are passed out.  The day cleared up and it got real nice.  The grass and trees are really greening up.  My tulips and daffodils are in full color, the apple trees, bradford pears are blooming and my oaks sprouting, all like in the past couple of days.

Don, Thank youBow [bow] for your generous offer.  I will get our itinerary and see what we can make happen.  I would love to hook up with you.

Chief-Take care, it sounds like you've got the bug that make take some time to shake.  I wonder if the fact you have a hard headed bride is a coincidenceWhistling [:-^]

May God bless

Cooltech, we don't have church meetings or a board.  We have a deacon team, but all things are done through prayer.  We don't have the in-fighting that tends to tear some congregations apart.  There are committees that check accountability, but again, no fighting.

Chief, it sounds like you are on the mend.  Hope Miss Pam will soon be.  As for carry permit, I need to renew mine, although in Georgia, your car is considered an extension of your home.  You can carry in the vehicle, just has to be in a reasonable spot, and not hidden.

Doug(maybe-a-grump), at least till his taxes are a memory, We have been to San Diego for meetings.  I hope to get back there someday soon.  We usually stay at the Del.  I did not get to venture too far, but I know we missed alot.  Although staying at the Del Coronado is pretty nice too.

Marty, Glad to see you stop by.  Hope to catch more of your posts and experience with the Legacy.  Wish I could make it to York....Oh well, someday.

GOOD EVENING ALL

Sunny 51 today but it will get warmer soon. I was wondering aimlessly around the yard today and noticed the grass is growing, with the crummy weather I wasn't ready for that yet. Going to get it anyway.

Brutus and the gang, we have a fresh supply of banilla if your ready. I'll warm up an engine or two.   S.J.

Dennis,

Hotel Del ! Now that is Hi-Rollin. Thumbs Up [tup] My sister stayed there once when she came out here for a convention. We went over to have breakfast with her prior to the start, set-up hadn't even started yet, but after seeing the breakfast prices we ended up going to a little place in town. She stayed a week with us after it was over, she and my better half will run just about 24/7 when they get together. Me, I use the museum as a respite from the chaos. Big Smile [:D]

Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed - the last thingy has locked and the stargate is operating within established parameters!  I have a whole role of tinfoil on, just in case!  Wink [;)]

Picked up a new faucet and connectors.  Undid one of the supply lines and it is fine, so won't have to solder -- dang, I was kind of looking forward to impressing everyone!  Or, catching the cabinets on fire!  or, Both!  Laugh [(-D]

Hope all are feeling better, weather is suppposed to continue to warm here and in the 70's by this weekend, yippee!  Need to mow the lawn soon or I'll have to buy a machete!

Bedtime.  Snoozed through most of CSI Miami so did not watch.

With this codiene, think I will type a post and not correct spelling.  Some words, you would laugh so hard you would cry.  Some sentences make only half sence.   That is why I am not doing those engine upgrades now.  Engine sounds would come of the motors and the speaker would be trying to move the engine [impossible but you get the point].

Have a good night's sleep.  God bless.

While working on the layout yesterday I missed judged where the drillbit was located and added a new hole to my thumb! Good thing it only penetrated the thumbnail, didn't hurt, but having a time trying to get it to stop bleeding. Had a Dr appt today for some blood work and they gave me a tetanis <sp> shot, arm now throbing in pain... think I should have just grabbed the blowtorch and cauterized it myself (Susie-Q didn't like that idea).

Since I spent 1.5 hours waiting for and visiting the Dr tonight I didn't get any layout work done. May not get much done tomorrow either. So it could be close for this Saturday...

Chief - get some rest... you need it.

Don, Tom, Doug, Buckeye - Sounds like the FOUR Stooges if you all get together... or would that be the Old Rascals (since Susie-Q swears Buckeye is really Spanky - and yes she STILL calls him that when she sees his pic on here! Laugh [(-D])

TWO BUCKEYES IN CALFORNIA = SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL

Two Buckeyes in Ca. no problem, remember we also support the Rose Bowl, have had a bunch of them here on occasion, they seem to become overwhelmed rather easy however.   Maybe it’s because of the mountains, and not much space for tractor parking, I'm not sure.  LOL

By the, way speaking of parties, since it is YORK week, I talked with John F, tonight and he is all set for a party there tomorrow night.  He even said he has some Ham Loaf, (had that from there before, local supplier, GOOD STUFF!)  However, be careful with the transporter thing a ma-jig, Three Mile Island isn’t far from there, you could end up looking like a french fry.  I'm sure he would get us all in the museum free, and tour, and probably arrange for a couple souvenir PRR surplus engines he has laying around.  (Don't let it out, but he did tell me he was doing an inventory of his stock, and had to go buy a 30 terabyte drive cause the file was so big.  He's only inventorying the TMCC/DCS/Legacy engines.  I guess he has a few on loan to Tony in DC, but didn't want to comment.  I know I will bring an extra freight pass for the return trip.)

I really feel bad for the Chief, that's along time for him to be down.  I think it’s more serious than what he is letting on.  I believe someone has probably spiked the grits silos with something.  So I found some dietetic Tofu that has a simulated Grits texture, (blended with Styrofoam, then ground on a stone wheel, expensive but probably worth it.  I sent some down to him today.  I believe he will start to come out of it within the next couple of days.

Brutus, & Fife, hope you guys can hold it together.  I keep watching the news expecting to see a story about the two of you dueling it out over your undies.

Well, I've gotta get busy, I think I'm going to go and get all the stuff I bought at York last year and put them back in the boxes.  That way I can spread it out on the living room floor and just reminisce.

Morning Folks,

No time to post. Very busy.  Late meeting last night did not get home to eat until 9:00 PM.  The craziness keeps on coming.  Reading Specialist resigned, have to interview and hire a new one...  Still have about 6 more classroom teachers to hire. Will be interviewing for Cafeteria Manager next week.  Building completion is being pushed back until May 9. Hopefully we will get to move in some time soon after that.

See ya Friday at York!

Take care

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold and sunny 27 degrees. Going up to a sunny 60 today.

Today is a busy day. I need to mow the grass. It's starting to get high. We had a frost last night, and it will have to dry off, first. Doesn't look like I'll have any train time today.

Dining car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the high 50s later on as it is chilly now.  I dragged my self to the YMCA last night and forced myself to do the weights.  Sometimes I really do not want to go there and there are times when I really do not want to go there.  Last night was one of the latter.  Wife surprised me by doing all the housework yesterday.  It was appreciated.  We watched "Deal or No Deal" last night.  I have gotten better at watching the show and doing other things (such as packing my lunch) at the same time.  I have started reading the Wall Street Journal again.  Long story, but I had forgotten how good a paper that it was.  Spent some time in Second Life again.  I have to be careful as I could see why it could become a large part of someone's life.

I do have a sad story.  There was an article in the local paper recently about a couple getting ready to celebrate their 50th anniversary.  Last night his obituary was in the paper and he died the day of the anniversary.  I do not know the details.  Their daughter was a good friend of my sister.  I will probably go to the funeral home tonight.  Nice couple who went to our church.  Some times I guess you never know when you will check out.   I always liked Reggie's (thatboy37) philosophy.  I miss his interesting viewpoint on life.  Sorry to be a bit of a downer today, but hug your spouse and kids.

I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  I had to drive by myself as my other carpool person was sick today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

anjdevil - Check out the counter at your local Texaco Quik-Mart.  They have a small assortment of cards, and you don't waste time walking thru aisles of birthday greetings at Hallmark.

As for the princesses, these 2 (two) tips: A) Get a data link for their computer, B) Let them pay for their own cellphone plans...they will "appreciate" you more.

Did that back in 1989 (dropped a speaker on my head - it was on top of my wall locker and I decided to rearrange my room without moving the speaker - bad move). I was the only one in the barracks at the time, could have been really bad.

From that point on if I'm moving something with something above my head that something above my head gets moved first. Hands are a different story. I think I need a pair of kevlar gloves that would go up to my elbows (hands and forearms are constantly getting burned, cut, drilled, etc)... surprising I still have two functioning arms, two functioning hands, and 10 functioning fingers.
