 Good evening all,

Just checking in to try to keep up with all that's going on.  Don, nice job on the Deer and figures.  Spent the day at the museum, neck is sore from sitting at the computer all day, trifocals make you tilt your head back to look at the screen.  Guess I have to get a higher chair. Smile Hopping to get some of the TCA photo collection on line early next year.  Nasty weather on the way for tomorrow, maybe?

LOL, Brutus.  Watching A Christmas Story for the 2nd time this evening whilst running trains. Yep, bride is away -- on a 'silent' retreat.

Rich, got the box.  All OK.  Have not had time to open.  Back from reception and went to sleep.  Both ears, upper teeth and throat hurt.  Eyes watering.  Think I got a bit of a cold.  Caught cat in trap while I was gone.  Wife heard it meow.  Cat is out of trap. Banged Head  Think we now have a big cat to feed.  She is making it a barn cat.  Told her she had to take it to vet for shots.  Off to bed.  Tomorrow.

Evenin' Boyz & Girlz,

Good news on one of my Christmas cars, finally was able to get "Bumble" to ride with the rest of the crew.

Don, Great job on the rooftop gang.

Jon, Wonder if the chicken grit can be dyed for darker/briter coloration ?

Good to see Jack's sense of humor is coming back, laughter is the "Best" medicine.

Chief, Get after that crud early, still fighting mine but it is slowly losing it's grip. FINALLY !

Brutus, How about a big ol wedge of chocolate cake topped with some banilla and hot fudge ? Dinner

Went out east to a wedding, here is the report.

I'm sick with a head cold.

The groom has a sinus infection.

A relative fell out of bed and broke a rib.

It was a great wedding.

Sorry to rush in and rush out.  Short on time this week.

Quick stop by, finished rounds this morning.  Have one valve surgery and then I'm done.  Had to handle that emergency last night.  Patient is doing well, but a long road ahead.  Not much else to report.  Hope everyone is well,

Morning all. Bitter cold here. Getting the kids off to school - then maybe some Christmas shopping whilst the bride is still gone - even though we're 'not' getting each other gifts this year.  Doug, chicken grit can be dyed - I did so for an elaborate school sci project. Long story. Hope everyone has a good and safe day. Where's that dining car?

Good morning all,

It is cold and cloudy in SE Indiana, but at least the roads were clear.  Man, you miss the departure time for the dining car by even a few minutes and you hear about it from everybody :-)   Got the Christmas letter written last night.  Wife even liked it on the first draft.  Did some eBaying.  Hooked up the digital converter to the little 13 B/W TV.  Even improved the picture on that set.  Filled up the PT Cruiser for less than $20.  Did some "work" work at home.  Had another good day at work.  Dennis, as others have commented as well, I do believe you were supposed to be there to help that patient.  Jim Stur Phish, regarding your wife's comments, you can tell her what I tell the "saucy wench in the kitchen" and that phrase is that I can be either chasing trains or chasing women.  So far, she has not told me to stop chasing trains.  Good thing too because if you think trains are expensive....  I had a little extra on the dining car this morning (maybe that is why it was a little bit late).  I hope everyone has a good day.  Brutus, the beacon is lit.  I will have plenty of ice-cold regular Cokes ready for this trip and some Krispy Kreme donuts.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Warmer here.  Need to get out and get up more leaves.  Will wait until it warms up more as coughing up green chunks [I know you all wanted to know that].  The guy with the newpaper that wanted to fight after I sent in editorial reply is suppose to call and come meet with me.  Seems his Chief Editor is married to a friend of the family and wife went to high school with me.  He goes to the town Mom lives near all the time.  Funny how things happen.  Coffee and breakfast time.  Have a good one.

Morning All,,  pootur says it's 9 degrees, the tree tops are just wiggling a little, and we had a lite overnite dusting of snow up here in Erskine, Mn......Honorary summer wedder fer us Norvegians up heere... I have some outdoor wiring to finish up today, so I appreciate the nice wedder.  The ice on the lake was crunching and groaning last nite,, I really enjoy listening to Mother Nature's music...  Better than singing to myself;  as  I couldn't carry a tune in a gunney sack....

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a gloomy 36 degrees. Suppose to get some snow flurries today with very little temperature change.

Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do around the house. Then, I will relax a little. I may run trains tomorrow.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Hey

I haven't really checked in here lately (hmmm....begining to be like Lionroar 88---Brent, you still here?)
Been very busy with work and Christmas...and getting ready to leave for NJ in 17 days (not that I'm counting).

Up to 69 today and the sun is out.  Haven't done much on the layout other than test the 6-38070 Lionel C&O Pacific I'm thinking of buying.  Purchased a Train Station at the ACE hardware store for $24 and it's really nice.  Sounds like SPF fodder to me.....

Hung the NEW LED lights on the outside of the house, kinda strange looking, but the cool white glow give the house an ICY feel to it.  Next the tree and the wreaths for the door, and dang it, can't find 9 tiny flamingos for Santa's sled.  Still working on it though.

Seems like we have out own Guardian Angels here on the 'Pot.  Dennis takes car of the physical and Jim takes care of the Spiritual.  Better people can't be found.  Thanks guys.  Dennis, NEXT time I get ill, I'm make it a point to go NorthWest to GA for my medical....

Bad news on the Harley - can't duplicate the problem and can't afford a "better" scoot.  Not sure what to do next....I'll more than likely sit on the problem for now and leave the bike at HD.

OK Boys, see ya on the next trip!

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Thanks everyone for all the compliments !  Started a post last night and fell asleep at the computer, so it didn't make it, trying to remember it all.

(quote)HI GYZ,

23 and cold here to get to 43?

JACK, CHIEF, baits those deer with corn,  I can't shoot them.  Maybe SHAKE and BAKEs would be more of a challenge?  Flying deer, HMMM? (quote)

LAZ - That is realy BLASPHOMY, specially at this time of the year !!!  Can't believe your out trying to kill deer, all the little kids that will go without.  You end up being lucky IF you get a lump of coal for Christmas, and I'm certain it wouldn't be delivered in a train, or train car!  I may have to reinforce the guards.

Jim S -(quote)"Don – The sleigh scene looks really nice.  Did you have a pattern or make it up? "(quote)

Originally, back in the 60's my Mom had bought a pattern for the toy soldier, reindeer and sleigh.  Then thru the 4 generations since then, we have made minor modifications on them.  Added the packages and train engine to the sleigh, additional detailing on the reindeer.  The Santa was drawn free hand by my wife.  Did have a set of candy canes that were 8' tall, and was in the front yard.  They were replaced with a couple of 3D soldiers, (Gen's George & Douglas) who guard the front door.   Each set has a tendency to last between 10-15 years.  And of course when we put them up we usually have bad weather within a few days, havn't happened this year yet.  We had decided last year that they needed to be replaced, and when they came down last January had trashed most of them, forcing the issue.  So the tradition continues....

Dennis, That is such a tremendous story, and the feeling of contribution that you must have, has got to be really outstanding.  As previously stated, that is an experience to draw back on at those times of concern.

I think I will avoid the topic regarding train accumulation, and advice.  I was outsmarted!!  I had a 10x12 room with shelves on 3 of the 4 walls.  And lots of room for display.  Had 90% of the trains on the shelves.  Now I have a room that is 16x20, and less than 20% of the display area I had previously.  So decision is now, try to develop more display area, OR liquadate a significant amount of the display stuff, and upgrade to some of the newer stuff available in the current market.  So I'm leaning toward the second.

I had been contacted by a couple of old train club guys, about coming back to the club.  So Chris and I went down last night.  No need to drag all the detail in here, but suffice it to say, they are still having major operation issues, work advancing on scenery hiding even more track.  So, Chris and I ended up leaving and playing pool for a couple of hours.  That was truly the highpoint of the evening.

Better get going, From what I hear there are a LOT of cars rumbling around this great country.  Imagine by the end of the week most of them will have found their new destinations.  Hope everyone has a great day!

OH, I forgot to mention, on Dec. 8, the History channel is airing a show on Underground Cities.  This show titled "Mansons Underworld" I think, is primarily about LA.  Why Manson, I have no idea, other than to attract viewers.  Anyway, a sequence is going to be about Fort McArthur and the underground gun emplacments that were installed for protection of the west coast.  The train club that I belonged to is located in one of the old Army buildings of that Fort.  As a matter of fact one of the connecting tunnels that connect two of the gun emplacements runs under the clubs building.  One of the emplacements is a museum and have been thru it a number of times.  There is also an old Nike missle site there.  It should be an interesting show, there are miles of underground tunnels, etc. in that area.

SHAKE and BAKE, heard those deer taste like PLYWOOD?  Tough to smoke, but when their lit watch out?  You say I'm getting COAL?  WAA, got that stuff everyday of the year here in PA, if you don't watch out gonna lasso that sleigh and give you a whole load of our BLACK DIAMONDS, to be delivered in CALIFORNY.

Stay FROSTY,

Oh yea GYZ,

Forgot to chime in for the History CHannels Extreme Trains.  Not to bad learned that the wheels are just held in place by the weight of the car.  When they change the front wheel and jacked up the car wheel slid right out.  Thought they had to take off a bracket?

Would more than likely be Reindeer Chips, I have lots of them with knots in them.  But after they air on the History Channel all the armament that we have on the west coast, I'm sure he will be running back into the woods hiding with all the grouse.  So most likely just idle threats coming from his way.

Good morning all, today is my one year anniversary for quitting smoking.  One year ago, I was lying in the hospital after surgery. Happy to say I'm doing well now thanks to the Good Lord.  I could'nt smoke anyway while I was in the hospital so I figured if I quit for 8 days I could keep on going when I got out.  It worked!  North Carolina did not go broke when I quit like I thought they would.  They can do without me very nicely.

Laz, are you still stalking Bambi back there or is it too cold now.  I did a little hunting growing up in Virginia but never got a deer.  Probably would'nt know what to do with it if I did.  Would need someone who knows how to dress it.  The only thing I hunt now is a cheaper place to buy trains.

Chief, sounds like you are getting that cough again.  Be careful and take care of yourself.

Don, I heard about those gun positions at Ft. Mac Arthur but never saw one.  We drove down to some park area after the last open house but could not find a parking place so we just high balled out of there.

Tonight is train night for our Thursday night group if I can round them up.  Probably be a little chilly in the garage but will put on a pot of hot coffee.  Have not been motivated to put up any Christmas stuff yet but the season is here, ready or not!  I enjoy watching the Christmas shows on TV.  Saw 'The Christmas Story" last night.  Happy to report that my dental problem is getting better after the dentist prescribed some ointment for the ouch caused by my partial..

Have a good day y'all,

Ray

Still single digits here in temp. At least it's sunny. Ate too much in the dining car - I gotta stop cleaning everyone's plates... Got most Christmas shopping done this morn. Also mailed my brother an early birthday gift. I've been babysitting his MPC-era train set for the past decade. Think it's time he gets it back to put around the tree now that he's married again... so I fixed everything up, gave him a new transformer and loop of Fastrak too.

I was surprised to be asked to be on a 'leadership team' for production at church.  I am too gullible - I think whenever someone asks me to join them for a cup of java, they want to visit like here on the Pot... but they usually want to ask me to do something - LOL. I don't mind; guess I'm honored as I think I know the least of everyone there...

Speaking of hidden bunkers, wasn't a certain mayor associated with Nike missles at some time in his distinguished career in the service?

Whoops, there's the door bell. Well, a package from Iowa!

Thanks for the kind thoughts.  As mentioned, good Lord just put me where I was needed.  He was released today.

Don, we have an old Nike Missle site here.  They turned it into a Miller Brewery.

Wife just got home from taking daughter to ballet tonight.  Son is getting sick, so I hope this house is on the mend soon.  Made some home made pizza tonight, so I'm off to eat.  God Bless,

Good evening all from Southern Ohio

Just got home from work and waiting on my bride to come home and I’ll nuke supper.  Busy day at work.  I need to go in on my day off, bleh!  Youngest daughter helping me get brides Christmas gifts.

Buckeye – That wedding sounds like it was a lot of fun.

Mike C – Good advice, I think.  I may test the waters tonight.  A 973 Milk car has caught my attention on ebay after being told to take it easy around Christmas time.

Ray – Congrats on the one year without smoking!!!!  Hang in there.

Take care all, stay warm and dry and may God bless

Howdy folks - cold in St. Louis, but no snow around here overnight as predicted.  Been playing with track designs.  Found a website on yards, but not sure how reasonable it would be to expect to fit so much on a layout!  I think the 5-finger controller would be required to replace some run arounds etc.  Mike, DougDaGrump dropped off some cake and fudge too!  All we are missing is banilla?  Hmmm - wonder where we could get some?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
