The only problem I can see is the refilling as the closest faucet is the kitchen and that is a good 50 feet away. Can't I just turn on the water supply, open the hot water faucets and purge the air that way?

Open a nearby faucets, and with an air compressor with a cleaning tool (lever activated air tip), wrap a towel around the tool and the pipe to seal it, and open the air to blow the water out of the lines thru the faucet.  This will keep the water away from your joints, when soldering or gluing.

Don't turn on the heating element until you have the Water Heater near full...you may burn it up.  Refill the water heater form the supply lines, you don't need to open the faucet until it's full to purge any air.  I'm not sure about the Annode.

Morning all,

A beautiful day here, crisp, sunny, and high 60's predicted.

Son is failing math again and his lack of concern for this is always amazing to me. He thinks he does not have a problem - I guess he will figure it out if he ends up in summer school or night school (our HS runs a night school - allows students who have to repeat a subject to do so and not lose momentum in their standard curriculum). We are letting him find his own path on this this time. We'll see what happens.

Getting ready to leave for York next Tues morning early - probably on a MD-80 on American!Might have to walk?

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Regards, Roy

Kurt, if you are eating Kimchee, I hope you have a lot of space between your house and the neighbor's.  That stuff STINKS!  Could never get past the smell to have a taste.

Brent, not sure how old your water tank is, but if it is older than a few years, have you thought about replacing it?  If you were to replace it, you may want one of those "tankless" water heaters.  The guy I am helping move had it done and it was not much more than a standard tank replacement.  He is a associate pastor, so his income is not a lot.  His is Rennai I believe.  That would save lots of space and also, they are supposed to save on utility bill as they use less energy.

Well, here I wait for the next case.  Hope it comes along soon as I have a "camping trip" to some friends of ours with my son.  I think he'd be dissapointed if we missed it.

Hope Y'all have a great weekend.

God Bless,

dennis

Dennis - I have looked into the tankless systems and they are promising. I would have to determine what size we would need, and then get authorization from the Purchasing Department, probably would require the request be completed in triplicate without carbon copy... The tank looks rather new, but that can be deceiving. I've not looked for an install date yet, just thinking that moving it would be a heck of a lot cheaper initially... but if we go tankless it may save on the electric bill and would make the space available for the new room larger... guess I have to discuss with the project coordinator... Sigh [sigh]

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy & 59 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  The teenaged children are all headed out in separate directions this evening...what a nice present.

Roy - carefull about letting the boy pick a path.  I have found that a firm grasp around the back of the neck works best for "helping" to make good choices.

j & j - The Indy 500 has no equal in pre-race hype, but I think the open-wheelers at Texas Motor Speedway put on the best race, every year.  As a NASCAR fan, I detest the recent cookie-cutter 1.5-2 miler tracks that have been built over the past decade (more than likely to accommodate other series), but I'd find them more interesting if there were a couple of "companion" weekend events.

Hello Fife:

I know cost is a consideration but I don't understand why there haven't been new super speedways built.  I would love to see a 3+ mile oval.  Let the cars go fast.  In addition, a bigger track would mean a bigger infield, allowing for the construction of a road race course which would allow for multiple events during a race weekend.

Or maybe I just don't know how to get it.

Afternoon.  Reclinerizing all day.  Took me 2 hours to shave and shower.  No energy.  No appetite.  Fever is still 101?????  Coughing up chunks, YUCK.  Breathing not bad.  Do get chilled some.  Missed two great days.  80's and sunny.

Real sad news.  Sheriff has to be put to sleep.  He has some type of cancer.  He is not even 4 years old.  Frankie is real torn up over it.  Told him that that was the only draw back of having pets.  They don't live a long as we do.  Sad thing on this one is he is not old at all.

Back to recliner and sleep.  Wish felt like running trains.  I'd probably have "head-ons" as meds mess with the mind.  Later

I am sorry to hear that Chief.  I feel for you.  If you are still running a fever, you should stay in bed.

Take care,

Good afternoon all,

For right now, IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s.  Chief, sorry to hear about Sheriff.  Roy, I feel your pain on the math issue.  Same deal with Lucas.  JohnandJulie13 and Fifedog, in my humble opinion, there is only "The Race", the Indy 500.  I enjoy the other races, including the other IRL races, F-1, and NASCAR, but I went to my first 500 when I was seven.  Only missed in 1977, not my choice ( I still cuss Hanover on that one), but 16th and Georgetown is my favorite place in the world.  I always tell people when I interview I will work 364 days out of the year, but the one day I will not work is the day of the 500.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Chief...I think you ought to see a doctor, if you haven't done that yet. That doesn't sound good. No fever is.

Sorry to hear about Sheriff. That is too young. I know the feeling that Frankie has.

Mike C..... I have watched or listened to, every Indianapolis 500 race, since I was a kid. Never miss it. I like Nascar, but THE race is the Indy 500.

Chief, so sorry for Frankie's dog.  Really hurts.  As for you, if you have had a fever for 3 days, time to get seen.  Too much bad stuff out there and the quicker you get it taken care of, the better.

Roy, I am no expert on kids, so I won't give any advice....but I will take it all in as I know I will have to face similar circumstances down the road.  So far, they have shown great learning abilities, but, they both can get a case of the "Attitude".  That is when we have a come to Jesus discussion.  Seems they get a whole new revelation with a few swats to the posterior.

Well, with any luck, I am about done.  Time to go prep for a night on the ground.  Think I will take some pre meds to help my back stay in line.  At least when I go hunting, I am too busy trying to stay warm to worry about my back.

cheapclassics - The Indy 500 is in your backyard, so your allegiance is undertood.  And, of course, there's Jim Nabors....

Chief - Best wishes, all the way around.

j & j - I guess my point is, I hate that NASCAR takes a date away from Darlington, kills Rockingham, perpetually threatens Martinsville, in favor of the more boring (read aero-dependant) speedways.

Afternoon all,

Chief- Be careful, drink fluids to keep hydrated.  Too bad about Sheriff, I still miss my Sue and it is almost a year since I had her put down.

Brent- you can purge the tank to any hot tap.  As far as the tankless systems, they do save money in situations.  They can provide unlimited hot water at a given rate.  Once you exceed the rate of the system to raise the water temp to the desired level the water will not be as hot as desired.  A friend installed one at their church and I am assessing their results to see if we might do the same.

I won a reverse relay 695 on ebay.  Not quite a bargin, but it will allow me to do a reverse loop, someday.

May God bless

Jim

Chief....Please make an appointment with my receptionist ASAP, so Dr. Buckeye can treat what ails you.  How can you be sick?  The Mayor of Roseyville can't be sick, there are too many things for you to do.   Sorry to hear about the Sheriff.

Roy.....How can your son not like math?  Are you sure he's your son?  BTW, while you are walking home from York, you are more than welcome to stop at Roger's Corners.

Mike C...... It is truly the greatest spectacle in sports!!  Sitting in the first curve and seeing them roar down the front stretch is awesome.  When I attend, I park in downtown Indy and take the shuttle to the track.  So much easier than driving.  Now if they had a light rail system...............  BTW, the race is better on the radio than the TV, IMO.

Sad news.......I've been invited to a black tie affair.  Maybe the Governor will be there or some other notable personalities, like the Hooters Girls.  Do any of you GUZ have an hints on how I should act at this gala event?

TGIF..............Laz, I want to go fishing.

Hello Buckeye:

With your personality, you do not need to worry about the black tie event.  I attend about a half dozen of these types of things each year and there is no reason to feel daunted.  You will find that many of the people there also do not attend these events regularly and they will be very happy to have someone like you to talk to.   Most of these events are usually pretty laid back.  Enjoy.

Awake agin for a few minutes.  Right eye is getting a lot better.  Now to shke this fever.  Might feel like trains tomorrow.  Stayed in all day except to go get garbage cart and pickup newspaper.  Think that is a first for me for a long time.  Got meeting Monday PM about animal control for County.  SPCA thought they were going to run all the shelters and County pay them.  Not working that way so now they are acting just like the SPCA.  Trying to claim the County is not doing right.  The fact is, the SPCA has been reigned in by County and local Police.   Thanks for all the good wishes for Frankie.  Back to sleep.  God bless.

Prayers for Frankie and family.  It's tough.

Chief, hope you pull through over the weekend.  I'm usually sick on the weekends and just feel tired, but able to work during the week - is that one of Doug's pesky Laws?

On the way, Sir James - Been over at Don's house and that Pina Colada icecream is pretty smooth!  Great floor show, too!  I'll pick up Kurt!  Doug is busy this weekend testing that new trolley!  LOL

Well, everyone else is asleep so, Brutus, I can join you all for some of that Pina Colada mix. Yum.

I'm sorry for the passing of Sheriff - too young. Jon, thank you for honoring that veteran.

I have just the tie for Buckeye - it lights up and spins.

Took the bride out tonight for the beginning of her birthday celebratory weekend. Big spender that I am, she picked out some Skittles and a pair of hoop earings at Target and then we went off to her new favorite watering hole for some beverages. I fear we are becoming 'regulars' - no one has shouted 'Norm' to me yet though.

Roy, I am so there with you. Daughter is absolutely funking math and thinks bohemian-style it will all work out. No - it won't - without some extra work.  I take some comfort by wiser men who have gone before me on this forum though.

Mike C, I was fortunate to go to the 500 once in 93 or 94 - drove all day, sat in one of the far corners. It was one of the greatest sports thrills of my life - along with the Kentucky Derby, where my companion-who-was-a-girl won just enough to pay my speeding ticket on the way home.
