Hmm....a welders bib may work for you very well, Brent.
Fife, see, great minds think alike!. We have Gate gas stations here that have Blue Mountain cards, and I was going to run in and grab one! As for the Princess, thank goodness for T-Mobile. On her 5 faves, she racked up 10k minutes the first month!!! To 1 person!!! Costs me $80/month for everything and no more whining about the bill from Mommy!!! And I can unplug her computer from the living room.....

Long live Sunday Photo Fun!!!
Morning all. Cold here still. Son had a good birthday yesterday. Now I get to take a deep breath before our anniversary next week. I've never figured how to post a star - can someone tell me what to do?

Good Morning All
Sunny but cool start, going to get warmer from now on though.
Spanky=How much are stars worth? the Chief sent me grits to patch our street so you got to come up with something. Granma wants to go out for lunch starting to become a habit, its ok but I like her cooking better. Lots of eating places around here its just too many decisions. Maybe some trains this afternoon, who knows,,,,,S.J.

Rich, they actually still do some bloodletting. They use leaches to help re-vascularize tissue on the borders of gangrene limbs. Not the most pleasant thing to think about.
Mike, it is hard to see anyone die, but especially people who have a loving family and are well liked. It is all part of the process. As Rick Warren has said, "we are preparing for eternity", the difference is where we spend it. It sounds like a loving family and I pray for God's peace and comfort for them.
Gotta run, but I do hope that Y'all have a blessed day.

Doug, go to the top of the appropriate thread, and click on "Rate", make sure you check out the order of rating before you click one.

Gee, that sounds kinda like most of our congressman.
Brent, I haven't been bit by a drill, yet. But I have learned, the hard way, to be extra cautious when using my radial arm or table saw. Ouch !

Afternoon all.
Brent- from the work on your layout and reading the posts from the past year. I know your smart enough not to where gloves when working with a drillpress or other rotating equipment.I really do beleive you would ever do that. I dont want this to come across as sarcasam, because its not meant to be. I just wouldnt want someone to reed your post and think that it is a good idea to where gloves when working with a drill or other rotating equipment. In eight years working with the tools I have seen one laceration on an arm 8" long 1"deep 1" wide, 2 fingers pulled off and a broken arm. In all those examples a bad cut or hole drilled through a finger would have been much better or at least less painful. All because of gloves. Again I did not mean any disrespect. I just dont want to see anybody go through that pain again!

How did Don Baker get to Ohio????
Feeling better. Mrs. is too.
It just now got warm and the sun is going down.
Got some boards cut for 2nd table
88 - sorry to hear about your fingernail, ouch! That's the kind of thing I seem to do on every project. I skinned my elbow tonight taking out the old faucet, for instance. Just burns like the dickens, but I don't think a project is really done unless I can anoint it with a little of my blood, LOL You beat me to that stars statement for Tom P.
Don, I put those undies back, so I didn't think Fife would notice?! Apparently, the plan worked Sounds like this will be a great York trip for you guys - wow!!!
Buckeye - Congrats on that TAS upgrade on the docksider. Did you get the cruise control version or the other version? Sound upgrade too?
Mike, sorry to hear about that guy passing on his anniversary. Is Reggie posting on the other forums now?
Rich, we from about 32 this morning to about 70 this afternoon, very nice out right now!
Guys, you need to take all that grits talk from Sir James with a grain of salt. He loves grits! He told me that he personally put away about 100 pounds of grits in ONE year! It worked pretty well for balasting his track - looks really natural! Plus, he didn't have to add any white glue to it to get it to stick or set up!
Dougdagrump - I have a great radial arm saw story. I had one a few years ago I got at Sears (sold it to FiL because I didn't have room for it and my big tablesaw) - brother and I went down to trim a 12 foot long pressure treated board for the deck. It wasn't cutting very well at all, no matter how slow we went, and there was smoke everywhere! What a mess. We got about half way through the board and had to hit the breaker box twice. Finally we stopped it and took a break. I looked over and notice this red arrow pointing toward the doorway. Hmmm, is that the direction of feed or the end you push the board into? You guessed - we were burning through the board, pushing it into the blade from the wrong direction!
Well, it's officiall springtime in Ohio - Chuck planted his locomotive in the yard! Chuck, I always like that one!
CSX - hope you didn't do what I did with those boards, man I was so embarrassed! You sure are making progress, congrats!
Chief - glad you are feeling better, be careful, don't want pneumonia! I think you told me you had that before? I had it years ago and it was rotten! Prayers for your wife as well.
Dennis, don't let them badmouth medicincal leaches like that! Comparing them to congressmen is just below the dignity of a lowly, blood sucking, swamp mud dwelling, invertebrate...
Charles Ro shipped my TPC400 and stuff - yeah!
Doug, I wonder if one could put TMCC in one of the Percy or Thomas engines? Maybe put it in a following car and make that a permanent addition (tether) like a tender on bigger trains?
Sir James, I think I finally worked out the kinks on the Stargate. Apparently, one of the dilithium crystals had to be adjusted a little. The Cold Fusion recombinant chamber is working now and the Cameleon circuit as well (no longer appears to be a British Police Box), so I'll pick pick up the guys, including Don if he's ready, and head over for icecream in a little while. It's about 8 o'clock here, so will have to adjust and try to come out there about 3 hours ago, okay? PS - hope your doctor visit went well!
Kurt - how is the TMCC running, any luck so far?
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Brutus wrote: Buckeye - Congrats on that TAS upgrade on the docksider. Did you get the cruise control version or the other version? Sound upgrade too?
Brutus...When I inquired about the version with the cruise control, they told me that they were not making them at present. Somehow, TAS has taken over ERR components.

OK brutus pile them in,we can have banilla, chocolate chip cookies or tater chips, may even run a train or two. I liked the train sign in the yard but the smiley face scared me. Thyroid doc ask questions takes BP has blood drawn and then calls if he wants to make changes. I'm done till mid may and then its the uroligist oh you know the P dr.I have tomorrow open, but thur. and fri. I will be helping at the train store as the guys go to york. They come back for sat. because of the weekend customers. I go in early and about four some of the regulars start wandering in and then I usually leave. Just in case i'll say goodnite now,,,,S.J.
Thanks Brutus, now everyone knows my ballast trick. I've been telling them it was for the potholes.
Brutus I found 2 8' 2x4 at the bottum of pile in basement and a 10' 2x4 in parents garage only need to buy 3 8' 2x4 up to this point all wood has been recycled you could say it is a green project I am making use of what others would have thrown away or burned
only one 2x4 was too twisted to use.......not bad at all
Always wanted an animated Tardis on a layout
Well, its obvious the Chief is feeling better, (knew those California Grits would do it. Like I said, I think someone fouled their grits silo.) Glad to see him improving, not just for Mrs Chief.
I've still got this bark from the junk I had a couple of weeks ago, will be glad when that clears up. Also had a physical last Friday, everything checked out OK, except the typical. Overweight, Chloestral Up, Sugar level high. So have to go get a Ultrasound on the neck and arteries, (believe me thats better than the previous ultrasounds!), and chest X-Ray. Dr. also said to exercise more, and walk atleast a 1/2 hour per day. So started that today, the wife went with me. For some reason she got annoyed, because when we reached the 1/2 hour, I sent her home to get the car and come and get me. (I didn't want to over do it on the first day, besides I have this cough to contend with.)
Got more to post, but need to go and see what I can do to get my laptop working. Have a good evening, hopefully will be back later.
Brutus, I will be ready.

Thanks for info - did you get that sound adapter too then? I wonder why they don't offer a sound UPGRADE for these since many don't like that little "toot" whistle??? I think I will upgrade one of the docksiders too, just as a fun project anyway! Maybe get the HWX upgraded for birthday?
CSX - I made a big, heavy duty chest of drawers out of recycled 3/4 inch plywood for my Dad for his reloading equpment. He still overloaded it, LOL The sides bowed out a little, so then the drawers didn't want to work right. Fixed it by drilling a couple holes on either side and running a cable through, then tightening it to pull the sides back in. Looks a little funky, but hey, it's a big, cheap tool storage anyway. Laz or John would probably give me a C-, but it works and didn't cost me a dime, just some time.
On the way, Don, Doug, Kurt and Sir James!
PS - can't wait to get those secret documents from you know who about you know what!
Chuck: Looks like decorating is done for the summer! Time to get some drinks with the little umbrellas out!
Brutus: Haven't run the geep since the break-in...Been working on the layout. Stain/varnish on edgeboards complete, paint on edges of sound board, need to finish sanding/tweeking radius of control panel to fit into cut out on board. Jig saw tears edges of the 1/8" plywood...better to cut large, and sand down to exact size. Hopefully install permanent track this week.
Chief: Get better already. Prayers for you and your Bride.
Met with 3-yo's Director of Pre-school today for interview (more of information session) on details for the upcomming preschool year to commence in September. No suprises.
MIL visit looming....due in Thursday.....Duh duh.........duh duh.........duh duh duh duh.....
Kurt
Edit: Brutus: Awaiting visit...Children's eyes covered.
Hey guys, in honor of this Great Day,
Q: What two groups HATE to file their taxes?
A: Men and Women!
Kurt, how is that thin wood taking the varnish? Do you nead to sand a little between coats?
Brutus wrote: Doug, I wonder if one could put TMCC in one of the Percy or Thomas engines? Maybe put it in a following car and make that a permanent addition (tether) like a tender on bigger trains?
Jim, I remember that sometime back on the other "O" forum there were a couple of people who upgraded Thomas to TMCC using a BEEP board. I don't think the sound upgrade would fit, and I believe his last addition was a lantern style headlight. You mite try searching their 3R archives to see if it is still there.
My radial experience came as a result of ripping and the anti-kickback pawls were binding so tried to reach around to clear it and missed, but the saw blade didn't. It did a real nice job of trimming off about half my thumbnail and a little meat. The ER nurse took one look at me walking in with my hand wrapped in a bloody towel and I quote "Power tools, huh?".
McDonalds, 53yo today !
Doug your trying my number a couple of years ago I tried to make 2 thumbs out of one with a table saw.
I'm heading to sc in morning to get finger printed and to check a couple of places out. will talk to you all thursday night most likely
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

To bed. Feeling better. Got meeting tomorrow afternoon with Progress Energy [Power Company] and Time Warner. They want me to do something for them. Usually I'm asking them for help. Plan on staying in until then. Will be my first "official" outing since last Thursday AM. Maybe some tains as not a lot of codiene on me now.
RT, each time you post, I'm waiting for you to say this is "it". "Its final and I'm on the way to the new job." Then we will a party. Good luck and safe trip.
Might get some very light frost and then into the 70's.
Good night and God bless.
Had a very rewarding experience tonight. Had some problems with the wireless connection on my laptop. New I needed to reset the WEP key, but couldn't get it done. Ended up reseting the entire router, had some really great instructions provided by Linksys. First time every went through the on line help that went that well.
Have two shows this weekend, then went to get a haircut today, and the window and/or regulator went out. Actually smoked! So have to take it into the shop tomorrow, estimate is in the $400 to $500 price range. That stinks. (Doug, I'm thinking its getting close to the time where I need to send the Van away on a cruise, say to China, occupying about 1 cubic foot.)
Sure looking forward to hearing about all the York News!! Espcially the personel changes. I imagine there will be a lot of changes now that the focus is back on track without the legal battles. Saw some pictures of the British engines, can't say it really is something I am going to run out and buy. HAS ANYBODY SEEN OR DO THEY PUBLISH A YORK DIRECTORY? That sure would be useful!!!
Well tell tomorrow have a good day, keep the healing processess moving.
God Bless
Chief: Glad you're feeling better!
Brutus: 1/8" Birch plywood with a Luan B-side Brent recommended. Bends nicely...33" diameter is a bit tight...Bound up a bit. Takes stain and varnish nicely. I used a hand rubbed poly finish, sanded with a scotchbrite pad for varnish between coats. I had the poly left over from the finishing job I did on 3-yo's chair.
Doug: What about putting the sound system in Annie, and run a tether? That should read from the command module right? So you can hook up different cars, and signal the command module for the sound.
