Kurt, they are really great things.  Bright flashes from little strobe.  Just check them out when you buy them.  Be sure the springs are in the trucks and etc.  BTW:  did have a time mounting truck on a MTH double stack car.  The ETD trucks are made so enclosed that you might not be able to get the screws back into the body once new ETD truck is installed.  In this case, screws held on the end walkway.  Used some of my black sticky windshield sealing tape to hold the walkway on.  Works.

Yes, Buckeye, we hid the hooch, here, on Blueberryhill. I check it every day, ( burp ). It is well secured. Trust me. Do you need another dozen cases ??

Than I know it is safe.  If they can't find Roger's Corners, they will never find Blueberryhill, Ohio unless then need to spend some time in the BIG HOUSE.

GOOD EVENING ALL

It made 93 today so I stayed in most of it. not all but most.Did a few small train projects and had some family over to burn and eat some stuff. Fresh veggys from the garden are great. I heard talk from Wild Bills that the new MTH ETD does not mount easy even on their cars, so I think I will pass on them.  Brutus fire up the thingy, I am ready to go...S.J.

Looking for a little help Guys.

Thinking about the Halloween garage layout and hoping somebody in the Pot has some layout software that includes Fastrack. The upper level will be no problem using 027 on it (folding tables), but the lower level was thinking about a "folded figure 8" so it appears in the visible portion as two independent tracks but the crossover, 45* or 22.5*, would be hidden from view. My question is the minimum platform dimensions and if available the pieces needed to make it, already have some Fastrack but will definitely need to supplement current stock. Last time I tried using the software, RRtrax I think,  I was ready to chuck computer and all off the balconey. Confused [%-)]

Doug - Help me and I will give it a shot and pdf the results. Will give it a shot later tonight.

BTW - Strangest thing happened, we have this river channel behind our house, always dry!  Seems someone or something let loose with a lot of water, the level was very high this morning.  Strange......

Back from the museum, club had a hamburger/hot dog corn on the cob feast and all kinds of other yummy grub that members brought to share. Oink oink, full as as a tick.

Don, After perusing the newest issue of CTT, I remembered where I saw that Halloween like character. Thanks.

How can I help ???????

Why would they have a water release when everyone on the various water boards are crying about shortages ?????? Banged Head [banghead]

BD - you are right!  Trains are currently covered with sheets to protect them.  We'll see how it goes.  I do have a .2 micron cannister filter 2 HP 240V Penn State dust collector, but I'm not sure I want to fill up the filter with that find dust.  I might make a separator and put in some furnace filters to catch it, or I can buy some of those gortex filters for my old shopvac I guess...  That would be cheaper - we'll see.

Fifey, that would require strawberries and spray cheese, right?

Had a nice email talk with Sir James until he got some rain and then I had a nice chat with that fine gentleman from Chicago, Doug Murphy, last night -- mostly about kids and grubs and beetles.

Good MorningAll

Chief-should have waited till early monday morning, most of the vultures hide behind their computers at work.

I am a caboose man always, no freight train runs my rails without one, just thought it was a interesting gadget.

We got an unexpected small storm yesterday late had to leave the web and Brutus, sorry. my Maxwellhouse rain gauge didn't show much rain but it's the first we've had in two weeks so I'll take  it. No plans yet, but enjoy your day and run a toy train...S.J.

Morning all. A late start for us today since we have a baptism service at a local lake - our new pastor - from Virginia Beach - must be confused since the weather since he's arrived has been perfect - 70s, sunny, just ridiculous. Wait'll January. Great chatting with Brutus, as always.

Sir James, I'm also always appreciative of a fine caboose ... or brake van.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful OHIO day. 74 degrees. Going up to 90 today, with a lot of sunshine.

Today is a day of rest. I did a few chores, and now I am taking it easy for the rest of the day. I may go into the train room later to play for an hour. Sitting outside under the big shade tree is nice. Cool breeze. Did some reading of the latest CTT mag.

Dining car was here and departed for " Points West". It was well stocked, when it left. If it stops at Roger's Corners, it may be a little less , well stocked.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good Evening Y'all!

Sunday church was good.  Had some time to relax before heading back this evening.  I am on camera and then will be helping with a BBQ we are having.  Things are starting to heat up around here regarding the movie stuff.  We have a "Premier" up in Atlanta sponsored by Chick-Fil-A.  Our pastor also has a book that comes out today and a bunch of media events.  It will be busy for some time now.  We made an offer to the one guy for work and if all goes as planned, we will bring him on board in the next few weeks.  Practice he is in is very limited, while ours has lots of opportunity and financial gain for him.

On the train front, I have a few more wires to run and we should be operational.  Then comes scenery!  I have amassed a small fortune in scenery items, all with the brides blessing?  Funny how that works....you are on train restriction, but they seem pleased when those cute little people and houses arrived.  If I was studying for a psychology thesis, this would make a great paper.

Well, I had better finish my Dove Bar ice cream and get ready to head back to church.  I hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.  I will be off call Tomorrow morning, so I hope that I can check in more often.

God Bless,

Dennis

Went to Houston for work last week and it RAINED the whole time I was there.  Did eat at "The Taste of Texas" though and it was a pretty good steak!

On the other side, I got my most recent ebay prize... a 704 Lionel warhorse Hudson for $113.50.  The guy stated in the auction that it did not run and had fallen off his 65" big screen TV.  I took a chance and to me it was worth it.  I got the thing and low and behold it did run and the rail sounds worked as well.  All I need to do is replace a broken wheel screw (already removed the broken portion) and straighten out the cab (this will be a challenge for sure).  But heck a scale Lionel hudson for 113 bucks shoot yea boy!  I'm stoked!

I did notice one thing of interest, the boiler shell and the tender shell don't seem to be the same color.  Is there any known variation or were they all like this.  I don't really care mind you, it may get repainted anyway!

Afternoon!

Bride and eldest daughter still sleeping....youngest has been up with me for awhile.

Church brought Bono interview video.  Interesting...He started with world hunger, and did get around to focusing on the AIDS crisis, but focused on helping people in the rest of the world.  It was a good interview.  We ended up sponsering a girl from Indonesia.

Hopefully a quiet rest of the day playing whiffleball with my 3-yo.

Afternoon boys.  HAD to put together a bookcase for Pam.  Could have built one just as fast. Banged Head [banghead] Then fired up the Ranger with flushing unit on.  Cleaned out the carbs.  Be glad when it lives at the lake.  Will not have to do that.  Right there, launch it and run up the lake and back if no time for fishing.  Letting one sit is worse than using it.  Got to install the new Lowrance GPS I got in June.  Finally got the Fishing Hotspots chip for it.  Now for some trains before going to FIL's B'day bash.  Later

Good evening all from dry Southern Ohio.

It has been really busy here.  I am working night shift and classes started yesterday with lots of reading to do.  Monday I will be going to the Abby of Gethsemani in Trappist Kentucky for my pre-ordination retreat with three fellow deacon candidates.  During this time I will not have access to the internet and my train fix will need to be satisfied with the latest CTT.

Fife - after eating all those veggies, I hope everything comes out OK

Jim- I used to do a lot of renovating in living quarters that were being lived in so dust management was a BIG concern.  I used one or a combination of these two methods.  First I used very light layers, almost skim coats, ~ ⅛" thick and came back several times.  I would wet sand with a sponge and or use a vacuum set up.  Goldblatt makes a sander handle that attaches to a shop vac to capture the sanding dust.  IT works very well.  For big jobs I have the discharge from the sander go to a 5 gal bucket filled with water and a dip pipe in the lid that goes just above the water level, then a connector hose from the lid to the shop vac.  The majority of the dust falls into the water while the shop vac draws a vacuum on the bucket with water.  Very little dust gets to the shop vac and even less to the environment.

Buckeye- I agree with you, reading a CTT with a cold beverage in the shade, maybe next week while on retreat, less the beverage.  I can't imagine going the whole time in "reflection".Angel [angel]Whistling [:-^]

RT - All in moderation they say.

May God bless

Had a nice talk with RT and he promised me some fudge without nuts in it, so he's the first pickup tonight Laugh [(-D]  Getting dark out - beacons on?

Went to Red Lobster for belated lunch with family and then to the pottery place where I finished painting my little ceramic train set with AT&SF livery more or less - they didn't have the exact right colors.  I'll post a pic whenever we pic them up - probably in about 8 or 10 days.  Had good family time, and that's the main thing.

Jim - I've seen a bucket rig like that before using 5 gallong buckets I think.  I'll have to look into that too.

John - the green drywall is mold resistant.  I had a couple pieces left over from an old project and so the color was a little different.  It's always been dry and clean in the basement, so I guess it was just a different batch or maybe UV?

The weirdest thing was using the metal construction studs.  I don't think I would do it again, even though it saved us some money when I originally bought them.  On the other hand, I know how to cut and bend metal now - Mad Skilz!  Wink [;)]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
