Well, then that wasn't a job worth having?  Do you think John Wayne would put up with that junk?  Well, do ya?  Seriously, just postpone the "application of rule" and call a meeting of the board to ascertain what latitude the adminstrator "enjoys".  There must be a middle way here.

The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew,
Though justice be thy plea, consider this,
That, in the course of justice, none of us
Should see salvation: we do pray for mercy;
And that same prayer doth teach us all to render
The deeds of mercy. I have spoke thus much
To mitigate the justice of thy plea;
Which if thou follow, this strict court of Venice
Must needs give sentence 'gainst the merchant there.

I guess I never thought of John Wayne as being an education advocate. A good 'ol cowboy and a tough guy in Hollywierd but not on the local school board. Might have been some fun meetings :) Please check your six shooter's at the door and don't spit on the floor as this is prom weekend!

No toy trains ran today but I haven't forgot them. Boys still got banilla if you want to make a trip in the rain, Otherwise goodnite to all the pets and Chewy,,S.J.

When I posted earlier, I said I had been in education 45 years. It's  going on 47 this fall. I won't go into any details about how much things have changed in those 46 years except to say that problems that used to be midddle school and high school have now filtered up to Junior College, College, and University level

'nuff said. I could be on my soap box for hours about this but don't wan't the thread locked either!!!!

Good evening all,

Friday was an absolutely beautiful in SE Indiana.  Today was absolutely horrible.  Guess which day the YMCA gave away trees, which needed to be planted almost immediately?  Nothing they could do about the weather, but it made for a long day.  I got two tulip poplar and eight Norway spruce to replace trees I lost in the drought last year.

Fortunately I have some great news.  (Radio narrator voice, "When we last left you, the big question was,'Will Lucas be able to sing in the musical, and if he does, will he be standing at the end?'")  Lucas not only performed, but he did a great job.  His timing on the lines was perfect, and he was really enthusiastic on stage.  To be able to see him on stage after all he has been thru, it is truly a feel-good story.  We have been blessed.  We went to both performances and there was a good sized crowd both nights.

Thanks to all who commented about the 500.  It is truly a great experience and I wish all of you could be there at least once.

I had bran muffins on the dining car this morning.  No YMCA work today as the tree planting did me in.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It has been awhile since I have posted here.  I've been real busy with school and work.  Haven't had time to work on the layout, but I did manage to take the Christmas layout down last month.Big Smile [:D]  I can't wait until summer, as it has been a rough semester.  I will finally be able to work on the layout and hopefully get the Probe going again. I hope everyone is doing well.  Where is tmcc man?

Orderd a TPC400 and cable along with some more track.  Then, I took my son out "on the town" and let him buy a video game with the money from some I traded in.  That wasn't fair for the daughter, so I bought her one too.  I let him get a comic book as well, with "his own" money (that seemed to come out of my pocket Wink [;)])  Then we went out and got a couple sandwiches for dinner, wifey calls as we are eating some banilla cones and wants to know where we are going to eat dinner?  D'oh!  Oh well, had a great moment when my boy pulled his only $2 out and went up to buy us the desert with his own money - "I'm buying, Dad".  I ended up sweetening the pot, but it made me proud!

Wife just got home and turned off my movie Sad [:(]

Brutus,

          What game did your son get?  I took Fatal Inertia ( thought it would be like Jet Moto, but isn't at all) in last Monday, and I rolled the credit onto GTA IV.  Can't wait for the 29th!

Morning!

They should give some latitude for the children with family serving.  If not, I expect the other 'rules' to be followed to the letter.  But we know that's not the case.

The only recorse here is to get the media involved, and get some latitude on the rule.

People in leadership roles should lead, not just follow rules...sometimes there are exceptions to the rules, and leaders are impowered to think.

Mike:  Great news on Lucas, and his performance.  Wasn't there some rule bent here?

Busy day yesterday...Bride wanted to celebrate good review at work!  So she kept the family busy ALL day.  Did get to listen to the wings on the car radio!  The Crackberry came in handy for the final scores!

Church today.

Today is a relaxed day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax in the train room for a few hours. I have to do some cleaning and putting things away. Need to run trains.

Nascar finally had a good race last night. Chevy finally won. # 48.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Mornin' boys.  Where are the English?  For weather, same as S.E.Ohio... Wrong Chevy with an 8 won in Phoenix last night...  May try to go out and mow the weeds,err I mean lawn later this AM.  Train show was okaaaayyyyy.  Plenty of modular clubs there, running plenty of trains, but not that many vendors, and only a handful of tables with 3-rail products.  My everloving bought me a B & O 50' double-door boxcar (Pecos River Brass) for $40.  I had my Chessie freight car reference book, and the manufacturer nailed it.  When I put it on the layout, it looked fabulous...so wasn't a waisted trip afterall.  Our spouses probably wonder how we could get all jazzed over a brown boxcar, but I put a premium on a good looking piece of rolling stock, just like I do a structure....kinda like finding a missing puzzle piece.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Looked out this morning and we  are getting wet snow. Not sticking as the temp. is 34 and expected to go into 40s. 57 is suppose to be the average.

Today is the last TTOS show until fall so I am going. Each month I have been taking a dozen  1980s Model Railroaders to leave for anyone who wants them. grabbed about 20 for today. I mark each issue "FREE" on the cover. I am happy to let people have them but I don't want some one who will try to sell them taking them.

Brutus showed up last nite for ice cream in his underwear,said it was a transporter "malfunction". Hmm sounds like something I've heard before.  Its sunday,may god bless us everyone.,,,,,S.J.

Oh Chief better stay away from the wife, don't want to catch whatever it is you gave her.

Morning all.  Feeling better.  Wife is still sick but not as bad as I was.  Funny how computer experts are not always experts.  Renewed anti-virus for laptop.  It sent download to desktop.  Called the company [who knows where] and explained.  They sent me a download.  Downloaded but did not change the expriation date.  Well, they emailed a removal tool and patch to fix.  I found a section where you could change certificate number.  There was a different certificate number for the renewal.  So, I loaded the new certificate, followed the prompts and it worked.  Did not have to go through all their garbage.  Sun is out.  Suppose to turn cooler by night.  Have a good day.

The diversionary thread idea didn't work.  It was deleted almost immediately, so maybe there is a hint there. ???   Boy Doug you sure opened up a can of worms with that one !!

Who would have imagined the day, when a child receiving a phone call from a parent serving in war zone, would be controversial?  Evil [}:)]Whistling [:-^]

Got some of my switches figured out with the lights, kinda came to another conclusion also.  Noticed that IF I have two switches on the same controller, that the brighteness seems significantly lower.  Thought it may be how it was wired, now I'm thinking that its more related to the voltage coming across the two switches.  Need to work with it more, sww what I can do.

Not to be controversial, but do you run your trains running clockwise or counterclockwise ?  Just wonderin' ??   Mine are clockwise, even though I'm left handed.

HI GIZ,

  Beauty of a day yesterday hit74.  this morning 47.  Worked 3 .5 hours yesterday cleaning up flower bed took out whole pick up truck of debrise.  Went TROUT fishin at 500Pm til 8.  Caught and released 10 whilst BRO caught and released 8.  Could have caught more but for some reason they were bitting real softly.  Even though we are using 2 lb. test still had trouble feeling the bite.  Oh well, great fun and biggest one I caught was 13 inch rainbow nice and fat.  I also caught one that looked like it was bitten by a snapper turtle on top o head.  Had a nice diamond shape taken out of head about a half inch deep.  Had outdoor fire, dogs and burgers and a few OL MILs, just ideal.  Today No FISHIN going to watch Masters.

  No trains last nite maybe today?

B GOOD or B GONE.

dbaker - I run them both ways.  On my new layout section, it takes 4 movements to "turn" the entire train, adding some switching interest (and a little skill) to operating my layout.

laz - That certainly was one tough trout.  I would have put him back too.

Don, my guess is that it was considered Off Topic.

Good morning, Potters!  Sir James, you need to tell everybody my business?  Laugh [(-D]  Well, joke's on you, those weren't my tighty whities! I found them tied to a lamp-post at a brief stopover near PA  Whistling [:-^]

Kurt - sounds like a busy day to me.  I agree with you 100 percent.

Apparenlty my plans for today are off the board as we need to install some shelving in the daughter's room.  She has filled the entire floor of her room with stuffed animals.  I suggested using a stapler to just mount them on the walls, but this was met with severe silence.  I'm just trying to keep it simple, you know?

Happy Birthday to Doug Murphy's Bride, who is now my age!  Happy B-Day [bday]  I'll be older again in about 7 months, though.  I hope she liked the trolley!  (I suggested a gold trolley with diamond headlights).

Camelback sold for $405, so I didn't win it.  I saw it was gonna hit $300 when I went to bed, so just let it go.  Looks nice, though.

Glad you are feeling better Chief.

Laz - sounds like a great time to me!  Do you throw back all those trout, or do you keep some?

Fife, my trains require a 5-finger controlled elevated reverse move right now...

Morning Chuck, Buckeye and Jim!  Jim - those are sometimes the hardest courses.  Will they have an oral presentation instead?

There's a strange orange object in the sky this morning .......... could it be the sun? We have not had clear skies in over a week, hopefully our monsoon season is over, the ground is totally saturated and the rivers and creeks are bank full. The weather guessers are saying 70 by Wed., I'll believe it when I experience it.

Stopped at Hobby Haven yesterday and left with over 50 Arttista figures! We use lots of D56 bldgs. on our layout and have used there giant people, the giants are now gone and have been replaced with scale people. It looks MUCH better. Over the years we have purchased Arttista figures but it's been a slow process, they aren't cheap but I believe they are the best looking people out there. Our next project will be to populate the passenger cars, I loaded up with lots of cheap seated passengers a year ago -- now I just need to pull the shells off and get those people glued to their seats!

Need to go for a walk, now where's that tube of sunscreen :)

Inner loop CW, outer CCW.  My inner loop is the freight loop with easier access to the yard.  I usually have a passenger consist going on the outer while switching freights around.

BRUTUS,

  I haven't kept a trout in 15 years or more.  We use either ultra lite fly rods 6 ft. amd a number 3 weight forward line or 5 foot ugly sticks with 2lb. test line.  We bend over the barbs on the hooks so not to injure fish and makes releasing them easier.  Loads of fun!  I like throwing them back to catch em next week.  If you took em there wouldn't be anything to catch, cept a cold.

  FIFE, yep there are some BIG SNAPPERs in this creek here.  Friend of mine catches them and makes turtle soupDinner [dinner].  Last year he caught 68 snappers, biggest was 38 lbs.  Looked like a man hole cover.

  MARTY, will see you at the LEGACY Meeting on friday morning.  I'll be there closer to 9 oclock unless we get moving quicker here.  I'd like to leave for 7 but wife wants to eat breakfast at DENNYs on RT 30.  So gotts please her first.

Lunchtime at work!!!

Inner Loop counterclockwise, outer loop clockwise.  Some of the operating cars define which side to look at where.

Laz-Snappers are a tough bunch.  I've seen some very large ones around here also.  A friend of mine goes noodlin, (probing creek and river banks for catfish) and when you mention snappers he gets a little white, must bring back a bad memory!

Later

May God bless

Hi all, Been away on holiday. Went to Jamaica. I was reading my copy of CTT on the beachSmile [:)].

Still managed to pick up some gear for the layout though. Got a couple of US spec. multi sockets.

Had a lot of US channels on the TV at the hotel. What's with all the adverts for medication?? Some are really funny when they start listing all the side effects..Big Smile [:D].

Afternoon all.

Nick,

 I detest all of those so called reality shows, kinda wants to make me puke. I think CBS has really sunk to the bottom of the barrel with their latest offering, Ultimate Fighting. I look at that Censored [censored] as the gladiatorial fights, so whats next throwing somebody to the lions. Disapprove [V]

Getting mitey close to 100* here already as well as dry as a popcorn toot and windy. I need to cut the grass but with these conditions it is to much of a fire hazard. They say it will be much cooler tomorrow so I'll stay in and goof off til maniana.

What's with TBS ? Was clicking around and they have on the Cubs/Phillies game, don't they do the Braves games anymore ?
