Good morning all,

Hot in SE Indiana.  Boys tied 0-0 in a weather shortened game last night and "my" soccer girls scored twice in a 4-2 loss on the road.  That is a good sign for the girls as they are notorious for not scoring the first few games although I am surprised the defense allowed that many goals.  Did a little Second Life last night. Watched a little of the Olympics.  I had the usual fare on the dining car, which is usually and quite amply stocked.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning all.  Mike, get those girls fired up. [even though soccer is un-American, Baseball is it]  Off to meeting in an hour.  Then to town for lunch with oldest daughter and then dermatologist apt.   Need to run by Chevy dealer and get ball valve for replacement on A/C.  Leaks and causes A/C to leak down.  Replace, evacuate, recharge and should be fine.  Hope the FL guys are OK.  We need rain now.  Turnips will not come up unless it rains.  May drag out the hoses and water real good.  Have a great day.

Quick check in, everythings flooded, the cops were out directring traffic (?) on one of the main thorofares this am.  Yes, I'm at work.  Tried to send off the Princesses boyfriend back to Jersey, got there at 6 for an 8pm flight, long story short, delayed until 11, then cancelled.  Has a 5 o'clocker tonight.  Hopefully, he'll go.

I think I've had enough of this nonsense, Brutus or Sir James, make an early stop and come pick me up.  I'll bring Jersey made Italian sausage and fresh baked Italian rolls.  A couple of cases of Pepsi, and I'm outta here!!

Morning all,

Another sunny day here in Nc... Last day of work woo hoo it's Friday! No new major train news or anyhting. Grass is growing faster then I can seem to keep it mowed...I was reading online about the olympics. they are investigating the ages of the Chinese Gymnist. They seem to think that some of the participants were under the required age to compete. By looking at them I would tend to agree...one of them looks like she is 11 or 12.. I dunno.....filled the car today with gas....3.47 a gallon.

Kurt thanks for the info on the block wiring...i printed it out...(tosses you a piece of lime, shhh....dont let Laz see that he will invoke man law!)

Blueberry Hill...

Quoting prior messages....

"Buckeye....You knew I was going to comment on this........Well, to tell you the truth, Black Diamond, the Dining car has quite an extensive menu. It has all the Suthern food that Buckeye likes, and it also stops in Roger's Corners, on it's way to Blueberryhill. So, it has to stop , again, at Roger's Corners, on it's way to " Points West ". Buckeye must get a second breakfast."

I see the diner car has a extensive menu....alot of Suthern food...picks some more stuff up at Rogers corners...it also stops over by chiefs house, and he adds grits and sweet tea...

"Dining car is here and it's Cheerios for breakfast. Later."

I just have one question, why on earth do you choose to eat Cheerios with that dining car there? I could go for one of Cheifs country ham breakfast....i bet he even drinks the double vanilla bean coffee...with it to...cheif you keep talking about that and I will have to go buy a Mocha Frappucinno...

--Black Diamond-- One thing about a train, it doesnt matter where it's going, You just have to decide to get on... Woo Wooo.....

You hit the nail right on the head, Sir James  !!!!

Actually, Black Diamond, we do not serve Grits and Sweet Iced Tea. Both of those are banned. The Cheerios is only the appetizer. A few days ago, we had steak and eggs, with home made cinnamon rolls. And home made blackberry pie for dessert.

MOST of the Flying Fickle Fingers of Fay are gone. Power has been off as much as it has been on since yesterday afternoon. Every time I even thought about going into the train room, everything went dark. Had 4 inches of rain in 4 hours at mid day today. Rich mentioned our cops "directing traffic" this morning. Directing is not the word. Screwing it up is a more apt description. One of the news anchors was driving in to work and reported by phone that none of the traffic lights were functioning. Tornado warnings  most of the afternoon. We have one more band of "showers" to get through. We may even see the sun on Sunday. No major damage at the Hazen house. A few branches down and lots of leaves to rake up and the grass needed mowing before this all started!!!

Afternoon all.  Got a form from SS to fill out.  Looked on envelope and it asked for first class postage. Disapprove [V]  Yes, it is an official form.  Dermatoligist cut on me big time.  Also froze several spots.  Now time to rest.  Wife, is feeling weak and so forth like me yesterday.  Was going out with girls for dinner but is staying home and resting in bed [with Lucy whose feelings are hurt because Burg grawled at her Sigh [sigh]].   Shake and Bake, told you what would happen when you posted that thread. Laugh [(-D]  Always that way.  Why I normally stay away.   Mike, sausy what in the kitchen??? Shock [:O]  Hey Florida guys, fishing buddy's [and on Town Board] sister flew in last night from Tallahassee.  Said they had new Corvette at daughter's.  Went and got it.  30 minutes later, big flooding down pour in town and daughter had 4" of water in house.  Got Corvette to higher ground just in time.  Time for dinner.  Got to go feed the birds, geese, deer and fish.  They eat better than I do.  Later

All this talk about food is making me hungry, Chuck, got room for one more at the breakfast table?

Well I'm going to have to settle for a Sub for supper, nothing like fine dining!

Did run a few trains (4) today when the granddaughters were here.  Of course the two older ones, 5 & 7 each ran one themselves using TMCC and DCS.  They love the remotes.

Good News:

Relatives in Orlando have just seen the sun...5 days of "Fay"

Auto accident two weeks ago.  Injuries to arm are beginning to heal.

-----News:

Con-Ed 'feeder cable' went off-line this morning.   The juice has been restored (sort-of).

Half of the elevators in the complex ( 33 buildings) have been shut down. Commercial establishments were encouraged to close @ 4:00 pm.  Laundry rooms, community rooms and housing offices have been closed. No elevator service or lights in multi-floor garages, no central air (of-course), no hot water (at least the cold in still running) and the master tv antenna is 'kaput'.

Guess I'll just have to play with my trains.

BULLETIN:  Just received a notice that we should expect the power to be  off again.  Well, I guess that will kill the trains idea.

Son in law got layed off today,he was told he would be called back when work picks up. Who knows if that will happen.

Good Friday evening, Y'all!

Has been a very busy week.  Interview went well and we made the guy an offer.  We will see if things go through early next week.  I really need the rest and help.  Tonight is the first time I have made it home before 10pm this week.  I have had occasion to check in from work, but very limited. Don, Glad to hear Chris is OK.  Sorry I had missed the early reports.  Just going to be something he has to watch in future years.  I wonder if you would get that smoke companies attention if you told them you were investigating their product and its affects on your family....naw, that would be bad.

When I logged onto the computer tonight, there was a story of a derailment in OK.  It sounds like no one was hurt, but that it did have a spectacular fire ball.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080823/ap_on_re_us/train_fire

We have been bombarded with rain and heavy winds all day.  I missed most of it as I was in the OR and had my eyes away from any windows.  Did take out some big branches in the yard.  Also, supposedly some flooding and tornado watches.  I hope it subsides as wife is bringing the kids to FIL's house.  I got him a Georgia Power 0-4-0 "Tellulah Falls" engine from Lionel.  He retired from GA Power after 42 years of service.  Figure it will be a little "Thinking of You" present as he has just had some surgery.  I am still on call, so will not be able to make the trip.  Hope they have safe passage.

Well, I had better get to bed.  Sleep has been hard to come by and better take advantage when I can.  Hope everyone has blessed weekend.

God Bless,
Dennis

It is with a heavy heart that tonight I have learned that my good buddy Laz has not been on the up and up with us on the forum.  On another forum post, LAZ claims he does not own a cell phone.   That is impossible!!  Confused [%-)]

Laz often plays golf with his brother.  They depart the club house with at least two six packs of cold beverages on the cart.  As they finish the 8th hole and the last cold ones on the cart are guzzled, they call the club house in order to get another couple of cold six packs and at least four hot dogs, four bags of chips and eight candy bars .  Chef [C=:-)]

How would LAZ call the club house if he didn't have a cell phone.  I rest my case.  Laugh [(-D]

HI GIZ,

Well today was last official day o summer vaction and spent the afternoon from 2-5 at BARRYs TRAIN SHOP.  Chewing da fat with MIKE and his wife GERMAINE.  Nice afternoon.  Talk about all kinds o stuff from trains to people that come into store.  Had a few little kidos in today, under 5, and I was given the opportunity to give these youngsters a free engineers cap.  They were affraid at first but then took the hat, pretty cool.  Hope they are hooked now, need some more younger GIZ in this hobby.  After 5, went to retired Principals house and had a few beers with him.  He and his family were happy to see me.  He is doing fine and loves his new job.  His adopted new kidos put on a real show for me.  They were drawing, biking, on the jungle jim, and finally a mini recital on the piano for me.  Great stuff from a 5 year old and a 4 year old.  I felt like a long lost uncle.

Great time!  But at BARRYs I picked up a Lionel UP FEF in GREY.  I have the Black but now I got both.  Great price and has those great Elephant ears!  Just love em.  Now I got to save up for the passenger set?

  All sleep well.

Man, Laz - those engines are sweet, big congrats on that one!  Kurt, I'm still planning and putting up drywall.  Will have to finish, do ceiling, paint etc first before the big layout can start.  But, I have an idea to make a small layout with gg track and some ross switches I already picked up that will then be expanded to a bigger layout?  I'll be sure to let you guys know and review/critique my plan when it's ready.  John Baker left some bottles of Doc Robinson's in the TARDIS, but they were WARM - it's okay, I put them in the fridge for tonight Mischief [:-,]  Also, why did Sir James park it upside down?  That was a little awkward!  Rich, I already talked to Sir James, got the keys straightened out, and we'll be on the way back to get you this morning in a few minutes.  Kurt has some supplies and we have Old Mills for Laz and the hard stuff (shine) for Don and Chief as usual Wink [;)]  Oh - also got the new CTT today, yeah!  TTFN!
