Good Mornin', Ya'll, from Sunny Taxachusetts,

RT......fabulous news on the health front.  You are still on a roll in 2008!  Now if you can just get both sets of doctors on the same page before you change course.......

MikeC....JimPhish wants you to be subordained his "Minister" of trains even if you are from Indiana..  Big Smile   Sorry for the mixup.

Dennis......hats off to you and your group for showing the rest of us what can be done when a bunch of ordinary citizens get together to make a difference in the lives of others.  Humanity of this sort trumps a government program.  Differences are made one person at a time.  Thumbs Up

DougM......who are "Doug O'Leary, Doug O'Malley, and Doug O'Bryan" who are also registered to vote at your street address? Whistling  Are they the guys who are washing the dishes in your domicile while the first string dishwasher is down? Whistling

Brutus......prayers for your wife's uncle.  Re the paintballs directed at your house, I believe the paint is water soluble.  Not as bad as eggs thrown at mine, right after I got it painted (wood clapboard, a stupid New England thing).  When my son was 10, he happened upon 2 neighborhood kids (brothers) he knew breaking windows on the rear of a new construction house down the street.  A neighbor came out and asked what was going on right after the perpetrators bolted, followed by a call to the police.  Son told the truth.  Curiously, my house and only my house got egged the following weekend.  When I called the parents of the two kids, they and the kids denied everything; and I knew the couple and the kids very well!  Both of the kids were caught and convicted of stealing cars about 6 years later.  There are none so blind as those who won't see.

John/jef......hang in there.  The trains at the library must prevail!

Don......thanks for the list of CA. ballot questions.  Here are the ones for Massachusetts:

1.)   Eliminate the state income tax by 2010.

2.)   Decriminalize marijuana possesion under one ounce, making it a fineable misdomeanor, with parental notification for those under 18, counseling, and community service.

3.)   Eliminate greyhound racing.

Later,

Jack

Hey Doug, they didn't winkWinkat you when they said "remember, you can't vote again on Tuesday", did they?

Chief, I too am not enamored with either party/candidate.  I grow less everyday.

Thanks guys on the kind thoughts towards the movie...it was all from above, we couldn't have made it without Him.

Sorry for stirring the pot, Fife is right, makes for a sour smell.

Don, most of our ballot issues lately have been towards making the state more kind to the retired.  They have made retirement income tax free (from the state), and are trying to make life easier for the elderly.  We are attracting a large number of folks from the north east who are nearing retirement.

Jack, thanks for posting your list, it really helps to follow your posts so I can see who said what as the pages go by so fast here.  I try to read, but just don't have the time these days.

Hope everyone has a blessed day,

Dennis

The boss and I voted at 7:10 AM, #'s 24 & 25, we avoided the rush/crush Smile   Since we live in the country we get to go to a small church and vote, it's WONDERFUL!  I ran into 2 sets of parents whose kids I had in class and it was sure fun to visit with them in the parking lot, kind of ironic---the last time I saw one of the parents was 4 years ago in the same parking lot Thumbs Up

Believe It or Not---there have been politicians visiting Iowa to "test the waters" for the Caucuses 3 1/2 years from now Zzz

Morning all. Whew! Escaped being pulled into polling places on my way to work to vote again. Beautiful day here - I didn't wear a coat. Not bad for November.

We just had the one hilarious 'should we have a state consititutional convention' question on the ballot, written and approved by those who don't want one - so the paragraph said something like 'would you want this to be held again which will be expensive and didn't accomplish anything the last time.' LOL.  I wrote in Mayor Eagles for Cty. Coroner (maybe a step-up for his career) and Jon for Cty. Bd. President...

Should be an interesting afternoon amd evening here in the Loop.

Won't you guys be surprised when Chief winds up on the top of the stack as a write-in candidate when all the votes are counted!  He already made me sign a non-financial promissory note that states after he is elected President I will hitherto be known as being a supporter from the Southern part of Northeast Taxachusetts.  Didn't require me to fly the "other" American flag at my place........yet. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Thank you Dennis for the kind words about my posts.  I know my contributions here are far too long for most and I have been tempted to quit the summaries.  But if it helps all the posters feel welcome and helps them get to know each other a little better, it's good.  No ones' thoughts, opinions, or lives are any more or less important than anothers'.  If my feeble attempts at humor bring a smile to someone's face who needs it, all the better.

Jack as long as you have the time, and don't mind, keep your summary posts, and comments.  They are great!!  Always enjoy the chuckle and there always is one.  This morning liked the quote regarding "There are none so blind as those who WON'T see."

Doug, WE need your ballot measure out HERE !!!

We were supposed to vote for the Chief????  Uh oh.  I voted for Jon....That's gonna skew the numbers.

Looks like we opened up a can of worms with the issues...Maybe we should all just go fishin'.

Jack:  Thumbs Up  If I miss a few days I can look for your post, and get caught up.

Chief,

I know most of the town council.  I can tell you there is an absense of common sense (just like nationally) and Mom brings more common sense than most of them.  I can tell that you have that kind of sense.  Mom speaks her mind and the polls be damned.  Trust me, she knows how to pick her battles and if she wins, it WILL be interesting!!!

I do not know what is going on.  Type a long reply and then suddenly it is gone. Banged Head  Has happened three time at the same point [word].  Rainy and poles are continous with voters.  Just talked to a lday about starting our own water plant in defiance of Raleigh.

Took a nice long walk up to Fields, I mean Macys - at lunch. Then decided to cancel class. Did not like the look of the crowds gathering already. So I get to go home at a more normal time.

Doug, hope you get to feeling better soon.  Lots of folks been dealing with the crud.  Hope I have avoided it, but am starting to feel a tad under the weather.

Chief, we have that same cartoon blown up and posted in the Doctor's lounge at the hospital....funny.  I voted early (two weeks ago).  When I left this morning, there was a line out the door of the church we normally vote at and a quarter way around the parking lot.....normally there is no line at all.  Took wife there this afternoon and she voted, just walked right in.

On the DVR the other day, I taped a episode of "I Love Lucy" in which they are riding a train and Lucy nabs a jewel thief.  Just something about those old shows.  Even the kids were laughing and it was all clean fun.

Dennis, the bride recorded that same episode - she loves Lucy (I'm more partial to Sheriff Taylor even if he was in NC). It sure was great. Since I'm not supposed to be home, the bride is off to a 'victory celebration' with a girlfriend - the connection to politics is veeeeeery thin. I don't think there's football on TV anywhere so I'm off to run trains!

Guess what Pam's nickname is?  You guessed it.  LUCY  and that is why the pup is named Lucy.  Pam can conjur up more mess.  Does not look good on the home front for Senator nor Pres.  Later

Howdy All

Voted just after nine, no line, just  like the swinging door, walked right through the whole thing, went and watched the grandsons so wife could go and she said it was still the same way, people just moving right through. We are enjoying what might be the last of summer weather, low 70s for two more days. everybodys yard looks nice and clean, until the wind starts blowing again. No trains ran today but I did fuss a bit no pile ups that way. Brutus banilla is ready, lite the fuse on the thingy......S.J.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary by walking up to the voting place, and then spending the afternoon eating at a locally owned diner, and spending time at various local stores.  It was a very nice day.  Last night I ran the Alaska set with only a few derailments on switching operations, and today ran the 318E freight and the 8E passenger set.  Wife gave me a set of 4 1/32 diecast cars from the 30s which fit in very nicely with the standard gauge equipment.  I had bacon and waffles on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  Watched the last F-1 race of the season tonight.  Wow, what a race!  The championship went down to the final turn of the final lap.  It does not get much better than that.  (OK, a rousing soccer game or the Indy 500, but you know.....)  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Very sensible, Doug!

Jack and Doug and others, thanks for the kind words.  His prognosis is very poor.  They had him in cryotherapy and now warming him up.  It's all new to me.  We're hoping he comes around!

Also, kids were off school today so my wife put them to work and the paintball mess came right off the siding.  Luckily, there were no holes from the balls.  The contractor is coming tomorrow to fix the siding that was hit with BB's.  I'm thinking about writing a letter and attaching copies too all the doorknobs around here.  Maybe something like:

Warning!  Watch out - VANDALS are attacking our houses!  Check your vinyl siding for BB holes - We found them in our siding on the uphill side a few weeks ago!  Also, watch out for paint on the siding as we were hit at some point over this past weekend by paintball guns!  Contact the police if you find damage!  We have to watch out for each other!

How does that sound?

I voted at 6:50 AM and it only took about 10 minutes.  Other places already had lines out the door, but our poling place is very small and gets most business later or in the afternoon.  Local gambling interests have been running ads pushing a proposition that would give all this money to kids/schools.  Well in the fine print it would remove loss limits and also prohibit future votes on that issue?  Uh - no!  I hope that loses!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
