Kurt.....maybe we can have Jim/aka Brutus retrofit Tardis to look like the Ohio Central #763 4-8-2 I saw in the link Buckeye provided to get to Chief's lakeside retreat for the party.  Did you get your invitation yet?  Mine came in a box with a big bag of grits.  Although Dennis just got back from vacation, it sounds like he could use another, so we should drop by and pick him up on the way.  He could bring Chief some of the dead furry animals the owl was eating in his front yard as a "peace " offering for Chief.

Dennis....the Russians bypassed Roseyville on the way to Georgia because they got intimidated.  Saw dead vermin all over the place, did autopsies: found lead pellets, insecticide spray, and grits.  Thought they were in the same Forbidden Zone they saw in the movie Planet of the Apes and got out of there fast.

Mornin' boys.  Hazy & 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Been reading the latest issue of the NRHS Bulletin (Fall '07...they're a little behind).  Anyway, excellent pictorial on cattle cars and stockpens, centered around the Harriman Ranch in the early 70's (UP territory).Cowboy [C):-)]

Buckeye - It sounds like a good time ahead in OHIZO, but if his emminence is headed your way, I'm headin' south to Roseyville...party should be a good one.Laugh [(-D]

HI GIZ,

58 this morning and foggy.  But another nice day on tap here today.  Got to cut neighbor ladies lawn then run trains today.  I really like the El Capitan set I got from down at BARRYs.  I am now looking for a Sante FE A unit Dummy or even a powered A unit for this set ANYONE have any ideas?  I tried ebay and the TCA exchange but no cigar.  ANYWHERE else I can try?

DENNIS sounds like you might have the beginings of an ARK starting.  This summer I've been watching a doe with her two fawns.  They are just beautiful.  I see them right down from my house about a quarter of a mile, usually first thing in the morning.  I've been about 25 feet from them and they are just real cool.  Been talking to them but as of late haven't spoken to me yet.

  GOLF later today against BRO.

  HAPPY FRIDAY EVE!!!!

  B good or B gone,

KURT, JACK, and FIFE,

Yes nice nite lying on hammock.

Had frosties in the cooler on ice next to hammock for easy reach.

The PERSIIDES were in the NE sky.  So that explains all them FIREWORKS coming from the SW?

JACK, put my turtle(3) in kidie wading pool for about an hour when do the cleaning.  They love it and just are trying to bust out.  No diseases here with the turtles.  My two are about 15 years old and the female is about 8.  She has laid eggs for three years now and we have taken them and buried them in sand kept them moist and still we havent had any hatch.

Morning all. Hazy and cool here - more like summer.  Middle boy is enjoying his football two-a-days - he is lucky it is in the 70s. Have to register him at the high school today - I guess I just bring my checkbook for the books and all...

Fife's reading is interesting -do any of you run a stock train?

It might be nice to run: ie, having to stop every X miles for exercise and water/food.

Planning to golf Laz-style tonight - but on the local miniature course - there's a bar in the middle of it.

Good Morning All

Sorry no exciteing news this morning unless you want to hear about the family gals garage sale. I think its still in the 60s this morning, not Aug. temps at all. No A/C though so nice summer smells in the house. Except when there is bacon on the stove for BLT's. Oh I forgot to mention the tomato we had on grilled hamburgers, each slice larger than the bun, summer is so nice. Need to mention something about toy trains, oh I know, I like them.    S.J.

cnw1995 - I started a collection of LIONEL Horse cars for the littlest princess.  So far she has the A.T.S.F. #9280, LIONELVILLE FARMS #16682, and the BREYER #6473.  There's a yellow version from the late 50's floating around, and a Kentucky Derby car as well I'm keeping my eyes peeled (I don't shop via ebay).  Any other samples out there?

Future plans are to model the stockpens at Moorefield,WV.  So a horse coral is in order as well.

Found out tonight that the original Coffee Pot thread is still available.  Was searching for an old post and found it in the original CP thread.  Amazing how quickly several years have gone by.  The coffee pot has been going for over four years now.  Saw many names of posters that no longer post.  I guess change is inevitable but sometimes a little sad.  Especially when you remmeber that some posters have gone to that big roundhouse in the sky.

[Rant on]The search function needs a lot of work.  It will tell you that something you are looking for is in a thread but takes you to the first page of the thread not the actual post it found. Then you have to go a couple pages at a time to get to the page with the post you really want. [Rant Off]

Did NOT get a call this afternoon so it looks like its back to square one.

I read that article as well, very interesting.  I was not aware that they lasted as long as they did.  Don't think there were any in the East much past the 50s.

Chief, However you spell Bar-be-que, it still taste great.  I don't know about the politic part.  I guess it was the preachers that were always big on fried chicken and potato salad.  Some of those guys look like they have'nt missed too many chicken dinners.  In Virginia, I think the thing that went with politicking was oyster roast or shad bakes.  Sadly, there are no oysters left fit to eat in the Chesapeake Bay from what I hear.  Ray

John, I was checking out a episode of "Trains and Locomotives" on RFD that was on the DVR.  The episode was on the GG1s and in some of the shots, you can see them pulling cattle cars.  Will have to watch it again for era and location.  Obviously, it was in the Pennsy's NE corridor.

Was a long day, but at least I am not on call.  Had some things to take care of regarding the movie, but not much.  Actually got home in time to do a little wiring on the layout....until the dog decided to take a leak on the tarp under the layout.  Thank goodness for that tarp.

When I get done tomorrow, plan to stop by movie theater to get some tickets to take the kids to see the new "Star Wars" movie.  Hope it is not too bad as it is hard to find something the kids like, yet doesn't give them a wrong message.

Chief Eagles School, now that does have a ring to it.....  I bet they serve Grits at lunch time!

After tonight's meeting, citizens wanted to name the new middle school Frank Eagles Middle School.  No joke.  Told them no.  We are pushing Rolesville.  Well better check the 11 PM news on WRAL-TV.  Some guy stuck a camera in my face [yes he did] when I started talking.  Rude.  Good night.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.

Had to come back on for two reasons.  Saw WRAL-TV news.  They finally got down to whale s--t reporting.  Nothing like the meeting ended was what they reported.  Citizens are not coming up with alturnatives, I'm and will try to get them done.

Buckeye, MTH Realtrax switches are almost as low as WRAL-TV's reporting.  I was running trains the other day adn a train went through the reversing loop.  Went to throw the swtich back to green and it acted as if it had shorted out the switch motor.  Then the switch lantern went out and when I would flip the controler to green, it made all the switch controler light go out.  I turned it by hand.  I will check it again soon.  They do that a lot.  Sometimes they will go back to work by themselves.  Sometimes you have to pull them out.  Lets all get a letter composed and put our signatures on it.  We will email it to CTT Editor and ask for assistance.  See if they can get MTH to listen.  Fife talked to MTH rep about it at York.  Guy didn't know anyone was having trouble [lies like a rug].  They also arc when diesels go through switches used as curves in mainline.  I am going to experiment with a Ross switch [a buddy is sending me one to test].  If Ross will work [get roadbed thickness level and they are wired without problem] OK, will start replacing them with Ross's.

OH, it full moon [looks that way] and MTH JUNK does not work during full moon.

I feel better now.  I bet the Chief is LOL.

Buckeye--instead of blood pressure medicine (or Gin) to resolve this problem--four words--Gargraves track/Ross switches=problem solved.  The issue is you and I are in the same boat, lots of $$$ invested in MTH product and for me I'm past the point of no return, I cannot start over.  My MTH track has worked flawlessly for me and I only have two bad switche's out of 14 on my layout, thankfully I can reach them so they become manual switches and they are on sidings.  Maybe I was fortunate, they are about 9 years old.  I still like MTH track and for a small layout (4 x 8) I believe MTH switches would be OK.

It appears to me quality control from all manufacturers could be better or are we expecting to much?  A hobby should not be frustrating, it's challenging enough when everything sort of works Smile [:)]
