Evening from beautiful Southern Ohio

Chief- Great looking meal, now if were squirrel it would be over the top!Dinner [dinner]

John B, big breakfast is a good thing, keeps you going all day.

Not much free time for train stuff right now, got a few little projects to work on, but with the weather so nice it is hard to justify being inside.  I am on dayshift and taking a break from writing a new procedure, been reading prints and developing valving alignments all day.  I am about to go cross eyed.

Well, back to work.

May God bless

Jim

Afternoon all!

Great day at the Zoo!  78-degrees and sunny....didn't see any trains.  The top of the pedestrian crossing (Zoo is on both sides of the street) is a great place to view the trains, as they travel about 150-feet away from you at the same level.

Jack:  Toledo Zoo in Ohio...Its small but very well done.  Very Kid friendly.  I needed special permission from Buckeye to cross the nothern Ohio boarder.  They shoot first down there.

Chief:  Your secret is safe with me.  I won't tell anyone to eat that wallpaper paste either, you can keep that too!  Laugh [(-D]  What a way to ruin red-eye gravy.

Doug:  That's one purty car!

Chief, I know that stuff taste 100% better than the grits look in the picture.  Wish I had some country ham and bisquits right now.   I am following in your footsteps with test tomorrow in Hospital.  I'm doing the prep thing today with nothing but clear liquids for 24 hours.  Staying near tlhe bathroom for the rest of the day.  Looks like your wife makes perfectly shaped bisquits.  The ones my Mother used to make were round but not so perfect.  She just formed them with her hand instead of a cookie cutter type thing.  Happy trails y'all.  Ray

Good evening all!

Spent the last bit trying to catch up on the forum.  Been busy lately.  Have one guy coming down for an interview next week.  This sounds like the best candidate, but have to see.  Hope it works out as I have Elk hunting to do in the fall and a meeting to attend, besides, I'd like to actually get back to the trains.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Kids are in school these days, so if I get any time at home, I hope to spend some quality time with my bride.

John baker, Michael Phelps is a swimmer on the US team.  He has broken a number of world records and is looking like he may win the most gold medals for one athlete in one olympic game ever.  PS: did you hear about the US defeating the French in the 4 x 100 swim?  The French had made a bunch of comments on crushing the US, then ate crow.

Hope everyone has a blessed week.

Jim,  I don't know if it's a Southern thing or what but I used to put peanuts in an RC Cola when I was a kid.  They were good too.  I remember also all the things covered by the Statler Bros. song, "Do You Remember These".  "Saturday morning serial chapters one through fifteen, fly paper, penny loafers, Lucky Strike Green, ah to you remember these" e tc etc etc.  Somebody had that thing on the internet one time.  Good song if you grew up in the 50's. Does this mean the French eat grits too?  Obviously, the South and French have the same tastes in food. Whistling [:-^]

Good evening all

RI52 and others, Doc gave me different Presc. to take, since the antibacterial one did not work. I think this one is for serious allergy infections. Also getting a CT Scan on Fri. morn. just to check things out. Thanks for asking.

I did go to the train store after and spent a couple of hours there talking about this train item or the one that has not come in yet, ect. Even managed to get out without buying or ordering anything. I did look for the new MTH end of train device but did not see them and said, self don't ask, then can't buy. so thats what self did. Came home took a dose of meds and then flopped. Brutus fire it up, no loops tonite though already got them in my head without leaving the house. Banilla is ready so belly up to the bar,and have a root beer float.    S.J.

Evenin' All !

Just woke up from a short snooze. Have spent the past two days working in our daughter's classroom getting it ready for start of classes on monday. Almost finished, thank goodness, I am exhausted. Came home, sat down to watch the news and I was out like a light.

Sir J. _ Your upcoming CT kinda brings back a funny memory, now yes then no, about a year and a half back I was scheduled for one and as per prep guide I had to drink a bunch of water. This I did and left for my appointment, unfortunately there was a major wreck on the freeway that created a traffic nightmare. When I finally got to the office I think I was in the head for about twenty minutes.

Doug M_ Now that is one sweet car, would make a heck of a bar. Whistling [:-^]

I grew up mostly in the late 60/70's, but I'm sure I have heard that song.  RC Cola and Moonpies - yummy!  Bought some Moonpies for the kids at Crackerbarrel a week ago so they could try them out.  Should have bought a whole box, but I"m trying to lose weight.  My friend Jeff brought in some MRE's he picked up at the PX so we had chili mac for lunch with fig bars.  I didn't eat the raisins though - tempting fate as I'm teaching in a tiny little room right now with 10 other people and I don't want them to kill me Laugh [(-D]  Hmmmm - raisins, I love them but they don't love me.  Got a call from my friend John D to come over and finally finish the retaining wall around his patio.  I have a couple of bricks to cut, so Thursday I'll throw some tools and work clothes in the back seat and just go to his house when I get off work.  Kids are off still, but school is looming closer and closer --- bwahahahahaha!  I love it when they go back to school, because then I can just drop them at school near our house instead of driving here one day and there the next, sometimes 20 miles away to drop them off.  Chief, I love love love bisquits and ham and I even like grits, but that gravy bothers me.  Now, I love some sawmill gravy, like they have at Crackerbarrel.  Not on the old diet though Sad [:(]

Stayed up past midnight just to check my bank account on line.  It was electronicly deposited at midnight.  Now I want to say,

Thank you to all my working friends on the forum.  I've gotten my first Social Security check.  Keep on paying in so I can ENJOY.

I have enjoyed the little barbs about the grits but am disappointed over no comments about vinager based bar-be-que in this link.

Kurt/DougM......the restored interiors of the dining cars of the Conway Scenic Rail Tour cars in North Conway NH have some of the most intricate and beautiful woodworking imaginable. Plus they serve cold ones.  I could have ridden that train all the way to Don and DougDG's.

Ray-SP.....You had better say something to the Doc tomorrow about grits tasting better than they look.  You must be delirious from the fasting.  Or the clear liquids you are taking are 80 proof. This sounds serious.  Will say a prayer that "everything comes out" all right tonight and everything goes smoothly tomorrow.

Jim Phish.....You are absolutely correct.  A big breakfast with grits WOULD keep me "GOING all day", both ends.

Lee.....what became of all the nasty tropical storms and hurricanes down your way?  Sounds unusually quiet for this time of year.

Rich has disappeared.  Bet he's out in the garage, furiously working on one of his car  restorations before the snow flies.

Sir James....Doc took a culture from wife and me, then we got some prescription nasal spray along with the antibiotics.

Chuck and Buckeye......I'm hiding under my desk.  No grits comments retaliation YET from Roseyville, so we better close the borders and prepare for a sneak attack.  Got my dogs down by the door as early warning devices.  Brutus says he likes grits, so we have an informer amongst us in control of Tardis.  Man the guns.  It could get rough.

Good morning everyone.  Today I am working VA claims at the Ironton AMVETS on 3rd Steet in downtown Ironton Ohio.  In my office there is a small (3'X5') Marx O-27 layout the veterans enjoy when they come in to file, or update their VA claim.

So if you are in the Ironton area stop in and visit.  Ask for Dave.  The post is open Wednesday from 6 am until 2 pm. Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool, and sunny 52 degrees. Going up to a suuny 80, today, with a slight chance of rain, later. Hope not.

Today is a busy day. I will be driving up to Cambridge for groceries. That is not a pleasant job. Gas is still hanging on, about $3.70 a gallon. I don't trust it, though. Food prices continue to climb. Coffee has gone up badly. No train time today. I will be spending some time in the train room, this weekend. For sure.

Dining car has rolled in. Time for breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

Nice weather in SE Indiana.  Practiced a little with "my" soccer girls and gave them their annual "Victory" drinks and pre-season pep talk.  I wonder if it does any good, but they appear to listen.  Watched two more work related videos last night.  I hope I get caught up soon.  Regular fare on dining car.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' all....

Yup, sorta disappeared for a few, did post on the SPF.  Did a little train work Monday night, laid down some grass.  The AC Moore craft store is having an inventory reduction sale and seaonal is 10% off, so I bought some grass, tombstones and street lamps from LeMax.  Good haul for $20!

Repaired trains on Saturday at the LTS...more & more people are thinking Christmas, lot of inquiries about Christmas trains and sets.  Prior Saturday was quiet, last was busy!  Got ice cream at Bruesters Sat. night, just me and the bride.  My daughter's boyfriend is in town, so once in a while we can sneak out for some private time.  Just gotta watch them two.  Sunday we pressure washed the Satellite, got a ton of dirt and crap off the frame and engine compartment.  My paint guy and I commiserated yeaterday on paint, so looks like we'll paint the engine compartment satin black.  Once that happens, then we can transplant the "race engine" from the station wagon to the Satellite and go over the engine that was in the Sat and install in wagon.

Nasty, nasty weather heading this way, heavy rain, lightning & a tornado watch most of today.  Thank goodness I work inside now!!!

For youze Ohizio giz, I see the G&W has purchased the Ohio Central....very interesting!

RT - Congas bro!! Good Job!

Doug - Yup, very nice car.  Kind wish those would run again, but think of the upkeep!!

Stay safe & dry...time for work..I'll be peeping in on ya from time to time...just been busy at the job

Later!

Morning all.  Rich is sending me much needed rain [thanks Ole' Buddy].  My neighbor is back out of the mental facility.  He is hiding right now.  Time for breakfast as slept late.

I keep hearing a noise.  Kid of irritating noise.  More clutter than anything else.  Seems to be coming from MA.  AH, found it.  Oh well, as long as it keeps working and sending in Social Security, I can put up with some noise. Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Whistling [:-^]

Got lunch meeting with chamber president and then a Chamber Economic Development Meeting right afterwards.  Rain means I might run trains too.

Have a good one.

HI GIZ,

54 and cool here today.  Felt the coolness in my fingers this morning on my run.  Felt great.  Seems like fall is right around the corner?  Hope so?  Today got to change water in turtle tank and then have a dentist appoinment to get a cap put on.  Hope its a nite cap?  WAAA!

JACK, seems like you're gonna be making hay when it stops raining?

BUCKEYE, when did syncronized diving become an olympic sport?

CHUCK, love the red gravy comparison.  Old transmission fluid.  Yep it does look like that.

John....PM=Private Message.  You can shoot stuff back and forth privately to folks on the Forum without posting in a thread.

Go to the trains.com main page, look half way down, and there is a line that includes "Private Messages."  Click on that to see all the private messages you have sent or received.  You can respond from there.

Look at the bottom of every post.  If you hit PM or Email, you can exchange off-Forum on a post or a thread.

Morning all. Cool and overcast. Fewest 90 degree days in the decade so far this summer. Fine wth me.  Working at home today - have to go over to the high school to resolve some scheduling issues - seems they listen to a dad more than anyone else...

So you put the peanuts in your Coke, then you drink your Coke and eat the peanuts? I can't imagine this... Wink [;)] I like Jack's idea of a train ride, complete with beverage service.

I miss the bar cars that used to be on my commuter trains - gone I think ten years now. Whew, I'm sure Glad my SS is going to the Chief rather than some lay-abouts ...

GOOD MORNING ALL

Chief BBQ sauce is edible, grits on the otherhand has no useful purpose whatsoever.(except pothole filler and tire patchs)

Dougdagrump, oh the pain,at least my CT is going to be in a spot that has lots of room.

It's overcast this morning with rain expected this afternoon. But not chilly like this past weekend. Remember today is Friday the 13th so be careful, at least we will get it out of the way earlier this week. Enjoy your day and find a train somewhere to watch or play with.S.J.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Hazy and 75 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  In the midst of Back-to-School shopping in fifedom.  I seem to remember using the same ol' denim bookbag for 5 years straight in my yute...that doesn't bode well these days.

cnw1995 - It has been a mild August here as well.  I enjoy the nice 70's and lower 80's, but jumping in the pyull can cause some shrivelage.Shock [:O]

anjdevil - That is a good looking Diner scene.  Does the roof come off to add some more patrons.  BTW, was in stop-and-go traffic Saturday afternoon on I-70.  To my right was a pickup hauling a car trailer with a brand new black Challenger.  Kinda made the 20 minute wait a little easier...Thumbs Up [tup]

Laz - that wasn't PERSIIDES;that light show was compliments of a finances "discussion" with fifey's-wifey...
