Chief....My old MTH switches have worked pefect for almost 8 years.   The new ones purchased last fall when Chuck and I did the tour of the Eastern Ohio Train Stores, have been the problem.   I have one that it takes everything the motor has to make it move.  It probably won't last a whole year.  I'm replacing one O-72 because the points don't close and the dimensions of the frog are off.

For you newcomers, like Wes, I started with MTH track before Fastrack was announced by Lionel.  Has anyone used rubber ballast with Lionel Fastrack to knock down the noise?

Hi GIZ,

54 here this morning and going to get to 81.  Nice for August.  Big Day in MILLERSBURG, today is TOUR DE MILLERSBURG.  We are invaded by about 300 bicyclist doing a road race for today and tomorrow.  They are all over the place with their bikes and flashy suits and weird helmets.  Suppose to be premier event in PA?  All have a good one.

Morning all. Beautiful again. Remind me about these days in February. Had a busy day already - Cut back this ferocious ivy around the back yard - the only thing growing it seems - covering everything like kuzdu. Replaced beetle traps again - they keep filling up - I have a funny feeling they are attracting all the critters within 2 miles... Dropped off boy at football. First day hitting today - he is nervous. Looks like a not-too-busy day. Ran the Rail Zepp last night.

Sunny and warm, looks like the a/c will stay on. I'm undecided about today, could go watch the  big classic car cruise, go see what the kids have in their garage sale, cut the grass, train store, run my trains, oh too much I gave myself a headache, maybe just a nap. BLTs were good  this morning, wife fixed them, always better when she does the fixin. Have a great weekend..S.J.

Hello everyone,

Well its been a very long time since I checked in here. Trains have taken a backseat to cars, photography, school, soccer, and girls of course. My leg is better, but I have been having some trouble with it, especially after running around a lot during soccer and manhunt. Other than that, my health has never been better. I turned 18 on July 31st, and recieved my drivers license that day.

I will be a senior this year and I'm still wondering where these years have gone. It feels like I just walked in the door as a freshman. I'm looking at colleges, and I have my heart set on PennState Abington.

Other than that, theres not much to say, my life has been great. Other than this girl leaving me for someone else before summer, at least.

    Have a good day everyone.

I have a rare Saturday off from the LTS, figured I'd check in, seeing that my regular job called me inBanged Head [banghead].  Cloudy with rain today in the 90's.  The Princess and the boyfriend are going to an all day Christain rock concert, so just me and the wifey for a few hours.  Went to the Ale House last night for dinner and had half a rack of BBQ Ribs!! YUM!!!  After I get out of here, have to get my coffee for me and gas for the wifes car.  Really don't feel like working on the Satellite today, but we'll see.

TMCC - glad you're better, thanks for stopping by!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

tmcc-nowa-man - belated, but anywho--->Happy B-Day [bday]  Good job on the drivers license.  Are you driving that convertable around?  And remember, girls may come and go, but LEGACY will cause you more heartache...Mischief [:-,]

Well, went to Michael's, where I picked up the LEMAX post office, and the Silver Fox Lounge.  The post office is of a standard two story brick design, that I have seen throughout the Eastern US.  Has the green slate roof design and handsome windows.  The Silver Fox lounge is from the Signature collection, comes with 7 lights (including a lamp post), a trumpet player, and a bandstand with instruments.  It plays some hokey jazz music (kinda irritating after 2 mins.) but the cafe is open, which will allow for some extra people to be placed within.  These will fit right in with last year's barber shop and drug store.  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I think I now have all the structures I can fit in my town center, so I just have to get busy.

Fife,

Yep, I've seen a lot of seat time in the convertible....I've gotten plenty of looks from girls in it, but I'm really not looking for a serious relationship right now, it's not what I need. I need money for my photography habit, as well as gas and insurance.....girls cost wayyyy too much money. Eh if one special one comes along, maybe I will keep her around.

What a great summer it has been and this last week was another good one and last night was even better with a nice long chat with the Chief, good way to end an outstanding day. Wish in many ways we were all closer geographically.

Just home from one of the finest State Fair's in the USA, my feet really hurt! We were there for breakfast so we had a nice start, the exhibit's again are simply outstanding and always surprise me. Side note: you could put the York fairgrounds in one corner of the Iowa State Fair and not even notice it, it's that big. They made huge commitments dollar wise years ago and it's paid off big time. There is one large buildings just for electric trains, sadly it's HO :( but still kinda fun. This is there 3rd year in their new building and they are making some giant steps. The Budweiser Clydesdales are in residence this year and the do two parades a day, the only word that comes to mind with those animals is AWESOME!

Lots of Patriot Guard missions this summer, tough one coming up Monday--one more long deployment for another IANG unit to Iraq but a wonderful day on Friday--welcoming home 83 Marines home and they are ALL coming home :) Several of our National Guard units have done 4 tours to Iraq, feel bad for them and their families.

But the worst news of the summer: we will be putting on a new roof in the next 3 weeks, ugg. A little over 8K, just think of the trains that would buy but we need to get it done before the boss retires. All the rains and rotten weather we've had this year have sped that replacement time up, got 15 years out of these shingles, not a long time but we have several trees over our house so that doesn't help.

OK, enough rambling, ribs on the smoker and cold beer in the fridge, LIFE IS GOOD!

Jon

So many roads, so little time.

Evening all from beautiful Southern Ohio,

Very pleasant today.  I slept through most of it as I worked last night and working again tonight covering for another supervisor on vacation.  Made for an extra 32 hours this week at time and a half.  IT has been a long week, but the check will be nice.

Laz - We have a similar bike tour around mothers day.  The bike suits and helmets are, how shall I say, "interesting".

MTH Switch owners- sounds like their low bidder of lately needs a little quality control improvement.

Doug - The first day of live hitting for the first time can be intimidating, but after that it is a blast!  I remember after games or practice finding new bruises and cuts you never realize when you got them.

Colin - good to hear from you again.

Fife - are you going to post a picture of the lounge?  It sounds neat.

Jim F - Sleep is totally over rated, but it sure is nice to at least get enough.

Jon - Ever considered a metal roof?  It can make sense in some cases.

Got to go.  I'll check back in later

May God bless

Jim

IT WORKED!!!!  Total surprise.  Room full of folks from Church, work and community as well as her family.  She stood in shock for a few seconds.  She told me that she knew we had never been seated in that room before and then suddenly she realized they were there to see her.  It was worth the $$$$.  Could have bought several Legacy engines with that but it is only once.

Outstanding Italian food and plenty of it.  Now to rest.  Have to drive east to family reunion tomorrow AM.

Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Chief yes it could of been a few engines but look at it this way it will be many years of smiles from her for what you pulled off tonight very nice chief.

Okay need some info type help here GarGarves offers switches with the DZ-1000 switch machine but where I'm getting confused on charles ro website they have the gg113rc ( remote control) then they have the gg1113 and also have the gg1113 manual control my question is both the GG1113 and GG113rc both electric switches or what as the manual switch is listed for $29.95 and then the GG1113 is listed for $50.95 and the GG113RC is listed for $46.95

Well I survived all those hours now lets see howmuch uncle sam and the state of SC take from me.

Good Late evening everyone.  Chief, I am sure you did things right for Miss Pam.  Glad everything went well.

Colin, glad to hear from you.  I don't get a chance to keep up like I once did, but glad I caught you when you did check in.  Remember, even if the trains have to take a back burner for a time, come back here for some good talk and perhaps some good advise.

Stayed on the computer most of today as I had to take some FEMA courses for the hospital.  Most of the information was stuff I had learned YEARSSSSS ago in the fire department, but they wanted me to take these courses anyway.

Got a bunch of trains magazines from an auction.  have some from the 50s to 60s.  Great information.  One is on the FM Trainmasters, with great photos and lots of technical information too.  Now I just need the time to read them.

Well, It is way too late and I need my sleep.  While I do not have any assignment for church tomorrow, I am sure I will be asked to do something.  May everyone have a blessed week ahead.

Dennis
