Hi folks!! Those that may not remember its Cooltech!!. Computer is fixed and its nice to be back. Did a quick look at current posts. Obvious, life is going on for all. Sorry to hear about the Rite Aid guy. No matter how vile an individual may become, there is always a family that suffers the hurt. A mom, a dad. I remeber my pastor in a sermon how he mentioned the anguish the mother of Judas Iscariot must have felt when he took his own life over what he had done. I hope the RA guy gets the help he needs.
On to other things. Music studio is almost completed and recordings are being done. Restored Gitane racing bike is getting 12-20 mile stints as time allows. Todays tennis match was a three hr. thrill. Legs feel a bit like jelly!
Well, Best to all and I hope I wasn't forgotten.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 57 degrees. Going up to 80 today, with sunshine. Bad storms, last night, missed us. Thank goodness.
Today is a less busy day. I have an errand to run and the usual chores. After that, I plan on taking it easy. Got all the mowing done yesterday. I will spend some quality time running trains later. Not much else new here.
Dining car has arrived and it's breakfast time.
Y'all have a great day.
Chuck
Good morning all,
Nice weather in SE Indiana. Going to Kentucky tomorrow for IRL race. Weather should be great. Hopefully one of the good guys will win. Took wife to see "Momma Mia!" last night. Good music, so-so singing, no plot, but nice way to spend a couple of hours. Work still intense. Will watch scrimmage between "my" soccer girls and the high school boys tonight. Hopefully the girls will not run up the score too much!!! I hope everyone has a nice day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
PS Chief, sorry to hear your neighbor is having so many problems. Hope he gets the proper help.
Morning!
Cooltech: Gitane eh? Very cool! I bet that's fun to ride! Welcome back!
Sir James: When that happens here, I usually ask (to myself) what do you want, or what did you do.
Well...I gave up... I bought the Charles Woods silver in an aerosol can. To preface, the silver is probably the most difficult paint there is. Charles Woods paint is very high grade metal flake automotive quality paint, and putting it in a spray can, at least the silver, was probably unwise. I had trouble with the metal flake clogging the sprayer tips; I tried a few different ones, and ended up with a dirty finish. Charles said, I needed to shake the paint up more; I did; to no avail. I will try this paint again, but will use a paint sprayer, to verify that the paint has been thouroughly mixed, and strained properly. Paint dried to the touch in about a day.
The 182 Crane superstructure ended up with a Dupli-color 'Cast Iron' color instead. It's a warm dark grey with silver metal flakes, so it's far from origional. I know " Oh the humanity..." Look for photos Sunday.

HI GIZ,
Well its a beauty of a day here at 58 and nice. No workout this morning for its my day off of workouts. GOLF last nite was tied going into the 8th hole then t storm came up and had a half hour delay. Then when play resumed shot a 9 on the next hole and lost again. Oh well wings and beer tasted great as usual.
JELECTRIC, Great deal at BARRYs. Is there anymore engines there? I will be going down on Monday.
B good or B gone,

Morning boys. Breezy and 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Lots of running around today, work tonight, then leaving for Cumberland tomorrow for a very special event (pics for SPF).
Chief - "EAHHHHHK" Is that southern YIDDISH...?
jefelectric - Nice acquisition on the steamer. On the JET FAVRE deal, jury is still out. Certainly gives ESPN something to fill a whole hour on though. Both he and the PACK came out looking bad on that fiasco.
laz - Ya know, when you do a "4-miler", I feel like I do a "4-miler". I was wondering why I was feeling a little flabby this AM... Anyway, you should have played through last night;could've been a great Caddyshack moment...

Yes there is...I should have bought that one...I will next time. Sometimes being lazy doesn't pay. I was trying to save time by using aerosol, instead of doing a set up and tear down of the sprayer. I only have a full size gun...I broke the lever on the touch-up gun last time I used it.
Good Morning
Guy's honest and for truly my wife likes the trains but I have reached the point where no more are actually needed. Many of us have that problem. Another thing that helps beside being married to a toy train nut for so long is the fact that for about ten years she was the shipping and receiving clerk at P & D. So some of this train stuff has been an influence on her. Now if I could figure out a way to get her to like me.
We have a sunny start this morning, still no rain here although spots of sct. rain all over the state yesterday. Grass is drying up so no cutting needed. Guess I will run a toy train today. Have a good weekend. S.J.

Hey guys!
Never did find out the cause of our isolated power failure the other evening. Been 'batchin it the past two nights, and again tonight (Bunco night). So been messing around on the layout. Now have illuminated bumpers on all the sidings. Looks pretty good, and also helps identify where power is on. (Added led's to the inexpensive Lionel plastic bumpers.
Stiring up some trouble at our club, we have one guy that is really artistic, and good. But he wants to instal a tunnel about 50' long. And encase two main lines for the entire distance. They've been talking about it for awhile, but I don't think the membership has bothered to really look at the area being affected. So our next Operating Session, (Wed), I'm going to take some butcher paper and tape on the area that will be enclosed, so everyone can get a perspective. I've been trying to tell him, we come down to WATCH TRAINS run, not look at 50' of foam cliffside. Shall be interesting.
Sure are some good scores that have recently been made. If you guys only had the LHS' that we have out here, you would definetly be going through withdrawals. I'm jealous!! (But then I don't know where I could put anymore, either.)
(John F., I think you should consider a TCA Annex building in Etown, perfect site would be in that lot across from you, or maybe in that old building down at the corner. Could consider Chief's lake front property, but no one would ever show up - Varmits, Speedo attired neighbors, etc.. And anyway, it would be right in between York and Lancaster.)
Speaking of Chief, Hope you enjoy the Weddin', just leave the Shotgun at home!!

There was water on the deck this morning so we had some rain overnight. Did see lightning a couple times but don't know if it stormed or not. I am going to cut the grass after lunch, been a while since it was last cut.
I have a second interview on Monday, so I might be going back to work soon.
I bought the Lionel M1a a few years ago. It is one very nice engine, it will run on O42 curves which is amazing for its size.
Truck tire picked up a screw and was flat yesterday. Busted a stud off while trying to loosen one of the lugnuts. Thank goodness for road hazard, tire was fixed for free. Now need to decide if I want to tackle replacing the rear brakes and hubs myself or just take it to repair shop. Front brakes were a bear not too long ago.

Ray,
I agree! I honestly don't believe people really know what is being planned. Conversations have usually been something like "The tunnel will start there by the bridge, and come out about by the oil tank. But it is a stretch where you can really run the train at speed, and that is unusuall to be able to do that. And, it REALLY looks cool to see a steam engine doing a scale 90 to 100 mph, safely. Don't do it often but occassionally. Still my major point is we are there to Run, and SEE trains! Not static displays. So, I will put the butcher paper up so everyone can get a truer perspective. And cleaning the track, too many problems!!! Besides I don't know of any tunnel that would be that long, except maybe the English Channel.

To, Sir James,
Great fun those trains. When do ya stop buying? Last Dec. I gave a bunch of stock to the Salvation Army store. One a complete Lionel set. Not a collectable but a great starter for a kid.
Somtimes I go to the shows just to window shop. There are worse ways one could spend money.
Well, best to all and todays post were fun.
Good evening everyone. Had a long day, but now it seems to be over. Had one of our cars at the Toyota dealer getting a detail done. Went to pick it up and it wouldn't get into gear. They called Mercedes and got one of their mechanics over. Turns out it is a "Shift Module" and runs $900.00. Thankfully, Toyota is picking up the tab on that one.
When I got home, I took delivery of some trains magazines from one of the auction places. Great stuff. Issues from the mid 50s, some 60s and 70s. Great information. Lots of interesting articles. Right now, I am watching the end of "Support Your Local Sheriff" Great movie.
Will check in later.

Nice day in St. Louis today and no rain on the radar. I'm signed up for OT tomorrow and now find out that I have to work 6 to 12, so can't stay up late tonight.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Assume the scenicing guy means well and that he wants to help contribute his expertise to the success of the club. I agree 100% with you that 100 feet of mainlines (50' x 2 mainlines) covered by a tunnel takes away too much of what most members (and visitors) would want when they view the layout and when they run on the layout: a view of running trains with stunning consists, and the added bonus of viewing running trains at a speed they can't replicate or view elsewhere.
Along with your mockup, make a few behind the scenes calls to members who share your vision, emphasizing that silence is tacit approval. Make sure you get some ideas from them about an alternative use of this guy's artistic talents. You really do have an opportunity with this guy's willingness and talent to have him do something special for all. Ask those other members what they would like to see done with this guy's donated talents if not his overbearing tunnel.
If you imply or state outright in public that the guy's vision is over the top (and it is), you will create ill will with him and his supporters. If you ask him how "we" can maintain the current and wonderful running train visual and the club's exceptional and somewhat unique high speed capability without covering up 100 feet of mainline track, he may surprise you with an acceptable alternative.
Make sure YOU have an alternative or two to stoke the guy's fertile brain and draw out some member discussions of other ideas.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
It is a cool and sunny 58 degrees. Going up to 78 today, with a few clouds. Yesterday was a beautiful day.
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and a few chores to do around the house. Grass is all mowed. Growing slower lately. Garden is ready to have a lot of tomatoes getting ripe. Cucumbers have been great. Planning on spending some time in train room this weekend.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Nice here today at 58. No run today just gonna take another doay off. I think my body needs it? Going to make up for it tomorrow and do a 7 miler. Today MOM and SISTER from ESCONDIDO are coming down here to MILLERSBURG to visit. So me and BROTHER MARK will take them out for dinner.
FIFE, I shoulda played through probably would have done better. On the running, FIFE you can do it. Just remember one foot in front of the other. And one telephone pole at a time.
Morning all. Went to Mom's. Seems they had a storm and the wind blew real strong. Blew up some shingles and broke them off. I had carried some shingles with me. Patched the roof and checked all shingles on the edge of the roof. Any not stuck down now, got a slab of roof cement to hold them down. Frankie got the limbs [lots] and leaves off the roof. He cleaned the gutters. All is well there.
Came home and went to wedding. Outside. Was a slight breeze and cooler for August. Worked out real good. Pig picking afterwards. Came home full of food. Immediately reclinerized.
Got to go pickup ferns and etc from SIL's yard and bring home. Will go to Miss Edna's for a short while. We need rain now. Things drying out as we have had some hot days. Lucy doing good. Sleeps all night in mudd room and does not pee on her newspaper. Does not bark or squeel until you get up and go in there. She has more energy than the Road Runner. About as fast too. Later.
PS: Unboxed Legacy [it came yesterday while I was gone]. To my surprise, all engines and trains were in there. Works great. Ran trains this morning.
Jack,
You are 100% correct, the guy is extremel very talented. Fortunately he doesn't have a real fragile ego. I've seen him do something and it didn't work or make many people happy and he turns around tears it out, rebuilds it, then do it again. He is a huge asset for the club. BTW he works at Disneyland, and is the Fireman on the Steam train that runs around the park. The whole problem stems from the initial "plan" that was conceived 4 or 5 years ago, by a couple of the charter members, and then embelished since. Unfortunately, it was not really well represented and met with a lot of complacency. As things work as slow as they do, noone has paid much attention. Now, it could become a concern.
Your recommended approach is right on target! As a relatively "newcomer", I certainly do NOT plan on making this a major issue within the club. It is one of those things were your welcome to participate, and are a member, But don't forget whoose sandbox it is! What really surprises me is that the purpose of the tunnel is to provide a base for some On30 track and stuff, and there is only 1 or 2 that have any.
It is for these reasons that I have made my OWN layout and really don't get too involved with all the politics. So we will see what happens.
Have a relaxing weekend planned, wire up the 2 new switches I installed, do some chores, and a few other things in the train room.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!
GOOD MORNING ALL
A good breakfast this morning, wife is home to cook. Eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast. A nice sunny morning cool for Aug. but nice. We are going to a pig roast this afternoon for wife's family gathering and of course sct. thunder showers are in the forecast. If we get the eating part in, I'll settle for that. so no trains today although I may sneak in a run this morning. Have a great weekend...S.J.
