Today, I will be watching the Nascar race from Atlanta. Hope it is not rained out. Qualifying was.

Have not ventured down to the train room yet. Need a few more days.

Buckeye ....Is in hiding in W.Va.

Dining car was here and served breakfast. Then to " Points West ".

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Wow, has it gotten cold and very blustery here - of course, tonight's a 'trunk or treat' event at the church. Good thing the youngest will be all bunded up anyway.

Finally home again.  Went to the Lake House.  Now officially The Eagles Nest.  Installed sign on post our at the driveway entrance.   Got wiring at both ends of the trench in conduit and into the metal building and the storage shed [where big aux breaker pannel is located].  So all outside work to wire metal building is done.  Mowed grass [again!!!].  Drove to SIL's for abite and then home.  Doug M, our Trunk or Treat is Friday night at Church.  Saturday night we have ET movie in the park.  Free to all.  Long day and tired.  Will say Good night now.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  Really time for popcorn.

Good Evening All

It was a good indoor day,55,but, we had: sun, clouds, windy, rain, downpour w/thunder and some places nearby had hail. Then back to sun and 55 again. I goofed off and couched. Funny thing on the news,  people were  still going downtown for their tailgate parties but were refusing to buy tickets to the Lions game(they lost again today)about the only ones going were season ticket holders. Some of them probably didn't go either. next week I got to get moving and find stuff for the train show. Brutus come and get me out of here. Banilla is waiting...S.J.

On the way, Sir James - went out and got some sandwiches for dinner.  Spent the day replacing doorknobs and had to make a run to Home Depot for another one.  Patched a hole in the garage/house wall where I tried to screw a big bolt into a stud, but just skimmed the edge somehow.  Put the bolt in a little lower and over a quarter inch - worked good.  Guess the board is a little warped Whistling  Wife wants a new Ipod, but the store was closed by the time we got there.  Just watching tv now and this of course, lol!

Chief, I believe they refere to it as The Ohio State College, or something like that.  I think there was a discussion about it a while back.

Well, worked camera for both services today.  I enjoy it, but it takes a toll on my neck/back.  Was a good service.  Had lunch at our usual Sunday fair, Mexican.  That took it's toll on my stomach, so I took a bit of a nap before the evening service, no trains.

God Bless,

Made it back from the wilds of the north.  Crazy weather day as SJ mentioned.

Goofed around with the layout for a few, hooked up the blinking light above a Lionel bridge..boy is that thing fussy.  Also I have officially given up on getting my 394 to rotate.  Going to donate it to the Christmas tree layout, I have a 494 coming.

I'm getting ready to go gang busters with the scenery on my layout...This part should be fun..

Swing by and get me Brutus...I'll go for a spin...

Daughter was down with both a horrendous cold and the flu today, so I picked up the little princess and brought her back to our place for pumpkin carving, baking pumpkin seeds, and dinner.  The little one wanted a happy pumpkin and stood there supervising every cut.  "You can make yours scary, Grampy, but not mine!"  Unbeknownst to us, our younger female Doberman was quietly and contentedly chewing up the little one's shoe in the next room.  The two of them have grown up together, are inseparable, and the little one has a ball putting the dog through obedience drills.

RockIsland - No sidearms needed.  Just a firm handshake, short greeting, and the I'm-just--looking-for-a-reason-to-gnaw-off-the-side-of-your-face "look" (always giving with a whiplash smile).  It works for me.Cool

No Just parks his Cruiser backed in and at an angle like hes ready to pounce on someone.

Fife probably parks the cruiser down the street and pulls the guy over BEFORE he gets to the house, with hand on gun "spread 'em, hands on top of the car", runs the plates and DL, pats the guy down, calls a K9 buddy for backup who arrives with sirens and lights cranking, dog does car search, then escorts him to the house where:  "Just a firm handshake, short greeting, and the I'm-just--looking-for-a-reason-to-gnaw-off-the-side-of-your-face "look" (always giving with a whiplash smile)."

Admit it, Fife, the thought has at least crossed your mind. Smile,Wink, & Grin

DougM......I think Halloween is more festive with the leaves on the ground.  My neighbors are anal retentive when it comes to picking up their leaves.  The guy across the street has landscapers once a week and he rakes in between!  I'm surprised he hasn't put a tarp on his lawn, yet.

Hey Fife, my dad used to have the neighbor run the plates, and on occasion, go out and get em.  Oh what we won't do for/to our princess'.  Got a few early cases and now I am on call.

Good morning all,

It is cold, cloudy and miserable in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s and SNOW in the forecast.  Better get the snowblowers ready.  Dennis, do you do housecalls for Hoosiers who are stupid with snowblowers? :-)   I still have mine but have not fired it up in three years since the "incident".  Was actually busy with trains yesterday.  Put people in all of my 330 series passenger cars.  Not quite the effect I was hoping for, but now at least the cars look they are serving a purpose.  Ran both the 10E and the 8E with passenger trains.  Cleaned off the 318E and the associated cars.  It was a good day.  We watched "Desperate Housewives" and talked to Lucas last night.  "Housewives" was good and Lucas is doing ok.  He is still struggling with Latin.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning and sent it to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

OSU... great fans, but they are a bit overly conceited (the university)... THE Ohio State University, THE Best D!%^ Band In The Land, etc, etc. THEy think a little highly of themselves... I mean heck... University of Ohio, Miami of Ohio, Youngstown State, Akron University, University of Toledo, University of Cincinatti are all in Ohio... but THEy are the ONLY University in Ohio???

Oh well... THEy are still good folks - although a bit quiet as of late.

Buckeye - Susan wants to know why people put fruit flavored cream inside Chocolate? And what's that pink thing? Before we went to Alabama we stopped at Rheb's Chocolates in Baltimore to get some Chocolate for the folks in Alabama. While there I picked up 1/2 lb of Dark Chocolate Cherries and 1/2 lb of Dark Chocolate Caramels. I've been really good at not eating chocolate everyday... so on Saturday I open my box of chocolate (because you never know what you're gonna get) and I notice it is a bit empty... SusieQ claims she hasn't been partaking of them... so I asked if she has been taking them for 'her boyfriend'... she starts laughing and says, 'ME take chocolate to someone else? YOU have GOT to be kidding! If I take chocolate I'm eating it!' So we know where her heart is!

BTW - Phightin' Phils are up 3 games to 1, PSU WON!, Flyers beat the Devils, only bad thing this weekend was the Steelers blowing it at home against the Giants... but I'll take a Phillies WS and a PSU MNC this year if it means the Steelers don't make the playoffs (but in the AFC North it appears they are still the team to beat).

PS - I DID get into the trainroom again yesterday... have to finish 'super curving' a curve and then form the base for the corner scenery I'm working on. Also have to order another flexible girder from Scenery Express for a bridge project.

Recently, OSU has been the largest single campus in America...and their band is very good...better than the other ones in "the land", even the Marching 110 of Ohio University.

Mornin'

I'm taking my usual "college" high road, even though Rutgers (THE State University of New Jersey) won on Saturday. Nah, I didn't watch it, I was working the LTS!  And I don't really care for college sports anyway.

Yes the Devils dropped 2 to the Flyers and I heard from my Flyer fan buddy in Delaware because of it.Banged Head  The season is early, so not to fret..yet.  The Giants are now 6-1, and that also means that the guy I work with now owns me 2 lunchs and $50.  He's from Pittsburgh and of couse we bet it. Smile,Wink, & Grin AND since we're into sports, I don't care for the "Rays", go Phillies.  Mom is a Phillies fan (in a family DOMINATED by Yankees fans), so we'll go with Mom's team.

Decorated the house yesterday for Halloween, I did it last Thursday, but the wind ripped everything apart.  The master carpenter went and bought 1X2X8 furring strips and redid the backdrops, rehung the lights and then the rest of the family pitched in (which in its self is amazing and I am thankful) and finished off.  I started at 12:30 and was completed by 8:30.  And the princess declared she liked it and all that is left is inserting the batteries on Friday afternoon and setting up the electronics and SFX/smoke and we'll be ready for the little ones.PirateCowboyCaptainCool

If you saw the SPF, I ran the K-Line 2001 Employees Safety Set Saturday night, took pictures and ran that for a while, returned them to their respective boxes and basked in the glow of my layout.  Call me crazy, but I wasn't too impressed with the Alco.  Is was noisy and couldn't pull the 5 cars behind it.  An upgrade may be in the works.....Shock

Suppose to up to a nice Autumnal 70 today, it's now 50ish and tomorrow am in the 30's!! Gotta love it!

We'll chat later!
Rich

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 45 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Starting 3rd shift tonight.

dwiemer - Perhaps you should see a doctor about those neck & pain issues.

RockIsland - It's simply not that way. *REMEMBER*--->we want the birdies to leeeeave the nest.   Just want to "plant" the thoughts of mortality...

anjdevil - We have a pair of those KLine Alcos too, and they are lousy pullers.  Perhaps adding some A-Line sticky weights inside the shell might give them a little more traction.

Good Morning All,

No breaking news this AM, too early. Rain overnite but not much. No warmth either next couple of days. My neighbors let the leaves blow so I just wait till the trees are bare, go out in the cold and run the mower over them.

Charlie- the 494 was the right thing to do if you want it to rotate.

It's monday, make the best of it.....S.J.

Morning gang.  Woke up at 8 this morning.  Lucy curled up in the bed beside me and Burg on his bed at the foot of our bed.  Been in and out a dozen times, cooked and ate breakfast and then had hold Lucy in my lap time [she requires that now].  Taking her to groomers at 1:30.  Her Mom will pick her up.  Really nothing planned for today.  Will see what happens.  Got plenty I could do but no rush.  Hope all have a great week.  God bless.

As I sit here doing my daily job hunting what to my wondering eyes should appear but SNOW!  Just not ready to deal with that yet.

Had trick or treat here yesterday afternoon.  Real busy for about an hour then nada.  Now not only do I have to eat the few treats left in the bowl, I have an entire unopened bag (125 count) to deal with.  Just my luck, if I had only bought one bag, we would have run out for sure.

Saw a billboard locally warning OSU is moving north into Michigan.

Friends over for dinner last night.  Bride and I have been trying to figure out what the 2-yo will go GAGA over for Christmas...still not sure...she seems to like hot wheels cars...I did get approval for a HW car buy!  ...for the stocking!

Kurt, of course, the 2yo will go gaga over...the boxes.  The bigger, the better.  Doesn't matter much what is inside.  I have told my bride several times, we can just take the toys they haven't played with all that much, rebox them, and give them again.....think of all the money that would give me for trains!Black Eye and the black eye from SWMBO.

Fife, I may have to get my neck/back adjusted at a chiropractor.  Will not go under the knife for that, once you do, you are never the same.  Only time would be if you are in absolute unbearable pain.  Till then, we have medications that work.

Chief, after my case this morning, I got to see the sniper program in the Dr.'s lounge.  Pretty cool stuff.  I actually got to go up to Ft. Benning and do a review of some of the equipment.  Also, a friend is a Colnel with the Army Test Brigade, got to do the work and get deployed with the 416 Barrett....quite a weapon!

Well, if I can, I will get in the train room tonight and do a little layout work.

God Bless,
dennis

Hope you feel better Dennis.  My neck is finally better, but it took 2 weeks to get better this time Sad  Cold in St. Louis today.  I got to watch a double head BNSF freight pull out across the parking lot at break today - lots of cars, but I couldn't count.  I think the engines were C44's, does that sound right?  I think I ID'd them correctly.  My friend is into geneology and figured out that he's related to Sarah Palin through some guy back in 1605, lol!

Evening all!

Dennis:  Prayers for your health.

Brent thanks for the offer...Our youngest is quite destructive...you probably have collectors cars...She'd destroy them.  I'm considering using some of what I have socked away...but they're mostly matchbox. cars.  Maybe I should check the value of these things first...I could sell them and buy trains!

We ended up buying a Little tikes Green Mountain Raceway on the Auction site.  Man these things are like gold....We found one locally to save on the $50 shipping.

Gotta go...Molton Chocolate souffles are ready!

Elliot F does not post here anymore.  He use to monitor but doubt he does.  Last conversation I had with him, he was a little "tired" of trains.  Reminds me, need to call the old guy.  Elliot was the original person who suggested I run this thread continously.  I was doing a new one each morning, at first.  There was Elliot, Buckeye and Tom P. here when I got on.  Then it grew.  You could check in all day and not get but two or three posts on the whole forum.  Had a "spurt" when OGR announced they were going to charge for their forum usage.  As soon as they got that settled [found sponsors], the gang jumped right back over to OGR.   Visited Elliot and Tammy when I was in his town doing a Cabela's Grand Opening in Rogers, MN.  Great people.  Had monster layout going in basement.

Time to hit the sack.  Tired.  Watered the greenhouse.  Did "Town Hall duty", took Lucy to groomers, went to Lowes and got the wire, breaker boxes and etc to wire the metal building and upgrade the Ranger storage building's wiring.  Came home and it was blowing and turning cloudy.  In a few minutes, turned cold and had a few Yankee invasion ice pellets and sprinkles.  [this is early for us].  Picked up pecans after the "blow" calmed some.  Fixed dinner for wife and had it ready when she came home with Lucy.  Fed the deer and we curled up to stay warm and watched a movie.

Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  [no reclinerizing tonight]

Back from Statistics Class Covered 2 sections of Chapter 6 and all of Chapter 7. Normal and Binomial Distributions and Confidence Intervals (in case you wondered!). Had a late snack. Hit the SPA-92 degrees in the water-50 degrees in the air. Supposed to be chance of frost in the morning. (Early for Florida) One of my whimsies arrived while I was at class. The Lionel "Case Closed" Mint Car. Some on the other forum were carping about the high price. Probably true but I wanted it so I paid the price. Haven't taken a chance to run trains. Still have a ton of work to do in the train room.

Prayers to all who need them. Lucas' son, Fife's daughter-the princess- that her date behaves himself and does what Dad told him!!!

Evening all from cool and damp Southern Ohio

Dennis - Hope the neck feels better

Started night shift tonight, after a few hours of hectic work all is calmed down now.  Had a pretty busy day, started off with a funeral, then some work around the house.  No trains today.  Need to go

May God bless
