HI GYZ,

40 this morning to get to 50 today.  Sorry haven't been posting much, because now I have bus duty in the morning at school.  So can't get on early and then very busy rest o day.  So it seems like the weekends will be it for me on DA POT.

Yesterday went PHEASANT HUNTING with BRO.  Started out great, walked on the side of big standing corn.  BRO on one side me on the other, trying to talk up DA BIRDS.  Instead we got a big suprise when a GIANT WHITETAIL jumped up and ran away.  All I saw was horns and a huge body.  After that we climbed a nice hill and a pheasant was lying down on top.  Told BRO hes gonna get up, started walking toward him and he broke flying towards BRO.  He missed I couldn't shoot, so 0 for one.  Went to second farm and was walking a hedge row and saw this bird running.  We don't shoot em running on the ground.  So we watch em and then persued.  Got him to fly and I shot and nailed him in back leg.  Thought he was down and went to pick him up, he went into briar patch.  We walked that patch for 20 minutes and couldn't find him, figured he went in hole.  We came back about a half hour to 45 minutes later and there he was lying there still alive.  I didn't want to put another one in him and didn't have my porkchop so I was going to ring his neck to put him out of missery.  Instead he started running toward the creek.  Tried to fly and fell in creek then swam to our side and crawled into little cave.  BRO and I took stick and got him out then I administered the final touch on him.  Was quite the ordeal.  We later saw one more bird but was way out of range.  Went spotting deer after sun went down and saw about 10 does.  Corn is still up so we didn't see much.  Came home and had fire with BRO, had CONEY ISLAND DOGS and burgers and OL MILS.  GREAT DAY!!!!!   Hopefully they will cut corn this week so we'll get another chance at these birds.  Got one for soup now.

Ran trains last nite for an hour, NO PILE UPs.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 55 degrees. Going up to 68 today, with some sunshine, hopefully.

Today is a good day. I plan on watching the Nascar race from Texas. Only 3 races left to the season. No baseball. no races. What a boring winter. I guess I will have to get downstairs and run trains.

Dining car has been here and left for " Points West ".

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Morning all.  Pretty day.  Hitting the 70's last two and today.  Back to normal fall in NC.  Cool at night and warming in the day.  Off  to the lake house and pay the plumber.  HE completely replumbed the house and has it ready to put in another bath as soon as Pam and I move a wall [this coming weekend and through the 11th].  Have a great week.  God bless.

Morning Chief!  Morning Giz!  Cable/Internet/Phone was down when we got up this morning, I guess the clock change scrambled something down the line.  It's an area-wide thing.  Phone and then internet came back, but cable is still down.  Posted a couple on the photo thread - JimSP, I like that toy-ish AF stuff a lot, good looks.  Doug - what scary movie were they watching?  I love the horror movies!  Fifedog -- Laugh  Well, that's the end that EATS anyway!  We are calling her a Cone-Head now Laugh  Today, I have to put up a light fixture I bought for the laundry room, then change a bunch of bulbs through the house as they are all going out at about the same time again - it must be the amount of time they are on through the year(s).  Then, I'm going to go down and clean around the layout and run my new A-5.  Wife told me I can't open my saw until my actual birthday - sound familiar Dennis?  I think they get that at the secret-wife-school.

It is a beautiful sunny clear day in Buckeyeland.

Mowed and mulched the lawn and the leaves.  Dumped the flowers from their pots on the deck.  Trimmed several of the trees.  Drained the water out of the hoses and stored them.   Still need to fire up the snow-blower in order to get ready for the best days of the year when the snow flies.  I remember last year when we had 20".  What a great day for Ohio!!

Tougher in Alaska, had a segment yesterday about the Alaskan Railroad and hauling coal.  Great video from the cab.

Chuck...I need to teach you to skate, so you can enjoy hockey in the winter.   Do you think you could be here for lessons this week?  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Laz.....I will be in Bethlehem over Thanksgiving this year.  Can I buy? Yeah!!

I think I will run upstairs to the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash Railroad and try to run over some more Plasticville People.  I sorta enjoyed last weeks run at them.  Mischief

 Afternoon Gents,

Back from Orlando, De-Halloween-ized the front yard, now watching my NY Giants play the Cowgirls.

Had a decent crowd on Halloween, had the whole display running, scared a few, had a few lookers, rained of and on for the duration, wrapped it up about 8:45 due to the rain.

Left yesterday for O-town about noon, got there around 2:30 and checked in. Took a quick nap and off to Halloween Horror Nights by 4:30.  This was the Finale for this season.  They had 8 haunted houses and 8 scare zones.  We got into the park about 6:15, hit all the houses by 8:30 and then revisited some of them.  We had a great time.  Loved the Scary Tales house and the entrance to the area there were HUNDREDS of lit up jack o lanterns in the trees fences and on the ground WOW!! what a sight at night!  We left the park at 2:01 DST and back in the hotel by 2:30 DST.

Left for home and followed the CSX/AMtrak line up US 17 back to home. We cleaned up the yard and that was the week end.  Very enjoyable.  Can't wait until HHN XIX next year!

see ya 2 morrow!!  Now on to Thanksgiving!!!

Good day to all, slow day here.  Set the clocks back this morning account forgot last night, went to church and layed around house this afternoon.  Have to figure out something to do for daughter-in-law's birthday tonight.  Either go out to dinner or cook at home.  I don't look forward to the latter.  Did not run trains yesterday or today.  We had a few showers yesterday which is very unusual for Southern, California.  Only rained about 20 minutes but we'll take it.  We need all we can get.  I'm still waiting on delivery of my Walt Disney World Train Station that I bought on E Bay  a few days ago.  Look forward to putting that together.  We had a get together at my layout last Thursday night and 4 out of 5 of us showed up.  Would have been unanimous but one guy got his wires crossed about my phone message.  I'm thinking about going to the Angeles Gate High Railers open house next week end if I can find someone to go with.  Also Cal Stewart meet in Pasadena is coming up later this month.  It's our biggest show on the West Coast.  November is a busy month.  Daughter-in-law's birthday, Sister's birthday, Cal Stewart, AGHR open house Thanksgiving and my wedding anniversary.  This year will be no. 49.  Next year will be the big one.  Have a nice Sunday y'all.

Evening all. Long butpleasant day - worked video at church then went out to a late lunch. Played outside with the boys in the leaves with a made-up football/volley-ball game. The teens and bride went back to church and I gotta finish the laundry, tidy up and make him some dinner. Haven't  caught any football yet.  Gonna call a appliance repair guy tomorrow as I can't get to the part I think is broken.
Rich, sounds like a great day!
Brutus, don't quite know what movie the teens watched last night but it had plenty of screams in it - can't watch 'em myself.
Fife, don't look forward to the second teen driving in a year...

Evening all,

Bride and I had a beautiful drive home from Lancaster.  Saw several deer.  Nature has them getting frisky.  Kind of like teenage boy with one thing on their mind.

Wes – Some of my friends have gotten the WII and are using them as part of their exercise routine.

Buckeye – Remember, plenty of fluids!

Fife – Did you notice the yard art in the SPF pics?

Got to go.

May God bless

CSX - my son has the Wii and it's great, you will really like it a lot.

Well, skipped lunch and started putting light fixture together, then took down old one, made a template and drilled holes to hang new fixture, put up fixture, put up fixture, put up fixture Banged Head  I've put up a couple dozen light fixtures, but this one had a fancy wood surround and just was a pain.  One of the toggle bolts wouldn't open up in the ceiling all the way so one side kept coming back down?  Finally replaced the toggle doohickey and left the bad one up in the ceiling.  Got it done, took a shower, and RT called.  Had a nice visit for about an hour and then dinner and now Amazing Race (wife's show).  Good news - neck doesn't hurt and I was working overhead for a long time, so I hope that problem is fixed.  I was going to call you this afternoon, Laz, but time got away from me - Sorry!  Maybe next week?  You can drive the Tardis and I'll get you a case of Ol' Mills, okay? Blush

Doug - scary movies are the best, followed by comedies, sci fi, action - okay, no particular order.  I don't usually go for the "drama" though, only the exceptional ones.

Sir James, got any banilla?  I had a brisket sandwich Dinner

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

 Good Evening to all-

Had a great day at the GV Train show.  Spent most of my time hanging around the Glancy Modular layout.  Nice group of guys and lots of fun was had.

I also had the pleasure again of spending some time chatting with Sir James and was able to meet Kurt today as well.  Enjoyed meeting you Kurt..Like I said we'll have to get together and run trains at some point..  SJ maybe I can stop by some night next week...if you did not move that searchlight car on your table..I'll take it off your hands..

Next time you are in Lancaster Check out Rising Park next to the Fairfield fairgrounds, at the top of the mountain/hill/rock on a clear day you can just barely make out the Columbus skyline. Also the Smokestack hobby store in town can't remember what street it is on. Which Church were you at???

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Spent late last night running trains.  Ran the 8E and 10E passenger sets and the 318E freight set for about an hour with NO PILEUPS (to quote Laz57).  Today Lucas and I toted our old sofa up to the daughter's place.  Other than the tarp trying to blow, it went ok.  Tried to get the Lionel Fun Factory for 40% off from Borders but they would not take it on pre-orders.  Did see the Target PRR set.  Nice looking.  Even has the same number on the engine as the postwar 1580 set.  Went to the youth soccer appreciation dinner tonight with wife.  Still full.  Watched "Desperate Houswives".  Have the day off tomorrow to make a four day weekend.  I had waffles and bacon on the dining care for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Home from the lake.  Plumber did a great job.  Now to move wall this coming weekend and make a bigger eating area and the remaining will be a big bath.  Then I am through until next spring.

Hey Chief !! That's really a nice bath you've added there !  That fancy French looking personal cleaner, hanging on the far wall looks real interesting.  Betcha that cost a lot, huh?  The only thing I think you could use is a better shower caddy for all them cleaning tools and shower toys you have there on the right side.  Sure lookin homey, betcha Roseyville would be proud.

Had a pretty good day today.  First of all as Ray indicated we did get a "Little" rain.  (He got more than we did!)  Ours was almost measurable, after all the weather warnings we got less than .003".  However closer to the mountains they may have gotton more,  News reported 1 mudslide.

Almost got all the painting done on the reindeer set, have 1 more coat of white to apply, then some detailing in Black.  Hopefully this set will last for another 15 years.

Don't understand whats going on out here, people are "flocking" to one court house in LA County in order to vote "early", standing in line 3-4 hours!  Been going on for 3 days, some interviewed said they couldn't wait for Tuesday, strange!

SPMan - I plan on going to Cal-Stewart, maybe we can meet somewhere, buy you a cup of coffee or whatever.  Will see what we can do.

Buckeye - If Chief was my witness, I would be in big trouble!  BTW when are you going to start the skating lessons with Chuck, I'm sure he will be looking forward to that!

So you all have a good day, I'm going to hit the rack.

Morning!

Brutus:  Photos of Sir James????  Are you sure you want Photos???

Made it to GV train show rather late...enough time to talk to Sir James and Charlie, get to all the tables and watch trains for a bit.  Sir James, nice seeing you again! Charlie, nice meeting you!  Ended up only spending $3 for (3) UCS tracks.  Saw a couple of AF coal loaders, but couldn't pry my (Bride's) cash out of my hand.  Prices were everywhere.  If they were getting what they were asking for the trains...I'd sell mine!  But theirs were still on the table.

3-yo didn't want to go to Train show, but wanted to stay home...As soon as I came home she said she wanted to go to the Train show.  Confused

Raining now...hopefully it will stop so I can finish trimming out the windows.

Moring to All.  Put on a fresh pot.  Trying to catch up on all the news on the POT.

LAZ- to bad about the bus duty.  Sounds like you had a great time hunting pheasant with your Bro.  Do you make a stew or soup with the pheasant.  I can only remember trying pheasant once as a kid.  Around here pheasant have become as rare as hens teeth, I guess due to development.  Used to be lots of birds.  Now my buddies who hunt say there are none.

Kurt, SJ, Charlie - Sounds like the Michigan group had a great time at the train show.

Buckeye - your note reminded me Ihave to get the snow blower out of the back of the shed and move it into the garage.  We don't get as much Snohio as you do, but sometimes it comes in handy.  We never know when we will have "one of those winters", where we get so much snow that we miss 8 to 10 school days.  I hope not this year.

Fife - God Bless You and yours with another princess driving.  One teen driver was enough for me. Always on edge when he was out late.  I am just as happy now that my young'un has no vehicle and relies on the DC Metro for his transportation.

Well, gotta go.  Have a meeting after school at my place and I need to pick up some things.

Take care,

Mitch

Morning gang!  Had two very good services at church.  I was not supposed to be on anything, but light guy was late...soooo, I had to take over.  Don't mind, actually prefer the seats in the control booth.

Mitch, thanks for the fresh pot.  Getting ready to head in.  Case cancelled, so I have it easy today.  Wife wants me to work on layout this weekCool Well, OK honey, if you insist!

The Wii is great.  Wife loves the Wii-Fit, I often come home and she is working out on it.  Kids get into the action too.

Chief, good luck with your bath....not sure I should follow up on this.  Anyway, hope it goes well.

Well, we have one more day.  Hope the good guy pulls it out....I'll leave the one up to your thoughts, but I do not believe we should head in a socialist way.  Never has a country taxed its way into prosperity.

God Bless,

Dennis

 Laz---

Here's how you get out of bus duty:  the first time it snows and some boy launches a snow ball at someone else you offer him two options, go to the principals office or you line him up in front of a tree and let two or three kids throw snow balls at him Smile   Trust me, you won't have bus duty ever again! Option two always works.

Don,

GA has had early voting going on for the past few weeks.  From what they've shown on the news from the Atlanta area 3-4 hours is nothing, some spots that the newsies find have waits in excess of 6 hours.  I voted last week and it took me all of 10 min. from the time I parked till  the time I left.  Only reason I voted early is that I'm working tomorrow.

On the train front not much new, went over an acquaintance's last week to see his layout in progress.  His interest is being able to run as many trains as possible so its a plain Jane layout with a lot of track, 5 loops on the flat and working on at least 3 elevated loops.  We also sat around and watched train videos.  Been looking for a CB&Q U30C but the ones on e-bay have gone for more than I feel they are worth, instead bought another train book.

We'll the better half has left for work, guess I'll give the house a once over with the vacuum and by then the frost/dew may have burned off and I can finish cutting the lawn.

Have a good day y'all.

mitchie - No one has cleaned the coffee pot for weeks, thanks.  BTW, perhaps things will "slow down" for you...saaaaay February...

Where's the pictures of our pack of Wolverines...?  Was there a camera broken...?

Chief - Seems like a lot of fuss is being made over a once-a-week event.

dbaker - Good to see that BALTIMORE's "Vote early. Vote often" is sweeping the nation.  And they put the voting the Tuesday after Halloween, to help explain the "resurrections" of some voters...Cool
